The voting on this fight is starting to remind me of the Godard/Brashear a few years back. Godard got Brashear to bleed, but Brashear landed more, but Godard received more votes on a "win" this fight: King landeds a few lefts and a good right that broke Boogaard's nose. Boogaard comes back landing a big a right sending king's helmet flying. After that, king turtled and maybe threw a punch at the end, while boogaard remained active, landing a few solid shots before the refs broke it up. And to all the morons who think, BLOOD = a win. Of course you can punch a break someone's nose which blood will come, but it doesnt mean someone wins a fight. Watch the fight closely. Draw/edge boogaard

Posted by af99 on March 16, 2010 at 12:28 AM

Maybe Boogaard should be a man and lose the helmet. Dump the gear if you want to be known as a fighter, cause he's sure not known for his talent.

start was quite exciting but it was a long fught and it was kinda boring at the end.i call it a draw becuz of boogaards bleeding nose

Posted by 5fourfighten on March 15, 2010 at 04:03 PM

Announce says 2 of the NHL biggest heavy weights? KING 6'2" 228 ?????? Out weighted by 30 some odd lbs and half a foot, D.J. King fights the Boogie man to a draw. Interesting tactic of dropping the head and throwing rights like former Heavy Weight Boxing Champ Ken Norton.

derek boogaard win

Posted by Spartan2424 on March 14, 2010 at 09:25 PM

I fairly new to this site. Judging fights, to me, cuts mean nothing. King cut Boogaard early, but Boogaard definitely landed more, King seemed to be somewhat dazed at the end. Both guys put up a great effort. I'd call it a draw/slight edge to Boogaard for landing more solid and effective blows.

Posted by ahartnack on March 15, 2010 at 09:18 PM

' Boogard with more "lighter" punches. King with less "stronger" punches. Draw.

Posted by lb1631 on March 15, 2010 at 09:45 AM

Good scrap but I think this was a draw

Posted by penman1188 on March 15, 2010 at 12:34 PM

I am a wild fan, and that wasnt cool by scott. King wanted boogey and he held up to him. I think Boogy had a little edge but i said draw cause both exchanged good blows.. Good fight!

Posted by seipmoney on March 15, 2010 at 06:05 PM

long bout, it seemed like boogaard landed more punches, however it seemed king landed better shots, im leaning towards boogaard, but because he was all jacked up after, i went with a draw!

Posted by slavv on March 16, 2010 at 06:12 PM

Even fight. No advantage either way, here.

Posted by Jeeper on March 15, 2010 at 01:46 PM

I have to call this one a close draw. It appeared that the boogerman landed more punches, but Kinger landed the one that counted. Boogerman left the ice, not to return...that should be enough to give King the win (It's not always the blows, but the results that count) , but call it a draw anyway. ** having problems understanding how folks could give Booger the win...He left the Ice, not to return. Waste of a roster spot. Still would love to give this to King, but have to stick with the draw.

Posted by forsberg21 on March 14, 2010 at 08:39 PM

What a fight. King had it early, then Boogaard pretty much controlled, but didn't really land anything like King did. This a draw, in my book.

Posted by Chaserfan39 on March 14, 2010 at 11:16 PM

Nice scrap between two big guys. Boogaard landed more but King lands the best punch.

Posted by riffraff on March 15, 2010 at 05:23 PM

great fight. no doubt King landed some good shots early, but IMO he hung on after his helmet got popped off and just wanted to tie Boogy up. fan of neither although props to King for doin well against the champ.

Posted by paddyd on March 15, 2010 at 12:31 PM

Although King landed the biggest shot I still have to call it a draw.

Posted by Ripper20 on March 15, 2010 at 09:43 AM

Great scrap by the big fellows. I have to give it a draw. I'm really unsure how a fight can rate out 44% one guy and 42% the other guy...unless a lot of homers are voting. Or, it could be the Boogie haters voting against him. Not sure what the damage to Boogie was, but as far as punches go, I think it was pretty even.

Posted by ETR on March 14, 2010 at 10:40 PM

tough to call, Boogaard more active, King landed the best punch of the fight. Great scrap, give it an 8 and a draw

Posted by MSUfaninMO on March 15, 2010 at 01:45 AM

I'm going to give this one a draw. Boogie man landed more but it looks like King landed the ones that did the most damage. Boogie controlled the fight but I'll give it a DRAW

Posted by b.t.wilson on March 14, 2010 at 08:10 PM

great, great fight. i hold my breath every time boogaard fights, just waiting for one of those monster hammers of his to kill someone. king is lucky those two in a row didn't connect solid, yikes. not many can hold their own against boogaard, fantastic job my king here. all the respect in the world for what he did. calling it a draw and an 8, that was one damn good fight.

Posted by mullet33 on March 16, 2010 at 09:32 AM

Draw and a good one.

Posted by staceyb on March 14, 2010 at 11:21 PM

Boogie with the bloody nose but he was throwing them, too. D.J. King is a top heavyweight but Panger has certainly elevated him even higher.

Posted by nighthawk walt on March 15, 2010 at 06:59 PM

Good bout, both had their moments, call it a draw.

Posted by bruins rule on March 14, 2010 at 08:04 PM

very good fight between these 2 guys.

Posted by boldbilly on March 15, 2010 at 05:16 PM

I called it a draw . Too close to give ti to either and I don't give points or a win just because someone is bleeding. More shots seemed to land for Boogey but the better ones' by King...............so DRAW GREAT FIGHT GAVE IT A ..8 RATING

Posted by commander on March 15, 2010 at 11:24 AM

Great fight to watch....give the slight edge to B.J. with his powerful punches that sent Derek to the showers. I'm still not convinced that the 6'7" Boogie could stand up to a comparable man his size (someone like Chara) and win convincingly enough to recieve the claim of being today's best heavyweight. He in fact may be just one heavyweight fight away from going to the AHL.

Posted by kronvallizer78 on March 15, 2010 at 01:06 PM

Good bout folks. Mad props to DJ for not only showing up in this tilt but giving boogie a run for his money. He pounded him with a big right at the start resulting in a cut for boogie and doesn`t puss away like jackbags such as hordisuck. Boogie after being a bit stunned recovers and drills king with a flurry of rights. Very spirited scrap by both combatants give this one a draw

Posted by jakethesnake on March 15, 2010 at 02:10 PM

A lot of different feedback on this fight for sure......I gave it a draw as a hockey fight, boxing ring would have gave it to Booger on pts.....After watching this fight a few times, DJ lands a very good punch, then hangs on for dear life....Boogers shot to the head, see the flying helmet reminded me of a kocur or probie punch, if that connected flush to the face, we would not be debating.....Rumors are that Booger has a broken nose and/or took stitches??? who knows rright now.....Funniest comments were by Janssen calling out Booger for no respect for a player and showboating?? Dj challenged and Booger accepted, where was the no respect or showboating?? I like DJ, cant stand Janssen, never did.....

Posted by tcohen on March 15, 2010 at 01:18 AM

A serious fight. King nails Boogard with two or three hard rights, opening him up. Boogard sends King's helmet flying with a mighty right. Would give King the win except he was holding on at the end, waiting for the zebras.

Posted by Poop Sandwich on May 02, 2014 at 02:03 AM

Great technique from King. Head down, throwing overhands at the taller Boogard. Boogard obviously stronger, pushing King around. Both connected with some devastating punches. Boogard's liver punches were overlooked by Kelly. Draw.

Posted by unvy on March 15, 2010 at 08:12 AM

bloody face + not return= Loss boogie

Posted by Rynryn on March 15, 2010 at 10:03 AM

King had those two nasty punches but boogaard was only stopped by the refs when he couldn't break free from kings grip. He got a few shots in, too, and cut or not he was obviously the only one trying to fight for the last half of that bout. Gotta be a draw. Great fight! Hope they both stay healthy so we see more of this! Draw. If you score only on blood, King wins it. If you take into account Kings best shots didn't even slow down boogaard (though they looked hard as fk!) boogaard wins based on activity.

