so nice to see someone in a Red Wings uniform drop the glooves....i know Downey has his flaws but he's a big step from the "we'll do it without a tough guy" strategy from last year.

good bout edge Downey

Downey, one of the circuits lesser enforcers gets the "W" in a fight with big Kyle Mclaren whose always done well when he drops them. Mclaren threw 2 dangerous looking haymakers but Downey landed well and won the fight. Good to see a big blueliner drop them.............like the not so old days.

Nice fight right there. The announcer had said Downey landed a good first shot before the camera panned over. So by that time Mclaren started throwing some pretty good shots. That left that Downey connected looked pretty powerful. McLaren just didn't look like he was inflicting much damage. Where as Downey seamed to throw some hard shots. And if the refs weren't there to break it up. Downey probably could have continued to reign down shots. Good fight. But I give the "W" to Downey here. Maybe some of the Wings fans here will finally stop complaining about no fights. When we have had several already, only 8 games in.

I was at the game and was a nice scrap. I'm sur Downey was answering the call for a hit that McLaren gave on Drake earlier in the game. McLaren started off well, but Downey pulls through in the end by a nose.

Nice to see the sweaters are so sturdy

McLaren isn't much of a fighter but he landed some good ones. Despite Downey being smaller he wins this one.

Not a clear domination by Downey, but i think this was a clear win to him.
He landed a few effective ones and bloodied bit Mclaren.
A good show.

McLaren got the one uppercut in but it looked like his punches missed. Downey landed 4-5 punches and got the take down.

Good showing by Downey against the bigger McLaren.

I am very concerned about Downey and Drake getting severely injured. They are valiant warriors but are too small. The Red Wing Organization has no decency since Probert and Kocur were their to protect their teammates. Buy the way Downey edged out his bigger foe.

Downey wins on points. The new jerseys suck.

This was a good fight. but you really need to include the check McLaren landed on Drake to understand what was happening.
If you're counting the winner as the guy who lands on top, sure, Downy was the winner. But both guys landed good shots. Downy ends up whipping McLaren around and that's when McLaren goes down. Not by a punch.

Pretty good effort from both of them but decision to Downey. Id like to see them go again.

Couple of ex-B's ... miss McLaren in Beantown ... but that's what happens when you speak out ... they send you to a better place.

Downey out-pointed the bigger McLaren.
