I didn't see the "clear cut win" for Boogaard. Neither one of them landed anything substantial. Just because Boogaard threw more doesn't give him the automatic win. It's a draw.
Solid showing, no decisive winner in my opinion.
Ivanans is one of only a handful of super heavies that can match-up with Boogard, if Raitis had landed that right cross Boogie would still by laying on the ice.
Was a very close fight. Both landed some shots, Draw in my eyes.
Good scrap between these two goliaths. Both guys landed some decent shots. Draw
nice draw...boogaard never dominates with that huge advantage...
Why hasn't anyone mentioned Mitch Fritz has a super heavy? He clearly beat GL and never really loses a fight. He's just plain scary out there!
clear draw. Ivanans landed a couple so did Boogaard. You could tell Boogaard respected Ivanans power. True heavys
wowww....boogard is a beast......boogard gets the win....not even close
If Boogie ever attacks in a fight it would be the first time. I saw the game and if Raitis just skates away Boo would be there like the dick he is. Hockey fights are not about "THE MANLY ART OF SELF-DEFENSE" , which is Boxing, it is about taking some to give some. I'm 6'3" and 230 and have thrown with some big tough guys, but derek is a guy that I would close on and accept the fact he is going to hit me but I will smack him in tight and watch him cringe as he always does when he fights Belak. Ivanans won on the fact that everytime he pops Boogie, the oil dereck has to keep from crying.
great fight.
hey tim daddy, bgl never took down Terry O'Reilly so he's not the best either. get off bgl's bag he did nothing with Chara twice in one game. BGL= BIG goon Loser........word
Good fight and Ivanans did much better than I thought he might. Both guys throw a bunch with quite a few connecting. Win to Boogey, props to Ivanans for making it close.
Ok....so Boogaard wins this one with the best shots. Second, Boogaard is not number #1. He has a winning record against Eric Godard (3-1-0 or if you are a Boogaard hater 2-1-1) , and Belak has beaten him a couple times, but those losses against Wade were very weak, people seem to get too technical around here. If on guys slips and gets popped by a weak shot he get's the loss? I don't know but neither Belak fight was a domination. Laraque just like to wrestle people down, and why not he has so much muscle in his upper body, Boogy does not, he is very skinny actually if you see him interviewing without his equipment on. Either way, calling anyone the best is very hard to do!! I out Boogaard in a potential top 3 spot, but every player has their on and off nights.
Hey Mikebflorida, your the only one who seems to be totally against Boogs in every fight this year and last. Dont know what your deal is but its clear you just dont like him for some reason. True Belak beat him twice this year but guess what, All top heavy weights lost this year! This was a win for Boogs and both were punching slow thats because they were both at the end of a long shift.
I am gaining some respect for Boogaard with the way he fights but I would still like to throw out a couple of key words: Eric Godard?
boogey with another win. can't call him the champ yet but especially cant call Laraque #1, the guys a wrestler not a fighter.
Boogaard with the win. Enough of the "Boogie the best fighter" crap though! The best fighter is the guy that you can put on the ice more than 10 shifts a game and not worry about him costing your team a goal, taking a stupid penalty or even playing on the same line as your stars. Is Boogaard that guy. No chance. He sucks as a hockey player, can't skate, won't ever play more than 10 shifts and takes up a valuable roster spot all becasue he is big and can take on a guy here and there. He is a waste of space. Sure he's a good heaveyweight fighter, but the best? Not even close. I'd rather have Charra, Belak, Goddard or any number of good solid tough players who can hold their own against Boogaard. Enough of the Boogaard the best crap. FYI-I'm from MN, live elsewhere, like the Wild, grew up with the Stars and cheer on the Avs. I'm not a Wild hater, just don't think Boogie is that great.
Googard landed more with the reach. W to the Boogie man
slight edge to boogaard.. I like how he worked his left hand in this one.. But ripper20's comment to stitch takes the cake.. That s%&t cracks me up..
