Win for Bolll for cleaner shots
Good ole days
This fight was meaningless!
I guess the anouncers had a better view of this scrap then I did as I saw one punch land by Shelley. Both guys missed with shots then landed. Draw
2 Prolific fighters. I'm used to seeing Shelly fight with a lot more pizazz. He was landing Jersey jabs with the left but looked like he was falling asleep when throwing rights. Boll looked game throughout, but didn't quite have enough position to land convincingly. These guys draw. What a shame.
Nice wild fight. Always interesting to see two former teammates go. I say this was a draw but love Boll's attitude. "Now I am the master".
Nothing fight. These announcers are funny. Do you think Shelley is happy to be in San Jose and not stuck in Columbus? I wonder if the announcers wish they were "expendable" and could wind up in SJ?
It looks like at 0:29 Boll stopped his take down of Shelly? The most entertaining part of this fight was thinking of what 'could have been' had these guys really wanted to mash vs. just getting their respective teams going. There were some great hits throughout this game, this fight was just the by product of a little justice being dished out as it was early a shift if I remember correctly ?
Boll sure didnt want this one to go any further......
boll did better than i thought he would against shelley.have to give it a draw.
Boll did suprisingly well in this one! Draw!
I was at the game and I think Shelley's fire wasn't there due to not wanting to fight any players from the Blue Jackets. He had made some comments that alluded to this a while back. I was at the game and Boll tried to initiate in the period before this one but Jody just pushed him away and refused to go. I think it's a respect issue and Shelley still having a soft spot for Columbus. I'm glad to see him having success in San Jose. Fight was a draw. Go Jackets!
Guys, I gave this one a draw, and it should be a draw. I rated it an "OK" fight, because it only happened for the fans. This fight was pre-meditated for the fans because everyone in Columbus loved Jody, and now they love Boll, and these guys knew it. Jody said leaving Columbus was one of the hardest things he ever had to do because he loved it here. Neither of these guys seemed that into it because it was all just for "old times sake." Even though Boll took Shelley's place, Shelley and Boll don't really dislike one another. Boll considers him a mentor in some ways. It was nice to see, and a good thing for the fans in Columbus, which is the only reason it was an "OK" fight, based on the fight itself, it was a horrible fight because neither guy was into it.
Draw, although Shelley appeared to land the heavier shots.
They both landed a couple. Was hoping for more. Gave it a 6 and a draw. Not enough to declare a winner.
A textbook DRAW. Boll did very well against a seasoned veteran HW in Shelley.
A mutual-respect, former-team mate, shadow-boxing impersonation of a heavyweight brawl.
winner is shelley
I don't think Shelley really wanted to go with a former teammate. He didn't start it but he obliged when confronted. He also looked like he wanted the refs to step in before they did. Watching him go to the box, there was none of the normal chirping. Shelley seemed surprised to me at first but ended up holding off Boll and got a lot of left rabbit punches in that kept Boll off balance and the lefts connected. Boll was looking to connect hard with some wild swings but Shelly mostly held him off. I don't think either player connected.
Shelley did more, landed more, gets a slim victory
Give the edge to Shelley.
i'll join the small % of ppl that call this a shelly W. that overhand right was enuff to sway me from voting a draw.
Edge to Shelley, particularly for making good contact at the beginning of the bout. If I had to specify, I'd say Shelley took the first half of the fight and the latter half was more of a hug-fest.
not bad of a fight i wish it would of gone a little longer
boll threw more gets the win
Boll is the new prototypical HW,.. he can skate, hit, check, and drop em with anybody... he just needs 5 more pounds... I'd have him on the Oil in a second...
Good scrap, Boll did a little better than Shelley, and i if he'd connected at 0.18 he'd killed him! But it's a draw.
I don't think "Boll's play has ever made any player in the NHL expendable." Homer announcers. I'd take Shelley any day over a ridiculously overrated guy like Boll. Edge in the fight to Shelley before Boll starts hugging.
Jody didn't seem very into it. None of the usual anger. Former team mates, maybe? Or maybe because it was Jody's birthday and he had other things on his mind? Who knows. Probably a draw, but I'm afraid as a homer I have to give the slight edge to JS.
Shelley by a hair. Could have been a great fight (former teammates and all), but never happened. Go STARS!!
I liked that first punch by Shelly that you can barely see.
Not much here - they may have each landed one.
Boll threw more punches, but didn't land any. These announcers yell Big right, even when the punch is three feet over the opponant's head, or on the back of his shoulder pads. This one is a draw.
Lame fight ... 2 brawlers throw down and you expect to see some teeth flying. As mentioned, Boll did put Jody out of a job, it actually jump started #45's career.
shelly early...boll later..draw
