Not long enough to seriously be considered FOTY but man... that was some extremely nasty ill intentioned spit And involving a Red Wing nonetheless WTF? Got to hand it to Seeler too... and what's left of his face

Posted by Gusrichards on March 05, 2018 at 02:16 PM

Seeler doing all that he can to stay up with the big club. The still pic for the video is GREAT! Looks like Seeler wants Witkow's blood. I'm glad to see that the Wild finally have someone that can step up to keep other teams honest. Great fight which I am calling a draw. Witkowski landed better punches, but Seeler got his team going.

Posted by bigmike53 on March 04, 2018 at 10:22 PM

Good old fashioned punch in the face contest and a spirited Draw!

Posted by grrbronco81 on March 04, 2018 at 10:43 PM

Top 2 or 3 of the year.

Welcome to the 1980's

Posted by Mparkmark on March 05, 2018 at 02:59 PM

Looked like Witkowski almost took Wilds #11 knee out at just inside the blue line (7-8 seconds in). Seeler objected and one dousy of a fight errupted. Great fight!

Posted by Aud Fellow on March 06, 2018 at 08:17 PM

Not enough connections but unfortunately about as good as it gets these days. Dirty head hunting run by Witkowski preceding the bout.

Posted by surfmaster69 on March 05, 2018 at 05:49 PM

Now that was a great old time hockey! No turtling. No defense. Lots of punching. I think at the end, Seeler was glad they stopped. Wit had more in him left. A draw and a 7, maybe an 8. Kari Takko is right on.

Posted by Jellyczar on March 05, 2018 at 07:04 AM

WOW ... heck with defense

Posted by siouxfan1 on March 05, 2018 at 10:57 AM

Old time hockey of the 60’s no hugging and dancing just throwing and landing punches. It was definitely a draw!!

Posted by xaulxan on March 05, 2018 at 04:10 AM

Great scrap. Draw.

Posted by KCChieffan on March 05, 2018 at 07:13 AM

Wow, one of the best of the new year between two giants. A draw, but fun to watch.

2 cats on a mission,bravo!

Posted by PBRFueledBrute on March 05, 2018 at 09:38 PM

Great match up. Both combatants went to to the exchanging blows. No attempts at blocking, dodging, or defense in any way. Just a classic slugfest.

Posted by Brashearfan on March 06, 2018 at 06:41 AM

I haven't logged in to HF in years, however this fight was worth it. You don't see much of this anymore...

Posted by wildfan4eva on March 07, 2018 at 08:43 AM

After watching this BOMB fight 10+ times and carefully examining EACH fighter's punches, it DEFINITELY appears Seeler landed more punches to the mush, whereas Luke only landed 3-4 to the head (2 to the actual face). I counted 5-6 punches landing to the face of Witkowski.....but either way giving it a DRAW!! Here's to hoping Seeler gives us more fights like this to giggle over!! Edit-After reading numerous reviews stating Luke landed the beter shots I re-watched the video another 10+ times, focusing on one fighter each time solely....and my intial conclusion STILL appears the same....with Seeler being the one landing better shots! Luke got 1-2 in the mush, but others hit helmet, forehead, top of head, etc......

Posted by prasm on March 06, 2018 at 02:27 PM

Great fight, I scored it a draw but if pushed I would say Witkowski landed a few better punches.

Posted by Haleskii on March 05, 2018 at 05:31 PM

Witkowski attempted to clip Parise with the knee and whiffed, Seeler immediately answered. Great bout and I give it a draw.

Geez, Look out. FOY?

Posted by ismellfish on March 06, 2018 at 10:02 PM

What a great fight, the guys kept throwing big ones!

"Some tips on how to vote ... * A toe-to-toe draw would be draw, 8/10-rated fight that was very close. If it ends in a KO, just mark it KO; doesn't mean the rest of the fight wasn't close."

Posted by SilverSliver on March 05, 2018 at 06:11 AM

Great fight, Seeler got the first couple in and Witkiwski the last 3 or 3. I thought about giving WIT the win but it was so close I'm calling it a draw. Not to mention MN scored like a minute later and maybe another minute or 2 after the fight. If Seeler helped that he should get the win for helping his team

Posted by themike1w on March 04, 2018 at 11:36 PM

Man, I'm loving this Seeler kid. Really bringing some old-school hockey to St. Paul. How do you pick a winner? One guy with about eight full-face mashers, and the other guy with only, you know, seven?

Posted by EK65 on March 05, 2018 at 12:26 AM

- Come back on the ice to start a line brawl - Double duty entertaining match up - Get Fight of the Year If your tenure in Detroit (and presumably the NHL) is only this short one Luke, it was fun while it lastest. Draw & 9

Posted by first 6 on March 06, 2018 at 11:09 PM

Good go. Actually threw hands in this one. Draw and a 9.

