No fight here...Carkner should beat Neil in practice. Ottawa is an Indian name for assholes..

Posted by tpr1960 on January 22, 2011 at 12:54 PM

What fight you morons ? Nothing happened . And if you wrote the word 'Turtle" your mom is a lesbo.

Posted by hockeyfreak667 on January 21, 2011 at 02:13 AM

There is no way in hell either of them deserve fighting majors and misconducts for this. Roughing to Carkner, perhaps... maybe even a 10-minute misconduct, but that's a stretch. The ref abused his authority just to get Carkner and O'Donnell out of the game and, as such, I can only rate this a draw.

Posted by chrisuko on January 21, 2011 at 12:01 AM

it simply wasn't

Posted by Sapunka16 on January 21, 2011 at 12:07 AM

Nothing really happens. O'Donnell can't get his left glove off and grip Carkner, so he leans away. Carkner throws a right at O'Donnell's back. O'Donnell finally throws his left glove off, but is in a real bad position and falls down. This one never got going.

Posted by tattooedkingpin on January 21, 2011 at 11:35 AM

O'Donnell gets punched in his Vagina and immediately turtles.....

Posted by Behn Wilson on January 21, 2011 at 09:39 PM

Carkner tries to take out his, and his team's frustrations on a wisely- unwilling O'Donnell.

Posted by Flyersfan4life2 on January 22, 2011 at 12:57 AM

First, odonnell didnt want to fight carkner. He went after him to get carkner off the ice so he wouldnt go after one of our star players, and also good job by carkner as well for showing class. He earned a couple points in my book Second, i love how the announcers say that shelly turned down the fight with the big boy. Maybe its because neil went after giroux earlier in the game and he did his job for sticking up for one of his players. Morons. And its not really out of neils weight class, the guy has fought almost everyone in the league. I also heard that the ottawa announcers called giroux a goon? Really? I forgot, giroux fights every game. I thought there supposed to know hockey in canada.

Posted by Leafs2006 on January 21, 2011 at 06:04 PM

BooHoo announcers with the weight class excuse, every excuse in the book, Neil got hammered again...biggest P.O.S in the league, and also good to see Yarko 2 fruits get pummled by Hartnell. Typical hockey night in Ottawa, lose the game, and lose the fights....Woof Woof!

Posted by blazers76 on January 21, 2011 at 03:40 PM

He who turtles loses, ALWAYS.

Posted by cup4theflyers on January 21, 2011 at 09:27 AM

O'Donnell used to be a tough chunk of meat, now he's just a tough piece of gristle. He knows that if he doesn't get off to a good start here, he can get hurt, so he drops his walker, and re-enacts to Medi-lert commercial ("Help, I've fallen and I can't get up!"). Carkner with the win for helping O'Donnell to the ice...

Posted by billy jack on January 21, 2011 at 03:21 AM

O'donnel turtled,enough said.

Posted by b.t.wilson on January 21, 2011 at 10:06 PM

yeah, there is no reason carkner and o'donnell ever should have dropped the gloves, o'donnell is a tough old man and there is nothing to hold against him for what he did. most every person on this site, including myself, especially myself, there would've been a fetal man and a big pool of yellow on the ice if carkner dropped the gloves in front of you. i like carkner and he's having a stellar year, but do i ever hate when heavyweights drop the mitts with people nowhere near their weight class. pronger and carkner? is that a joke? it has to be...

Posted by rocky 1 on January 21, 2011 at 02:15 PM

Smart thing for ODonnell to do by going down at his age although he is a pretty tough guy!

Posted by boldbilly on January 21, 2011 at 10:47 AM

Carkner shows class by not beating up the geriatric O'Donnell I know he was going to take a beating but he looked real bad the way he turtled. Shelley was avoiding Carkner and that was equally embarrasing. Let's not forget the visor wearing coward Hartnell he looked real tough fighting a Finn .

Posted by McCunn8585 on January 21, 2011 at 09:03 AM

Embarrassing win for Carkner.

Posted by acd1 on January 21, 2011 at 12:16 PM

KD win Carks

Posted by jbaktai on January 21, 2011 at 12:52 AM

I like O'donnel but i didnt like him turtling here, it was prob for the best but hey everyone has to take a beating once in a while right? Even George Laraque got dropped by Brashere a couple years ago. Win Carkner

Posted by GarthButcher on January 23, 2011 at 03:51 AM

That was on the Teenage Mutant Ninja tip, but you can't blame O'Donnell, he's got all those grandchildren to think about!

