Oct 11, 2003 1pd 10:32 Jody Shelley NYR Dale Purinton
Comments: With the Rangers down 2-0 and showing very little life, Purinton tries to spark his team. Starts off very spirited, with each throwing rights. Shelley lands a good right to Purinton's cheek. Shelley seems to be in control with a flurry of punches, but Purinton comes back to make it respectable, landing a few himself. Shelley got the takedown to end the fight.

Oct 18, 2003 2pd 03:27 Jody Shelley @NAS Wade Brookbank
Comments: Fair squareoff at center ice as Brookbank throws a right jab to Shelley's face as Shelley comes in for the grab, then gets the first right off to the helmet. They are now locked and loaded, holding on with the left and throwing rights - first two miss, Shelley lands a right to the chin, then they both throw grazing blows with a pair of blind right hands. Shelley tosses a pair of rights in close that go nowhere as BB does the same. They continue to hold on with left hands, chucking rights - Shelley lands on the temple, Brookbank throws a right into the air in front of Jody's face while Shelley's right lands on top of BB's helmet (he's hunched over a little). Both miss with rights in stereo - now a little grappling. As BB's left comes free Shelley tries to throw another right, so Brookbank grabs back on, then grazes a right off of the top of Shelley's helmet and misses with another right. Jody switches hands, grabs hold with the right and tries the left, going nowhere, switches back to the right. Now they are both facing each other, lefts extended on each other's jerseys, here come the rights - BB misses with two while Shelley lands a soft one on the kisser. Both land soft rights to the face with no damage, both miss again, next Brookbank throws a right as his elbow pad comes sliding down his arm into Shelley's face, looks like an extension or something. Shelley's coming forward, misses with a right. Brookbank is backing up, a slap with the right to Jody's cheek, so Jody grabs BB's right and tries an overhand left that misses. BB's crouched down in front away from Shelley, now pulling with both hands on Jody's right arm to throw him off balance. Shelley stands up and with his free left comes down on Brookbank's back with a powder-puff toss. They start pushing to try to get free, Brookbank is down on a knee with Shelley on top, looks like its over, but he gets right back up and they start hugging. Brookbank is trying to get Shelley's jersey off, then misses with a right, Jody just misses with a left across the bow. Brookbank's right has come out of his jersey, he tries to get it back on but can't, and they keep wrestling. They're now locked out as Shelley throws a right that doesn't do much damage. Brookbank bounces a right off of Shelley's temple. A little more wrestling and a spin. Rights in stereo miss. Brookbank's helmet is off now as he throws a right that lands with no sting. They both miss with wild rights, now they are holding on gasping as the linesmen step in to give them a much needed rest. A lot of action, almost no damage.

Comments: Commercial after the Shelley-Erskine fight. They come back and show a replay of Spacek laying on the ice (very exciting). They slowly cut to the fight and Ott is covered up with Ling on top, and the linesmen already in between them. Didn't seem like much happened, and it happened fast.

Comments: Ruutu facewashes shelley and Ling comes in and and drops the the gloves. Ruutu drops his and they tie each other up. Ruutu throws a few little jabs that might connect, then they tie up again. Ruutu gets free again and is the only one throwing/landing anything. Other Penalties: Ruutu received a roughing.

Nov 01, 2003 1pd 06:10 Jody Shelley @CAL Krzysztof Oliwa
Comments: Shelley finishes a check on Oliwa along the side boards. Oliwa, gives Shelley a couple of cross checks to the back. They skate toe to toe, Oliwa drops the mitts. Shelley waits, then finally drops them himself. Oliwa instantly lands two square rights to the cheek/eye. A couple of wild swings from Shelley, neither seem to connect or cause any damage. They wrestle around for a bit and the linesmen step in. Shelley has a large cut under his eye, decent amount of blood. Other Penalties: Oliwa received a cross checking and roughing.

Comments: Starts from another scrum. Good little slugfest here. Cowan lands early with a left. Some wrestling and short punches before McDonnell comes back with a hard right on Cowan. Good back and forth, with at least one flush bomb landed by Cowan. McDonnell asks for it to end and the linesmen come in. Other Penalties: Cowan and McDonnell each received a misconduct; Chris Tamer and Tyler Wright each received a roughing; Jody Shelley a hooking.

Nov 11, 2003 1pd 00:33 Luke Richardson @MON Steve Begin
Comments: Begin drops the gloves first, Richardson follows and throws a right that comes just short of Begin's face. Then they throw simultaneous rights, Begin landing his shot and Luke grazed the side of Begin's face. Begin then tries two more rights, and Richardson throws one, but nothing landing there for either player. Begin then switches hands and lands a solid left to Richardson's face. From that, Luke bends down and its over.

