Good solid clean rub out hit, wood then got a hard on for it, jumped Holden and was throwing punches before Holden even knew he was in a fight.

Not a fair fight, Holden got grabbed just as it started and began at a disadvantage.

Bullshit way to respond to a clean check. Woods should have gotten a extra penalty forattacking a guy that a team mate was already holding

Posted by mr. puttzo on March 21, 2017 at 11:46 PM

One of the few times all year a Ranger throws a hard check and winds up getting his arse kicked. Maybe that's why they don't play physical it's safer that way.

Holden could have taken his head off running him into the edge of the boards like that. Typical pussy Ranger. Deserved those 8 unanswered blows to the head.

Can anyone justify what the actual fuck that linesman was doing? Seriously..... get the fuck out of the way and let the boys handle it. No problem with the penalties on this, possible interference call call could go Holden's way. Puck was gone well before he finished the hit in the glass.

Good for him get yours in buddy

Posted by jsjohanns on March 21, 2017 at 11:11 PM

So why didn't the linesman let them fight it out? Notice where the ref's are in the initial video shot. They are out of the way which is where the linesman should have been. The fight might have been a 9 if the linesman didn't step in. Finally tally: Fight -7 Referees - 9 Linesman -1

Wood stands up for himself after a hit he didn't like and absolutely clobbers Holden.

Posted by bigmike53 on March 21, 2017 at 11:34 PM

Old school Devils/Rangers hatred. Brings tears to my eyes. Win Wood.

Posted by fridge rules on March 21, 2017 at 11:28 PM

Well these announcers really suck to begin. That should be been a boarding minor against Holden on a dirty (but not suspendable) hit. Very wrong about Patches' injury. Wood didn't get his money's worth. Draw.

why rate punches to helmets anyway ? when the combatants skate away with no red marks or cuts ...why would it even be a fight ?

Posted by nait on March 22, 2017 at 10:54 AM

Wood won but only because he jumped Holden before he knew what was going on and the ref stopped any counter punches

Posted by gsrae on March 22, 2017 at 07:58 AM

Legal hit sends Wood off. Gets help at the beginning by teammate but still handles things. Wood win.

holden finally got into hsi 1st nhl fight after all those years and it wasnt even his choice.wood took exception to his hit on the turnbuckle and it was too late when holden realized that he's getting his ass kicked...win wood and 7 for entertainment

Posted by gmr133 on March 22, 2017 at 10:09 AM

Give Wood the edge. He was clearly motivated.

Posted by Humper on March 22, 2017 at 10:16 AM

I like how there is little question that Wood beat Holden, but a ton of different views on whether it was a clean or dirty hit, a penalty worthy hit, a reviewable hit, a suspendable hit, a retaliation-worthy hit, a fair fight, etc.

Posted by jonahbuxton on March 22, 2017 at 02:23 PM

fuck the turnbuckle

Posted by reddognsdq on March 28, 2017 at 05:49 PM

Wood, your butthurt over an obviously clean hit is laughable. Also, if you want to fight, give your opponent a chance to square up and fight...your actions were close to a sucker punch. Uncool...

I watched Nick Holden for his entire time with the Avs. Anyone who thinks he has the ability to time a hit to run a player into the stanchion intentionally is just plain ignorant. Holden plays hard and tries to deliver good hits but isn't the most skilled defender. I don't mind Woods being pissed and wanting a piece of Holden, but I fault Woods for jumping an opponent whose already tied up with Woods' teammate. Holden, a non-fighter, answers the call and fights back (or tries to do so with the linesman wrapping him up). Even with all the advantage, Wood does no damage. Draw.

Holden did okay despite being held from behind, and then knocked off balance by the linesman. Wood did a number on Holdens helmet. 4 and a draw. Clean hit. Daneyko should pipe down.

Posted by Great Murray on March 22, 2017 at 06:15 AM

Can't say that I blame Wood. It looked like Holden tried to time the hit to put the stanchion in the shot...Wood puts a pretty solid beating on an unwilling fighter...tough chit snowflake maybe you can play for the UC Berkley hockey team next year (or the red wings)...I hear they play in leotards and braid their hair...you'll like it there.

Posted by boldbilly on March 22, 2017 at 07:24 AM

That was a dirty hit and Nick Holden got what he deserved, it's too bad he didn't get a better beating. He definently tried to pull a who me Chara move here...Wood with the right response here. SO you might say that Miles wins this one by kilometres...and even Nick couldn't Holden back.....lol I thank you.... Win to Wood with a score of 6....big loss to the cheap Chara imposter....

if glass was playing wood wouldn't go after holden

Posted by Joel19691 on March 21, 2017 at 10:51 PM

Holden can't even get his gloves off. Can't call this a fair fight, Holden regains composure though and controls Wood. I guess Wood with the W, but really quiet comical to watch him throw a temper tantrum.

Posted by legend22 on March 22, 2017 at 08:09 AM

This wasnt a fight it was an attack..Cant give Wood a win when someone holds his opponent and lets him beat on him...Draw and a 1

Posted by Vito514 on March 21, 2017 at 11:07 PM

I dont have a problem with this at alll. Wood doesnt like it and handles his own fkn business. Didnt amount to much but wtv. Win wood

Posted by hubofhockey on March 21, 2017 at 10:25 PM

2 min for interference and wood loses his.mind...Throws a lot lands little...Learn to take a hit punk

Posted by tpr1960 on March 22, 2017 at 06:05 PM

2 dimwits, Jersey tuff guy is miles wood, pathetic.Devils with a big win to clinch a ,...rer .... nothing.

Posted by bhamill on March 22, 2017 at 10:23 AM

This is a joke. I don't blame Wood for being a little angry in the moment, but the hit was clean by the rules and any other code. Holden had no other choice, make the hit or allow Wood to go in on the goaltender. If you think he's got the skills to perfectly time the hit to send Wood into the stanchion you are WAY over rating Holden. The "fight"? that's the joke, it was one player attacking another who had one of Wood's teammates on his back and his gloves on. And When the other NJD was off him and his gloves were off, the linesman grabbed HOLDEN... The funniest part is even with all of that and the fact that Holden can't fight for "poop," Wood did no damage. Flailed a lot but I didn't see anything that would leave a mark. Should've been 4 for roughing and maybe a 10 for unsportsmanlike to Wood, 2 for roughing for Holden. At least it was some excitement in a completely boring game to that point.
