Jackman, Flames Keep Busy
If you’re looking for the most active team in terms of fights so far this season, you’ll have to look west.
The Flames passed the Ducks in team fighting majors tonight, led by Tim Jackman, who had a solid scrap with Avs rookie David Liffiton. It was Jackman’s third fight in as many games, which has tied him with Mike Brown and Zenon Konopka for the lead in the individual department as well.
Dion Phaneuf, who is always good for a handful of fights a season, settled a score with Nathan Horton during the middle of Leafs–B’s:
?We were talking there and it?s kind of a mutual thing,? said Phaneuf, making it sound all so matter-of-fact. ?He gave me a shot early in the game, I gave him one back. I battled against him for a long time. Known him for a long time. It?s part of the game.?

?I want to do anything to help give my teammates a boost, help them out,? said Horton, who leads the team in scoring with five goals four assists, but was held pointless Thursday night. ?We are always battling, me and him. We were winning, but just pick the right spots and it kind of happens.?
Elsewhere
After much mention, at least in these forums, Kyle Clifford participated in his first regular season bout on Thursday, taking on Brian Sutherby. Longtime fan-favorite Darcy Hordichuk also made his return to the Panthers official, providing excitement as usual against Matt Carkner.
Wednesday’s slate of games brought forth three bouts, including a pair in Devils–Sharks as Adam Mair became reacquainted with Jamal Mayers and Matt Corrente injured his hand against Ryane Clowe. Retribution for a Mike Camalleri preseason incident wasn’t in the cards as only a marathon fight between Konopka and Travis Moen took place in Isles–Habs.
