Not much going on here except Bruins hype for Chara fighting. Did he go easy on Valabik or is he just overrated?

Posted by rjmont on December 14, 2008 at 11:22 PM

Landed? Swing and a miss, swing and a miss, swing and a miss... You don't get a win for not hitting someone. draw.

I think the Bruins fans are becoming more like Penguins fans with stupidity, Valabik may have been more fearful of Kessel swinging his stick than anything, crap fight

Posted by JStaal11 on March 10, 2009 at 07:18 PM

U want to talk about cheap shots... Rewatch the video, fast forward to about 1:07 and take a look at Mr. Kessel's 2 hand swing his stick at Valabik. That seemed alot cheaper than anything Valabik did. I also find it funny the he slashes him and then skates away and lets Chara do his work.

Posted by Riley32 on December 17, 2008 at 06:39 PM

why does chara always extend hid arm and hold people away. especially when he comes out of his way to start the thing. what a bitch

Posted by HazardATL on December 15, 2008 at 04:26 AM

Valabik sees Chara as a mentor and Idol.Chara actually called him to talk hockey and give advice before their game on Friday. So Im thinking Boris was shocked more than anything,as he was clearly holding back and they both just stopped at the end with their arms down.

Posted by brazos on December 16, 2008 at 03:16 PM

Of all the punches Chara threw I could not see that any landed cleanly. Valabik was pretty much holding on all the time. This was a low rated "fight" and I could not see that it was anything but a draw. Throwing punches that don't connect may be exciting to the fans but they did not do any damage. Valabik will be better as he gains experience.

Posted by Juha82 on December 14, 2008 at 02:27 PM

no punches landed by Chara no good one. a DRAW.

Posted by Avenged7_Fold on September 29, 2010 at 08:49 AM

Slovakian people are huge and know how to fight. But this one was not as good, punches weren't good.

Posted by paddyd on December 14, 2008 at 06:27 PM

What happened to all the people that were praising the bik when he fought Thorton. How fast they run when there man takes a hit.

Posted by Formerref on December 15, 2008 at 05:21 PM

I wonder if Chara's arm got hurt when Valabik swatted it!! LMFAO...

Posted by bigjcc526 on December 15, 2008 at 10:45 PM

KESSEL SHOULDN'T BE SLASHING PEOPLE CONTINUOSLY IF HE'S SCARED TO DROP THE GLOVES.One of the biggest p*****s in the league imo.Oh yeah,ez win for the freak

Posted by RykerHC on December 15, 2008 at 06:21 AM

Chara with the win here, even though I doubt his punches did significant damage. Still, he had control of the fight, with Valabik just hoping to survive this one.

Posted by Jordybats99 on February 27, 2016 at 06:45 PM

Win Zdeno Chara.

Posted by Behn Wilson on December 14, 2008 at 09:26 PM

I guess Valabik forgot that there was a bigger man lurking around while he was bullying Kessel. It seemed like Chara tried to let him off the hook after he came flying in, but Valabik dropped his gloves. Even then, it seemed like he held up on his fellow countryman.

Posted by Ensermac on January 18, 2009 at 01:17 PM

Valabik felt the need to take shots at a star player again, like he does so much. Instead of turtling like he usually does, Chara forces him to fight. Chara then precedes to give him a beating. Clear win Chara

Posted by stizzo on December 14, 2008 at 02:59 PM

when I saw Valabik vs Chara, I thought Wicked Fight! Actuality - Valabik shat the his pants. Oh well - back to the AHL with you

Posted by BAAAAANNERMAAAN on December 15, 2008 at 09:10 AM

some big dudes here........chara was in control

Posted by Gunslinger on December 14, 2008 at 08:02 PM

Valabik is a real genius. First, he goes after a non-fighter in Kessel(gutless). Then when Chara steps in, Valabik seemed completely lost, like he would have rather been anywhere else than fighting Chara(I can't really blame him). Chara with the easy(but disappointing) win. Nice to see him fighting more lately.

Posted by Ryan44 on December 14, 2008 at 03:04 PM

WIN Chara. Big slovakboys rock on!