Posted by hockeybros on March 15, 2010 at 02:22 PM

Huge King fan, but this is IMO a 100% draw. Boogaard threw more, King landed two of the best three shots in the fight. There was a good picture of Boogaards face on the Blues telecast as he skated off the ice, and he was actually busted open in two places: his nose and above his eye. King lands that early bomb, then Boogaard gets the helmet spinner, then a few seconds after King pops him on the brow busting him open again. Thats the first time I recall Boogaard being bloodied. I was nervous for King when I saw him calling out Boogaard and then squaring off like that, because he had gotten worked over in the previous two bouts, but he got good position and hung in there. Thats two top five fighters at their best. I'm sure Boogaard will be anxious to redeem himself next year.

wow that john scott guy is a douche. what a cheap shot on weaver. if boogaard wasnt out there then scott would have gotten his ass beat

Posted by Bruins29 on March 15, 2010 at 06:57 PM

Great fight. I'd like to give the edge to King for cutting Boogaard...but Derek came back strong after taking that right. I am calling it a draw.

Posted by kryon24 on March 15, 2010 at 08:16 PM

That's a battle. King did much better than usual against this ape and lands a couple of beauties. Missing Link then tags him with some bombs and he stayed upright. I'll call it a draw even though the tree was cut and King solidifies himself as a legit contender for the title.

Posted by bawlaz on March 14, 2010 at 09:11 PM

I dont understand how anyone can give the edge to Boogaard. Just read the post from the guy who was there. Boogards face was detroyed and his eye and nose were bleeding pretty good. Boogaard did not return due to broken nose. Solid shots King 2 Boogard 1. Helmet shots dont count. I guess you are the same people who gave the edge to Barch over King. Lets be real here.

Posted by Muscles on March 18, 2010 at 06:10 PM

Nice showing by King against the big guy.

Posted by Robbtower on March 15, 2010 at 08:45 PM

Almost a draw but,,, If you need stitches on your forehead and your nose is broke and you can't return to the game You Lose! Winner King.

Posted by grappler11 on March 16, 2010 at 12:47 AM

good fight, but if your nose get broken, i think you lose, glad Kong is back, now if he can get ahold of Ott edge to King landed the better punches, Boogie landed more, but if they have to scrap your blood off the ice, you lose

Posted by jemihami on March 14, 2010 at 08:50 PM

Win for King. DJ did what works against Boogaard, get in close and let 'em fly. Props for Boogaard for not going down after King connected with the bomb. Un-props (?) for holding on and turning away at the end. Always like King and was hoping that he and Scott would go.

Posted by tyrone on March 14, 2010 at 10:13 PM

As a Wild fan, I expect more from the Booger. He is way overrated. He thinks he is so bad and if it wasn't for his size, he would be nothing. Clumsy clumsy clumsy. John Scott would kill booger. I was at the game and Booger lost. He never came back as he left with a busted nose. Get in close and you can beat Booger. Let him throw hay makers and he will hurt you. That's why BGL will always beat him, because he gets in close. Not a homer fan here, just being honest.

Posted by omorales on April 02, 2010 at 11:19 AM

DJ King gotta get the Win, nearly TKOed Boogey...

Posted by bleedblue81 on March 15, 2010 at 08:34 AM

win king. boogaard was a bloody mess at the end.

Posted by Joey_Kocur_26 on March 15, 2010 at 10:37 AM

I give the win to our favourit DJ. Boogey got his nose smashed. Just take a look at Kings hand in the end of the vid. Great fight from both of them.

Posted by jackmcc100 on March 15, 2010 at 08:45 PM

Great fight, very close but have to give the edge to King for busting Boogard's face.

Posted by brazos on March 14, 2010 at 10:53 PM

Due to the damage to Boogie's face I have to give this one to King. Boogie won on punch count but he did no damage. King was giving away 6" in height and 30+ lbs. First fighter that I have seen that left a mark on the Boogie man. King will have them lining up for a go with the man who "Shot Boogie" Just one added comment: When the fight was over and the players separated, who would you rather have been ? King or Boogie? King with a possible noogie or Boogie with a beat-in face?

Posted by SirYohans on March 14, 2010 at 08:19 PM

Tough one to call. I'll go with edge DJ King.

Posted by boneyard on March 15, 2010 at 12:31 PM

This is a hockey fight. You can't out point an opponent. Boogard was retired for rest of the game by King. Yes, one punch can win a fight in the world outside of pro boxing. King wins his first against Boogey (his face is all the evidence there needs to be).

Posted by Joel the Banker on March 14, 2010 at 10:58 PM

Watched the game, DJ busted Boogs nose open bad, blood was pouring out of it, which you can't see on this, but, that's why Boog goes to the locker room and not the penatly box that you do see in this.

Posted by Bigarms on March 14, 2010 at 09:32 PM

Anytime you're on the road and send the bigger and better fighter to his trainers room for repairs, I'll give you the win. DJ was King for the day. Boogaard stayed with him knocking his helmet off with a punch that King could of been picked up for speeding in Honululu, but that said after the fight there were two injuries. The first was Boogaards face and the second was Kings hand. It doesn't take a genius to figure out who won this one. Good fight but I hold Boogaard to a higher level. At home he's suppose to send King back to his lockerroom.

Posted by moneybags on March 14, 2010 at 08:24 PM

Posted by RichterNYR35 on April 15, 2010 at 07:17 PM

This is what happens when Boogard fights someone as strong as him. Two fat shots to the nose and he loses.

Posted by mightyquin on March 15, 2010 at 06:31 PM

king with the edge for making booger have to get repairs for a broke nose

Posted by tjoshielover on April 05, 2010 at 08:24 PM

I dont know how any one could think that Boogaard won? Look at his face after the fight! His blood is on kings fist!

Posted by bboyer on March 14, 2010 at 08:36 PM

Saw this live Boogaard was cut and his face was a mess ---he went to the room and has'nt come back--- King in a very close tilt, landed less but far better shots--- look at their faces when it's over tells ya who the loser was

Posted by muhoop on March 15, 2010 at 02:55 PM

Nice tilt, very slight edge to King because of the monster shot. Most any other fighter would have been KO'd, but Boogard shows he can take a punch and be a top offensive fighter. Derek has probably not seen that much of his own blood before.

Posted by zeke2008 on March 15, 2010 at 02:44 PM

just because boogard landed more doesnt mean they were more effective. look at boogards face and you will see how effective kings hits were

Posted by rericker on March 14, 2010 at 07:52 PM

Great fight by 2 heavyweights!! Boogaard was in control for most of the fight, but King landed the better shots. Boogaard let the ice in a bloody mess and did not return to the game, Im guessing its was more than a few stiches or else he would have returned to the game. Win for King in a close great fight!!!

Posted by topshelf331 on March 14, 2010 at 10:45 PM

Boogaard didn't even return, how could he have won this. King won this.

Good job DJ!

Posted by peorivs72 on March 15, 2010 at 08:11 PM

Not one of the best performances by either, considering what each is capable of, but a really good fight for King against a much bigger man. Luckily Boogy missed with most of his rights and King got him with two good rights. Gotta give the nod to Kinger for damage, avoiding damage and landing the better (although fewer) punches. Great job Kinger, you are missed in Peoria!!!

Posted by Cob37Jam on March 17, 2010 at 04:53 PM

DJ King slight edge. Boogey lost. Even Kocur lost occasionally.

Posted by Benny_blanco11 on March 18, 2010 at 02:47 PM

I'm still surprised by all the Green Boogerman [email protected] every time I browse the comments. Good fight, but clearly not domination especially if you need repairs and you're skating backwards during most of the tilt. Better percentage King, more thrown Boogaard... but sewn up and a broken nose? Ouch! 50.5% King ps. a boogie is what my 3 year old daughter wipes on the T.V. every time Chicago is playing.

Posted by rangerfan410 on March 14, 2010 at 10:11 PM

Total props to Kinger for hanging with Goliath. Boogard is an animal and King took some shots, more than he gave, but he buckled Boog, and that's a win on my card.

