Can't call a sucker punch a fight

Posted by shock on May 11, 2009 at 10:33 AM

Cheap shot by Walker. VERY cheap shot. That was just plain pathetic.

Posted by Clark75 on May 11, 2009 at 08:57 PM

Sucker punch king! Watch out for Lucic tomorrow Walker. I bet you won't be so tough then.

Posted by hallkb on May 12, 2009 at 09:34 AM

upyours - you're a complete tool. First off, Walker is 5'10, seeing inches are so important to you. What do you expect Lucic to do? Sit back and think "gee...i've got a couple inches on this guy so maybe I should not do anything"

Posted by Bruins29 on May 11, 2009 at 08:03 PM

This was not a fight, it was a sucker punch. Walker gets a 1 for being a punk

Posted by Chaotic8 on May 11, 2009 at 03:11 AM

Funny how some people will vote for "Walker all the way." I suppose the village idiots failed to realize that this was not a fight, hell Ward didn't even have his gloves off.

Posted by Drewmama on May 11, 2009 at 10:29 PM

not impressed by that cheap shot. momentum change in this game...B's win the series.

Posted by DARCY T on October 16, 2009 at 12:40 PM

wtf was ward thinkin.he saw punch comin to his face and didnt do nothin walker

Posted by huddles on May 10, 2009 at 11:15 PM

one shot blast down he goes

Posted by Riomouse911 on May 13, 2009 at 01:22 AM

Ward has a long history of elbows and cheap shots dating back to his early days. He did it again to an opponent (Matt Cullen) , and a teammate (Walker) jumped in and was ready to throw down. I'm thinking Ward was going to pull his usual "What me worry?" routine. Now it was cheap, as Walker dry gultched him for sure, and he deserved the fine. I'll say the 'Canes fired up the Bruins for the loss today. I said draw and a 1 because it was a mugging not a fight.

Posted by Fistking on May 12, 2009 at 01:27 AM

There´s no any justification for Walker´s action. I don´t agree Ward should have known that was coming. It was just frustrated attempt to hurt. Anyway, Walker is a rat. Anyone can knock the lights out that way. Hope Walker gets what he just ordered in next game.

Posted by nicdawg29 on May 11, 2009 at 07:34 PM

to "upyours" lucic wasn't soing after walker because hes small, he went after him cuz he did a bitch move. would you rather thornton go after walker, because i think that would probably end up worse...just saying

Posted by Jellyczar on May 11, 2009 at 11:00 AM

Good sucker punch ... high on the scale of cheap shots .... RoboSmash needs to get higher than a 520 on his SAT's..

Posted by Avlos on May 11, 2009 at 03:13 PM

aaron ward has to be the dumbest SOB in the world, walker dropped his gloves grabbed walker with the left and naiiled him with a right. what did ward think was going to happen after walker dropped his gloves? Give him a hug. i still consider it a cheap shot, but when a dude drops his gloves and grabs you you have to be prepared for a punch. period

Posted by mailman1194 on May 11, 2009 at 02:26 AM

Wow, Walker looks like a piece of shit here. Suckers him with a left then a right. Could've gone with Thornton, Lucic, Chara, etc. Complete puussyy move. Hope this wakes the Bruins up and old schools them. Some DOUSCHBAG says "Lucic comes in trying to be tough". Hey JACKASS, you just start watching hockey?!!! I guarantee Walker is the last person Lucic is afraid to fight. The only thing tough here is you finding some phucken puussyy.

Posted by legion31 on May 11, 2009 at 05:15 PM

lucic is hot when laraque is away.....................easy to be hot vs walker !!

Posted by pmarz1 on May 12, 2009 at 02:43 PM

Initially, i had this as a no fight draw. But now, since Collie has chirped in saying Walker felt they were engaged in a fight, I guess i would have to give this to Walker. Um.....wait a minute, if this was a legit fight as Collie the Bettman butt boy says, then why did he fine Walker $2500. ??? Either it's a legit fight, or it isnt, there is no gray area here. Is the league going to start fining guys for legit fights??? Collie??? Can you enlighten us??? Oh well, my verdict is: cheap shot crap fight draw

Posted by b.t.wilson on May 11, 2009 at 09:39 AM

I too normally like Walker but that was ugly, dumb, cheap, pointless, thoughtless, stupid, disprectful. I wouldn't go so far to say win for Ward, I'm calling it a draw and a 1 out of principal. That was ridiculous and I hope Walker doesn't play another playoff game for that one. And no I'm not a Bruins fan.

Posted by tattooedkingpin on May 11, 2009 at 09:45 AM

what a piece of shit. Walker should be suspended. what a fucking cheap shot.