Posted by tattooedkingpin on December 14, 2008 at 06:43 PM

Its nice to see big Z dropping the gloves again, but he crapped out at the end of this fight. Z with the narrow W

i could hear through the tv boris saying ,,GET ME OUTTA HERE!!

Posted by Bruinsbear on December 14, 2008 at 08:42 PM

good 2 see chara sticking up for kessel cuz kessel is not very physical which could make him an easy target for players who might want 2 injure kessel and take the bruins best player off the line so chara is showing everyone u mess with kessel ur gonna have 2 mess with me and nobody wants 2 mess with chara

Posted by blackgoldfan on December 16, 2008 at 07:56 PM

valabik is a big dude and chara eaisily outmusles him! chara is scary imo. not a bad idol for valbik....wonder if he asked for an autograph?

Posted by nighthawk walt on December 14, 2008 at 05:01 PM

chara landed the only significant punches, easy win.

Posted by joeye4 on December 16, 2008 at 06:33 AM

Chara with a clear victory. Not even a contest. Too big too strong

Posted by Jellyczar on December 18, 2008 at 04:22 PM

Chara wins hands down ...... stepped in as a captain should. great team player.

Posted by pmarz1 on January 02, 2009 at 10:15 AM

watched this several times..........did Valabik even land a punch???? Yet some of you just cant get yourself to vote or say something positive about a player or a team you dont like, yet again, proving to us all just how ignorant you are.

Posted by jlmcgui on January 10, 2009 at 11:45 AM

Gotta love Z coming to the defense of Kessel, WTF is with the 6'7" swinging sticks with Kessel? Good thing Z stepped in or he'd be ripped in the Boston media. Chara easily; AND I take "points away" from Valabik picking on Kessel to begin with ... man-up Boris!!!

Posted by JCeltic on December 16, 2008 at 01:33 PM

Chara with the win. Good to see him fulfilling a Captains role and stepping up for one of the younger/smaller guys.

Posted by Hockeyislyfe on December 14, 2008 at 04:56 PM

Win Goes to Chara, Two fights, in two nights, it's about time, he started fighting for his Team, just another fear factor in Boston..

Posted by FlyerPhanatic on December 18, 2008 at 01:36 PM

Chara uses his size to dominate another fight

Posted by hal29 on December 15, 2008 at 05:09 PM

wow valabik wanted no part of that total different story when e takes on someone his own size instead of 6'1 212lb thornton.thornto a great fighter but valabik is a long reach all though he handed himself well.chara totally dominated.anyone calls this a draw is an idiot a real idiot.ok maybe chara didn't land a ton not cause his appoinant was slovakian but more or less he wanted no part of chara what so eve and if he could he would of crawled under a rock he stayed as far away as possible cause he new he would get hurt valabik is real tough trying to get something started with kessel.what kessel is what 5'10-5'11.come on now lost respect on that one.good on chara's part.kessel could be an nhl leading goal scorer at this rate hottsest player nhl right now,who are the idiots that voted for valabik its bad enough that there are draws on here a win for valabik.bruin haters.people like that should be banned from voting on this ruins the whole point of voting on here, then they can't even leave comments to explain why they are ignorant stupid little shit bags...cowards if anything chara held back even if doris i mean boris was temped to throw back chara would destroy him.its a game friends fight on the ice all the time.i've seen brothers fight and best friend.i've seen friends hurt each other they have to do what they have to do its there job.just like the friends fight each and make there faces look like hamburg but they have no problem hanging out after

Posted by bltlord on December 14, 2008 at 04:55 PM

Valabik's bull$#!+ got him a visit from Chara and boy he didn't want a peice of chara.haha Don,t mess with the bruins!

Posted by J.M. on July 07, 2012 at 07:38 PM

Perhaps Valabik was too busy with the hero worship to actually try and fight? Chara has his way with him while Boris seems more interested in protecting his face than engaging. Note to Mr. Valabik; you need to throw punches to win a fight. Win, Chara.

