Lotsa punches thrown, few actual connecting. Props for effort and malice, not much for fulfillment. I see a draw, but wouldn't argue for long against a Benn win.

Posted by GreatMurray on October 17, 2018 at 02:37 AM

There ya got mates. It doesn't get much better for a Captain than Jamie Benn and Miles Wood should one as well. Two big, strong guys really getting after it with mean intentions. Neither landed a bomb but they both got fair measure of the other. Forget the home cookin' boys. These two earned a draw and a lot of respect from anyone that's ever done this and from the teams!

Posted by BenJammin on October 16, 2018 at 11:15 PM

Lot of whiffs by Wood even when Jamie initially went down. Looked like Jamie got more solids in.

Posted by mullet33 on October 16, 2018 at 11:49 PM

Not sure anyone actually connected. Benn with the edge in a fight Wood was probably shocked to be a part of. When Benn wants to go, Benn wants to go. I do miss this side of Jamie. As talented of a fighter as he is a player but just wished it would have sparked a little more fire in his team mates. A little too late in the game I reckon.

Not sure how this is a rated a 7..? They both kicked the sh*t out of the air though!!! Draw and a 4 just off of the anger by both fighters

Posted by Wrister4 on October 16, 2018 at 11:47 PM

Wood was tuned up by the Captain. If Been gets the left glove off from the drop, the kid would have been spitting teeth.

Posted by Screaming Buffalo on October 16, 2018 at 09:54 PM

Good tilt. Benn gets the win. It's a shame Benn couldn't get his left glove off for a moment. Benn prefers his left and you see when he switches hands he tries to throw a left but his damn glove is still on.

Posted by Behn Wilson on October 17, 2018 at 03:48 PM

Great (albeit rare) legitimate animosity... with Benn early Wood middle and Benn late

Posted by bigmike53 on October 17, 2018 at 03:15 AM

Both guys throwing with bad intentions and missing often. Even scrap IMO.

Posted by von_swine on October 17, 2018 at 12:41 AM

lets breakdown the components here(for both fighters); anger-9 intent-9 execution-4 at first glance this tilt 'looked' good, but there's better fight sequences in 'War Of The Gargantuas'... Wood might want to be a tough guy since his dad was 5' 6", but until he learns to connect he's gonna keep looking silly against other cats his size... Benn in full Captain mode as he handles the youngster.. #14 FTW

Posted by jumper_punch on October 17, 2018 at 03:01 AM

Cracking fight.

Posted by Ethereal on October 17, 2018 at 08:01 AM

A good and spirited scrap. Neither one lands a lot of the punches but the effort was there.

Posted by Tony Esposito on October 17, 2018 at 12:12 AM

Finally! a real hockey fight!

Posted by bmalcolm on October 17, 2018 at 09:47 AM

Great old school scrap

Posted by gordkluzak on October 17, 2018 at 11:13 AM

Lots of misses but the effort was there. Benn takes win but not by much.

Posted by 89Blakey on October 17, 2018 at 04:42 PM

Best fight of the year in the early season

Posted by sndaysnipr on October 17, 2018 at 03:21 PM

Nice tilt and Benn wins

Posted by ChuckinKnuckles on October 17, 2018 at 11:06 AM

Jamie with a clear W. Both guys with evil intent though but Benn had the better exchanges. Benn, 6.

Posted by powerforward92 on October 17, 2018 at 04:30 AM

so much anger! I loved it! Benn edge

Posted by Jmills24 on October 17, 2018 at 02:37 AM

Good fight

Great fight! Benn for the win!

Posted by 14GTiger on October 16, 2018 at 09:48 PM

Benn with the win

Posted by brianhanie23 on October 17, 2018 at 12:41 PM

Tital domination by Jamie Benn. If he hadnt of tripped it could have been worse for Wood. The only two punches landed were when Benn was down and getting back up

Posted by jerry s on October 17, 2018 at 05:34 AM

benn control most of the time but good spirited bout

Posted by done on October 17, 2018 at 12:13 AM

All Benn !!

Posted by herewego on October 17, 2018 at 10:18 AM

Benn leading by example..........team not playing well of late so he sends a message to the team that they need to find their passion. Benn knocking on Wood that they early road woes get fixed. Winner Captain Benn!

Posted by mtlbulldawg on October 17, 2018 at 09:11 AM

Great, angry fight, loved it! Benn has always been pretty tough and a great captain.