Posted by JCeltic on May 11, 2009 at 10:38 AM

I called DRAW because it was a CHEAP and BULLSH*T move on Walkers part. Ward didn't even have his gloves off. Carolina got owned, hard...they all couldn't take it, and decided to slash and cheap shot their way...all the way to a loss at the end of the night. And what lame fagggots like RoboSmash don't understand, is Gleason didn;t "ragdoll" Lucic....just as Rutuu did (the Pens player, last season), he went after Lucic VERY SHORTLY AFTER HE WAS RECOVERING FROM A BROKEN FUUCCCKKINGGG NOSE!!! Are you that stupid??? Would ANY OF YOU fight someone if you had JUST RECENTLY broken your GOD DAMN NOSE?!?!?!? Some people are so frigggin stupid on this board its sad.

Posted by BsFAn4LIF on May 11, 2009 at 03:39 PM

See its people like omgitslafferty that i dont understand why they are on this blog. If you dont know what u are talking about, dont post it. Ward, like any defensmen would know wasnt "trying to start a fight" with cullen, its called getting the man out of the crease and cullen was giving him problems. So Walker comes over and cheapshots him? It didnt even give Ward the chance to drop the gloves if he wanted to. I hope looch or thornton beats his ass so bad next game.

Posted by Andrefan on May 11, 2009 at 10:42 PM

Scott Walker is a PUSSY & I hope someone crushes his ass. Might even be nice to see him Boarded crushing his face to a bloody smudge on the glass.

Posted by camorr on May 19, 2009 at 09:25 PM

so i guess next year chara can grab staal and punch him out without the worry of a suspension. not very smart by the nhl. and while im at it what about cammaleiri a pre meditated head shot no suspension corey perry elbow to the head no suspension either meanwhile brashear gets 6 games what a joke. tip to the nhl if you want to get rid of head shots maybe try suspending players

Posted by bruins rule on May 11, 2009 at 07:43 AM

total cheapshot sucker punch by walker.

Posted by supafly on May 11, 2009 at 06:46 PM

Colin Cambell gave a $2500 dollar fine for this incident. To me that is sending a clear message that he wants to see the players settle this themselves. And the Bruins will!!!!

Posted by Cough on May 11, 2009 at 03:17 AM

Nothing but a cheap shot. That is not normally what Walker is about. I used to respect him as a player/fighter/man, but that was absolute crap. The B's will have to wait until game 7 for retribution. There is too much on the line in game 6.

Posted by ogie ogiltorpe on May 15, 2009 at 09:22 AM

Walker should have been suspended for this blatant cheap shot yet he escapes discipline then eliminates the Bruins in OT!! nice job NHL!!

Posted by crosscheck52 on May 11, 2009 at 08:32 PM

How is this rated? You can't have a winner if there is no fight. Well, maybe you can, but I don't see it here. Walker with a cheap shot, and if I'm not mistaken this is not the first time he's done something like this. I hope Ward recovers soon and I hope Walker gets the fight he wants in the next contest.

Posted by ron muti on May 11, 2009 at 12:35 PM

sucker punch

Posted by shadow131355 on May 11, 2009 at 06:17 PM

i gave it a draw. it was to big of a cheap shot for a win but one punch ko. it would've been the best fight of 2009 playoffs if ward dropped his gloves to fight. but since he didnt it changes it all! but next game i expect to see revenge!!!!

Posted by meepstone on May 11, 2009 at 07:14 PM

I cant believe they didnt suspend walker. i guess this is how the league wants the game to be played, dirty and rotten punches, hits, slashes. You break a guys bone in the face who wasnt going to fight and they fine his 2,500 bucks. thats embarrassing for the league. expect game 6 to have just as many penalties and i bet someone gets injured. I also dont expect walker to be able to skate off the ice on his own that night.

Posted by bruiser11 on May 14, 2009 at 03:12 PM

serious!>? there was only a select few that could knock a guy down like that with no suckering or luck involved, and Walker isn't 1 of them

Posted by goldie1444 on May 11, 2009 at 12:24 PM

SUCKER punch all the way...Walker of all people knows better having been on the receiving end of a Micheal Pettit ass kikcing when he was in Vancouver. Lucic will get him before this is over.

Posted by jemihami on May 11, 2009 at 10:44 PM

I don't like the Bruins, but I hope somebody on that team takes Walker apart! That was a total cheap-shot ... hell Ward hadn't even dropped his stick or gloves!

Posted by odinblade on May 11, 2009 at 05:07 AM

I mean, it's a Walker "win" even if it was a sucker punch. Thus a "win" and a 1 for "crap fight". Don't see why the scoring is controversial.

