Reckless and dangerous hit by Carcillo. Bad injuries can happen this way. Gotta love Gleason stepping right up. DRAW in a bummer.

Is same sex marriage legal in North Carolina.

What a fuckin joke. Carcillo turtles like a little bitch. What a punk. He is lucky Tim Gleason didn't get the chance to really hurt him. I am not a fan of the 'canes but I do like Gleason's game. I am surprised nobody else took care of the punk. Hopefully a fine is coming.

Crap fight!

Posted by leeban on October 03, 2009 at 02:12 AM

Draw ,, I hate Carcillo and I am still suprised that this guy is in the NHL. He is going to eventually hurt someone really bad or someone is going to dummy Carcillo when he aint looking like Big Bert did to Moore to stick up for Naslund. And who gets the game misconduct ? Gleason ? I dont care what the rule book says this is stupid. Carcillo deserves to be crippled. And if everytime someone goes after him gets ejected soon someone will just end Carcillo's career just to be done with it. just my 2 cents.

Posted by Steelpride12 on October 04, 2009 at 01:52 AM

draw. Both got one hit in and ended with a tackle.

Posted by daflyersman on November 12, 2009 at 11:31 AM

I actually thought that the guy was too far away from the boards for it to be boarding, but it was definitely a dangerous hit. As for the fight, it's a draw. Nothing really happens in it at all.

Posted by Riomouse911 on October 02, 2009 at 10:12 PM

Gleason stuck up for Ray Whitney. "One punch and done" Carcillo pretty much missed his one punch, neither did anything. Draw.

Posted by bostonrs555 on October 03, 2009 at 09:55 PM

I love the announcers, stay in your weight class and you won't get hurt.... So basically, Carolina is a team full of punks!!!!! Look out Buffalo, someone is after your Wuss Title......... DEERAWWWW!!!!

Posted by CairnsIsGod33 on October 02, 2009 at 10:49 PM

DRAW. I think it's wrong to give a guy a game misconduct for coming to defend his teammate after an illegal hit from behind.

Posted by MatchPenalty on October 02, 2009 at 11:52 PM

Instigator Rule: Rule 56 Fisticuffs: a. A major penalty shall be imposed on any player who fights. A player who is deemed to be the instigator of an altercation shall be assessed an instigating minor penalty, a major for fighting and a ten minute misconduct. Are you guys all American? Learn your rules before you get all bent out of shape. Do your homework, the rulebook is online.

Too short to call anything. Nice to see Gleason stick up for his teammate tho.

Posted by piney on October 03, 2009 at 10:08 PM

really wanted to give this to Gleason but carcillo didn't get the beating he deserved. Draw

Posted by Commish19 on January 21, 2010 at 08:29 PM

does carcillo ever challenge a real fighter? im not really sure why this guy has a job in the nhl. in the old days with the heavyweights this guy would not been in the league, lucky he came around in the wimpified nhl of 00's

Posted by truheelzfan44 on December 08, 2009 at 05:30 PM

Good fight at the time for Gleason, regulating Carcillo. Gleason fears no one, but there was no clear winner. Would like to see them go again though.

Posted by staceyb on October 03, 2009 at 05:43 AM

If the first game of the season is any indication, Carcillo is going to kill the Flyers with his bonehead penalties.

Posted by Taubi on October 03, 2009 at 05:02 AM

No Fight = Draw.

Posted by ETHREE on October 03, 2009 at 08:17 AM

DRAW... Yes, the new fighting rules do suck. It is hockey... not basketball or womens water polo... the league is starting its downturn with all these new rules. And it was a clean but late hit... For all of you people who think Whitney didnt play that one at all, you are fools. If youre a 15 yr NHL veteran Id hope you could with stand a shove on the boards. All of you Carcillo / Flyer haters need to get a life and let the goons, enforcers, hitters all do their job. STFU and learn to like good ole traditional hockey. Where there was 25 hits per team a game and at least 2 fights per game per team. Guys like Cote Carcillo Shelly Boll Laraque Thornton Brashear are all becoming rare and are slowly becoming illegal to the game. All because sissys want to see more goals and less hitting.

Posted by smwarpig63 on November 26, 2009 at 10:20 AM

These was a terrible hit by carcillo, but since than he has been great about not overreacting and giving dirty hits.