Nov 13, 2003 3pd 02:59 Jody Shelley @OTT Shane Hnidy
Comments: It starts along the boards, Hnidy trips as the fight starts. Shelley takes advantage throwing two rights, one lands, knocking of Hnidy's helmet. Hnidy tries throwing something, but Shelley has a good hold of him. They begin to wrestle, and that pretty much continues for the rest of the fight. During all the wrestling, Shelley tried throwing rights, but nothing landed. Hnidy throws a few lefts, which go nowhere and a two rights near the end of the fight, which barely touch Shelley.

Nov 13, 2003 3pd 12:43 Jody Shelley @OTT Chris Neil
Comments: During play, they agree to go, dropping the gloves and tying up. Shelley misses with an overhand right as Neil moves his head to the side. Neil lands a weak right. Shelley nails him with a solid right of his own, then misses. Neil hammers Shelley with two lefts, the second one knocking the helmet off of Shelley's head. Then they both swing at the same time, can't tell if they landed, but Shelley loses his balance, going to the ice then quickly getting back up. They both land a right at the same time. A few glancing blows are exchanged before Neil lands a rock solid right to Shelley's jaw. Shelley goes down to one knee as Neil swings again. He tries to muscle himself free of the grip Neil has on his jersey, but the linesmen come in and grab them. Shelley barks some parting words at Neil.

Nov 14, 2003 1pd 06:12 Jody Shelley BOS Hal Gill
Comments: It started during a scrum after a Ling slash, looked like all was done and then Gill and Shelley drop em. Gill is trying to hold Shelley off, Shelley attempts to throw punches which didn't look to connect then on comes the commercial! Replay showed nothing much happening after that though. Other Penalties: David Ling received a slashing.

Nov 14, 2003 2pd 16:48 Luke Richardson BOS Joe Thornton
Comments: Richardson throws a good open ice hit on Murray putting him to the ice. Knuble has a word for him, then Thornton comes in, they have words then drop em. They grapple a bit and Thornton, with his reach, gets a good hold with his right and starts throwing left uppercuts. He lands a few, with one good one snapping Luke's head back. Thornton seemed to have him where he could have pounded Luke, but started throwing those hold-the-collar-rights, which did nothing. Richardson throws an in-close punch from the side, a right that hits helmet, then tries the takedown, but Joe throws a tomahawk shot which makes Luke hit the ice first. Other Penalties: Thornton received an instigator and misconduct.

Comments: Fritsche of the Blue Jackets flies into Burke in the net, they go down in a pile and of course a huge scrum follows. McDonell and Gratton skate off away from the traffic jam, drop em and go at it, with Gratton handling McDonell pretty easily, switching hands at will in a spirited fight. No damage done to either fighter. Other Penalties: Dan Fritsche and Ossi Vaananen each received a roughing.

Comments: Spiller takes umbrage with the face wash Grand-Pierre gives him on a check and starts shoving. They both drop and throw pretty quickly, with Grand-Pierre losing his balance and falling down with Spiller on top. The refs stand back so they are able to get back up, but both are locked out and stay that way for about 45 seconds, with neither fighter able to throw anything meaningful. The linesmen then break it up. They both got a few swings in early then nothing after that.

Comments: They drop the gloves at center ice and by time the camera gets there they have each other tied up, yet Bootland some how has the left free and is chucking short jabs that aren't really connecting because Ling has Boot's jersey up in front of his face. Most of the punches thrown hit the glass. No damage done. Other Penalties: Bootland received an instigator and misconduct.

Comments: Boots lays a big hit and in comes Sydor and drops the gloves. Sydor starts firing body shots like mad and an occasional shot to the head. Boots is holding on for dear life and looks a little confused. Boots actually didn't drop the gloves for about 5 seconds after Sydor started swinging. Bootland then gets free and throws a couple, but nothing lands. Sydor gets a nick on the nose from Bootland's helmet.

Comments: They line up opposite each other on the faceoff, Godard taps Shelley the puck is dropped and away we go, nice even squareoff. Shelley goes in first, throwing rights, Godard then answers with rights of his own, both guys are landing right hands. Godard puts his head down to throw a nice right uppercut that lands square on Shelleys face. Both guys are just chucking them in an excellent scrap, but Godard did land a better punch or two, square to Shelley's face while Shelley was generally getting helmet. Shelley was dripping a decent amount of blood from his nose when it was done.

Tootoo throws several overhand rights to start things off, connecting with a couple of decent shots. Klesla tries to tie him up. Klesla gets bent over and Tootoo throws a couple of uppercuts, couldn't tell if they landed. Klesla gets straightened up and Tootoo knocks Klesla to the ice. However, the linesman were busy trying to pull Tootoo off of Klesla, so Fiddler fed Spacek a few more for good measure while on the ice. Other Penalties: Each player received a game misconduct.