Boogaard is the top fighter in the NHL at this time (although he still has some stuff to prove to alot of people). He has so much more poise and control and consistency now when he fights - than he did say two years ago. Experience will do that. Boogaard is also one of the most feared fighters in the NHL. Ivanans looks pretty cautious doesn't he? He should be. Good for Ivanans though ....doing his job. It isn't easy.
looked like ae sports fight from 05
it was alot closer then the way you voted this fight..boogard but props to ivavannans
Chara vs. Boogaard, that's what I want to see. Boogaard may have the experience on his side, but Chara will have the reach even if it's just by a small margin. Super-Heavyweight Bout.
Man that looked exausting. Too bad Ivanans doesn't have an extendable arm. He threw enough, he just couldn't get close enough to land. Edge Boogaard.
Booooooogard! The man is a monster! Kudos for Ivanans to even acknowledge the beast. Boogy still hasnt beaten the toughest guy in the league....Christine Neil......Doh! Ironic statement there of course! Boogy would destroy that 160 lb melon of Christine! Easy win Boogy in this one! Woof woof ....cheers
Ivanans made a decent showing. i wonder if Boog would be as good if he weren't so giant. Win for the Booger
Boogie with the win in a decent fight. Both guys scored at least a couple good ones. But #24 with a few more. Hey stich, " If your aunt had a dick, she'd be your uncle!" But what does that prove?....That maybe IF Ivanans landed a big punch he might win a fight?
Boogy # 2 mmmmm! Cant say every heavy weight hasnt been beaten this year because they have!!! I am an oiler fan but G.L. has the same problem every where he goes... thinks he is a player. He still doesnt get it? I thought goddard two years ago was a plummer but.... if anyone is haven a go??? To many upsets! Needs to be a proper tally for guts like thorton and cote who ya cant not love! Love the keen attitude in the east...they are setting a new standard. Heart counts!
Boogie with the win, but it was alot closer than I thought.
not even close, those announcers are homers. Boogs by far landed more punches.
little guy getting his licks in.
I live about five miles from the Xcel, huge wild fan, current college hockey player (not D1) and I'll be the first to admit, always admit, that Laraque is #1...no question. But Boogy has made a comfortable spot at #2 with Godard right on his tail.
Wow, i lost count of how many rights were landed, but to the foreigner's credit he hung in there and took em. Boogaard with a very easy win.
Clear win for Boogaard. Went on the attack early and stayed on it. Credit to Ivanans for sticking it out. He has more guts than most who have fought Boogaard
booggey looked slow with the win. a good showing none the less. win for the boogeyman.
boogaard with the win in this fight.
Boogaard with another easy win. Respect to Ivanans for haning in there and throwing but Boogaard landed double the punches. This isn't a great fight, gave it a 6.
the boogey man's height seems to elude these anoucers! however ivanans couldn't avoid his fist. boogaard with a lopsided victory.
Habs fan here so get your rage on, Boogaard with the edge, not an easy win. He took punches and didn't lay Ratis on the ice. Boogaard is pretty much the white hype for anyone that can't accept Laraque and Brashear are both 1 and 2. Boogaard is probably the uncontested 3rd. Believe me, I don't like Brashear either but a fact is a fact. You look at Brashear's fights post lock out and he only lost two to none other than Laraque and McGratton. McGratton isn't what he use to be leaving Brashear in his place. There is a preseason fight description between Boogaard/Brashear that Brashear supposedly won. I'd like to see that too.
Watched over and over to see why anyone would call this a draw... Clear win for Boogaard.
"Ivanans is one of only a handful of super heavies that can match-up with Boogard, if Raitis had landed that right cross Boogie would still by laying on the ice. " If Ivanans johnson was 14 inches he would be Johnny Holmes, whats the point, he didn't land it. Easy win Boogaard
Against the popular opinion here. I was not happy with Ivanans' showing. He should have had more passion and anger when going against one of the top fighters in the league. I realize he was likely scared but he will not be winning about against boogy unless he shows real wild anger and passion...the way McSorely used to fight..
Boogaard with the W but it was closer than many think on here.
Ivanans def one of the top 10, Boogie still the champ!!!!