Posted by hughcares on May 11, 2009 at 08:34 AM

Good job by Walker - boom boom out go the lights. The p*ssy Ward needs to learn to show up - Ward has a history of not dropping the gloves - got what he deserved.

Posted by brymaster1 on May 11, 2009 at 12:16 AM

payback for the stuart cheapshots. walker win

Posted by mikebflorida on May 12, 2009 at 12:22 PM

Sucker punch pretty much sums it up. Ward wasn't expecting it obviously but needs to protect himself also at the end of a 4-0 game. That is one of the biggest problems with that rule- at the end of a regular season game you might see something like this but you don't expect it in a playoff game anymore but when it happens, it's nasty, like this. Win Walker I guess, but cheap as hell. I should add that I hate the way Ward plays and to be honest, he deserves to get punked but Walker is dumb for doing it then and it might cost the Canes big time.

Posted by Sasky001 on May 11, 2009 at 07:20 PM

I saw an interview with Tie Domi after someone (I think it was Brashear) gave Ward another cheap shot. Domi said Ward "has a big mouth." Walker just shut it. What did Ward expect late in a 4-0 game?

Posted by mstheat12 on May 12, 2009 at 11:18 PM

Walker is just another irrelevant piece of hockey meat that has had more penalty minutes than minutes played in his career.Lucic wouldn't waste his time on a bum like him,I'm sure, but Thornton would love the opportunity to tune up this rock head. More telling are Paul Maurice's comments and I hope people now realize that the guy is a COMPLETE JACKASS!!

Posted by PFLY64 on May 11, 2009 at 08:13 AM

Posted by upyours on May 11, 2009 at 02:13 PM

Scott Walker is about 5'9" 190 lbs. Lucic is 6'3" about 225 Seems about right Lucic would go after him. He usually runs from the big boys that can actually fight.

Posted by canesfan67 on May 11, 2009 at 03:30 PM

To start off - Yes, I am a Carolina Hurricanes fan, season ticket holder also, but I agree with what most are saying, that this was a cheap shot. A cheap shot in the respect that Ward didn't have his gloves off, nor did it seem as if he was willing to fight Walker at the time. But when you are attempting to rough up a vital player to the team, who hasn't fought since 1999, and who has a history of head injuries, what do you expect to happen? I'm not trying to defend Scott Walker, but this was bound to happen at some point. Best of luck to best teams in the remaining game(s).

Posted by BLUESFAN18 on May 13, 2009 at 08:56 PM

Posted by hal29 on May 11, 2009 at 08:02 AM

cheapshot by walker.its funny people say looch was lucky he didn't pair off with gleason.yeah lucic lost to gleason last big deal.didn't gleason being to tough on the ice in that shift he just stood there.lucic wasn't intimidated while gleason was out there.i like to see gleason go with looch.i gaurantee it will be a total different story you phuking ass phucker.robosmash your such a douche.grow the phuck up.last year was last year, total different now.gleason couldn't do shyt against clarkson and i recall lucic giving clarkson jelly legs with some big shots.clarkson asked the linesman to stop it.looch faught gleason after he had just broke his nose in a philly game

Posted by demophon on May 11, 2009 at 06:15 PM

It was a completely cheap shot. Ward never got his gloves off, looked like Walker jumped into someone else's fight when no one else was actually fighting.

Posted by bruinbrigade on May 11, 2009 at 01:20 PM

Im gonna give a W to walker because it was the only hit in this so called "fight" All this proved was walker's a puss, Lucic's gonna whip his a$$ and Ward can take a hit like a champ, he got right up after. If Gleason's such a beast, then why didn't he try to really stop Lucic? He just grabbed him like he was his buddy and then let him go. Robosmash, you need to watch sh1t better

Posted by RRSM53 on May 11, 2009 at 08:31 AM

get out the whambulance for all the bruins haters. The Canes, dont have a tough guy, Conboy couldn't beat his mother, walker is a puke, Gleason, come on your morons he couldnt beat conboy's mother either. Has he even won a fight in his career. Some of you poor babies who team (Canadians) are gon, out to lunch, on the golf course, robbing women of their pocketbooks, getting drunk hanging around with drug dealers losers like you. Oh have a nice day.

A blatant cheapshot causing injury - $2500 Making me laugh - Priceless

Posted by Penguins87 on May 11, 2009 at 10:11 AM

The league hates philly is because the team is full of thugs and goons. When will philly learn that you can't win the cup by cheap shotting the other teams. Did you even watch that game 1 when Carcillo was suspended? Their were about 3 or 4 Flyers that should have been suspended following the thugery that was the last 3 minutes of that game. Let's go Canes, the Pens would love to have home ice for the Eastern Conference finals.

