The best part of this fight is that OV is a natural left hander, and didn't once throw a left 😂

Posted by LAKings1991 on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

The kid started a fight he couldn't finish. You can clearly tell he knows he's in a fight and it's not Ovechkin's fault he got the mitts off first.

Posted by capsboss on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

pucman is a dewsh. The kid wanted to cement himself inside the Russian nhl mafia. Thought Ovi can't fight, they would flail at each other and clinch and fall. He got dropped. Won't be the last time somebody takes some knuckles. 8 wasn't stalking anybody. Fools...

Posted by Devilsadvocate on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

Boy, a lot of butthurt 'Cane fans here. Your boy tried to be a tough guy, bit off more than he could chew. Was knocked the fcuk out. End of story.

Posted by Middog4201 on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

I give the youngster credit for dropping the mitts. Ovi isnt some big bad fighter but has size advantage and svechnikov could have declined or turtled. Its unfortunate when someone gets KO'd but really its hockey this shit happens. Ovi's earned his right of passage for this one.

Posted by pucman on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

It’s funny the video starts there and doesn’t show ovechkin stalking the kid with a couple butt ends, xcheck and slash. The kid had no choice at that point but answer yes. Ovechkin a pick your spot piece of crap and hope he gets his in the end.

Posted by Dreadnok41 on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

bigd1 is a dumbass. Let's focus on the fight, which the kid asked for, because that's the purpose of this site. Keep the crying for your social media. Svech asked for the fight, OV gave it fair. It was a good fight without any cheap shots. Svech's big brother wants to go with OV next, fingers crossed for another good fight.

Posted by guardian29 on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

What was Svechnikov thinking? He is a 19 year old kid, with his team up 1-0 at the time of the fight, challaning a veteran that is 6 foot 3 235 lbs. for what reason? I hope the kid is okay, Ovechkin in a dominating win that should not have taken place in the first place.

Posted by bigd1 on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

Pretty sad to watch a 40 year old man beat up a kid. Always fights when he knows he is going to win coward beating up kids. I have seen big guys slap the kids around and give face washes but to knock a kid out. OV you suck I lost respect for you bitch.

Posted by Jayblades on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

If you can catch the video leading up to the fight you can see Svechnikov say "Let's Go". Ovi just obliged to give him what he was asking for, a concussion. Poor decision making skills all around. His brother will get his too next season....

Posted by bigbadbruins02 on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

This announcer he wasn't a "Homie" was he...What was he watching "The Cane's Are Perfect Channel".What A Maroon.Alex with a Clear Cut Win..Andrei when you get a chance go back and get "Your Balls" you left them on the ice somewhere.Lol.

Posted by hal29 on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

What did ovechkin do wrong here? Absolutely nothing. It is hockey. He did not slam his head into the ice. The momentum brought them down. Svechbikov went limp. Not ovechkin's problem.

🤣🤣 I bet those votes for SvenKOd had a PA IP address 🤣🤣

Posted by Jujuman on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

Svechnikov picked someone WAY too big for him and paid the price. He was out before he hit the ice.

Posted by Hennley on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

I'm a 'Canes fan, and I'm trying to figure out why Svech would challenge a bigger, stronger, heavier, and more experienced Ovi...not sure that was a smart move. AND, while I love the 'Canes announcers, I don't see Ovi slamming anyone's head into the ice...Svech fell back and his head hit the surface, no intent or motion by Ovi to push him down, he just held on. After a 5-0 ass whoppin' though, and this incident, game 4 should be a humdinger!

Posted by Old Grouch on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

I've never been a fan of Ovechkin & never will be. I will always believe that this guy is on steroids and I pray that someone exposes him one day. I also hope that someone feeds him his lunch & soon.

Ovechkin has been dirty his whole career and deserves a beat down, but he decides to drop the gloves with a non-fighter 19-year old. What a proud moment for Caps fans.....