Really good fight. Boogaard with the much better first half, Ivanans comes back and was doing ok at the end but to little to late. Booger with the win. Woodape- Boogaard is NOT the top fighter in the NHL, not even close- he's lost twice to Belak this season alone and hasn't looked impressive at all. Even in this fight against Ivanans, those shots from Booger would have taken RI's head off a couple of years ago but there is RI standing and throwing at the end. The Boogaard homers are pretty much the worst on this site, he wins no matter what in their eyes but in reality, he doesn't. he's slow and big and his size and strength often are over rated. He SHOULD win every fight and doesn't.
Win Boogaard. Good fight considering it was at the end of both players' shifts.
Did Ivanans even connect on ANY of his punches? He threw a lot of punches, but I saw virtually none connect. Boogaard on the other hand obviously connected with many punches. EASY WIN for BOOGAARD
BOOOOOGEY
Boogaard. No question. Be afraid of the Boogie man.
BOOOOOGAARD, Biitches!
good fight for these guys, suprised Ivanans who go in swingin against Boogey, props to him on that. I gave the fight to Boogaard as he landed more and used his reach to land some good shots.
A Boogeyman fight is a hockey event these days. Anyone who wants fighting banned ought to listen to the crowd in the background--everyone was standing up for that one.
Good fight for both, Ivanans loses purely based on reach, his big punches just couldn't get there.
win for boogaard..lol..that was funny i gues boogaard grew an inch during the fight
Boogaard, win, good fight.
Give credit to Ivanans for being the smaller of the two. Boogard's reach is almost impossible to match. Good fight.
Boggey man with the win!
close fight but I give it to Boogaard.
I don't quite know what stich is talking about ?? If Raitis landed that right cross Boogie would still be lying there?? Isn't that the point of every fight if you land a big punch its over, I saw a clear and easy victory for the Boogie man.
Boogie won cleanly. I was at the game and after they both went to the penalty box, Ivanans left the box and wobbly skated to the bench and then stumbled to the locker room. He got his bell rung.
Big guys. Boog wins. Some big swinging going on.
Boogaard threw 20 plus punches. i like the body shots i wish he did it more. i say boogey man with the win.
That was a good bout between two big boys, both landed some big bombs.Gave it to Boogs, gave the fight a 7.According to that guy Boogs will be about 7"5" by the end of season!!!
Solid fight. Boogard has not been the same fighter ever since his back injury last season. Not sure if that is what is affecting him but he just is no longer the dominant force he was a couple years ago when he was knocking people out. Ivanans looks to be getting better lately, or at least against Boogs he is.
Wow, Boogarrd made that look easy. He even took a couple shots and didn;t seem phased as all. He's having a great year.
A lot of big swings and a couple of hands with bloody knuckles. Boogaard wins easily. Ivanans was brave to stand there and throw without trying for the big hug or the Belak spin move.
That was a good showing by Boogaard. Not only did he dominate, the domination was based upon good, hard and accurate punching. He has evolved quite a bit from the time when he won only because he was bigger.
Clear win for Boogaard.
I thought this was a good fight. Boogy with some nice shots. Ivanans is still a beast too tho, 1 of few that hang with Boogy
Nice win for the Booger. I was surprised to see this one last so long, as Boogaard was at the end of a (rare) long shift!
Bombs away.....all Boogaard. he"s #1.
Boogy hit him on the side of head with some serious bombs. For those who think Ivanans wasn't worse for the wear...he went straight to the lockerroom and not sure if he came back. You simply do not get hit in the side of the head with that much force and say you are ok. Had Ivanans address Boogy instead of alwasy looking away, he would have been hit in the face, however his unwillingness to initiate throwing (all he did was counter) kept the side and back of his head as the only options. Very easy win for boogy.
Win Boogaard in a good scrap. He was mad when he didnt get a shot to retalliate vs the Oilers, then when Parros as a no show, so Ivanans got the call. Glad he answered.
Clear win for Boogaard even though no damage was done. I think that a lot of people don't care for Boogaard because he is so passionless when he fights. His size has the respect of the league players, but until he gets a good mean on, he won't the respect of the league fans(non-homers). It's a shame because he is very likeable off the ice.
Boogaard with a big victory, landed a lot more punches and was able to keep Ivanans away.
