Volpatti may have bitten off more than he could chew but gains respect by hanging in there against a bigger and arguably meaner opponent When Reaves throws like that he's fairly unstoppable I look forward to the inevitable Reaves-Bordeleau showdown

Good spirited bout win Reaves

Posted by sedinfan on February 18, 2013 at 12:18 AM

Nuckles88 must be a Canucks fan too, but this Canuck fans sees a win by Reaves, not sure how Volpatti could have won that. Regardless of the differing opinions, it was a good fight.

Love Volpatti's heart agians the much bigger guy. Volpatti is eventually going to have to use some defense in his fights against these bigger guys but he's got a good chin and heavy hands, so I guess he's willing to take his chances. Hey 777Big, are you even able to wipe your own ass because you must not have 4 brain cells to bang together?

Posted by staceyb on February 18, 2013 at 06:45 AM

Reaves got the better of V-pat in that one, thank you for the words Panger.

Posted by digitalroc on March 19, 2013 at 11:39 PM

How can anyone give the bout to Volpatti, unless you are a Vancouver homer, come on guys, get your blue shaded glasses off. Even Johnny Canuck gave the W to Reaves. lol

Posted by ferdip on February 18, 2013 at 01:06 PM

not bad not good

Posted by nait on February 18, 2013 at 04:16 PM

I love how Patti jumped in then bailed out. Too bad the Bruins and canucks won't be matching up in the regular season. Maybe patti would learn how to really fight

Posted by DARCY T on February 19, 2013 at 06:49 AM

win reaves but volpatti did a good job against stronger opponent.

Posted by canamrugby on February 19, 2013 at 12:49 AM

Expected more from Reaves here.

Posted by legion31 on February 18, 2013 at 08:28 AM

Reaves with the win !

Canucks are among the team leaders in fights this year, but they've lost just about all of them. This one was no exception: Volpatti was lucky that one of Reaves' bombs didn't do some damage.

Posted by fernben8 on February 18, 2013 at 01:48 PM

Man...this Reaves can really fight. I'd put him in the same category as Thornton of the Bruins or the Leaf's Orr (that's saying a lot ). Props to Volpatti for hangin` in there...

Posted by scorp1on on February 18, 2013 at 06:59 AM

Volpatti has some skills but not enough to do anything to Reaves. Reaves with the win.

Posted by bammer24 on February 18, 2013 at 12:18 AM

Looks like Reaves might have connected the more solid shots thats why Volpatti faded then with the push.Good go.Canucks need more like this guy.

Posted by o0o_dEjAvU_o0o on February 19, 2013 at 01:51 AM

@nait .. I'm not even looking forward to see a bruin canuck fight.. Bruins?.. Seriously??? Lol thorton had a concussion from scotts punches.. Campbell?? You must be kidding... Lol he cant even win with 2 unknown fighters.. Kaleta??.. You must be sleeping one of bruin player to be that blind.

Posted by BritishRedWing on February 18, 2013 at 06:44 PM

Win Reaves, and a very good showing by Volpatti. Props to both.

Posted by Oil Can Henry on February 18, 2013 at 02:30 PM

...big punch-out win for Reaves -- had total disregard for Volpatti's offense --- the take-down's just a bail-out move,....

Posted by pvdrummer2000 on February 18, 2013 at 11:12 PM

Reaves just absolutely hammered Volpatti. Nice fight.

Posted by chad420 on February 18, 2013 at 10:36 AM

Good bout...win Reaver

Posted by claire alexande on February 20, 2013 at 04:01 PM

Volpatti gets destroyed by the much better fighter. LOL at nuck fans praising him for "hanging in there"...kind of like how Iraq "hung in there" in Desert Storm.

Posted by KDR398 on February 19, 2013 at 10:35 PM

As a 'nuck fan I should vote for AV because of the take down at the end(like so many that post here do), but RR clearly won. Good scrap and good for AV for hanging tough against a bigger and better opponent.

Posted by Radiotalker on February 18, 2013 at 11:53 AM

All Reaves in this one. Those who vote for AV need to learn the game. Managing to land on top does not = win.

Posted by HchVegasNHL57 on February 18, 2013 at 05:19 AM

Entertaining tilt. Reaver with the dub. Nucks may lose fights but atleast they are dropping em often. Give them credit for that.

Posted by SouthPaw017 on February 18, 2013 at 02:54 PM

Even as a Cansuck hater, I can still be impartial... Volpatti clearly has some skills, hung in there, and fared better than most would have thought... I think Reaves gets the nod here, but as Viperbob noted, it's about time he woke up, he hasn't been impressive as of late. Are the Cansucks trying to reinvent themselves this year?? They are dropping them more, and faring somewhat better, but still more of a finess team and don't have a dominant enforcer... I think that's the nicest post I've ever had about them... Anyone seen CustomBrokeBack????

Posted by GreatMurray on February 18, 2013 at 11:48 PM

Lots of punches but nothing solid landed. Reaves gets the win.