Posted by WattyB on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

Ovi can throw hands, period

Posted by leon stickle on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

Uh, W-Ovechkin?

Posted by jfernandez on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

Boy, Ovechkin is a toughee...like he never slashes other players but he's going to have a MENSTRUAL moment against a 19 year old rookie with no fight experience in the NHL. Ovi is just pissed off because the kid has more goals than him. BTW, the knock out that really counts is how the Canes not only kept Ovechkin off the scoresheet, but every Caps player. (I'm sure Ovi would have preferred a goal instead of a knock-out punch.)

Posted by Jaxdave on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

2 Votes for Andrei Svechnikov winning the fight and 2 votes saying it was a draw. How many blind members does this site have again?

Posted by Jim02351 on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

Throw some sass at a guy you'd better be able to stand up when the time comes. Svechnikov said the wrong thing to the wrong guy and paid for it. As an aside, I finally found an announce who's more of a whiny homer than Jack Edwards. Guys got slo-mo and still calls Ovechkin for hitting Svechnikov on the way down.

Posted by pitt29 on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

Ovi wrecked him. These Canes announcers are an complete joke LMAO

Posted by dgeary109 on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

Embarrassing

Posted by DuderInk666 on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

Well, this is the 1st Knockout I have posted. Wow, Ovie just walloped this kid. Do I feel bad? Of course, but hey, this is the hard side off the game. No Brindamour is running around saying Svechie didnt want to fight. Well, it sure looked like it on the film. Dude better learn how to not leave his face ide open in the future. Ovie is a class guy but even he is going to smack the shyt out of you if you come at him. Oive with the TKO. (Who the heck voted Svechie to win? I thought LSD was hard to find these days? Guess not.)

Posted by IncoherentScreeching on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

These announcers should be ashamed. They couldn't have been more wrong in their "analysis." KOvi answered this kid's challenge, they BOTH were throwing rights at each other. It's not like Ovechkin was wailing away at a guy who was trying to cover up. The second and third right jabs that Ovechkin threw landed SQUARE on the chin of the 19 year old, and the kid collapsed. Ovechkin reacted as quickly as he could and tried to pull back the final punch which did NOT connect. He also, in no way, pushed his head down on the ice. If anything, he avoided falling on top of him and immediately let go and got up following the KO. He did everything right here, and for a fight between two non-fighters, this was incredibly entertaining. Even if it didn't end in a KO, it would've been a great fight based on the way they were both throwing those rights at each other. Great fight and a fantastic ending. Ovechkin's showing was vastly better than his last fight against Dubinsky. This was about the only positive thing that came out of this game for the Capitals.

Posted by JPanas2 on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

Kid got dropped. Happens. Not the end of the world, but I will say this...Ovi said in the post-game, "He asked me to fight and said 'lets go'" so they fought. Should be the same if someone like Michael Ferland asks Ovi to fight too then, right? I'm a fan of Ovi and the way he plays. Always have been. But I've seen him hit people real hard and I've seen others "ask him to fight" yet he's not always so willing. In fact, he almost never is...

Posted by prowler on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

ovi is a pit bull- tank...ov didn't want to fight the kid the kid pushed and got knocked out...simple

Posted by clipper98 on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

2 face punches and down he goes

Posted by thew2589 on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

Absolute dominant performance from Ovechkin, KTFO! 🥊

Posted by bolton510 on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

Why did you do that? Ovechkin isn't a fighter, but he's tough!

Posted by Avalanche1995 on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

Amazing

Posted by mcgreger on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

alex last punch with the kids rear end practly on the ice and alex's weight adding to the head ice collision = possible concussion. its such a split second thing so i guess you cant blame alex, don't like alex but being fair.

Posted by DanielleinDC on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

Ovi did not ram Svechnikov's head into the ice. The momentum of Svechnikov falling as Ovi hit him made it look worse than it was. Ovi grabbing his jersey probably prevented him from hitting the ice harder. Svech messed with the wrong guy.