Posted by Lolabunnie on March 05, 2018 at 02:00 PM

A good ol' fashion fight, no dancing, just good punches.

Posted by vhaas99 on March 05, 2018 at 10:20 AM

Pretty good fight in my opinion, not too short or not too long. They both threw good punches and were done. Luke Witkowski, with a little bit more size and more arm length, got in more quality punches. Good fight though!

Posted by germm on March 05, 2018 at 12:56 AM

Old... Time.... Hockey! Was that Rob Ray and Tony Twist? Thank you for saving the season, and hockey fights.com for that matter.

Fight of the year!?!?

Posted by ethanmay4 on March 05, 2018 at 09:46 AM

Holy hell that was violent.

Posted by The Mad House on March 05, 2018 at 06:16 AM

I certainly did not expect that.. Old school scrap, fellas! It’s nice to see the Wings involved in a dandy like that I’ve always been a fan of Witkowski And I’m glad the Wings employ him If only that fight had gone a little longer... Serious props to both! Kept throwing and taking even after the visors were gone Going slight edge to Witkowski, who i believe clearly landed more

Posted by theredbrigade on March 11, 2018 at 12:44 AM

Not that great & I am a 'wings fan

Posted by tomh59 on March 05, 2018 at 09:39 PM

Zero jersey jabs! Great fight boys. Wit slight edge.

Posted by nait on March 06, 2018 at 01:07 PM

Edge Witkowski

Posted by AxlRose91 on March 05, 2018 at 12:02 PM

They were both chucking, but from what I could see, only Witkowski was landing anything of significance Easy win for Luke in an 80s throwback!

Posted by jerry s on March 05, 2018 at 05:20 AM

had to be one of the best so far for the season great bout

Posted by BooSanta on March 20, 2018 at 10:31 PM

This looked like a draw until the slow-mo, and Seeler's face looking like a plate of spaghetti with marinara afterwards, so Lukewit wins this excellent, extremely close slugfest. They looked to trade punch for punch.

Posted by ironbar44 on March 05, 2018 at 08:52 PM

best fight fight in a while

Posted by CG44 on March 12, 2018 at 09:51 PM

What a fight! Narrow win for Witkowski just based on punches landed. Seeler was in there though, toughness all around. Nice job boys.

Posted by jfernandez on April 13, 2018 at 11:57 PM

Great scrap! Witkowski landed more punches. A few of Seeler's missed the target.

Posted by mo_town on March 07, 2018 at 08:59 AM

One of the best fights in awhile. Great rights being thrown by both.

Posted by GreatMurray on March 05, 2018 at 08:33 AM

WOW!!! FOY right Now!!! Holy Crap...I bet the Red Wings trade Witkowski tomorrow. They don't want anyone on the team that reminds them of Probie! What a fight! What a pair of chins! I can't believe neither of them busted their hands. I will give this to Witkowski because he got Seeler leaking a little and because Seeler had no clue where he was when he first went to the box. They both get a 9 from me though. Seeler gets huge points for jacking his team through the roof.

Posted by Goon71 on March 04, 2018 at 09:57 PM

Rock em Sock em. All offense How every fight should be

Posted by Ezekial on March 06, 2018 at 12:49 AM

Big ups to Seeler for sticking up for his guy, a dumber player would've gotten laid the fuck out by Witkowski on that one. I gotta say Witkowski and 9, it was fun while it lasted, but it didn't really last. LW looked like he coulda thrown 50 more but didn't want to keep going, gotta give him the edge. Respect both ways though.

Posted by jabberjaw112 on March 04, 2018 at 09:54 PM

Fight of the year

Posted by Bob Anders on March 05, 2018 at 02:03 PM

Great fight. Top 3 to 5 of the year. Draw but Witkowski might have had edge. By no means did Steeler embarrass himself.

Posted by dude986 on March 05, 2018 at 07:15 PM

I gave it to Witkowski by a hair since Seeler was bloody by the end. Fight of the year

Posted by jawhockey on March 04, 2018 at 10:07 PM

Wow Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots.

Posted by burnsy9 on March 05, 2018 at 10:47 AM

No defense here. Both guys chucking rights for all they are worth. Luke landed more and the more damaging blows based on Seeler's face in the box. Great fight.

Posted by streetdog on March 07, 2018 at 12:34 AM

Old school fight! One of the better fights in a while.

Posted by staceyb on March 06, 2018 at 04:51 AM

Now I see why the Wild waived Chris Stewart.