Posted by jrh on March 15, 2010 at 07:17 AM

I have to give King the W based on the injuries Boogaard received. King landed fewer punches but he landed the two biggest in the fight. Boogey landed more but many were body punches (which may hurt but I don't count them). Boogaard never returned from the locker room. Looked like he had a broken nose and a cut over his eye. DJ King with the win on effectiveness.

Posted by not2quick on March 15, 2010 at 01:58 AM

Even though Boogy threw more i say DJ got the last laugh on this one, connected with two hard shots (that didn't even stun em, damn) and Boog never came back from the damage sustained.

Posted by mooser55 on March 15, 2010 at 03:20 AM

Good start by King ,seemed to tire near the end giving boogey the slight edge there ,but overall win in a close one by king.

Posted by teejay on March 14, 2010 at 10:35 PM

Boogey more punches, more landed. BUT Kinger does the damage with the two best punches. DJ with slight edge.

Posted by illinidarin on March 15, 2010 at 12:38 PM

It was a great fight and it depends on how you want to judge a fight. Boogaard threw a few more punches, but King did more damage to Boogaards face. More of a draw, but i can see where you can give boogaard a slight edge. Very good showing for king though. (edit) Watch the play in slow motion you will see the first part of the fight where both landed two each, but Kings punches broke Boogaards nose and gave him a cut by the eye. I wonder how many people would want to fight king now after this fight? (edit) some of you people are blind because King landed 2 punches, not 1. You saw the first big one but when they were near the boards king threw 2 more punches, the first one missed, but the second one was the shot on his nose. you have to watch it closely but you can clearly see the shot to the nose. After that is when King got in close which what was his gameplan. he talked to Chase and Jansens about the best way to fight him. The both agreed he has stay in close.

Posted by drop em on March 15, 2010 at 05:10 PM

do you really think boogey went into the locker room , saw his face and and thought " boy i really showed him " he may never recover from a beating this bad . rodney king didnt

Posted by doglanta on March 16, 2010 at 09:05 PM

King- winner. The other winner is the Red Cross after receiving a large and steady blood donation by the Booger. There can be no other decision as one of the combatants was unable, or too scared, to return to the ice. Hopefully the Booger had some extra tampons in his purse to stuff up what was left of his nose to slow the gusher as he was taken screaming and crying to the nearest gynecologist for repair. The good news is that now with his nose almost touching his right ear he won't be able to smell how badly he stinks as a hockey player as much anymore. It turns out Ms. Booger is missing at least a second game tonight as result of his beat down. I see King is playing tonight. The winner plays while the looser listens to the tweetie birds in his head in the pressbox (that is if he even ever made it out of the ICU). The other good news is that Booger may now qualify for a handicapped parking space. R.I.P. Ms. Booger.

Posted by Spanky_Jazz on March 15, 2010 at 03:17 AM

Great fight. Slight edge to King.

Posted by Looters23 on March 15, 2010 at 11:21 AM

I don't get how some say Boogaard won. Yes, he threw more punches, but they did no damage. Boogaard is the one who left the game with cuts under his eye, on his forehead and a broken nose. I don't know about you but I'd rather be DJ King this morning. Damage was done, King wins.

Posted by belly05 on March 15, 2010 at 03:45 PM

Very close fight, have to give the edge to King he ended Boogaard's night, broken nose and cuts to the face. Good fight by both guys though.

Posted by StLBlueBlood on March 15, 2010 at 05:56 PM

Good fight, King landed bigger shots, Boogie landed more though. Call this a draw.

Posted by Blackhawk23 on March 15, 2010 at 06:08 PM

Wow! King with the slight win. Good scrap either way.

Posted by Black Ice on March 15, 2010 at 07:35 AM

Additional video shows the damage done to Boogaard as he leaves the ice. Given how little King has been fighting this season I give him the win. No signs of rust. He tuned Boogaard up with a couple of great punches and then Boogaard tied King up for the remainder to prevent any further damage to his face...

Posted by rowbearprobear on March 15, 2010 at 08:30 PM

now that is a 7 bitches!! hell, I give it at least an 8! total sweetness gave it to king even though boogie controlled the action (as someone else said) boogey was a bloody mess the freak gets beat but, had control seemingly throughout even though he could have went down easily with one of those helmet crushers king throws love the way this one started out though the cameara man was never goning to pan over thanks for this site man, people don't appreciate how cool this site really is

Posted by runky on March 15, 2010 at 12:17 AM

Bigger, heavier shots by DJ - which is saying alot when you are fighting Bogey. DJ's hand was sore, Bogey's face was bloodied. Clear win for DJ.

Posted by crosscheck52 on March 14, 2010 at 09:38 PM

This was a good bout....wow. I think King had a bit of an edge in this.

Posted by shuckthefarks on March 15, 2010 at 10:57 AM

Heck of a fight. Gotta give credit to King for the duck and get in close approach and doing some noticeable damage. King took some shots too with no ill effects. Slight edge to King in this one. Maybe Boogey was thinking ahead to the Vancouver game.....and Hordichump.

Posted by Zipper on March 15, 2010 at 03:24 AM

The Boogeyman threw more but King Kong busted that face up. You don't return to the game you don't win.

Posted by Caps44 on July 28, 2010 at 10:43 PM

great example of fair fighting (vs teh Cooke vs Sevard effort of last season). King returned to the ice; Boogaard did not. The fact that Boog continued to throw punches is interesting, but they didn't appear to hurt King. King didn't knock Boog down, but otherwise was very effective in keeping the game "honest." Yes, I give it to King by a very slim edge. More importantly, I learned about the role of each on their respective teams.

Posted by cb1969 on March 15, 2010 at 10:14 AM

Give the win to King in a close fight for landing more and heavier punches. Great to see someone take the fight to Boogaard and stay in close. Quality fight!

Posted by MO>MARK on March 14, 2010 at 09:15 PM

Great fight. I have to give King the decision. Boogaard was more active, but King landed the biggest punches.Boogaard's face was a mess. He did not return to the game.

Posted by sluggo999 on March 14, 2010 at 11:10 PM

Clear win for King. Did you people not see Boogard's head snap back from two of King's punches? Not saying Boogard didn't land some good ones too, but let's be real here. King messed up Boogard reeeeaaaal bad! His face looked like it had been put through a blender. The only thing hurting on King at the end of this one was his hand. Clear win for King!

Posted by strid74 on March 14, 2010 at 11:16 PM

Boogaard is a no good hack. He's just a trouble maker. If he were such a tough guy, he would have stayed in the game. The Wild are better off with him in the locker room anyways.

Bogey threw more. DJ landed the most important one. !! DJ IS KING !!

Posted by loki03xlh on March 15, 2010 at 02:39 PM

A good, close fight, but Kinger gets the decision. If you have any doubts, check out this pic fo Boogaard after the fight: http://cdn.nhl.com/images/upload/2010/03/97701867_slide.jpg

Posted by Scarc on March 15, 2010 at 04:52 PM

King held up great against Boogaard. He had his hands full with him but did considerably well and produced more damage. But Boogaard had many more shots in than king. See how king did the first time he went against this beast in his rookie season in 2007. you willl see how king grew as a great fighter. Slight edge to King

Posted by don09313 on April 02, 2010 at 08:54 PM

D.J. King made Boogard bleed . Boogard nothin but an overgrown B#tch.

Posted by Mounty in NC on January 27, 2013 at 12:26 PM

Great fight....very close but I give it to King

Posted by Wudal on March 14, 2010 at 11:15 PM

I will admit it was a great fight, but how Boogard is winning in votes is beyond me. 1:33 mark on the the additional video, image speaks for itself. Whether or not someone goes to the box or the dressing room after a fight is a HUGE indicator of who won.

Posted by brad houghton on March 14, 2010 at 10:54 PM

pretty well reviewed fight (so far) for a change....seems like less pillow fighting by the keyboard crew Boogy dictated the fight and landed more but King landed better....tough call but with Boogy leaving and not returning to the ice i would have to say King gets the win....from watching it was too close to call but some fights the final result lets us know who won did we hear why Boogie didn't return...we know he was cut but was there more?