Posted by nait on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

This announcer is an absolute homer and the 1% of you who voted otherwise are too. Ovechkin did nothing wrong (I just died a little inside). He never went through with the final punch after Svechnikov went out and I can’t blame him for them falling. Good job by both Ove got the jaw and the TKO

Posted by GreatMurray on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

Not sure why Svechnikov would want this fight....It was a one punch knockout for sure...I saw no evidence that Ovechkin tried to drive his head into the ice...moronic call by the TV guy....total bullshit!

Posted by martinhickey on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

Wow. Go Caps! B

Posted by wahoodoss on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

Andrei asked for it, and Ovie, in only his fourth fight, delivered.

Posted by mpagano22 on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

I have no idea who the clowns that voted for Andrei or a draw are, but your blind as bats. A little boy wanted to play in the big sandbox and got it handed to him. Not even close.

Posted by sixclocks on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

did not hit him on the way down. announcers were wrong.

Posted by fourpoints on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

...lets wait a few more Ovechkin fights to see if he ever takes on a legit fighter (instead of a playoff-fighting-scrub), before we go handing out ratings of 8's and 9's. I gave this a 6, and that may be too high. Remember, guys that NEVER fight (like Svechnikov) always risk becoming a "mop for the floor".

Posted by Ekki on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

No idea what the (obviously biased) sportscaster was on about. It wasn't like Ovi was pounding Svechnikov when he was (down and out) on the ice. He KOed him and then both guys fell. So what?

Posted by Mistah Cawlson on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

Wow. Ovechkin with the win by knockout. A great fight by both players, although obviously Ovi performed much better. Respect to Svechnikov for attempting to get his team energized. I think he was expecting a to come out of this with a few cuts/bruises, but I don’t think he expected to get knocked out. I hope the kid is alright, he held his own for about 3 seconds but Ovechkin is the Russian Machine here and he taught this kid to respect his elders. I understand that the announcers are going to be biased towards their team, but Ovechkin did not slam the kid’s head into the ice. That’s delusional. Anyone who thinks this was anything other than a mutually agreed upon fight by two professional players is fooling themselves. Honestly, I was at both Caps home games and I didn’t even realize these two had been chirping at each other since Game 1. That just further cements that his was bound to happen and Svechnikov himself wanted to go gloves off with Ovi. Can’t say Ovi has “no class” for “picking on a 19 year old” when the kid wanted it probably more than Ovi did. Ultimately though, this fight did nothing for the Caps. The Canes seemed to feed off the energy from this one (and their fans were LOUD! Props to everyone at PNC Arena!) and ended up dominating Game 3. This is shaping up to be a good series.

Posted by o9zubyo9 on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

Svech-“Hey old man, give me your lunch!” Ovi-“Ok. Here’s a two piece and a soda” Svech-“boy I could sure use a nap💤 “

Posted by Vinsanity on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

I want to see a compilation of games 1, 2, and 3 with everything that lead up to this fight. Overall 10 because knock-outs are the pinnacle of fight-endings.

Posted by TheShipwreck1 on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

Glad to see Ovi drop the mitts.

Posted by honest truth on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

Stop talking like Ovi is some great fighter. He has ONE win in 10+ years against a teenager. What comes around goes around.

Posted by full force five on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

Who was that ding-dong crying about the extra shot. KO Win.

Posted by Sportaholic on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

Ovechkin has clearly picked up some pointers from Wilson. He looked like a legit fighter in this one. So did Svechnikov, for that matter. He was able to throw some decent rights before he went beddy byes (which occurred before he hit the ice, and is most likely the reason he hit the ice so hard). Pretty good scrap. I thought for sure I was about to witness a postseason GHHT from Ovi in this one, especially the way he was playing in this game and in this series so far...not to be. Caps' TV broadcast provided a much better clip of the fight, without all the whining. All you can hear at the end are Alan May and Craig Laughlin both saying "WOW!!!" And, whoever voted this as a draw or a win for Svechnikov should have their voting privileges revoked.