Posted by guvsplace on March 06, 2018 at 10:34 AM

Good ole fashioned donnybrook

Posted by [email protected] on March 09, 2018 at 12:11 AM

Great fight! Gave it to seeler cause he fought tough enough to earn a vote

Posted by Bear72 on March 05, 2018 at 10:42 AM

great fight candidate for foty

Posted by Robbie1973 on March 06, 2018 at 11:42 AM

Looked like Witkowski went for the big hit as the Wild entered the one and missed it and Seeler came in to let him know he saw it and then voila!!! Wish it was longer...I was just getting into it

Posted by buzzgun2000 on March 05, 2018 at 01:02 PM

I thought that I had accidentally brought up a fight from 2008. Old time hockey!

Posted by BigBadBruins68 on March 05, 2018 at 08:36 AM

Damn, these boys sure didn't give a damn about leaving their faces wide open and instead just threw with abandon. Witkowski looked to be perhaps a bit more accurate, and it shows on Seeler's face, but both definitely ate their fair share during the brief but thrilling tilt. There were no losers here. Draw and an 8.

Posted by Mounty in NC on March 08, 2018 at 11:10 AM

Nice spirited fight... one of the best this year. Reminded me of the old Detroit-Colorado brawls. 8 and a draw

Posted by Biggus on March 05, 2018 at 10:35 AM

Not sure what got that started, but wow! No defence and both kind of decided enough was enough at the end. FOTY.

Posted by slambo on March 09, 2018 at 02:32 AM

Now that was a treat!! Great job boys!! DRAW

Posted by Vito514 on March 05, 2018 at 12:07 AM

ya like somebody said to short to call it fight of the year but man do i miss scraps like this. i like witkowski and never heard of this seeler kid but if he keeps this shit up im looking forward to seeing more.

Posted by Richterfan on March 04, 2018 at 11:45 PM

OLD SCHOOL ROCK EM SOCK EM RIGHT THERE BOYS! SOLID DRAW! WAY TO GO BOYS!

WOW IM SHOCKED THE POEPLE ON THIS SITE are insane i seen an 8.4 then read the comments first i was getting ready for a probert vs link geatz here what a let down . Sorry not from the players but from the comments good fight but for real an 8 i read 1 comment saying not long enough to be foty that's an understatement when it ended i actually looked to see if i was watching the right fight no joke again nothing against the players but for real how sad is fighting theses days an 8.4 that's just insane

Posted by tpr1960 on March 05, 2018 at 07:38 AM

About time a real fight !!! Draw.

Posted by GoonVisor on March 05, 2018 at 03:27 PM

Good old style scrap, and an old school 4, but by today's standards this fight is an 8, so I'll split the difference and say 6. Slight edge to Luke

Posted by Humper on March 04, 2018 at 10:32 PM

Both these guys left defense at home and just let 'er rip toe to toe. Witkowski's punches were more accurate and looked more powerful, but Seeler didn't by any means embarrass himself.

Posted by TP99C5 on March 05, 2018 at 09:44 AM

Witkowski landed more punches!!

Posted by smichaels10 on March 09, 2018 at 08:22 PM

That was beautiful!! You don't see many fights like this anymore. Very enjoyable! Witkowski with the edge.

Posted by robiscoolduh on March 05, 2018 at 02:00 PM

Who would have guessed Witkowski would ever fight? Bwahaha

Posted by Boogeyman2383 on March 04, 2018 at 11:25 PM

Great fight. Both guys throwing bombs.

Posted by kari takko on March 05, 2018 at 01:45 AM

One of the easiest draws to score, nearly a punch for punch match. Wow.

Posted by Spartan2424 on March 04, 2018 at 09:33 PM

Both guys throwing haymakers!

Posted by clocker_rdw on March 07, 2018 at 05:26 PM

Looks like maybe Seeler thought Witkowski was taking a run at Parise. Witkowski wins slightly on accuracy and damage.

Posted by garbailian on March 05, 2018 at 03:28 AM

Seeler gets points for taking him on and protecting a team mate. He allowed Witkowski to square up on him and throw bombs which put Seeler in more of a defensive stance trying to play catch up with his own punches. Seeler was throwing blindly and Witkowski was more accurate. He has Seeler beat at the end and let up with an at a boy and a pat on the back for the rookie.

Posted by rocky 1 on March 04, 2018 at 10:49 PM

Both guys just a swinging for the fences.Too good by todays standard to give the win to either guy!

Posted by sedinfan on March 05, 2018 at 09:35 AM

Just when i am ready to give up on the "no hit league", this happens. Nice to see some old fashioned hockey.

Posted by BruinsAllDaySon on March 04, 2018 at 10:20 PM

Rarely does the slo-mo live up to what looks like happened But in the case of Seeler’s face and this week’s version of ‘I’ll do anything to stay up with the big boys’ It does. Witkowski with the W and gave it a 9er.