Posted by GeorgeFHarris on May 12, 2009 at 01:14 PM

If you look at the tape, Ward threw at least one punch at Cullen (who has had concussion problems, so is NOT going to fight), and one punch at Walker. Both with the gloves on (so isn't that a suspension penalty?). Walker can't help it if he is a better puncher than Ward.

Posted by silent_shadow36 on January 21, 2010 at 02:23 PM

walks did a good job at sticking up for his teammate, but he could have at least waited until ward got his gloves off to make it a fair fight...

Posted by Rantavahti on May 12, 2009 at 08:13 AM

Ward deserved it. He had all the time in the world to react, Walker's gloves were off pretty early on...Ward should fight and not wait for the right spot. It still was a cheapshot but Ward didn't protect himself too good either. At that point you don't ask uestions, you just go!

Posted by Bad Dawg on May 15, 2009 at 12:01 PM

Hey "Mailman" how do you like that justice? Walker scores the winner! Bruins fans can boo hoo all summer now and Mailman can go on being Lucic's butt plug!!!!!!

Posted by Caniac2630 on May 12, 2009 at 01:51 PM

As a Hurricane fan, I didn't like Ward's game here, granted it helped us get a Stanley Cup, but he's a pansy. He get's people going and then stands there like an oaf to get hit. If you look, Ward give Walker a shot in the left shoulder before Walker drops him. Oh well. Walker with the one punch KO. Way to go Walks. It's time one of our guys stood up to the Bruin's goons.

Posted by orms23 on May 11, 2009 at 02:13 PM

ward has his gloves glued on all year...people seem to forget that walks is like 5'8..he comes over to protect a teammate and ward plays dummy again...walks hits him once and then leaves it alone watch the tape...walker could have hammered him when he was down but chose not too...granted it wasnt a "fight" but walker could have really hurt him if he wanted...what did ward think walkers was coming over to do???

Posted by jbaktai on May 11, 2009 at 10:55 AM

Well even the analists were calling ward out for this one. you see a guy with his gloves off grab u with an arm and has his fist cocked back, and what does he do he just stands there. I'm not saying it was clean but for heavens sake atleast turn your head he saw the god damn punch the whole way. Wards not a little girl but him getting k.o'd like that was his own fault if he didnt see that punch coming a mile away hes an idiot. Besides in a 4-0 game dont go after cullen and then throw a punch at a guy like scott walker with your gloves on (watch the replay just before walker drops his gloves) and expect to not get punched in the face. As for walker lucic in a possible game 7 i dunno, scott walkers a tough guy and i'd love to see lucic get the shit kicked out of him, i got nothing against the bruins and i'm not a canes fan just wanna see lucic get delt with. A fight with him and gleason would be nice

Posted by mightyquin on May 15, 2009 at 07:23 PM

and chara didnt take up walkers offer to fight in game 7 either i guess he didn't want to lose twice in one night......hummmm.

Posted by stlfan on May 12, 2009 at 09:16 AM

This is typical of Ward throws the glove on punches which IS a sucker punch then when Walker brings it to him won't drop the gloves with him. If you throw a punch with gloves on means your ready to fight if not then your a coward.

Posted by Behn Wilson on May 11, 2009 at 09:58 AM

Ward goes a little too far in shoving Cullen, and then stands there grinning at Walker with his ''glove-glue'' firmly attached. What'd you expect? The retalliation was, admittedly, disproportionate. and cheap... but Ward had to know it was coming. Game 7 Lucic-Walker would be interesting, but Chara-Walker would probably require the Canes facial-reconstruction surgeon.

Posted by leon phelps on May 11, 2009 at 07:35 AM

When a guy takes his gloves off he does not do this to shake your hand with 5 mins left. Go Walker.

Posted by mcb789 on May 10, 2009 at 11:31 PM

walker destroyed ward in this fight. no contest. even in the playoffs the bruins cant win a fight. the bruins are a bunch of wimps!!

Posted by GarthButcher on May 20, 2009 at 10:58 PM

Walker would probably like that one back, but the B's announcers are so brutal that you have to classify it as a tilt. Looch would have tried a little harder to get at Walker if he was a Finn.

Posted by wdCanesfan on May 11, 2009 at 03:50 PM

Ward took a swing at Cullen after hitting Cullen in the face with his stick. Then Ward made an even dumber move, swinging on walker (look at the replay homers). I'm guessing ward thought that was LaRose coming to Cullens aid. Walker with another KO.

