These days Duncan Keith fights about as often as Muhammad Ali and it shows but he saw his teammate get laid out with a legal hit and went after Desjardins. Once again the refs blew the call by giving Desjardins a match penalty which was rescinded by the league after the game.

Sucked the hit was good

Posted by probie4life on February 06, 2013 at 02:05 AM

The fight never materialized, but that was just a clean and solid shoulder to shoulder great hit!

Posted by wallysy1 on February 06, 2013 at 01:40 AM

get to see same hit 11 times but the fight was in background. No doubt desjardin wins, but gonna score it for the record a draw, since this was a small guy fending for his teammate against a big guy.

Didn't look like much of a fight at all....love to see a player stick up for a teammate who just received a cheap shot

Posted by The_Rickster on February 06, 2013 at 04:38 PM

Not the bgest fight but kudos to Keith for doing what a good teammate does!

Posted by AC1026 on February 06, 2013 at 07:02 AM

Boarderline dirty hit. Duncan Keith reacts, probably loses, but gets points for sticking up for his linemate. So its a draw.

Really?!? Duncan Keith won that crap fight?? Homers are at it, yet again...

Hats off to Keith. Calling out BOOOLLIIIIIIG, next match up between these two teams

Desjardins gives Mayers a poormans' re-enactment of the Lindros-Stevens incident Keith shows up later to test his own visor strength and is rammed into the boards for his trouble

andrew with the win

Posted by bboyer on February 09, 2013 at 01:49 PM

Second hit to the head penalty I've seen this year, where no one was hit in the head. ( Other one was Blues Backes against Red Wings). Idiot Zebras are now penalizing clean shoulder checks and giving 5 minutes no less. Lets put skirts on the boys and not let em bump each other. Pathetic. Win Desjardins. Pathetic, might as well turn on some ice dancing. Makes me sick what theyre doing to the game.

The NHL needs to figure out a way to keep guys from having to fight after clean, hard, hits. There's a time and place; this wasn't it.

Posted by nait on February 06, 2013 at 08:32 AM

outside of the launch it was a clean hit shoulder to shoulder. That's why when in open ice you keep your head on a swivel

Posted by pvdrummer2000 on February 07, 2013 at 11:59 PM

I give the fight a draw, but Desjardins open ice check was a beauty.

Posted by redlenses on February 06, 2013 at 03:33 AM

Clean but very hard hit by Desjardins, Keith stands up for Mayers and loses. Desjardins is the real loser to the referees who throw him out of the game for a good hockey hit.

Posted by riffraff on February 06, 2013 at 09:42 PM

Nice to see that visor wearing cheap piece of shit react to a clean hit, something Keith knows little about, then take a beating. Suck it hawks.

Posted by legend22 on February 07, 2013 at 12:00 PM

this isnt a fight

Posted by Joceron on February 06, 2013 at 05:27 PM

Clean hit, fight not worth vote.

Posted by OlKoot on February 08, 2013 at 11:47 AM

A good hit and good on Keith to respond, but he's not really a capable scrapper.

Posted by DARCY T on February 07, 2013 at 05:35 AM

keith stepped up for his teammate but he got beaten up

Posted by GreatMurray on February 06, 2013 at 07:38 PM

Hit was marginal...bad call by the ref...no hit to the head that i could see. Keith loses the fight easily.

Posted by bammer24 on February 06, 2013 at 02:45 AM

Mayers keep your head up,.Desjardins easily.

Classless move by desjardins, glad to see Keith actually get physical

Posted by SharkTank19 on February 06, 2013 at 07:54 PM

Win Desjardins. Clean hit, caught Mayers with his head down. Keith feeling a bit guility because he gave him that suicide pass. Desjardins is a tough customer, clear winner.

Posted by EAEA on February 06, 2013 at 12:09 PM

This retaliation b.s. for clean hits has to stop. Keith is a loser just based on that (of, but then he still lost the fight anyway). Mis-call on the refs part!

Posted by alan22 on February 07, 2013 at 02:40 AM

CLEAN hit, and in a trend that I don't like, retribution for it. I know this is a fight site but I hate it when fights start over a 100% clean hit.

Posted by hawkwing24 on February 06, 2013 at 05:04 PM

This was no fight? how can you twits give Desjardins an edge? Give props to Keith for instigating- AD came off his skates to pummel Mayers- should be a suspension! cheap shot at a guy who was watching the play........Shanny come on! GO HAWKS! 2013 CUP WINNERS!

Posted by Jordybats99 on April 20, 2016 at 09:06 PM

Ada boy Keith. But win Desjardins.

Posted by Oil Can Henry on February 07, 2013 at 12:47 PM

...NO HIT to the HEAD -- NO WAY! THAT is a BOGUS call -- CLEAN hit all-the-way! THIS is EXACTLY why the NHL is being RUINED,....because the league is hell-bent on ELIMINATING all physical-play! TEXT BOOK HIT by Desjardins,...NO LAUNCHING, whatsoever,...and he DIDN'T deliver it to the HEAD! THIS is the way the game is supposed to be played AND intended to be played,

Posted by adamfry on February 06, 2013 at 08:04 PM

crap fight but I love that the home team announcers didn't wine and cry about the hit, even though it was against their player. Refs got that one wrong...

Posted by Radiotalker on February 07, 2013 at 11:42 PM

Clean hit and clean win for AD.

Posted by wannago_letsgo on February 06, 2013 at 11:22 AM

The match penalty to Desjardins was rescinded, ref made the right call on the ice and the league made the right call later. You gotta call what you see and if you were on the ice you would have seen the same thing. At first look it did look like a head shot, on slow-mo you see there is no head contact. Good for Keith to step in for a teammate, normally it would be Mayers stepping in when Keith gets hit. Good to see.

Posted by kkdowning on February 06, 2013 at 05:31 PM

Presumably Duncan Keith felt guilty for that hospital pass. Consensus seems to be clean hit -- certainly looked clean.

Posted by Tiburon on February 06, 2013 at 01:51 PM

For the record Keith is 6'1" 200lbs and Desjardin is listed as 6'1" 195 , not "much bigger"

Posted by chad420 on February 07, 2013 at 08:15 AM

win ADD

Posted by LordKOTL on February 11, 2013 at 10:06 AM

Even though Keith won some points from the 'hawks fans for sticking up for a teammate (something not seen much in the past 2 years), he crumbles like a japanese reactor in an earthquake.

Posted by crau on February 07, 2013 at 11:11 AM

looked he got mostly shoulder with the initial hit. don't think it was a match penalty.

Posted by SouthPaw017 on February 07, 2013 at 08:11 AM

Mayers blown up... Not much video of the fight... OriginalSex1957 flaccid once again...

Posted by karlelvis on February 06, 2013 at 11:41 AM

While it wasn't much of a fight, Desjardins was never anything but dominant; it really wasn't ever a contest.

Posted by fernben8 on February 06, 2013 at 11:25 PM

I guess by hockey rules, that would be considered a 'clean' hit as Meyers did made contact with the puck.... Howerver, I see otherwise. Meyers was blind sided and it was a dangerous body check. Where's the respect ? Good job by Keith to step up for Meyers ( Jamal always does for his teamates as well ). Unfortunately for Desjardins...he'll have to face the music with Jamal next meeting.