Posted by Willy WILL on January 21, 2011 at 07:57 AM

O"Donnell turtles... pussy... Why was he put out there? To get Carkner away from Sheelley.... Puss Puss Laviolette.... Domination Carkner... how can anyone vote for O"Donnell?

Posted by noodle44 on January 21, 2011 at 01:18 PM

O'Donnell is the type of guys that would do this just to get carkner out of the game to protect his teammates from him running around. I am still surprised he went down so easy though without putting up a fight.

Posted by Double Nickels on January 21, 2011 at 12:25 AM

I'm not going to call covering up there a turtle. You can't assume that the lineman will protect you when there are other fights going on. It doesn't look good, but it's not a turtle.

Posted by Bluetiedown44 on January 21, 2011 at 02:35 AM

Carkner with class here, I really have come to admire him this year. O'Donnell avoids injury, he has proven his courage over his career. Shelley should not have but his teammate in this position. Tony Twist often said, "The biggest, meanest guy on the other team wants to beat you up, that is your job." Because of his size O'Donnell has grabbed and held some of the toughest fighters of his era. This looked bad. Roughing for Carkner is all that was warranted.

Posted by GreatMurray on January 21, 2011 at 10:40 PM

O'Donnell taps out without fighting. Carkner can't get it on with Shelley so he slaps a non-fighter down. Come on dude you are better than that. How did O'Donnell get a penalty for hiding under his helmet. The Ottawa announcers suck at calling fights!

Posted by Estaban89 on January 21, 2011 at 08:33 AM

haha turtle

Posted by KnockoutDan on January 20, 2011 at 11:15 PM

O'Donnell does the turtle turtle yeah yeah yeah.....

Posted by WillyWillSucks on January 21, 2011 at 09:04 AM

I'm just here to point out how annoying WillyWIll's absolute butthurtness in all these Sens/Flyers fight threads are. What a punk. This fight sucked though, poor O'Donnell.

Posted by Markamp on January 21, 2011 at 11:10 AM

You can blame this one on Shelby - is he not supposed to be the Philly heavyweight? Absolute PUSSY! I hope they cut his ass and send him down to the "A" - what does he think he's here for - his skill level?

Posted by McDonald19 on January 21, 2011 at 11:24 AM

O'Donnell has been a warrior in this league for a long time. He was smart enough to know it was a good idea to bail out of this fight and avoid being KO'd by a top 5 fighter.

Posted by The DZA on January 21, 2011 at 04:37 AM

Vanilla Ice's "Turtle Rap" was very underrated. GO NINJA GO NINJA GO!

Posted by youthattack on January 21, 2011 at 09:08 AM

o'donnell is a gutsy old man, but he is no match from carkner. win carkner.

Posted by BooSanta on January 21, 2011 at 05:38 PM

Wrong guy Carks. this was the only thing wrong with the whole night. Let Old'onnel take on Neil for a more even matchup. I'm surprised a grizzled vet like Olds would turtle like that instead of taking his lumps. Carker should have been fighting Shelley. Flyer and Senator fans can petition for it in their next meeting. I'm sure they'll be up for it from a faceoff the next time.

Posted by bruins rule on January 21, 2011 at 07:10 AM

carkner gets the win here.

Posted by rowbearprobear on January 21, 2011 at 07:30 PM

Lost a lot of respect for the cowardly Irishman. Too much respect is being given too him. And where was Shelley? To go with Neil and (according to guys on this site) run from Carkner all night is so bush league. Neil is an absolute warrior who would never pull that turtle crap. At least he fights. By the way, I hate both of these teams equally!

Posted by MikeVee on January 21, 2011 at 01:04 AM

Big time turtle by O'Donnell

Posted by fernben8 on January 21, 2011 at 11:34 PM

Despite throwing O'Donnell to the ground, Carkner shows some well deserved respect to the veteran. Liked the tap on the back.

Posted by ProffessorSteve on January 21, 2011 at 05:53 PM

Shelley won't fight Carkner so he Carkner finds O Donnell and makes him turtle! The End.

Posted by johnnyrock555 on January 21, 2011 at 05:41 PM

Not a fight.