Posted by LaRocque22 on March 23, 2010 at 11:49 PM

Great fight both ways

Posted by scoobycub on March 15, 2010 at 09:32 AM

Wow what a fight!Amazed there some people that want to judge the fight on points and a helmet flying off.The object of fighting is to neutralize the threat of the enforcer.Four minutes into the game and eleven seconds into his shift and one the scariest enforcers in the league has to leave the game because the red cross alert was going off .When someone has to leave cause their nose is broke, cut over eye and busted lip there is a clear winner. Also for the homer who said Boogie has owned King in every fight clearly hasnt watch them fight each other in the AHL!Win for King in a close and great battle!

Posted by toytiger on April 03, 2010 at 09:37 PM

amazing how many guys have the boxing mentality of quanity over quality Boogaard landed many more but in no way dominated DJ King who landed his share but in the end Boogaard had to have his nose shuffled 2 inches back to the center and as for DJ just some ice for a very sore hand

Posted by Bassen28 on March 15, 2010 at 06:39 PM

that was awesome

Posted by DjKingIsTheMan on March 15, 2010 at 07:27 PM

What a fight. Boogaard w/ some good shots, King with the better shots. Looked like Boogaard's lips was messed up at the end but cant be sure. Boogaard w/ alot of punches but i will give it to King for staying in it and landing some good punches. UPDATE: Boogaard suffered a broken nose, cut under the eye, and cuts to the forehead. I like how so many are saying that king was holding on. name one fighter in the NHL that hasnt held on. Boogaard shouldn't even be in the NHL. He is a shaved sasquatch.

Posted by usmcaaron on March 15, 2010 at 09:26 AM

Boogaard's face tells the story. Win King Kong.

Posted by bruiser11 on March 14, 2010 at 09:54 PM

The big goon Boogaard got some big ones in but I give this one to King, not by much but it was nice to finally see the big goon Boogaard get lit up with a shot or 2. All he tries to do is hurt people so it was nice to see him busted for once!

Posted by busrider85 on May 14, 2010 at 04:16 PM

Excellent job both platers. Boogaard left and that tells who won right there.

Posted by kimo_coyote on March 15, 2010 at 12:17 AM

Who goes to the locker room and who goes to the box. Edge King, What a fight. Easy to call it a draw.

Posted by scooter_14 on March 14, 2010 at 11:37 PM

great fight and have to give win to king for messing up boogards face. in street fight boogy goes home to momma and doesn,t come back.

Posted by GCBC00 on March 15, 2010 at 12:02 PM

Nice to see the big guys giver er and go at it to the full extent and leave nothing behind. Both guys came together during a scrm along the boards and DJ call Derek out. Derek obliged and the fireworks went off after a nice square off. Both threw with either hand and landed plenty of quality punches. Of course Derek had the height and weight advantage, as he usually does, but Dj fought smart, staying low, out of the reach of Derek's jabs and overhands, most landing on the back of the head of DJ, if not shoulder pads. DJ caught Derek with a couple nice rights straight on the button and caused some serious damage to Derek, causing him to go for a check up and possible repairs afterwards. After rewatching this on the HD it is obvious Derek LOST this fight due to the clear damage-never to return. Derek was truly damaged...in fact never retururned to the game=one shift for 11 seconds with King having plenty more shifts after the fight. Boogaard goes for repairs, never to return, and King goes to the box to ice his knuckles. WIN KING!

Posted by patrfootball on March 14, 2010 at 08:45 PM

How can anyone say King didn't win that???? Did you see Boogaard's face???? CMON!

Posted by Ammo11 on March 15, 2010 at 07:35 PM

DJ is, well, the King of this bout. Oh sure, the Big Boogy was throwing alot and dancing, but where the rubber meets the road, DJ flattened this guys tires. I mean, the big dude left the ice with his face bloodied up pretty bad. It was a good fight to watch though, so both of these bruisers win points for their effort.

Posted by BLUESFAN18 on March 15, 2010 at 03:55 PM

boog the bully was a bloody mess and was a no show the rest of the game ...King did well for once against him.I wish the blues had Scott.....

Posted by kingwins123 on March 15, 2010 at 01:12 AM

Great fight. Both Scott and Boogaard wanted King, and I thought Scott may go with King later in the game. Boogaard threw more punches, but virtually everything went off Kings helmet or the back of his head. King through fewer punches, but made them count. Boogaards face was covered with blood, and his nose looked to be broken as he skated off the ice. Is there any word on if Boogaard suffered another concussion with the one big punch by King that knocked his head back about 6 inches. All of the obvious damage in this fight was to Boogaard. Win to King!

Posted by icedpuck on December 11, 2010 at 10:40 AM

solid tilt

Posted by Ranginute on March 14, 2010 at 10:40 PM

Thought fight was even until saw the bloodied press pics of Boogard and heard he had broken nose. King did more damage.

Posted by winchester1510 on March 16, 2010 at 11:19 AM

Boogaard threw more punches but in the end king did way more damage i definetly think that King Won this one

Posted by TheTurk on March 17, 2010 at 04:39 AM

Win to King on the road. Sends the big Boogeyman to the locker room for the night with a busted up face with two big solid punches that almost knocked the 270 lb man off his feet. I think Boogey was physically hurting more than King after this fight. http://cdn.nhl.com/images/upload/2010/03/97701867_slide.jpg Anytime you send the home teams tough guy to the locker room early in the first period for bloody repairs and he doesn't return...that's a win in my book. If it had gone longer(??)...who knows?

Posted by TheDoob4 on March 17, 2010 at 01:47 PM

Great Fight! Give King the edge, that stick to the nose of Boogard was a bomb. He had Boogie backing up the whole time. King is back, the heavyweight belt will soon be his. Good to see him healthy. Btw, whoever said Godard is the camp right now is a moron. I'd say Orr is the champ right now. I want to see Orr & King dance, badly.

Posted by Blues 34 on March 15, 2010 at 03:13 PM

Just going on punches thrown and landed boogaard gets the win in a great fight but since boogaard was bleeding badly and didnt return to the game you would think that there was some damage done to him that was sufficient. The fact that boogaard didnt return gives king the win here in my opinion

Posted by CrossCheck on March 15, 2010 at 03:20 PM

Gotta go King, damage is everything, hockey fighting is scored on beauty points, King punched the giant out of the game. Boogs fought well and he scored more shots, but rib shots don't mean sh*t, blood does, King WIN!!!

Posted by crazyschwaab on March 15, 2010 at 02:55 PM

Posted by jcrash on March 15, 2010 at 03:06 PM

Posted by stevkrause on March 15, 2010 at 11:44 AM

Great go, very slight edge to King who landed more major blows early and held on to make most of Boog's later shots miss

Posted by kingpintoo on March 21, 2010 at 01:15 PM

Boogaard has 30 lbs and 6 inches on King. King broke Boogaard's face, nose and jaw. Boogaard won't fight for a long time. He got hit so hard, his punches after that right were like feathers in a breeze. King showed mercy as he knew he hurt Boogaard. It was a real ass kicking. Boogaard didn't return after his first face changing shift and .... ...didn't play next game either. He didn't play the game after that. He didn't play the next game after that one either. So King knocked him out of three more games plus the game he got knocked out of. King did play many more shifts that game regardless of what some on this blog say. Look at the stats... Anyone who voted for Boogaard or for draw is a stupid jerk loser bum from the Cities or from the more backward part of Mn. Count punches, do whatever, it doesn't change the ass kickin. Win to DJ "the King" Rehab for Boogaard.

Posted by Enfilade on March 15, 2010 at 08:56 AM

Wow, great fight. It's not often you see boogard loose a punch-in-the-face contest like this. He didn't get dominated by any means, but the shots that King landed did pretty solid damage, Boogie stunned him with a shot or two, but I give the edge win to King. Again, great fight.