Posted by Stahl on May 11, 2009 at 08:41 PM

For those of you who have commented but haven't kept up From today's NHL ruling on the fight, "The one-game suspension was rescinded prior to the hearing," Rutherford said. "In the hearing, they looked at what happened in the altercation. It was judged not to be a sucker punch. " In a statement released by the team, Walker said, “I accept the league’s decision. Based on what was said on the ice as I was dropping my gloves, it was my understanding that I was engaged in an altercation.” Ward has had 4 fights in his career - but his sucker punch count is more than that per match.

Posted by BruinLeader on May 11, 2009 at 11:25 AM

Fight? Total cheap shot. Walker is a POS.

Posted by CanesFan15 on May 11, 2009 at 01:25 PM

ok my thing is that I will say that this was a sucker punch--- but wtg Walker nice taking matter into your on hands b/c refs did a terrible job. But even if Ward would have been fighting back Walker still would have won. By the way Lucic and Gleason would be a good fight I will say, but Gleason would win.

Posted by Too_Too_Fan101 on May 13, 2009 at 10:47 PM

Sucker Punch!

Posted by rangerfan410 on May 11, 2009 at 12:50 PM

Typical of Ward. He is rough and tumble ready when engaged w/ Cullen, but when he looks up and it's Walker, he wants no part of him. To say he wasn't ready for a fight dismisses the right to Cullen's head 5 seconds before. We'll see who will punish Walker. Maybe the Sherriff will jam his face into Walker's fists a few times. We know it won't be Ward.

Posted by runky on May 10, 2009 at 11:40 PM

So you have Scotty Walker in front of you after a game like that and you don't think it would make sense to tie him up? Ward not even a participant in this one. Easy win SW. Afterwards, Lucic goes after Walker and he's incensed? Isn't this what Lucic did a few weeks ago to a European? Sucks when it happens to your team eh Looch?

Posted by CrossCheck on May 12, 2009 at 12:35 AM

Hey you Boston David Ortiz butt phuckers, your boy Lucic was scared to fight Walker..he was crawling in the linsemans pants where he bleongs with you know what attached to his mouth. Walker would friggin kill the bitch from Croatia...Beantown now that's a joke, Ortiz is a joke, and Lubitch is a joke. hahahhahhahhahahhahahhahahaha

Posted by Lister100 on May 12, 2009 at 10:46 AM

KO Walker Aren't Bruins fans the ones that call everyone puss1es for not being ready to fight? Bruins play a dirty brand of hockey and when a team is down 4 zip in the last two minutes some of that karma resurfaces. How many Bruins were cheering when Conboy with his gloves still on was being punched by Thornton? The crowd sure loved it. Does Walker deserve a day in the principals office? Maybe Did Ward, or more specificallly the Bruins deserve it? Definitely!

Posted by BigRob1 on May 11, 2009 at 05:37 PM

Great shot! You are getting 5 and a game anyways, so get the best of a pu$$y sticking his chin out begging to get hit! I would do the same over and over again. Wasn't a cheep shot. It was one guy punching the other in the face with his chin out and gloves glued to his hands. Both did what they wanted to get done. Tell me how I'm wrong on this one? So I give it a KO! One hitter quitter here.

Posted by Snowrider on May 11, 2009 at 03:24 PM

Bruins are punk, and the king of them is Lucic, such a cu*nt. The proof of its stupidity and also is weakness is there. Stupidity cause its time for him to be suspended at that time of this series. Weakness p*ssy cause he's once again looking for fight against a one head smaller guy than him. He's the worst skinhead punk to ever played in NHL.

Posted by bruiseyoureye on May 11, 2009 at 10:37 AM

walker ko'd that was just a severe ass whoopin......walker opened up a severe can of whoop ass on ward

Posted by Happy2 on May 11, 2009 at 08:33 PM

That's what we call a well deserve cheap shot. Yellow Lucic did not have the same energy with Laraque...

Posted by Brujo on May 13, 2009 at 06:30 PM

Ward likes to take cheap shot at everybody with his fore arm shivers after every hit. If I recall Cullen has had concusion problems in his career, and if you look closely ward get his stick up high, Well walker comes in and invites ward and well ward turltes and loozer comes in but figures wait gleason on the ice i better just pretend like i'm gonna do something, Milan u pansy when you gonna invite a someone ur size to fight and not little non fighters with visor, lucic wanted seidenberg to fight a real tough customer

Posted by mizii74 on May 11, 2009 at 04:05 PM

when you have stuart hitting conbow with 2 knees on the ground, you receive walker with a F.....sucker punch!!!

