Other Penalties: Calvert received an unsportsmanlike conduct.
for a guy deemed "offensively minded" and "skill guy" the undersized Carrick has a nasty attitude. granted Calvert isnt much bigger. BUT Carrick fights more than his "projected skillset" woukd lead you to believe. DRAW and a good one between two visored featherweights.
Don't know why Calvert's been given the edge here.... Fairly even.
That #88 ref is a monster! Liked the fight.. as far as the shields if this is how the NHL chooses to go..so be-it I guess broken hands are better than lost eyes (or however they justify it) as far as the fight.. I voted a draw and a five although I like matt Calvert and the small aggressive style he plays.
Decent fight. Helmets and visors are part of the game and that is it. Now as for 88 he needs to learn he is a lineman in the NHL and gets his ass out of the way and let them have at it. These are not two high school kids scrapping. Step back and let them go.
Carrick with the beatdown
Good effort from both these guys despite the oft-mentioned visor issue. I thought Calvert edged it, but wouldn't argue with a draw or Carrick verdict.
Clavert with the edge in this feisty little tussle.
I really like the way Matt Calvert plays.
CVIK #88 IS JUST ANOTHER REASON WHY NHL OFFICIALS BLOW. YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS BEING IN THERE EARLY AND EVEN TOUCHING THESE GUYS. THEY ARE THE SHOW NOT YOU YA BIG OVERGROWN DORK.
Decent fight. Draw
Not a bad scrap, pretty even. The way the Caps are playing lately they better at least start winning some fights.
Good Fight. Both guys got after it and unfortunately landed too many Bettman/Shanihan shield shots. Calvert appeared to have a slight edge in this frenzied bout but I will call it a draw due to the better punch landed by Carrick.
Actually a suprising result in Carrick's first NHL fight. Kid gets moved off the puck pretty easily so it was expected he'd not do well in a scrap, but he held his own early. Calvert came on late and got a few good shots at the very end. Carrick was scrappy about it even after they were down to the ice. Solid first fight but a mostly even DRAW
don't know much about this CALVERT seems pretty weak here . but wins
Gotta give it to Calvert for Carrick's on the ice last second jab
"The cavalry" gives up on trying to de-shield Carrick and proceeds to punch him to the ice Love those throw-back Caps jerseys
carrick's 1st nhl fight and he was doing quite ok but im giving the to calvert
Give it to Scrapper Matt for the burp gun blasts at the end.
Calvert--only because o Carrick' scheap shot at the end!!
Have to say I like Calvert. For a small skilled forward he's not afraid to get involved. He doesn't take any shit. There's really not many skill type players like that in the NHL anymore.
I'm surprised they weren't wearing football helmets. At least they tested the strength and durability of the face shield. Calvert by a hair.
spirited scrap amongst lightweights... edge Calvert
Caps fan here, winner - Calvert.
All in all, it was a nice scrap. Due to the fact that Calvert initiated the scrum with a player, jslightly smaller than he is, Carrick fought like a bulldog and had the upper hand for most of the fight. Calvert did get in a few at the end, but I give the win to Carrick. Don't ya just love to see the bully take one to the schnoz. Way to go Carrick.
Readyj says Heavy weights? I say what the hell are u talking about? McG could fight both of the these guys at the same time and be competitive. Calvert 5'9 175, Carrick 5'10 183. Annnnyways.... Decent fight Draw
What an awkward fight... not to detract from either principal, but they both looked like they were unsure of what to do next draw
Nice scrap by two little guys. Carrick has had an interesting year, played a few games for Caps, got sent down, played in World Juniors, back in the NHL and had his first fight
Visors or not, this was still a pretty entertaining fight. Carrick early and Calvert late, I'll call it a draw. However, the mandatory visor rule does seem to get dumber by the day.
Pretty good tilt. Carrick with a couple after they were down was a little cheap.
I was hoping the linesman would step in and start scrapping too . That guy is a monster . Anyhow. Calvert with the win.
Kid Calvert slaps this punks arse!
This would have been an excellent fight if not for the visors. Thanks NHL, for ruining the game. Players are going to get broken and mangled hands by punching face shields. Not only has the league NOT made it safer for players, it's made the game more dangerous. The NHLPA is pathetic if they think this visor thing helps the players. They're going to reexamine this asinine rule when a player like Crosby, Tavares or Kane gets into a rare fight and breaks one of their magic hands on a stupid piece of plexiglass and the game loses a superstar (and gate draw) for an extended period of time. Suck my a$$ NHL and NHLPA. And "F" you Marc Staal for being the whining little pu$$y that was the catalyst behind this sh*t with your incessant public bellyaching. Die!
What's with the short elbows on the ground? Clearasil Calvert is a scrappy little guy as is Carprick.... Never did like C&C on the rocks or with coke. Give me the Lord Calvert and Ginger Ale.
good heavy weight fight......I would to see Carrick go with McGratton - that would be a classic.
Another visor fight. Two guys either trying to break their hands or each other's visors! A ridiculous waste of time and a Draw.