Posted by CapsYapp on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

1. I'd be interested to know which idiots said Svech won the fight OR it was a draw 2. Those homerlicious announcers were so off base it was comical. Even with the slow mo replay it was clear he didn't slam his head on the ice from a punch. Dude was out cold 4 ft from the ice. Ovi holding on to his jersey while still in fight mode probably prevented the kid from having scrambled egg brain even more. 3. Imagine being a young, dumb and full of... himself... kid who bites off more than he can chew v his homeland hero: Svech after some slashes and bumps - "Wanna go pretty boy?" Ovi - "you sure about that?" Svech - "Da" 4 seconds later the Murder on Ice is over Maybe not challenge the Russian Machine like that, all the while thinking your stones are made of brass when they were really made of toilet tissue. But, I hope the kid is OK

Posted by jrw89sbk on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

You don’t mess with the machine.

Posted by CG44 on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

You would think the announcer would realize he was being an idiot on the replay, but nope, he just keeps ranting about a perfectly legit KO. I don’t get how anybody that has this much hockey experience is whining about an awesome tempers flaring, playoff slugfest. Ovechkin is an awesome “old time” hockey player in a game that lacks as much nowadays.

Posted by rodlang on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

Who is the whiny announcer? The 19 year old kid slashed OV and was running his mouth, so the old man put a beating on him. You would think a 19-year old Russian player would have some respect for the veteran. Now he does. KO for OV.

These homer Canes announcers are idiots. Ovechkin didnt ram his head into the ice...the kid was holding onto him and the momentum from knocking him the F&^$ out, is was carried him to ground. Ovi never fights and perhaps now people understand why...his is a straight monster.

That announcer almost hit Hornqvist on the Twatmeter. My 4 year old daughter came in the room and asked who the little girl was whining on the computer. I'll give Svechnikov the slight edge in this tilt.

Posted by Double Nickels on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

Lol. Announcers called that wrong. Ovi doesn't hit him going down and, in fact, does pull up.

Posted by Griffin28 on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

Rather two skill players didn’t throw down, but age and cunning overcame youth and vigour here for sure. Ovi’s arm keeps Svech having to throw to the outside over it, while Ovi gets his licks in direct and fast. Unfortunate that Svech’s head bounced on the ice, but O didn’t throw him down or keep punching once the kid’s legs buckled and he dropped. I’d pay $5 to know what Svech said that made Ovi pop off - that’s rare! I did see the foreplay. Can we request a different video, one with non-Canes commentary? This one is not that great, if there’s one with a less biased view I for one would appreciate it.

Big win for Ovechkin. Svechnikov was ballsy for even trying this one. Also, to whoever posts these, you should've used the national broadcast instead of this biased garbage out of Carolina.

Posted by Brian Moran on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

Ovechkin is now known as the first player to commit first degree murder on the ice. He faces no charges for the incident as authorities were hesitant to approach and arrest him citing safety concerns.

Azzhat announcers, total homer BS commentary. Rookie talking chit got his azz handed to him big time.

Posted by Paul_from_NoVa on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

Caps lone highlight on otherwise lopsided dominant Canes win. All downhill for Caps from here. Ovi has some righteous quick-twitch muscles...hit the poor kid like a jackhammer, all on the button. Schooling a rookie. Lesson: f*** with the Bull, you get gored. Sadly, Canes were energized by the KO.

Posted by Snideman83 on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM

Announcer definitely on Meth as revenmaniacski astutely pointed out. Dude, go watch Tiger’s replays of his master victory if our game is too tough for you. Boys, you poke the bear, be prepared to pay. No dog in this fight btw. Gave it a solid 8.

Posted by PenguinsFan on August 13, 2020 at 05:43 AM