Okay the win has to go to Booogie but let's be fair it was close and Ivanans doesn't look any worse for the wear. For those of you saying Boogaard is the best ..........he's not Laraque and Brashear are the best in that order, having said that Boogard is not to far behind........ I would venture he is the best in the west.........But Laraque now he's the BEAST in the east AND BEFORE ANY WILD OR WESTERN FANS SAY IT NOT LEAST ,,,,,,,,,,, JUST BEAST Honorable mention must also go to Bostons' Thornton...... But please let's not bring up chicken little or is it chicken Lucic................L O L
Great fight a lot of punches thrown by both. Boogaard landed more. Boogaard with the win.
Narrow win for Boogaard
boogaard wins, but good bout by boh
Boogaard was landing some big punches, ivanans hung in and landed a few of his own. Win Boogaard
Boogaard all the way and what i think is boogaard is a beast
WOW what a couple of monsters. Boogaard is one scary mother. I gave him the win as he seemed to land a few more shots than Ivanans, but a great showing by both in a very very good fight.
that was a good fight i always like when these two fight, im not sure what happened to ivanans, but he didnt sit in the penalty box he left the ice after this one.
pretty easily goes to boogaard
Good fight, edge to the Boogster.
Boogaard's reach was apparently showing and Ivanans wasn't able to place any decent hits on Boogaard...
great fight.. close... but give the W to Boogey
raitis didnt look so hot boogie win boogie hasnt beaten big goerges yet
Boogaard controlled the fight from start to finish. Boogey landed 3 or 4 stunning blows, Ivanans fought hard, but not enough against Boogaard. Once my man Boogey beats Laraque we can call him number 1. But still, he is the solid number 2 fighter in the Nhl.
What a fight! About 20 thrown, maybe 10 landed for the Boogeyman. Ivananas held his own, but though he landed a couple solid throws, he never had the 2-3 GOOD pops that Boogaard did. Close fight, but DEFINATELY a win for Boooooooogaaaaaaard!
THE BOOGY MAN KICKS A**
pwnage by boogey
Ratislav wouldn't be intimidated.
If Boogaard is the man then so is Belak. Godard on his tail? Try Colton Orr.
Give slight edge to Boo...don't think it was as lopsided as they say. Not much landed.
Win Boogaard, as he landed a lot more. Not sure about the almost 20% of voters at the moment who saw it differently... I'd like to call them homers, but I wasn't aware LA had any fans..
When a guy is feeding you pretty good then you are in his range and need to change the distance, either closer to him or further away. Ivanans did not do this. Thus, he lost.
Ok fight though nothing special. Appeared as if it was it in slow motion-plodding.
Boogaard won, but he isn't the best in the NHL until he beats Belak. According to the announcer, Boogaard grew an inch during the fight. He was 6'7" when it started and 6'8" by the time it was over.
"The Boogaard homers are pretty much the worst on this site, he wins no matter what in their eyes but in reality, he doesn't. he's slow and big and his size and strength often are over rated. He SHOULD win every fight" You call Boogy fans homers because we think he wins no matter what...... than you say he should win every fight after pointing out his downfalls........ Dude, I dont have a clue what your talking about, you must like the sound of your own voice!!
Ivanans had no confidence and it showed. Clear win for Boogaard.
Did Ivanans ever beat Boogaard?
2 bigguns throwin...win boogeyman,who landed more
that was an impressive show of stamina for two big dudes throwing that much. boogard takes the fight, ivanans did ok though . boogey hasn't taken down bgl so he's not the champ yet. but as others have said here. EVERYBODY loses sometimes so the only thing you can really do is pick the top five in no particular order
Boogeyman with a clear an decisive victory.
Ivanans landed one good shot halfway through, but couldn't make up for the damage Boogaard did throughout the entire fight.
Too much reach for boogie!!!
nice heavyweight bout. boogy gets the best of it
A win for The Boogeyman.
Win Boogaard, but Ivanans hung right in there. Boogaard is just plain big.
Good heavyweight scrap. Advantage Boogaard.
It's clobbering time... nuff said
Come on you Boogaard haters! Boogaard got the clear win in this one Who is call this a draw/win for ivanans?
They Boogeyman wins another
Win Boogaard
Ivanans didnt land a punch. Edge to Boogaard
Clear win for Boogaard
Boogaard continues his dominance over Ivanans