KING WIN for breaking Boogards face all over.. Look at the Additional video/Minnesota feed to see boogers face as he skated to the dressing room. Wouldn't want to be that guy. picture: http://tr.im/RUdS

Posted by mattsquadcar on March 15, 2010 at 12:43 AM

Great fight. King landed some power punches early and Boogard got some rabbit punches off late but it looked like most were deflecting off the back of King's head and pads. The Blues's King and Janssen are really solid at switching hands and being effective with either hand. King took some shots but Quality over Quantity in this one. King wins 55/45...close, great bout!

Posted by dcmac on March 15, 2010 at 05:12 AM

Edge Boogaard, seemed like they were both being careful and rightly so.

Posted by Dampland on March 19, 2010 at 10:38 PM

Victory Boogaard - King was hanging on for dear life. Afraid to actually exchange punches with the Boogey Man

Posted by ThrowdownSJ408 on March 15, 2010 at 09:00 PM

I wish DJ was healthy this year. and good to see Boogy finally fight damn. Damn good bout in this game. Boogy didnt return i guess but its more than likely he didnt cuz he sucks at hockey and already got his dirty work done with. DJ had the best 2 punches but boogy had control and a lot more shots. hard to score. dont wanna give this great bout a draw so ima go with boogy even tho hes an asshole. people say its not an 8? why not thats a B lol 82%. people score too low

Posted by yotesman on March 15, 2010 at 12:38 AM

Great fight, gotta give the edge to King

Posted by cory411 on March 15, 2010 at 02:18 AM

I have to give it to King... He is much smaller and he seems to be the only one that will stand up to BOOGIE..... Boogaard left the game with a broken nose, his face was trashed with that punch... King took Derek out of the game within 4:00mins of the game starting.... I would have to think Dereks face is broken somewhere. WAY TO GO KING...... NICE TO SEE HIM BACK AND KICKN SOME ASS!!!!! I give the fight to the guy that stays in the game... Boogie fcukn left the game after the fight... 4mins into the game.... I think King wins just for that and he being much smaller!!!!!

Posted by billgoldberg14 on March 15, 2010 at 12:51 PM

king dominated. I don't think Boogard even landed a punch. Who taught him how to fight? Sidney Crosby?

Posted by pittbullman on March 15, 2010 at 10:47 PM

DJ King is the new King...........Put on a big giant plastic face cover and come back out boogy

Posted by sopranoguy22 on April 11, 2010 at 10:37 AM

King with the win here. Very close fight and some great blows by both but Boogards face, or what was left of it, gave the edge to King.

Posted by icehok on March 30, 2010 at 11:13 PM

Have to give the win to King since he knocked Boogaard out of action for a few games with a concussion.

Posted by nivek13 on February 15, 2011 at 05:23 PM

Boogaard has like 20-30lbs on king and spent most of the fight getting pushed around!

Posted by KMprodigy on March 16, 2010 at 09:15 PM

Clear win for Boogard. From start to the end.

Posted by Leafs2006 on March 15, 2010 at 02:01 PM

These announcers are as bad as the ones in Ottawa with " Sen's Vision"...and no sen has ever lost a fight, There is no way King won this fight...no way. Boogard all the way. All respect for King, but he bit off more than he could chew. Woof Woof!!! Free Bart Powwow the schoolyard bully!!! And for crying out loud...feeed Philadelphia " Bigdog" Collins a dozen cheeseburgers...Belch!! Woof!

Posted by Pred2Win on April 02, 2010 at 10:47 AM

Boogaard- Don't care what one punch may have done.

Posted by rawdynightz on March 14, 2010 at 08:54 PM

King didn"t throw a punch after getting tossed into the boards. I think boogie had him hurt. He was obviously holding on and waiting for the stripes. Boogaard win even though he got cut

Posted by RetardedChimp on March 16, 2010 at 04:44 PM

King started out great, but then just completely stopped fighting for some reason. Win Boogaard

Posted by Bullybeatdown on November 04, 2010 at 09:30 AM

slight edge to Boogie for the late comeback.

Posted by Sore on March 15, 2010 at 11:56 AM

King was just throwing blind punches and landed 1 lucky one that happened to catch Boogy above the eye. King has a set of women's boney hands.

Posted by Martell on March 14, 2010 at 11:06 PM

Good tilt.. Boogy wins but got popped!! Took Kings best and still handled him....

Posted by shrk33 on March 16, 2010 at 01:04 PM

Should have been another 2 on Scott for that hit on Weaver. A fantastic fight, both guys landing blows. Slight edge to Boogaard even with the cut..

Posted by FiveFoFightin on March 14, 2010 at 11:29 PM

It's funny everybody on here gets their panties in a bundle cause Boogey actually bled once!!!!! I was at the game, they fought right in front of us, good scrap. This was the first time D.J. didn't get it handed to him when fighting Boogey. D.J gets one good shot in, but gotta give it to big #24, he landed more!!!!!

Posted by Executioner on March 17, 2010 at 08:00 AM

Great fight - Boogaard wanted more, King wanted OUT. Boogaard defends his crown well and would've laid King out if King stayed opened up. Boogaard with the WIN. Close fight, but not that close.

Posted by dukeofearle on March 14, 2010 at 10:24 PM

Great Heavyweight Bout. I gave Boogey the edge, but Kinger landed some Bombs.

Posted by Oglethorpe on March 15, 2010 at 06:15 PM

King got in a couple early pops and then hung on for dear life. He just tried to tie up Boogaard so he couldn't connect with anything too damaging. I think Boogaard landed more solid punches that connected, although King did get him in the nose with a good one that drew blood. Pretty decent heavyweight scrap.

Posted by dorobo on March 16, 2010 at 11:08 PM

Honestly, not sure how people rated this an 8.0 when barely 7-8 punches connected. Gave this to Boogard for landing more shots.

Posted by jbaker3924 on March 14, 2010 at 08:49 PM

Win Boogaard. Landed the hardest punch and was much more active.

Posted by budbud1989 on March 15, 2010 at 02:10 PM

I can understand why some people say that King won this fight. He did catch Boogaard a few times and got him bloody. However, most of King's punches never hit Boogaard in the face, they hit his arm and shoulder. I give Boogaard the win for the most punches, and the harder hit that knocked Kings helmet off. Good fight.

Posted by full force five on March 14, 2010 at 08:28 PM

Great fight but boogaard with the win.

Posted by ebvan65 on March 16, 2010 at 07:44 PM

Slight edge to Boogy even though King got the shot that drew blood. I went back and watched a third time in slow mo and noticed Boogy got in some much better shots then given credit for. The body shots did make King grimace and Boogy got in some decent head shots. Got King to turn at the end which left him wide open. Refs step in and fights over. He just didn't draw blood like King.

Posted by EastKing on March 16, 2010 at 01:13 AM

Booguard with the close win. DJ King got off to a good start but Booguard controlled most of this fight.

Posted by tomdetroit on March 16, 2010 at 05:08 PM

Booger landed the harder stuff. King seems to be a helluva lot tougher nowadays. Lotta guts.

Posted by Rolithegoalie on March 15, 2010 at 12:14 AM

Nice scrap... Slight edge to Boogy

Posted by rosko815 on March 21, 2010 at 10:44 PM

King was windmilling and swinging wildly when he tagged Boogard. Pretty much a lucky punch.

Posted by scooby123 on March 15, 2010 at 01:01 AM

sorry people... just because King hits with a blind "i'm staring at the ice swinging wildly" punch.. does not mean that he wins. Boogey's a fighter and you never see him look away. If the fight keeps going, King goes down in a heap. Winner.... Boogey.

Posted by hipcheck10 on March 23, 2010 at 11:40 PM

one punch does not win a fight unless you knock the guy down and out of the fight. both were going good early and the only reason i give a slight edge to boogard was because king was hanging on and not even fighting at the end.