Comments: Takes place pretty much right off the draw in the Chicago zone. Aitken does alright at the start being the busier fighter earlier on. They have a pretty good hold of one another, but Shelley gets his right free and throws a few, then removes Aitken's helmet. Johnson grabs on with his left and throws a big right to the back of a ducking Shelley's head. Johnson rings another heavy right of the top of Shelley's helmet. Comments: On the faceoff immediately after the Tootoo-Wright fight, these guys discard the unneeded gear. Shelley starts with two rights that catch Jim, Mac came back with three lefts and Shelley threw four more rights, looked pretty even. They grappled a bit then Shelley unloaded with six or seven overhand noogies that really looked to bounce Mac's head around. They grappled in-tight again and Mac really was looking to unload a lethal right on Shelley but never got the chance. Comments: Off the faceoff Shelley asks and Parker obliges. Shelley gets a quick right off dislodging Parker's helmet and they trade rights. Both are keeping each other at arms-length. Parker uses his left to throw quick, effective left jabs. Parker is getting Shelley's jersey up in his face trying to get in closer. Parker has control in this one, initiating all exchanges. Parker goes to some body shots with the right. They hold on longer to find that right moment to punch and they finally both get loose and trade some right bombs with both landing some decent ones. Parker then gets the elbow pad loose, throwing more shots to the side, then a few over the top with Shelley coming back with some misfired rights of his own. They tire and the linesmen come in.

Mar 06, 2004 1pd 09:31 Jody Shelley VAN Wade Brookbank
Comments: These two guys drop the gloves behind the play. After a square off they grab on and start tossing haymakers. Brookbank connects early with a good shot that looks to cut Shelley. Shelley comes back with a couple of good shots of his own, knocking Brookbank off-balance and dropping him to his knees. Brookbank gets back up and they both throw a few more punches.

Comments: Shelley hears Brookbank yell something at him and the gloves fly. Shelley lands an initial bomb, but Brookbank gets off about 6-8 rights. Shelley straightens himself up and gets in about 2-3 shots, one stunning Brookbank, before they tie each other up by the bench and the refs come in.

Mar 18, 2004 2pd 06:09 Jody Shelley @CAL Krzysztof Oliwa
Comments: Right off a faceoff, they get the gloves up and then drop em. Shelley nails Oliwa with about three quick rights before Oliwa gets off anything. They get locked up a little and then they both start throwing rights with few landing by either man. At the end Oliwa gets in a good right and then they get tangled up and Shelley goes for the takedown.

Mar 21, 2004 1pd 06:19 Jody Shelley @VAN Wade Brookbank
Comments: Both grab a hold of some jersey and start chucking rights. Nothing looks to land from either guy. Brookbank then gets a bit loose and lets off a flurry of jabs, perhaps three or four, connecting on at least one, cutting Shelley. Brookbank then ties Shelley up. The linesmen try to come in, but Shelley tells them not to and Brookbank continues to just tie up Shelley until the linesmen do step in.

Mar 24, 2004 2pd 06:01 Jody Shelley MIN Alex Henry
Comments: At the end of the play someone gives Richardson a little shove in front of the Blue Jackets net. Players come together along the boards and Henry grabs a hold of a Jacket so over comes Shelley. Shelley drops the gloves and pops Henry with a big right smack in the eye. Down goes Henry, gloves still on. The announcers mentioned Henry was bleeding, but it was not shown. Other Penalties: Shelley received a roughing, misconduct and game misconduct; Stephane Veilleux a roughing. Alex Henry did not receive a fighting major.

Mar 24, 2004 2pd 13:39 David Ling MIN Jason Wiemer
Comments: Ling lays one of the best hits of this year on a Wild player, and in comes Wiemer to challenge. Ling connects with a big left across the jaw and then Wiemer gets Ling's jersey over his head and Ling slips down to the ice. Wiemer holds on and starts throwing rights, with about three landing to the back of Ling's jersey-covered head. Other Penalties: Wiemer received an instigator and misconduct.

Mar 27, 2004 2pd 08:20 David Ling @NAS Jordin Tootoo
Comments: Tootoo runs Spacek, Ling asks for a dance and Tootoo obliges. They shed the gloves and grab on. They exchange a couple of lefts, nothing major landing. Tootoo switches to the right and pushes Lings helmet off and throws a couple of short rights that are ineffective. Tootoo gets Ling's jersey over his head and tries a couple of lefts, but no damage was done to Ling. Ling tries to come over the top with a blind left but hits Tootoo's right shoulder. The linesmen see Ling's head is stuck in his jersey and come in to separate the two. Other Penalties: Ling received an instigator and misconduct.
