The classic Red WingsBlackhawks rivalry actually saw a fight. The fighting major, a rare occurrence in Detroit nowadays, happened thanks to Brad May, who signed yesterday.

May’s opponent was the willing Czech Radek Smolenak.  May did well against the young Hawk and no one could have been happier than Mickey Redmond.  Hopefully there will be more clips posted with his voice on them.

Hit ‘em, drop ‘em

A couple of fights were spawned from big hits.  Zenon Konopka checked Matt Halischuk hard, almost from behind.  Bryce Salvador then quickly went over to Konpoka in response.  In Buffalo Patrick Kaleta laid out Petr PruchaMartin Hanzal stepped up for the Coyotes and received a PIMs package worthy of Dave Schultz for his efforts.

Another size mismatch

Similar to last night, we have another match-up with a big size disparity.  Derek Dorsett took on Frazer McLaren.  Unlike the other night, both players are experienced with their gloves off.  Dorsett took advantage of McLaren being tied up in his jersey as long as he could, but eventually the big man got his arm free to land some good shots of his own.  The fight was shortly after Ryane Clowe handled Michael Blunden easily.