Posted by Bruins29 on December 15, 2008 at 10:41 AM

Valabik took some liberties with Kessel, and Chara jumped in to set the record straight. Chara with the easy win here...I don't really think Valabik wanted to fight him.

Posted by Hell of a TILT on December 15, 2008 at 11:46 AM

Good to see the Captain sticking up for the little guys.......This fight should have happened on Friday; Boris thought he could manhandle all the Bruins, but Big Z set him straight! GO BRUINS!!

Posted by bruins rule on December 14, 2008 at 02:57 PM

chara with the easy win in this fight.chara is one of the toughest guys in the nhl.nice to see him stick up for kessel.

Posted by Hendo67 on December 14, 2008 at 03:03 PM

Chara with the easy W. Can't have a 6'7'' monster roughing up your leading scorer like that.

Posted by VladislavK on November 02, 2009 at 02:30 PM

Zdeno Chara... If I am correct, this is after the famous Koci vs. Chara match?? Chara is just a beat... Valabik, he's good. But Chara... Pheww.

Posted by ZiggyStardust on March 25, 2011 at 01:03 AM

Chara is boss

Posted by BsFAn4LIF on December 14, 2008 at 02:43 PM

Chara the only one to land. Win Chara

Posted by tbdangler on December 16, 2008 at 12:06 PM

Z tunes this guy up. Valabik had a truly oh $%^& moment, when he realized Chara answered the challenge. Valabik wanted nothing to do with this fight, did he even throw a punch?

Posted by peterboy on February 22, 2009 at 05:57 AM

Good boys.Valabik did not fight with big brother Chara.

Posted by Cid on December 14, 2008 at 02:44 PM

Chara sticking up for teammates... Valabik wanted no part of this fight.

The captain of the Killer B's

Posted by KesselIsGod81 on June 06, 2009 at 03:28 PM

I love this "fight". Good job by Chara for having Kessel's back.

Posted by mcb789 on December 14, 2008 at 03:51 PM

what a weak fight. i dont think any punches landed.

Posted by Barrel03 on December 15, 2008 at 10:08 AM

i called it a draw.. not really anything landing, maybe a couple but not good enough for the win in my opinion

Posted by bacon120789 on March 07, 2010 at 03:43 AM

kudos to chara for being there for kessel

Posted by heyohmama on December 14, 2008 at 05:21 PM

fritz needs to kick charas ass

Posted by mokan33 on December 15, 2008 at 01:28 PM

Chara had to stand up for Kessel, but I got the feeling that he didn't want to hurt his Slovakian friend. Draw

Posted by william_icp on December 14, 2008 at 08:14 PM

Good to see two huge guys who actually have good balance. Hated watching Steve McKenna fight a few years ago. He would fall EVERY time.

Posted by dool325 on March 26, 2009 at 11:38 AM

what a bad fight

Posted by preds321 on December 14, 2008 at 08:28 PM

I wouldn't call this a fight

Posted by sclaudius on December 16, 2008 at 07:57 PM

Did either guy land a punch

Posted by Richterfan on December 14, 2008 at 03:33 PM

Nice to see Chara step up for his skilled teamate. Win Chara and love the emotion afterwards. Unusual for any Euro to make that kind of display.

Posted by chad420 on December 15, 2008 at 08:17 PM

Big Z flying in ... teaching that joker a lesson...

Posted by tim daddy on December 15, 2008 at 12:17 PM

chara by default for all those punches on the helmet

Posted by muskokadangler on January 21, 2010 at 02:03 AM

I think Chara said I will wait till ya get your glove off!!!!! CLASSY Fighter!!

Posted by jmh6975 on March 05, 2009 at 04:03 PM

Since when do left jabs to the chin not count as punches landed?Win for chara

Posted by tomales2 on December 15, 2008 at 11:31 PM

Other than homers, how could anyone vote Valabik or even for a draw? Easy win for Chara. Oh, and hitting on the helmet is to be expected and in a real fight (w/o the helmet of course) could have great impact. What, are guys only suppose to wait until a face is directly in front of them and hold up at all other times? Idiots.