Posted by revolver on January 21, 2011 at 09:48 AM

1 medium strength punch from Carkner and this one is over REAL fast. O'Donnell must have seen how well the turtle worked for Giroux earlier in the game. Shelley/Carkner and Neil/O'Donnell would have made a lot more sense, but since Shelley was too scared to fight Carkner this is how the matchups worked out.

Posted by joeye4 on January 21, 2011 at 08:21 AM

not much of a fight. Carkner should have taken someone else. ODonnell has too many years under his belt to be fighting one of the best int he league at this point.

Posted by DARCY T on January 21, 2011 at 06:14 AM

i really dont know how to rate this one.odonnell dropped the gloves and bailed out.but its good to see him dropping the gloves anyway at his age

Posted by staceyb on January 21, 2011 at 06:06 AM

Carkner really earned his pay last night, taking down a 39 year old man. AARP should file a class action law suit against him.

Posted by hughcares on January 21, 2011 at 12:36 PM

Gotta love Cockner patting O'Donnell on the back while he is turtling - "don't worry old man I won't hurt you anymore".

Posted by rforjr on January 21, 2011 at 09:25 AM

Turtle = TKO. Hard to tell, but as quickly as O'Donnell went down it looked like Carkner might have freed up his left for a sneaky little pop in O'Donnell's mug. O'Donnell should ask Shelley if he had a nice time with Neil while he was getting pounded.

Posted by zonahockeyfan on January 21, 2011 at 12:05 PM

Sean O'Donnell can thank Shelley the coward for having to take this fight. Carkner tried to go Shelley twice but he wouldn't go, Carkner even dropping his gloves once (and taking a minor) which resulted in some boo's from the home Philly crowd. Shelley decided to take on Neil instead, lol. This wasn't much of a fight but was some serious domination, haven't seen a turtle like that in a while, good for Carkner laying off when he realized it was a lame fight. W Carkner. Lots of scraps in this game!

Posted by jgutz20 on February 14, 2011 at 02:45 PM

Shelley picking on a little guy! props to O'Donnell taking on the big guy but Carkner was just too much for him to handle. What an explosion of fights on the ice! i'm an NHL fan but watch mostly Western Conf and i had no idea there was this much bad blood between Ottawa and Phili.

Posted by bruiseyoureye on January 21, 2011 at 10:05 PM

carkner pummeled and walloped that filthbag flyer and beat him to the ice with a huge KO........easy win over the philthadelphia fairy on skates.

Posted by durka on January 28, 2011 at 01:49 PM

didnt see this fight rly. so i'm goin draw

Posted by blackngold on January 24, 2011 at 09:29 PM

Expected better from the old man. Would've loved to see this fight.

Posted by rocky7482 on January 21, 2011 at 09:29 AM

O'Donnell the turtle = a KO for Carkner.....flyers seem to be full of turtles and chickens (Shelley).....why isn't the supposed 'tough guy' Pronger on the ice to take on Carkner. He's always a tough guy when his opponent is smaller and easily dominated.

Posted by BritishRedWing on January 21, 2011 at 04:51 PM

Win Carkner. That is the first time that I have ever seen O'Donnell quit. But I don't know if Carkner really tagged him or what, the angle didn't really show the whole "fight'. I hope I am mistaken as I've always liked O'Donnell and respected his fighting skills.

Posted by chad420 on January 21, 2011 at 11:09 AM

win MC Hammer

Posted by biglite351 on January 21, 2011 at 02:20 PM

"O'Donnell" must be Celtic for 'turtle"

Posted by goody72 on January 22, 2011 at 12:16 AM

10 yrs ago, would have been a different story. O' Donnell fought the top heavyweights. Not now at almost 40 yrs old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by AbuNidal on January 21, 2011 at 10:13 AM

Carkner shows some class and doesn't pound him. O Donnell should send a grievance to the players union against Shelley (who, in defence probably realized as things were turning into a shmozzle, he better take Neil out of the equation ((who doesn't have the class of Carkner)), as well as being easier!!)

Posted by Montana on January 21, 2011 at 07:35 PM

OD turtled, wow.

Posted by bigdog2007 on January 21, 2011 at 02:46 AM

Where was Shelley? Oh that's right, hiding his vagina from Carkner.