Posted by Bakes923 on February 23, 2013 at 04:41 PM

Good scrap, both landed shots, but Reaves is a beast and landed more, and better shots,Reaves with the heavyweight victory here!!

Posted by kleptothief on February 24, 2013 at 08:11 AM

RR kinda reminds me of a smaller righthanded mini george leROCK! hes got the boxing skill set , hardly loses any fights

Posted by datafortress on February 18, 2013 at 06:02 AM

Dominating win by Reaves! Volpatti with the typical Canucks turtle dance.

Posted by rleggs00 on February 18, 2013 at 07:53 PM

Nice hammers by Reaves

Posted by lb1631 on February 18, 2013 at 10:55 AM

Reaves no question about it.

Posted by brazos on February 18, 2013 at 02:28 PM

Certainly no mismatch as they are the same height and Reaves is only 9 lbs heavier. Win reaves, but a very energetic fight and Volpatti held his own for the most part. To say it was a mismatch is incorrect.

Posted by bruins rule on March 22, 2013 at 03:48 PM

reaves gets the win.

Posted by fastbyfrisco on February 22, 2013 at 04:44 PM

Nasty Reaves, thought Volpatti looked good in the beginning, had some jump in his step, just to get it beat out of him.

Posted by Mosie Ledbetter on February 21, 2013 at 04:04 PM

Once they got down to business that was a brief but intense scrap. Volpatti hung in there, but clear win for Reaves.

Posted by Viperbob on February 18, 2013 at 12:20 AM

Reaves finally wakes up.

Posted by unvy on February 18, 2013 at 11:04 AM

Kelly Chase, color commentator for St. Louis radio, "I don't miss that part of playing.." that was some heavy shit by Reaves.. Credit to Volpatti for hanging in there.

Posted by hughtrain on February 18, 2013 at 12:27 AM

Reaves with the clear win....landing blow after blow and Volpatti eventually turtles and does the only thing he can (dumps Reaves) to stop the pounding

Posted by mjb_17 on February 18, 2013 at 11:12 PM

Not even close for the people who voted for Volpatti. Obviously Canuck fans who don't know much about hockey.

Posted by kingpintoo on March 04, 2013 at 12:33 AM

Reaves landed way more.

Posted by Bluesfan72 on February 18, 2013 at 04:21 PM

Good fight but clear win by Reaves.

Posted by bluesrule on February 18, 2013 at 12:24 AM

great bout here two big boys fighting throwing some bombs but the grim reaver won this one

Posted by 777Big on February 18, 2013 at 08:46 AM

Another ass-kicking for the pus*y nuckettes.....and they lost. A good night. Bigger?.....according to this site, Reaves is the same height and weighs less than ten pounds more.

Posted by Scotland blue on March 06, 2013 at 08:18 AM

Reaves for me , easy

Posted by Bloodbank on February 18, 2013 at 05:53 PM

Reaves with the win though he was bleeding afterwards.

Posted by jnk07899 on February 18, 2013 at 11:07 AM

I thought Volpatti was going to get murdered, but he held his own, and for that, I give him props.

Posted by FHgrad99 on February 18, 2013 at 12:16 AM

Volpatti fared much better in this fight than I thought he would. Both guys landed some shots but Reaves got a couple of unanswered shots in late before they went down. I gave Reaves a slight edge in a good fight.

Posted by AC1026 on February 18, 2013 at 07:14 AM

Volpatti hangs in there. Reaves threw some good ones. Draw for me.

Posted by rowbearprobear on February 18, 2013 at 07:01 AM

6.5 and a draw. Could give it to RR if I had to pick a winner. Both guys landed a few good ones.

Posted by Shoeman72 on February 18, 2013 at 02:12 AM

Good on Volpatti to drop them with one of the toughest guys in the league. This kids got guts and is one Canuck that can actually fight. Shots landed both ways in a good fight. draw

Posted by kkdowning on February 18, 2013 at 08:38 AM

Surprising that a Canuck showed some guts. Reaves with the win.

Posted by Custombreaks on February 18, 2013 at 04:50 PM

Volpatti landed the only punch on the the big Ape. No marks on Volpatti.

Posted by ryanjs2004 on February 18, 2013 at 12:12 PM

It always refreshing waking up, firing up the laptop, scrambling to hockeyfights.com to watch another another Canuck get the crap beaten out of him. Why is it that Vancouver is the most hated team in the NHL not only by the hockey fans but also by other teams? Is it because of their gahayy fans? The twins? Burrows? Kessler?

Posted by ripster on February 18, 2013 at 12:36 AM

good on volpatti again. Impressing yet again on a much larger reeves. People on this site are idiots. Volpatti did not turtle what so ever. He got jersey'd. And if you saw reeves go to the box.... his face was red and marked up pretty good, no cuts but definitely some bruising. draw

Posted by nuckles88 on February 18, 2013 at 12:03 AM

Equal shots landed, volpatti with the takedown of the much bigger man reaves. Win volpatti