Posted by Cameron Rock on October 03, 2022 at 03:47 PM

It was a great fight between two big men

Posted by jskelly1195 on October 03, 2022 at 03:47 PM

Moral of the story? Do not cross check Benn when building up to a fight. Nice Tilit!

Posted by PeterQuistgard on October 03, 2022 at 03:47 PM

holy moly. rock'em sock'em robots.

Posted by IActuallyPlayHockey on October 03, 2022 at 03:47 PM

Another great fight by Benn. Good for him, down 3-0 in the third and showing his team he's still in it. Benn is a great captain, his guy is an old school, throwback kind of hockey player!

Posted by Dave Brown was the Baddest on October 03, 2022 at 03:47 PM

Nice little battle with purpose-punches thrown.

Not sure how anyone can say it was that close, when the fight ends with a clear knockdown by Benn. Main camera angle is bad, but others show he connected, knees buckled and Wood was on his knees. As noted, Benn got his hold with glove on, or Wood may have been knocked out when Benn switched, as he chucks 'em better with the left and Wood was exposed.

Posted by Kamilli on October 03, 2022 at 03:47 PM

fight of the year candidate

Posted by GCBC00 on October 03, 2022 at 03:47 PM

Great dust up. Gotta appreciate Benn and his willingness to get the team going and leading by example. As a few have mentioned, this had an old school feel. Win Benn

Posted by Knelsen on October 03, 2022 at 03:47 PM

Young Wood challenging the veteran Jamie, and got what he was looking for

Posted by steppenwolf99 on October 03, 2022 at 03:47 PM

Benn early,Wood late. Spirited slug fest with bad intentions on both sides.

Posted by PeterPuck625 on October 03, 2022 at 03:47 PM

Good fight. I hate to see these guys punching the helmets and visors. Not good on the hands. Miss the old time fights.

Posted by Bobby M on October 03, 2022 at 03:47 PM

Wood is game but overmatched here. The heavier fists prevailed for Benn. Good tilt.

Posted by slavv on October 18, 2018 at 02:32 PM

Entertaining and both were eager to keep it going, but a very sloppy draw....

Posted by tacomania on October 18, 2018 at 12:03 AM

draw for me

Posted by rocky 1 on October 18, 2018 at 10:29 PM

I replayed this numerous times and could not tell if the last punch by benn landed so I gave it a draw .Oh and Behn Wilsons writing style was first introduced by me and then he copied it and takes it as his own. that is a copywrite infringement pal!

Posted by dementia5 on December 05, 2018 at 02:53 AM

Gotta love Benn. Your Captain, and best player getting into toe to toe brawls against tough guys. Throwback player. Haven't seen this kinda stuff since Iginla. Love it. What player is not gonna follow a Captain like that?

Posted by Orr Fourever on October 17, 2018 at 06:51 AM

Ol style rock'em sock'em. Draw.

Posted by ChirpMachine on November 12, 2018 at 10:47 AM

What a back and forth! There were moments both went down but they got back up, which is one the hallmarks of a good bout. Benn had it early but Wood stormed back and the draw sort of happened in the takedown. Badass.

Posted by dogginit on October 19, 2018 at 03:37 PM

Good fight. No Puzzys

Posted by gsrae on October 17, 2018 at 11:51 PM

That was a good scrap. Been with the win

Posted by Hilaker on October 17, 2018 at 11:18 PM

Now there was some evil intent behind those punches. Those boys actually wanted to fight each other. Good job and I give the decision to Benn.

Posted by boneshakin on October 28, 2018 at 08:42 PM

Not sure why the announcer would say "that will bring some energy into the arena" when the home team was up 3-0

Posted by Jellyczar on October 17, 2018 at 09:57 PM

finally a good tilt ..... Benn early and late ... gets the nod.

Posted by EK65 on October 18, 2018 at 08:10 PM

Wow! An absolute war. Mutual props to both guys but, Benn clearly won this. Wood certainly entertains when he drops the gloves.

Posted by Imarabhata on October 22, 2018 at 08:30 AM

Benn gets the nod. Woods only good shots were when Jamie was on his knees

Posted by DaultonC on November 13, 2018 at 11:59 AM

Out of all the punches thrown Benn connected the most and had control most of the way through. Good tough fight.

Posted by CG44 on October 19, 2018 at 02:23 PM

Awesome fight, mainly bc they are both so enthusiastic lol. Obvious edge to Benn but props to Wood as well.

