Love Simmonds' toughness and willingness to throw down when he knows he has to. He can play on my team any day. Win Wayne

I may be the only one who caught this... But tough guy good ole Steve Ott is right there to address the situation when it happened but he just turned away from Simmonds. Gatta love Ott, wheres his boyfriend Avery when you need him too?

Cheap hit by Simmonds goes unpenalized. Nobody tough on the ice, so Weber has to step up. Simmonds lucky Scott wasn't out there.

Win Simmonds. But way too many Flyers homers on here.

Nobody on Philly with the balls to go with Scott.

Not really a dirty hit since Simmonds was already in the process of checking when Ennis turned his back. It kills me to stand up for Simmonds but if you still frame it at 1:02 Ennis is still looking forward and Simmonds is leaning in for the check. Weber lost but I give him credit for standing up for a check he thought was dirty.

Simmons throws a clean hit
only made dirty by an awkward
last minute Ennis turn
and then
waits for the inevitable response
makes sure that it's not Scott
and proceeds to beat the living crap
out of a well intentioned
yet hopelessly under qualified
Weber

Weber jumps in after Simmonds but turns into a punching bag. Those long looping rights to the ear must sting a lot.

Ennis with the most retarded play in hockey history. Why in gods name would you turn your back to Simmonds at that moment? He deserved to get his neck crushed just for sheer stupidity.

Meanwhile, Mike Weber keeps regressing as a fighter. It's hilarious that he picked up the instigator package yet he's also the one that got his face caved in.

Simmonds punishes Weber and then lets him off the hook by keeping him on the ice. Great start to the fight by Simmonds who looked casual, but was swinging in an instant.

I like Simmonds but that was still a questionable hit...
Even though Ennis turned on the play, Simmonds had enough time to let up.
Weber got knocked down when he took one to the side of his head.
I'm guessing a one game suspension from Shanny.

Mike Weber going after the rich man's Joel Ward? Really? Simmonds is the most underrated player (and fighter) in the NHL. That was a noble, but stupid decision. Easiest win I've seen in a bit. SImmonds, 6.

@Bouli, why was Simmonds lucky that Scott wasn't on the ice? Scott is a waste of a roster spot and a further indication of why the Sabres have won nothing in forever. Scott is useless, Simmonds is a great player, a tough hombre and a gamer under any circumstance. The hit wasn't penalized and Weber got what he had coming. Period. As for Ott, well we all know his deal. #mouthpiece #allbarknobite.

1. That little ugly gnome Ennis shouldn't have turned into the hit, thats how many of these "hits from behind" happen.

2. Win Simmonds, but Philly needs an enforcer, Simmonds is a decent middleweight but he's no much for the true fighters in this league. He is lucky it was that clown weber that came calling and not someone like Scott.

Great scorer , great fighter. Thank you LA Kings. Weber got the jump but not the win.

I'm actually a Sabres fan and the hit may have been a touch dirty, but that Simmonds is my kind if hockey player. Weber goes after him and rightly so, but just gets punished. Awesome power by Simmonds.