Posted by 24Cups on May 12, 2009 at 01:34 AM

Walker's punch is very symbolic of this series.... The Bruins just didn't see the Canes coming and pow....eliminated! Gotta love how Lucic pretends to be a tough guy, now that he's a fan favorite in Boston. Somebody please tell him that he can stop his ocsar winning performances, 'cause the rest of the league isn't impressed......yawn

Posted by DidThatHappen? on May 11, 2009 at 09:40 PM

People keep saying that this KO was a sucker punch. From what i have observed with Scott Walker is that when he fights he does'nt lolly gag and take time to fix his helmet, elbow pads and everything, he just goes at it, and goes at it hard. So i can see why people think this is a sucker punch but it is just Walker's fighting style. Hes not just going to site there and let the guy get ready for the fight, he's gonna go at him as soon as he can get his hands on him and swing with fists of fury, so i believe this was a clean fight and Aaron Ward should be ready next time hes trying to fight someone like Scott.

Posted by Kruesi26 on June 22, 2009 at 07:40 PM

Scott Walker kicked Aaron Wards ass. It wasnt a cheap shot either. Aaron Ward was just to stupid to put his arms up and defend himself. What an idiot.

Posted by zoyboy on May 11, 2009 at 03:47 PM

what a total putz. two sucker punches in one sequence. how does that pinhead, colin 'the clown' campbell rescind the suspension? two sucker punches? i hope thorton or lucic gets a chance in the next two games. not to mention that pussy chop by jokinen on chara. thanks carolina, i think the b's needed some hate.

Posted by stevkrause on May 11, 2009 at 05:01 PM

What an absolutely despicable, cowardice move by Walker - THIS is what the NHL needs to cut out, cheapshot artists and cowards... taking a cheap shot at a guy who is not even fighting and sucker punching him is NOT an NHL fight. Scored the fight for Ward purely out of disgust for Walker's antics.

Posted by cujo8922 on May 11, 2009 at 12:33 PM

This incident should not be on this website. This was not a fight. This was a guy taking it upon himself to take a cheapshot at the end of a blowout. He was not involved in this situation and it was not going to result in anything other than a few shoves. Walker should receive a 5 game suspension no questions asked. Aaron Ward was being disciplined and Walker showed just how much class he has in a losing

Posted by ljcav7788 on May 11, 2009 at 10:59 AM

This is your definition of "Sucker Punch"

Posted by Killer Bezz on May 11, 2009 at 08:59 AM

Ward is the winner. Any man who stands there with gloves on arms down is not looking for a fight. Walker took advantage of Ward. Also thats not a fight. A fight is two willing players going at it. So Walker keep your head up cause I think your going to loose it. O yea as for the coach who was ask about what Walker did he responded with he has sore knuckles. Thats nice cause it's going to go good with his sore face come Tues. night. Piece of Sh_t. Go Beezzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Hawkstar9 on May 12, 2009 at 02:27 PM

It's amazing how someone can watch that and disagree that it was a complete cheap shot. Ward is clearly engaged with Cullen (with both of them getting their paws up high) and Walker comes in with a gloved flying left that misses. And then without missing a beat, shakes the right glove off, reaches back and punches Aaron Ward in the face. Those are the facts. There is no place in the game for that crap. If that's not cheap, what is?

Posted by carolyn1946 on May 11, 2009 at 11:02 AM

. walker that was cheap shot.

Posted by Esjay1980 on May 11, 2009 at 07:19 AM

Gutless move...but give him credit for stopping once he realized how gutless it was. If this is posted, I'd like to know where Thornton beating on Conboy is...

Posted by bigbadbs8 on May 11, 2009 at 02:23 AM

for those of you that think walker won this fight, youre crazy. it was one of the cheapest shots i have ever seen. you wanna fight, square up and be a man. drop em like your supposed to. he's lucky he's gunna get suspended. if he doesnt for some reason, somebody is going to man handle him. be a real hockey player, fight the way its supposed to be done. and for all of you, be a real hockey fan. show come class

Posted by sonsofjaymiller on May 13, 2009 at 12:07 AM

I guess canes fans thought this was legit. That was piss poor and walker will get his due. just ask steve begin after last years cheap shot on bergeron. Do you think that fired up the Bs or what? 4-2 win in hee-haw ville says yes! The Party is over pukes, and the boys wrap it up at home on thursday. One more thing: YOU ALL WISH LUCIC WAS ON YOUR TEAM, KEEP HATIN YOU MISERABLE MASSENGILLS!

Posted by preciselyfun on May 11, 2009 at 04:36 PM

Clear win for Ward. Walker's hand is completely f'd up for sure. What a puss.