Posted by EDDUBBS on March 14, 2010 at 09:03 PM

Boogard with the win easily. King just was throwing aimlessly and was dominated by BDB>

Posted by mcpuck on March 14, 2010 at 10:32 PM

KIng started great but then he turned into a punching bag. I cannot understand how anyone voted for King unless you get points for being a punching bag. Boogey clear win.

Posted by Matt425 on March 18, 2010 at 05:34 PM

great fight, giving King the win because he bloodied Boogey is fukin retarded. He only got a couple shots through and then he tried to lock Boogey out.

Posted by cambec on March 17, 2010 at 12:10 AM

Boogard was the only one throwing for the latter half the fight...king was just holding on and trying not to get hit, which is not how you win a fight (one punch that gives Boogey a bloody nose and then he ties up)

Posted by ENFORCER 24 on March 15, 2010 at 04:29 AM

Boogaard got bloodied but I think he won the fight. King is tough.

Posted by scott s on March 18, 2010 at 02:28 PM

doglanta and djkingtheman you are a morons, let me rephrase the biggest morons i have ever seen on hockeyfights. Please read mnoldtime comments, I beleive that he and I are the only 2 who watched the fight....... Start, King running from boogy to center ice to pee himself. Next he ducks his head and swings like a girl hoping to hit something. while the whole time boogaard is pounding every inch of his chicken shit body...... at 37 of the fight, take a good look at the left boogy throws, proceeded by king hiding like a giant stortinni.......... Boogaarrd domination, lets see what King looks like next year when boogy sees him again, Maybe he should talk to godard about what to expect. Just when godard thought he had boogaard figured out, Boogy beat him down to the ice bad,

Posted by wildfan4eva on March 14, 2010 at 10:45 PM

Boogaard buckled? What fight were you watching Rangersfan? Derek wasn't stunned for one second in this bout. C'mon man, some blood doesn't "automatically" mean a win, nor does it mean that someone was "buckled". God, some people around here are either haters, or simply ignorant.

Posted by DB24MJ12 on March 24, 2010 at 11:01 AM

King lands a couple real good shots, but Boogaard landed a lot more, and once he got going King held on until the fight was over.

Better punches by King, but Boogaard controlled the fight for the most part. Nothing but a DRAW!

i cant believe King was still standing after that shot that sent the helmet flailing. Great fight. edge Boogard

Posted by tonydomi1 on March 15, 2010 at 09:16 AM

Great heavyweight match. Gave it a solid 8. Fight of the Year candidate. Edge to Boogie for being more active, but King destroyed Boogeyman's face with that big right at the beginning of the tilt. Boogey can sure take a punch and hang in there and keep throwin'. Great job by King scrappin with the boehemoth!

Posted by rocky 1 on March 15, 2010 at 11:04 AM

Not boogards best fight.DJ does land a couple blooding Boogards nose but as the fight progresses DJ hangs on for dear life as Boogy gets going.Thats why I give this on to Boogard. How about the home announcers,Two of the biggest fighters in the league. Now lets see,DJ is listed at six two 228 lbs.Not exactly one of the biggest heavies around!

Posted by SailRacer on March 15, 2010 at 10:17 AM

King threw more punches, but Boogard gets the win for actually landing some quality shots.

Posted by stangmang1 on March 14, 2010 at 11:07 PM

Much closer fight than I expected. King landed only two, but both were big ones. Boogeyman landed more and controlled most of the fight, but had to be sent off for repairs. I refuse to vote for someone just because it was a close fight and they are an underdog. Slight edge to Boogaard, but big props to king.

Posted by tleahey on March 15, 2010 at 08:59 PM

I give Boogaard the win on points but King landed the heaviest punch...not shown on this clip was the bloodied and battered face of Boogaard who must have gotten his nose broken with one of those early shots from King. Not the greatest fight but it was certainly better than the Pacman fight. lol.

Posted by knucklebump on March 14, 2010 at 08:22 PM

King was strong early, but held on after that. Boogey with the ever so slight edge for control.

who the fuck rates these fights cause a guy draws blood he wins well we better go back to our pales and plastic shovels and get in the sandbox or put on your dress dj king did great but boogaard landed some great shots and they should put the announcers in there our shut them up during fights you tell me body shots don't hurt

Posted by metz87 on March 14, 2010 at 08:57 PM

Great fight! I give the narrow win to Boogaard. Might not be the fight on the eyar but it is for sure a top 10 best fight.

Posted by etrain8 on March 18, 2010 at 01:34 PM

Boogey Man with the win here. Better quality punches. Looked like he controlled the fight. I'd keep my head down too, if I were King. A big punch to the face would slow down the number of punches King intended to throw. Blood does not equate to win for King. Entertaining fight.

Posted by Hardknocks on March 15, 2010 at 08:27 AM

Props for DJ being game to mix it up with the Boogeyman...bloody or not have to give a slight edge to Boogaard...very nice fight between two true heavyweights

Posted by PondHockey18 on March 15, 2010 at 12:57 AM

DJ King did NOT win that fight. If you are bleeding at the end of a fight, that does NOT mean that you lost. Boogie fed King over twice the punches and dominated the fight. I'm impressed that King held in there...I thought his head flew off there for a second but it was just the helmet.

rockem sockem robots when kings helmet went flying. slight edge to boogaard. love king putting his head down though & landing shots knowing he's gonna take a potential pound or three. good fight.

Posted by kshafe777 on March 14, 2010 at 09:55 PM

here comes the boogie man!

Posted by Rypienrocks on March 15, 2010 at 12:50 AM

Great job by King taking on Boogaard but boogey landed bigger heavier shot than King. Close one but edge Boogaard.

Posted by Wildfan4117 on March 15, 2010 at 11:30 PM

The oly reason people are say the King won is because he drew blood. You have to look at who landed the most quality punches which I would say goes to Boogaard

Posted by WildFan23 on May 13, 2011 at 11:38 PM

Boogaard narrow win!! R.I.P thanks for all the great knockouts and fights your were the beast in the ice but the nicest guy off it! god bless

Posted by Heywood Jablomi on April 26, 2010 at 02:18 PM

Good Fight. Hard punches landed by each guy.

Posted by Joeyxxx on March 16, 2010 at 12:32 AM

It was a close fight but I'd give it to Boogaard. Boogaard landed his best shots AFTER taking one of two good punches that made Boogaard bleed. Just becasue we saw more blood come out of Boogaards face doesn't mean King won the fight. Boogaard was more active and controlled the tempo of the fight. He threw more and landed more, most of it after King stopped throwing, showing that the bloody nose didn't effect him enough to give King the win. He landed one lucky shot that didn't seem to bother Boogaard much until after the fight. King spent most of the fight in cover mode.

Posted by battags on March 16, 2010 at 02:23 PM

hard fought battle-shows how well Boogie can take a punch. King got lucky with one shot the shook Boogie and he came back with some tough shots himself. I'm sure anyone else would have been flattened except Boogaard. King looked like a little coward flailing away and hoping one swing connects, and he did, except there was more to the fight than one punch.

Posted by hammerhead88 on March 17, 2010 at 02:04 AM

Boogard OUT for a few..... BROKEN NOSE! That oughta teach him that its only a matter of time. Interested to see if he's as cocky when he returns. Ego is everything for a scrapper. I guarantee he'll be a little hesitant next fight. The "cock-o-the-walk" just won't be the same. Haha, maybe he'll just fade into the sunset now.....

Posted by MNOLDTIME on March 15, 2010 at 09:31 AM

I give Boogaard the win, yes he did leak but overall punches and landing them it was Boogie. Watching the fight several times and from both feeds I noticed how King was not looking where he was throwing except at the top of Boogys skates. Normallly I would say tuff to land the big one when not looking but a blind squirrel found the nut.

Posted by peterboy on March 15, 2010 at 04:05 AM

Boogieman wins.

Posted by Velds on March 14, 2010 at 11:16 PM

Boogie with the win and here''s why. After king landed one good punch, he threw maybe 5 after that while Boogie threw more than a dozen. Would like to see King's face in a few days. Great fight and props to King for standing up.