Posted by bruins rule on October 02, 2009 at 11:15 PM

nothing much going on in this fight.

Posted by dropdaglovesnow on October 03, 2009 at 10:35 AM

Whitney a 10 for taking a dive? Really? He got boarded from behind standing stiill by a guy 25 lbs heavier than him who was skating towards him. Dude, WTFU! GLEASON LOVES STICKING UP FOR HIS TEAMMATES!

Posted by Gaff73 on October 03, 2009 at 08:18 AM

Carcillo is the MAN. Finally our boys have a guy that the whole world HATES. I Love it! That hit wasn't even that bad. He pushed the guy and he dives head first into the boards. I give Whitney a 10 for the dive. I also give a 10 to Gleason for sticking up for his team mate.

Posted by acd1 on October 17, 2009 at 05:21 PM

Nice hit. Crap fight

Posted by Finnish-Flash. on October 03, 2009 at 04:27 AM

im a penguins fan but gotta love this boy carcillo, ugly hit, draw

Posted by hughcares on October 03, 2009 at 10:21 AM

Carcillo bailed on this - f*cking pussy didn't want to pay the piper. I heard Phoenix had to trade him because he kept wanting to blow Grettzky - I guess he and Cote get along great.

Posted by woodape on October 02, 2009 at 10:22 PM

I don't think it is fair or makes any sense to evict a guy from the game for coming over and dropping the gloves with a guy that just completed an illegal hit on your player. I think if the hit is clean - then go ahead and call an instigator if you want (or delay of game) but if it is a dirty hit then an instigator shouldn't be called. Let the guys stand up for each other when someone goes over the line...then clamp down on all the stupid fights last year that occurred after every clean bodycheck. A fair trade?

Posted by bruiseyoureye on October 03, 2009 at 05:54 PM

gleason with the win here....gleason plastered carcillo with 2 solid shots to tko carcillo.

Posted by DARCY T on October 31, 2009 at 06:34 AM

Posted by keshtopher on October 03, 2009 at 02:09 PM

good job gleason its a good fight at a good time for a dirty hit and with a guy who can throw them

Posted by fightgoon on October 22, 2009 at 10:35 AM

I agree with woodape. Let these guys police themselves. If you want to hit a guy illegally then you should pay a price.

Posted by MikeVee on November 20, 2009 at 01:20 AM

Wait let me take a look at this closely. I see someone getting hit from behind---and there's the Flyer jersey! Some things never change...This is the kind of play that keeps the Flyers as the doormat of the NHL elite teams. Oh, and he lost the fight of course because that's done face to face!

Posted by silent_shadow36 on January 21, 2010 at 02:37 PM

what a cheap hit, carcillo. gleason did a good job at sticking up for whitney, plus he ended up on top. W for gleason.

Posted by Detroit_Caps on October 03, 2009 at 04:01 PM

two points Carcillo for the takedown . . .that was pretty slick! Gleasons a bad ass though, I'll give him the win on spirit alone

Posted by chrisuko on October 04, 2009 at 05:14 PM

Carcillo got 2 solid quick punches in the beginning. Gleason really didnt have any standout punch in the fight. i give it to carcillo

Posted by mcb789 on October 02, 2009 at 11:07 PM

carcillo landed alot of great punches to gleason face in this fight. carcillo with the win

Posted by chad420 on October 04, 2009 at 08:23 PM

draw....cut too short

Posted by TrueBlue26 on October 03, 2009 at 10:37 AM

good job for steppin after the hit...crap fight tho

Posted by FeedingFrenzy on October 02, 2009 at 10:29 PM

They say they're cracking down on staged fights and dangerous takedowns, but Laraque didn't get kicked out of the game the other night. Gleason challenges, Carcillo accepts after a dirty, dirty hit, and somehow Gleason's the bad guy here? If you're going to allow fighting, please give me an example of a better time to do it. Zebra's on the menu tonight boys, let's go hunting!

Posted by BritishRedWing on October 03, 2009 at 12:33 AM

In my eyes, a draw. Big time respect to Gleason, standing up for his teammate who was hit from behind. As for the fight, neither one got anything going. Carcillo doing what he does best. Punk!