Posted by rsaunders_37205 on May 15, 2009 at 08:44 PM

Are there acceptable sucker punches? I mean, I could imagine a Steve Avery goading somebody and finally someone comes over and drops him just because he's a douche and won't go. Now, I don't know if this qualifies, in part b/c I don't know if Ward is a douche like Avery, but Walker at least engaged him (came in with the elbow, itself cheap) and while Ward didn't drop his gloves he was at least squared up. May be a weird analogy, but there's a difference between having arrests for civil disobedience (or even urinating in public) and having arrests for serious crimes. This feels more like a urinating in public offense than a bank robbery.

Posted by Adambruinsfan on May 11, 2009 at 02:39 AM

Cheapshot sucker punch. Instigating with less than 5 minutes in game, Walker will be watching the game in the press box next game.

Posted by phillyBrashear on May 12, 2009 at 03:43 PM

I'm neutral and I have no idea how you can vote for Scott Walker. First jumps in when the other 2 are mixing it up then drops the gloves and lands a cheap shot. At least he stopped once Ward dropped. Would have been nice to see Lucic pair off with Walker. If Carcillo was suspended for that crap with Talbot then Walker is definitely gone for the next game. If not, well, we already know the league hates Philly. ================================================ Penguins87: Yes, I did watch every minute of the series. And to say the team is full of thugs and goons is hypocritical with Godard, Cooke, Kunitz, and Orpik (Orpike less than the others) on your team. Every team in the NHL has “thugs and goons” by your definition - they’re called the 4th line. Carcillo’s move was dirty/cheap/creative, but it was NOTHING compared to this shot by Walker. Carcillo suspended 1 game. Walker $2500 fine. That’s fair, right? Messaging sending in the Playoffs has been around forever. To say they’re going to eliminate is crap, but at least be consistent. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOvechkin.

Ward, 2 minutes for being stupid. How could he not know that Walker was going to bring it. The Canes are done for the game and he just threw a shot at Cullen, how could he not expect Walker to respond. This is just how the Bruins do things. They run around and hit everything in sight, just asking for trouble, and then, when they get the lead, they act like they're "responsible" and "just want to play the game". B*LLSH#T! You can't have it both ways. Good for Ward, taking one on the melon. If you're going to give it whenever you feel like it, then you need to take it whenever your opponent feels like giving it. Same thing every time with Lucic and the gang. They're all tough guys when they feel like it but they hide behind the coach when they get a real challenge. Walker's not that big, but he's a pit bull and Lucic might have a tougher time with him than he thinks.

Posted by wingers on May 12, 2009 at 03:51 PM

Ward has 0 fights this year. I don't think he would have dropped the gloves with anyone on Carolina since he still respects the franchise (having won a cup ya know) and ...oh ya he doesn't fight anyone. as others said, this is not a fight. walker should have noticed that ward didn't want to fight and probably shouldv'e noticed that ward wasn't defending himself. whatever, we'll see if anything comes of it. for the Hurricanes players to call this "just hockey" is a lame excuse, hockey is played with a stick in ur hands in case you forgot.

Cheapshot by walker

Posted by jcstokes on May 11, 2009 at 02:29 PM

That was awful. I heard Ward got a broken bone in his face. Walker is a sleeze, I'd imagine a suspension is in order for him.

Posted by TheAsianator on May 11, 2009 at 05:55 PM

walker is a p*ssy

Posted by FeedingFrenzy on May 11, 2009 at 04:37 PM

Walker should get a suspension, third man in, cheap shot in the closing minutes. Cullen should fight his own fights, and Ward should be a warded a penalty shot. No, not like a shot on goal, break away status, I mean a free shot at Walker. Cheap shot for cheap shot. Sounds fair to me.....

Posted by BigBadBruins68 on May 11, 2009 at 10:09 AM

That wasn't a fight. That was a sucker-punch. That's being a chickenshit.

Posted by stiri on May 11, 2009 at 09:38 AM

cannot vote for a no-fight, it was an agression plain and simple

Posted by doof17 on May 12, 2009 at 09:40 PM

for upyours Lucic went after Walker not because he was smaller it was because walker is a no good piece of s**t that deserves to be pumped i would personally tell chara to knock his lights out and your probably some no good piece of s**t who has never played hockey in his live and has no live other than make up horse shit comments and beak players far greater than you will ever be as a human being

Posted by celtics464 on May 11, 2009 at 12:18 AM

This wasn't even a fight. It was a disgusting act of cowardice. Complete sucker punch. Enjoy the suspension Walker. He wasn't even involved he came in and with the other guy still having his gloves on and holding his stick he punches him in the face. Real tough guy stuff there. You antiBoston guys proved you can't hold a credible opinion with the garbage you've just posted on this video.