Posted by Attikdrum on October 25, 2018 at 08:38 AM

That`s what i'm talking about!!!! Old School MTF's

Posted by JLinkTX on October 17, 2018 at 11:24 AM

Great fight with fists flying.

Posted by adulane62 on October 20, 2018 at 03:59 AM

Fight of the nascent season. Hopefully, more of this kind of tilts to come?! I give the fight to Jamie Benn, even though I hate the sonomabiach!

Posted by WhaleBoy on October 21, 2018 at 09:16 AM

Great fight...want to see these guys go again

Posted by joeyhats15 on October 18, 2018 at 11:23 AM

Jamie been is Wood's dad

Posted by nait on October 17, 2018 at 12:31 PM

Had Benn got the glove off before hitting Wood I would have given it to him but since not I lean towards Wood

Posted by payback001 on October 17, 2018 at 01:45 PM

Wood for the win for no reason other than, um, don't swing with your glove on.

Posted by DoseyDoe on December 03, 2018 at 01:54 PM

AMAZING OLD SCHOOL FIGHT! Was there happened right in front of me. Great job by both guys

Posted by RonnyLaRock on October 18, 2018 at 04:35 PM

classy Benn as always. thumbs up

Posted by DJEviLeo on November 05, 2018 at 12:51 AM

Who cares who won, that was an angry event!

Posted by Jflah53 on October 17, 2018 at 05:47 PM

Well, about time both guys got "smacked around" a little.. Benn gets away with a lot & has always been a bit of a wise a** as is Wood ... Both good players with Benn, at this point of both careers, much more accomplished.. Give it a DRAW ... Those Dallas announcers are ALMOST as bad as Boston announcers ... Imagine Jack A** Edwards if that was CHARA fighting !!!!!

Posted by Treyness on October 03, 2022 at 03:47 PM

Benn is a BEAST!!

Posted by The Glamour on October 03, 2022 at 03:47 PM

Nerds on this site. Some serious punches landed. Great fight.

Posted by purpleknuckles on October 03, 2022 at 03:47 PM

Best fight of year All hail Jamie Benn Amazing to observe Dallas continue to underperform despite the fanatical leadership Benn provides

Posted by surfmaster69 on October 03, 2022 at 03:47 PM

Light heavyweight great fight! Haymakers thrown by both guys, but Benn got the better punches landed here. Great effort by both

Posted by TrueBlue16 on October 21, 2018 at 02:09 PM

Such a weak move slashing like that...hate that...entertaining bout and props to the refs not breaking it up prematurely, surprised they didn’t jump I as soon as wood wobbeled or when Benn went down briefly.

Posted by WhoWearsHelmets on November 10, 2018 at 04:11 PM

Refs are like yeah...gotta make sure this fizzles out before catching a rogue right.

Posted by Biggus on October 31, 2018 at 07:44 PM

Somehow the zebras forget to get int there and the scrap goes on even after each player takes one knee (at different times) and the result is a spirited scrap full of malice. Benn had the edge IMHO.

Jamie Benn took him out back, and beat the F$#K out of him!

Posted by Mounty in NC on October 17, 2018 at 12:24 AM

I give it a 5 and a draw... looked more than what it was. Slow motion showed that very little landed. Benn's best shots were with his glove on so does that really count? Wood landed 1 single punch when Benn was down on one knee. Does that really count? Again, draw and a 5. A 7 really???? For a fight when nothing really connected???

Posted by ctg77 on October 17, 2018 at 05:05 PM

All the votes for Benn must be Stars' homers. That fight was not close to being a straight win for Benn. Both got in almost the same # of actual blows and only Benn lost his lid. Hilarious on the "full captain mode" comment. Dude was on the end of 2nd game with a total of 1 goal scored for his entire team in both games...if he were a true leader, he might have tried scoring instead of taking bad penalties both games and / or getting shut out in this one.

Posted by pwrmngr on October 16, 2018 at 11:32 PM

Benn started off strong giving it to Wood, then Wood hammered Benn on the ear and side face to stun them both. Wood by margin.

Posted by Flyers2019 on October 17, 2018 at 10:31 AM

Jamie Benn aka G Eazy, is a total boss against morning wood. I like both guys but Benn as the captain not taking any crap is something to be admired. I gave the edge to Benn, although like I said before, it appears balance is a struggle for fighters this year. Idk what it is but nonetheless, I crapped my pants last night after eating soul food. Watch out for undercooked jerk chicken. It was like niagra falls out my tookis bunker. Good day gentleman