Posted by notsowildmn on March 15, 2010 at 12:17 PM

WTF? King hit's Boogy right in the nose, but then holds on for dear life by locking up Boogy's right arm, what a BITCH MOVE! He get's credit for the great blood drawing punch, but then get's that credit taken away due to his life saving techniques. C'mon King, if your going to give em, be willing to take them.

Posted by pmccallum86 on March 15, 2010 at 04:32 PM

I was at the game sitting third row from the ice and this bout happened right in front of me. Great fight, King proves he is a tough customer. King lands one big shot to the nose of Boogaard, but other than that it is all Boogie. Very close but slight edge to Boogaard.

Posted by johncar04 on March 16, 2010 at 12:15 PM

When is King going to stop wanting to fight Boogaard? I think this is the 4th fight he has lost to him and still proceeds to start them, even if they aren't necessary.

Posted by Togalthorpe on March 14, 2010 at 10:50 PM

Very close, but the nod to the Boogieman

Posted by mnmav89 on March 14, 2010 at 09:24 PM

Boogaard with more punches but King landed the best,

Posted by jdcollins82 on March 19, 2010 at 10:36 AM

If the announcers would get up from their knees in front of King, I think they would see that he had one nice hit, but Boogaard landed more punches of higher quality. Either way, it got the game going for the Wild who ended up killing the Blues. Great fight.

Posted by Jesticle on March 16, 2010 at 06:48 AM

I don't see how so many people called King the winner. Boogaard landed more, threw more and King quit at the end. Win Boogard, and I hate the Wild. -Canucks fan homer

Posted by rilligan on March 15, 2010 at 12:26 AM

Boogie for sure - King cut him, but Boogie takes the win...

Posted by ghjkfdhgfd on March 14, 2010 at 07:56 PM

Boogey with a small edge

Posted by bruiseyoureye on March 14, 2010 at 10:32 PM

boogaard with a slight edge win....i cant believe king didnt crumble to the ice after that wicked right from boogaard......overall a pretty good heavyweight fight.

Posted by sunny8 on March 16, 2010 at 09:37 PM

Great fight, you don't get much better than that. I give it to the Boogy man just cause he took one of kings blind windmills early and did not quit. He landed more in the end.

Posted by Jmoy on March 14, 2010 at 09:16 PM

Very good fight. King really only landed one good shot but looking at Boogaards face, it was a real good one. I guess we know Boogaard can take a punch as well as give one. Boogaard hit King far more often and threw way more but they did less damage. If it was boxing Boogaard would win on points but this is hockey and that one shot by King gives him a draw.

Posted by jabuyer2 on March 15, 2010 at 12:21 AM

Two guys who know how to do this putting on a clinic. Actually, he gives clinics. Almost too close to call but I'm giving it to him because he knocked the helmet off (rockin-sockin-robots style) and landed more punches.

Posted by ismellfish on March 16, 2010 at 03:19 AM

Why would anyone think King won? He landed only a few. So what if he drew blood, you can bleed by getting a basketball to the face. Boogaard won this one. More punches landed, if you don't see it watch it again.

Posted by Guashoe on March 15, 2010 at 02:06 AM

what was king doing skating to center ice? what a joke... this isn't UFC, this is hockey.

Posted by scottiebaldwin on March 14, 2010 at 10:31 PM

Remember, it's not one big punch that makes for a winning fight, it's the domination. Boogaard the win, broken nose or not. People just want Boogaard to lose for some reason. Boogaard landed five unanswered shots to the head! He clearly did not lose this fight but dominated with strength once again. Be honest guys, edge to Boogaard.

Posted by vangodard28 on March 15, 2010 at 11:21 PM

Boogard edge. I have one thing to say... I hate the Blues announcer! Darren Pang the colour guy is good, but the main commentator is so biahsed! when boogaard was landing those body shots he was saying "not doing any damage", well i'd like him take some of those bodyshots from boogy before critisizing the damage of the punches!

Posted by dayman88 on March 22, 2010 at 11:38 PM

Boogaard with the clear edge here. More blows landed, shot had no effect on him

Posted by BluesNDevils on March 15, 2010 at 05:24 PM

muskokadangler- Your a moron. brad houghton- Boogard had a broken nose This is more of a draw than anything else. If you don't want to call it a draw, I suggest saying King won this just because Boogard never returned. A fight is about quality. Not quantity.

Posted by goody72 on September 02, 2010 at 11:19 PM

Two of my favorite guys in the NHL. Draw!!!!!

Posted by gmr133 on March 15, 2010 at 01:07 PM

Draw. Too close to call. Each guy got in one really good shot. Boogaard bled. Not a 8.2 fight, though--that's all name value. A 6 at best. Would have liked to see Tkachuk beat on Scott. Boogaard and Scott in the same line-up--no wonder Minnesota is nowhere near a cup-contender.

Posted by bam932 on March 15, 2010 at 01:06 PM

King landed the best ... Booger landed more = draw. As a sidenote, can anyone name a worse player to ever take a regular shift in NHL history than Boogaard??? This guy could even score in my rec league.

Posted by straightup on March 15, 2010 at 02:18 AM

Boogaard landed more shots, King landed the best shot. Called it a draw, although Boogaard controlled the fight. I like the way King got this going, right thing to do, right time to do it, right way to do it.

Posted by CFG1787 on March 14, 2010 at 11:54 PM

glad DJ King is back

Posted by claire alexande on March 15, 2010 at 04:52 PM

Have to go with draw from what I saw on this clip--both guys landed some great shots. Nobody will ever mistake King for Hordichuk.

Posted by Rex from MN on March 15, 2010 at 01:17 PM

Draw on the textbook approach against a bigger man by King: get in close early and get your shots in, including the bloody nose or whatever it was. And then he hung on to narrowly avoid the inevitable beatdown at the end. Earned King a draw, I guess.

Posted by samtheman on March 15, 2010 at 10:21 PM

Nice fight. The fact that so many picked both as winners indicates I am correct with my assessment that this is a DRAW.

Posted by Slapshot007 on March 14, 2010 at 11:09 PM

Good Fight...called it a draw but I could see an edge to King. Does anyone else wanna see Rypien vs King?

Posted by illukka on March 15, 2010 at 01:50 AM

good fight. givin it a 9 and a draw, possibly edge king. DJ did a pretty good job gettin in close and stripping boogie of his best weapon ( reach ). some nice trading there too

Posted by rocky7482 on March 15, 2010 at 01:00 PM

great scrap and DRAW. King bloodied the boogeyman, which does not happen often, however boogard fought a great technical fight.....he doesn't generally need to be very good technically, however he had king tied up 90% of the fight.

Posted by ProudCanadian on March 16, 2010 at 04:31 PM

Close to a draw until the damage |King caused with the two best punches of the fight. K nowing Boogaard he would have returned if he could have so injury was enough to keep him out of the rest of the game and questionable for upcoming games.

Posted by STL13 on March 18, 2010 at 08:56 AM

http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/players/playerpage/273511/derek-boogaard Boogaard scratched Tuesday: Wild LW Derek Boogaard did not play Tuesday against the Oilers after suffering facial injuries during a fight on Sunday. Boogaard was beaten and bloodied by D.J. King of the Blues.

Posted by habssuck on March 15, 2010 at 03:13 PM

Not a SLB fan but I really am impressed with this King; man did he crush BoogyMan with a right. Wow!

Posted by LilHockeyGirl on March 28, 2010 at 12:51 AM

Great fight. Especially when you see the height advantage Boogaard has and yet King still bloodies him up. I'mma give this one to King 'cause he did surprisingly well against the Jolly Green Giant.

Posted by rwhiten2008 on March 29, 2010 at 12:35 AM

love to see the big kids drop em

Posted by Spaz on March 20, 2010 at 04:11 AM

That article on concussions says Boogaard got one in this fight. If that's the case, we'll have to go with a win for King.

