Lucic wins this one, but the Boston TV guys are tools. People also complain about Ruutu as a dirty play who will not fighting heavy weights. Ruutu really is a middle weight, but he fought a heavy here and did ok in a loss. You can see how strong Ruutu is he was able to tie up a bigger guy and put himself in a position to win a fight. There have been heavies that have fought Lucic and not done as well as Ruutu did in this one.

Ruutu goes after Looch cause he had a broken nose, never lands a serious shot to the face, and gets beat. And for those who say he pussed out against Laraque, let it go. Lucic is NOT an enforcer, he plays on the top line for God's sake. He ignored Laraque and focused on playing hockey.

Definetly not a quality win for Lucic, who p*ssed out from Laraque. I don't want to hear the broken nose excuse because people fight with broken noses all the time, boxers fight entire matches when their nose is broken. Lucic lost a lot of respect from me for this one. I really liked him but chickening out and whining about having a visor when Laraque said lets go is way too cowardly, smart, but cowardly. Yes Lucic gets the win but kudos to Ruutu for taking on a bigger guy with a much longer reach.

Lucic didn't have much of a choice here, he was pretty much forced into this fight.....which he won

Easy, dominating win for Lucic. Ruutu only wanted to fight him because of his nose.

Ruutu tried to hold him off and tire him out, but must not have realized that Lucic is a conditioning freak.

Pretty good scrap. As much as I love Roots, gotta give it to Lucic, even tho he pussed out against Laraque. But so did Thorton in this game. One would think with an xtra 20-25 lbs and 2-3 inches Milan would have KO'd him, but Roots held his own. Ruutu couldn't get his right free or this would have been a different fight. Pens were REALLY flat that night and Lucic was doiong a little running around. ( I believe 5-1 Boston at this point) Ruutu was just sending a message. Pens aren't going to lay down. Possible playoff rematch.

even a tired lucic beat up the bigger ruttu, for you calling lucic a ***** for not fighting the 270 pound steroid case called BGL,give it a rest, thats two differant weight classes by 50 pounds, just because goerge is listen at 260,lowe said he didnt play big goerge in the playoffs because he was 275.

Ruutu made a big mistake going after Lucic. Total domination!!!

jjhawksjj - I agree 100%. Body shots? Was he expecting Ruutu to tire in the eighth round? Hitting a professional hockey player with body shots isn't going to mean anything, unless he's going to be there when the guy gets out of bed the next morning. That announcer, with his Joe Fraiser analogy, is laughable. I don't take anything away from Lucic, he's a tough kid. But Ruutu hurt him at the end. All in all, a good tactical fight. Props to Ruutu; all of the people who say he won't drop the gloves should be ashamed.

Win Lucic.

Lucic looked great in that one. Jarkko is a tough cookie, and smart- but Lucic landed the only real punches. Easy decision.

great bout. love the body shots by lucic, a real fighter there. kid is all heart. so is ruutu. they wore themselves out good. lucic has to protect his beak, which he did, but at the same time needs to deliver heavy shots, which he did. ruutu wanted out after 30 seconds. not to take anything away from ruutu, he's a character guy and will hang in there and take his shots. GREAT fight.

HOWEVER, somebody please jaw-jack that horrid announcer. worse than a high school announcer on cable access.

Lucic got this one. The body blows didn't seem to matter but the fists that connected were very effective. I would have loved to have seen Ruutu in a blow for blow bout with Lucic without all the grabbing and swing around. It looked to me as if Lucic didn't want to fight that night. He backed down from BGL and tried to avoid even Ruutu. It may or may not have been coaches orders but this is not Lewis, its Julien behind the bench. The broken nose excuse never washed with me. I've seen the best fight and win hurt or injured. I hope Lucic remembers who wore his No 17 at one time. I'll give him some slack once since he's only 19. Plus even if he didn't want to fight he still won.

OMG, that announcer is soooo irritating. What is he? The fight doctor? homer doesn't begin to describe that clown.

Anyway, total domination by Milan. Love to see either of the Ruutu's get their butt kicked. Grueling, grueling fight.
