Let's just say that Stephen Johns owes Curtis McKenzie a steak dinner for the latter taking a genuine ass whooping on behalf of the former.

Curtis McKenzie went looking to pick on Alexander Steen during a scrum after a bad hit on Alex Pietrangelo. Sadly, for him, Reaves decided to serve as a proxy for Steen. It didn't end well for McKenzie, who basically hid inside his jersey until Reaves got bored pummeling him.

Things could have gone so much worse for McKenzie had Reaves been genuinely angry. Reaves roughs him up a bit to let him know "Who's the Boss". Win Reaves.

Some Dallas folks were doing the "WHAT IF" thing...saying if Benn had been in there against Reaves it would have been different. Yup...any of you fools ever heard "Amazing Grace" played on the pipes? Dallas was made to look stupid and weak, but no one got hurt. Reaves had a little fun at McKenzie's expense. But if you want him he will be there next game. Hitchcock should put him out on the first shift, I sure as hell wish the Red Wings had Reaves...our tough guys are looking for the trans-gender bathrooms.

Not a Reaves fan...but mods should 86 that "cujoamoog" racist puke. Not cool dude. Spew your hillbilly hate elsewhere dip$hit. This is a hockey site, not a place for antiqued turds and their hateful messages. Pathetic.

nice Troy Crowder impersonation by Reaver on the way to the showers... #75 FTW

There was no way this was going to go well for McKenzie. Reaves is a bad, bad man and he proved it here.

Posted by English_Bruin on May 04, 2016 at 02:51 PM

I rate Reaves highly for standing up for his team mate and then deciding to twat someone else instead :o

Posted by storm13 on May 04, 2016 at 11:35 AM

McKenzie thought he was going to be smart and goad Steen into taking an "even up" penalty. He forgot to see who else was standing nearby. Not sure if the one punch was hard enough it made McKenzie loose his balance, of if it was hard enough to stun him through the helmet. Either way, big win for Reaves.

Nothing really landed but McKenzie was tossed around like an empty McDonald's soda cup. Reaves with the WIN and demonstrates a bit of class by letting the Mac off the hook with the throw down.

Reaves gave the young man a little taste on fighting. Dallas can't fight, can't score. Back to the ahl for junior.

Not sure but I think Reeves won this fight mmmmMMMMM .... good tough CANADIAN Kid !!!!!!!!!!!...

very disappointing loss for mckenzie.i expected more from him but reaves is a beast i love the helped to build the's different era though and it never escalated to its potential

Posted by Sketchyboy on May 04, 2016 at 10:10 AM

McKenzie was a ragdoll.

Posted by FHgrad99 on May 04, 2016 at 04:02 AM

"This isn't college" but I'd bet that McKenzie wishes he was still in college after this.

McKenzie didn't count of reaves to get involved lol bad move on his part

Posted by rocky 1 on May 31, 2016 at 07:41 PM

Clean hit. The fight ended as you would have expected with Reeves dominating!

Posted by Dawson1 on May 04, 2016 at 10:20 AM

Fight didn't really happen. Reaves threw some punches that didn't really connect, but looked like they pushed Mackenzie off balance. Fight ended with Mackenzie hitting the ice and Reaves pulling on his jersey for a little extra sauce.

A young gunslinger came in for a fight and found one on his very first night. He attacked like a brute but quickly found out the truth, as his enthusiasm got his young gun unslung.

McKenzie gets my vote for dumbest hockey player ever...arrives late for the party then picks the wrong dance partner

Posted by McGuffin on May 04, 2016 at 12:50 AM

Pietrangelo is lucky he got his arms extended to brace for that hit or he might have been into next week right now. McKenzie comes in and bites off far more than he can chew. This ends up being a combo ragdoll/turtling. Dallas got dismantled tonight. Win Reaves. Not close although there was really no damage.

Posted by CG3 on May 17, 2016 at 04:11 PM

Reaves had him dead to rights, and didn't bang him up nearly as badly as he could have. Rag dolling him at the end was a merciful ending.

Posted by PantherPete on April 08, 2018 at 12:07 AM

Two best parts of this: 1) Pierre McGuire commentary. "This isn't college." Classic! 2) Reaver beats him down and then seals it with a kiss to the Stars bench!

Posted by travist on May 04, 2016 at 03:51 PM

loved the kiss at the end...mckenzie had no idea what he was getting in to, despite the fact the blows were not clean, Reaves was throwing angry.

Posted by TWG1992 on May 04, 2016 at 02:41 AM

McKenzie gets called up from the AHL, tries to start crap and Reaves reminds him of his place. Go back to where you belong, you turtle. Easy win for Reaves.

Reaves Looking scary rag-dolling him and flipping him on the ice at the

reaves destroys,,,,love the kiss blow to the bench lol

Ladies and Gentlemen, the biggest contribution of Ryan Reaves' playoff career! Gave it a 1. Swinging for the fences before your opponent gets their gloves off just isn't that impressive.

Posted by slambo on May 05, 2016 at 12:04 AM

Reaves would have murdered him if he didn't turtle like a pu$$y...

Posted by Kana on May 04, 2016 at 04:32 PM

McKenzie looked like one of those inflatable flappy things you see outside used car dealerships. Fought like one too.

Posted by kari takko on May 04, 2016 at 12:14 PM

Puppy McKenzie goes apparently mental, Reeves steps in with the rolled up newspaper.

Posted by hal29 on May 05, 2016 at 03:10 AM

Typical Reaves. Fights out of his weight class or gets involved when someone is already tide up with someone else. Not impressed with Reaves. Can never really take on a heavy and win but does well with middle and lightweights. None the less he gets this one. More of an on ice bully than a tough guy. Remember him and Scott? Only way he could get a ounch in Scott was when he wasn't looking.