Posted by chad420 on March 17, 2010 at 03:14 PM

dj king giving the boogeyman nightmares.....boogeys face was a mess...41.7% of you need 2 watch the additional video or get glasses

Posted by booterbuilder on March 14, 2010 at 11:18 PM

Good for King, well fought. One day a bigger boogier fighter will emerge. Then we'll talk shit about him.

Posted by CocoQuaker7 on March 16, 2010 at 08:56 PM

DJ King is the best relatively new fighter I've seen in a long time. Edge to King for landing the better power punches.

Posted by Tony Esposito on March 15, 2010 at 12:02 AM

What a messed up way to make your hockey living.....ouch.

Posted by jcstokes on March 15, 2010 at 11:10 AM

Sorry Boogaard fans. He lost this one. Don't see it that often but he took some abuse. Big props to King. Boogaard got chopped down to size a bit and looked a mess. It's not about how many thrown, it's about landing. Either way, great bout.

Posted by Clowes ABeast29 on March 16, 2010 at 01:35 AM

Crown the King!

Posted by Bensonator27 on March 15, 2010 at 10:02 AM

Good fight, edge king.

good fight, king gets win boogaard face was a mess. boogaard did come back strong but the damage was done.

Posted by thebigbea55 on March 14, 2010 at 08:58 PM

nice scrap... good job boogaard, played 11 sec in the game.. waste of roster spot..

Posted by Bluefan1 on March 14, 2010 at 10:52 PM

DJ King playing in like his 4th game of the year, goes against a guy 6in bigger than him, and he sends the guy to the dressing room!!! Boogaard did not return to the game after this fight!! I dont know how you can say Boogaard won this fight?? Ya he threw more punches but did you see the p***y body shot!! lol give me a break!! DJ King MIGHT be the toughest guy in the league

Posted by Radiotalker on March 16, 2010 at 01:28 AM

Boo has quantity, but King has quality. Nice bout!! Bottom line - one fighter had to leave the game for medical attention while the other finished the game. Win King.

Posted by BearsCaps27 on March 26, 2011 at 01:07 PM

slight edge to king

Posted by wxbum on July 11, 2010 at 06:50 AM

Boogard didn't come back. End. Of. Story.

Posted by Oil Can Henry on March 15, 2010 at 02:09 AM

Nice effort by King, but Boogaard was in-control and had the upper-hand. ....After the initial flurry in the beginning, King had to settle for just trying to tie-up Boogaard.

Posted by tomales2 on March 17, 2010 at 01:48 PM

Boy, the voting is so polarized on this one. Looking at the voting, a draw should be the result I would think. An extremely good fight though I don't see an 8.2. It's about even through the first bit, but after 13 seconds of *Actual* fighting, King never throws another punch while Boogaard never stops trying. Boogie wins this one Upon second watching, and I wouldn't say this within a 1000 miles of King, but does anyone else feel he fights a bit like a girl-head down and throwing wildly? If Boogaard had lost his helmet, I bet there would have been some hair pulling.

Posted by PigIron on March 16, 2010 at 06:35 PM

W for Boogaard. Having said that - King did great against who I think is the reining champ in the NHL right now.

Posted by tiburon4 on March 15, 2010 at 10:50 PM

Boogaard won this, guys: he got more hard punches and did more than King.

Posted by BritishRedWing on March 17, 2010 at 09:35 PM

Win Boogaard. Yes, King cut him, but big B landed more. King is as tough as they come, but it looked like he really messed up his hand again.

Posted by NorthStars67 on March 15, 2010 at 08:54 PM

Watching the fight from the stands of the game made it look lopsided toward Boogaard. Hearing that crowd of 18,585 screaming who Boogaard knocked King's helmet off was unreal. BUT after watching the replay here it showed a closer fight. Boogaard left the ice cause of blood, which you have to do, and if you look at the stats, King didn't play after this fight either, so you can't call it at that. Fun fight. - Draw.

Posted by gatgarson on March 14, 2010 at 08:39 PM

Booger gets it for the lovely helmet spinner. A close one. *just watched the extra video, not so sure now, King really popped Boogaard one just before Boogie knocked his helmet off*

Posted by pvdrummer2000 on February 21, 2015 at 02:16 AM

King got the best shot in to bloody Boogaards nose, but the Boogeyman controlled the fight for the W.

Posted by tim daddy on March 15, 2010 at 10:51 AM

good brawl, call it a draw, although you can make a fair, and logical argument either way . or you can be a complete moron , and spew crap out of your swale-hole like black ice, bluesrule, and of course the ever sub-moronic sedinfan.

Posted by BoogeyRocks on March 15, 2010 at 11:04 AM

How can you give the fight to King just because Boogaard was bleeding. He took one punch and didn't show any affects other than a bloody nose. Boogey threw and landed a lot more punches - that's how you win a fight not by giving a guy a bloody nose. Clear win for the boogeyman.

Posted by BigBadBruins68 on April 11, 2010 at 08:02 PM

I give it to the Boogey Man, based on the fact that he was more active and threw more, and probably landed more too. King did a lot of damage, but he sorta stopped throwin' late, and Boogey was able to land a few more. Still, King was able to muscle him quite a bit, and against Boogey that's no small feat. Great fight.

Posted by muskokadangler on March 16, 2010 at 10:58 AM

Anyone who says King won is FULL of [email protected] think The boogey man is a freak and shouln't even be allowed on the ice but he won this GREAT fight An AWESOME SHOWING by King who has nothing to be ashamed of and I would like to give it to him but LETS BE HONEST GUYS!!!!!!!!!! Its not golf there are no handicaps.. Hey Scoobycub.....I still say The boggey man gets the win because although King made a mess of his face HE did not stop the enforcer in "THE FIGHT"Boogey was stillfightin at the end and King didn't seem to have anything left...........Your points and reasoning on giving King the win are the BEST arguments out there!!!!!!!!

Posted by Dave_42 on March 14, 2010 at 08:39 PM

Gave it a draw. Good scrap! Kings punches did more damage, Boogard a bit more active.

Posted by BigTot on March 15, 2010 at 12:43 AM

What a great scrap!!! Nice work boys Edge to Boogy

Posted by kitcarnut on March 15, 2010 at 01:13 AM

Boogie man with the nod here,DJ landed a couple then hung on when the big guy didn't crumble.

Posted by Bosoxfan3 on March 16, 2010 at 04:21 AM

Helluva fight there... I gotta give the edge to Boogard... just because King didn't look to interested in continuing at the end there. Didn't look like he got too much in there after cutting Boogard, but I could be swayed either way. Bottom line, one of the better fights I've seen in a while.

Posted by Boogeyman2383 on March 17, 2010 at 09:46 PM

This is definitely a foty nominee so far! King lands a great right that broke Boogaard's nose, Boogey comes back with a flurry of rights. Draw/edge Boogaard

Posted by H.i.t.m.a.n 514 on March 15, 2010 at 06:04 PM

NICE FIGHT """DRAW"""

Posted by Behn Wilson on March 15, 2010 at 12:27 PM

Introducing the return of the leagues' next heavyweight champ. Draw, but considering the size difference, and the fact that Boogaard spent almost the entire fight backpeddling in reverse... 19 is the new 24. Now that the rust is gone, I'd love to see him go with current champ, Goddard.

Posted by fernben8 on March 15, 2010 at 04:35 PM

Wow ! Great fight...and very close. I think Boogard underestimated and took King for granted at the start. King got in two good rights till Boogard adjusted and started throwing. At the end of it all Boogie man was the busier of the two...have to give it to Boogard. Good one boys !!

Posted by sedinfan on March 14, 2010 at 11:40 PM

"Minnesota’s bruiser Derek Boogaard(notes) got beat up in a fight with D.J. King(notes) less than 4 minutes into the game—and just 11 seconds into Boogaard’s first shift. His nose, forehead and face were bloodied. He went to the locker room and didn’t return". This is the St. Paul, Minnesota post! more or less says it all. This isn't boxing you idiots with your comments on points and more punches. When you play hockey and get your face re-arranged you lose, even if you out punch someone. Win King!