Posted by omgitslafferty on May 11, 2009 at 03:16 PM

I'm a caps fan, so I think I'm pretty neutral. I agree that it was a cheap shot by Walker, but I also think that Ward had it coming, becuase of the punch he threw at Cullen. Ward tried to start a fight, but then when Walker comes over, he starts acting like he doesn't want to. Ward just stood there after Walker threw an elbow. I dont know bout you, but if I punch a guy, and then his friend comes over and throws an elbow, I think thats a sign that he might want to fight.

Posted by tomales2 on May 11, 2009 at 01:47 AM

Walker's a punk. Gave it a 1 for cheapness.

Posted by azjim on May 12, 2009 at 06:50 AM

Walker came to help his teammate Cullen, who had concussion problems in the past. Ward was ragdolling Cullen, so when Walker stepped in Ward tossed Cullen down. Walker grabbed Ward and drilled him. I am not an NHL level hockey player, but when I played, if someone grabbed me by the front of my sweater, it was go time. Even if I didn't want to fight, I figured I wasn't being given a choice. At the least one can grab the guy or try to move away. Just standing there with your arms down at your sides is just stupid. Ward saw it coming but chose to take it.

Posted by Spaz on May 11, 2009 at 06:44 PM

If Ward is going to come up high on Cullen at the end of a 4-0 game, then he better expect to be fighting. At that point, Walker's searching for trouble and Ward gave him a reason to drop his gloves.

Posted by preds321 on May 11, 2009 at 01:07 AM

OK I like Scott Walker, but that was just bad....

Posted by sheen4 on May 12, 2009 at 12:00 AM

How can you talk about Lucic going after someone smaller then him. The guy just sucker punched his team mate of course hes going to go after him.

Posted by neutralfighter on May 16, 2009 at 03:27 PM

should've done it to that puke Lucic instead. Lucic suckers or picks and chooses everyone else.

Posted by RoboSmash on May 11, 2009 at 12:04 AM

Walker all the way. That's not the first time Ward has been suckered (Brashear after he fought Shanny)- fool you once, old man. Lucic then comes in trying to be tough - lucky for him he didn't get paired off with Gleason and get ragdolled again (youtube it). What a Luuuuuu -ser. Bruins season is about to crash in burn.

Posted by colyn on May 11, 2009 at 12:05 PM

ha ,ha, ha, ha, nice to see a bruin go down.

Posted by rhynoshs_gcc on May 11, 2009 at 10:32 PM

Ward pushed Walker after harassing walker's team mate. If you are going to play with the big dogs you need to fight with them. the punk is the one that did not drop the gloves for fear of the right hand he ate. that a boy walker!!!!!!!!

Posted by H.i.t.m.a.n 514 on May 11, 2009 at 10:55 AM

...WALKER WIN BY TKO...scott destroy ward face in one punch

Posted by Defence4Life on May 11, 2009 at 03:39 PM

Why does everyone call it a cheapshot? Ward was looking into Walker's eyes as he drops the gloves and grabs his jeresey... what did he think was coming next? Ward just stood there and continued yelling, made no effort to defend himself. Why should we pitty him for talking the talk, but failing to walk the walk? Hey man, nice shot!

Posted by jmanlively on May 11, 2009 at 10:43 AM

aaron ward = douche bag deserved it

Posted by Flyers967 on May 11, 2009 at 02:25 AM

Lucic did the same thing earlier in the yr, so why was he mad??? Its ok for him, but when its his teamate, then it isnt. Hes a loser.

Posted by flamesgoon on May 11, 2009 at 08:01 PM

it took me this long to post due to my disgust....what a cheapass team....walker sucks....hes dirty....this shits bushleague.....thats a 3rd man in shot thats thrown at a bar.... not a pro hockeyrink....nevermind the playoffs......they r fortunate the Bs lost focus & blew this series....i voted for ward on pure principles...a 1

Posted by Rex from MN on May 11, 2009 at 09:11 AM

I don't consider it a fight. Really bad sucker punch, but the thing that bothers me, and I'd love to have the Bruins lineup to a man in Wild jerseys, is that Lucic didn't really take the opportunity to grab Walker and start throwing. He had the chance, and then he only acted like he really wanted to when the refs were in the way holding both back. this was a time when he could have shown character, and once again he didn't in a moment of truth. I have him below Stortini right now. Zach has come way up in the cajones department this year. Maybe someone like Terry O'Reilley can talk to Milan in the off season.
