Directly after the faceoff, the two drop the gloves and have a short square off at center ice. They grab on to each other and Adams throws a right while they spin around. They wrestle for position and LaCouture throws a left that Adams is able to duck under. Adams goes for a takedown but LaCouture is able to push him down to the ice. The linesmen come in shortly after.

A scrum develops along the side boards as all of the players get into the action. Thorburn and Adams start pushing and shoving, ask each other to go, and then drop the gloves, skating away from the pile. They grab ahold of each other and wrestle for position while Adams takes off Thorburn's helmet. Thorburn throws two rights just before he wrestles Adams to the ice. The linesmen jump in right after and the fight ends. Other Penalties: Mike Commodore received a cross checking.

Adams hits Hnidy hard along the boards and Hnidy turns around, grabbing Adams and shoving him up against the glass a few times. The two then drop the gloves and tie up rather quickly. Hnidy throws six rights to the back of Adams' head while Adams works successfully to get Hnidy's helmet off. Adams get Hnidy's jersey up and over his head and struggles to throw punches, getting off three rights prior to the linesmen rushing in to save Adams. Other Penalties: Each player received a roughing.

The whistle blows to stop play and Adams gives Vigier a late cross check and gloved punch along the boards. Vigier quickly drops his gloves and grabs Adams, who also follows suit and drops his mitts. Adams pushes Vigier into the boards, but the linesmen immediately intervene, just as Vigier is throwing an overhand right to Adams' back. Other Penalties: Garnet Exelby received a charging.

A scrum develops along the boards with Thorburn and Commodore grabbing each other. Thorburn tries to get his hands on Anton Babchuk, but he is pulled away by Commodore. They drop the gloves and Thorburn starts things off with two overhand rights that hit Commodore's helmet. Commodore responds with a short right and Thorburn throws two lefts just before Commodore throws a right and left combination. They then exchange a pair of rights and wrestle around until Thorburn misses with a right and loses his balance, allowing Commodore to get in a right of his own before Thorburn falls to the ice. The linesmen are there immediately to break things up. Other Penalties: Maxime Talbot received a roughing.

Behind the play the two grab each other and quickly toss the sticks and gloves aside. They start things off by exchanging a few rights and body shots while each one tries to get set up. Walker connects with three rights to the back of Clark's head. Clark returns fire with a whipping right of his own and Walker lands another one to the back of Clark's head. Clark then goes inside with an uppercut that just misses the target. Walker continues to throw rights to the back of Clark's head, eventually knocking his helmet off. Clark comes back with a right during the flurry and Walker keeps on throwing rights to the back of Clark until the linesmen step in and end the fight.

Ponikarovsky collides knee-on-knee with Rod Brind'amour, sending Brind'amour to the ice clutching his knee. Tanabe quickly goes after Ponikarovsky and the two drop the gloves. They grab ahold of each other and spin around while Ponikarovsky throws some rights. Ponikarovsky blocks a right from Tanabe and responds with a right of his own. Tanabe connects with a hard right and Ponikarovsky blocks another shot before wrestling Tanabe to the ice. The linesmen come in shortly after and end the fight.

Gleason shoves Brad Richards down to the ice while Richards tries to get his stick on the puck. Roy goes over to Gleason in defense of his teammate and they drop the gloves. They grab ahold of each other and Roy throws two rights connecting flush to Gleason's face before he loses his balance and goes down to his knees. This allows Gleason to get in two rights of his own before he slips and falls just as Roy is getting back up to his feet. The linesmen then gradually move in and break things up.

A scrum develops in front of the Montreal net and out of it come Ladd and Rivet tied up with their gloves dropped. They skate farther down ice and Rivet strikes first with a flurry of four rights while Ladd tries to get set up. Ladd returns fire with a right cross followed by a body shot and a hard right that Rivet is able to counter with a right of his own. Ladd throws two jersey-jabs and Rivet responds with a jersey-jab, right cross combination that connects. Rivet switches hands and throws two lefts just as Ladd comes back with another right. Ladd tries to get Rivet's helmet off, but Rivet is able to get him bent over. They then exchange a couple of overhand rights until they tire out and allow the linesmen to come in.

Alberts knocks Walker to the ice with a hit in front of the Bruins' net. Walker gets back to his feet and challenges Alberts, quickly dropping his gloves and throwing two rights before Alberts even has his gloves off. Alberts ditches hit mitts and Walker throws four more rights until Alberts returns fire with a right of his own. Walker throws another right and they go toe-to-toe with wild right hands. Alberts stops throwing for a moment, allowing Walker to connect with two rights, the last one sending Alberts' helmet flying. Walker gets Alberts' jersey up and over his head and throws a flurry of rights and uppercuts. Alberts' responds with a blind right and Walker continues to throw rights after that. Alberts' throws a couple of more blind punches and Walker throws another right just before he loses his balance and falls to the ice. The linesmen move in and Alberts' gets in two late rights while Walker is down. Walker stands back up and gets in two rabbit punches while the linesmen are trying to break them up. Shortly after that they're separated and the fight finally ends.

Hollweg and Commodore push and shove near the benches until they decide to drop the gloves. They immediately grab ahold of one another and Hollweg loses his balance, going down to his knees for a short moment before getting back up. Commodore throws a mix of uppercuts and rights to the back, side, and front of Hollweg's head. Hollweg is able to partially push Commodore away with his left hand and attempt a couple of locked-out rights. Commodore does the same and Hollweg is able to switch hands, connecting with a left cross. Hollweg connects with another left and the two then go back and forth with a couple of locked-out rights. Hollweg then drags Commodore to the ice and the linesmen are right there to break things up and end the fight. Other Penalties: Sean Avery received a roughing.

Gleason continues to go with jersey-jabs mixed in with a right and Fedoruk throws a left during the exchange. Fedoruk throws a right hook and Gleason answers with two more rights that knock Fedoruk's helmet off. Gleason then throws a flurry of five unanswered rights with two of them connecting while Fedoruk tries to move away from the shots. Gleason is then able to wrestle Fedoruk down to the ice and the linesmen are right there to intervene. Other Penalties: Fedoruk received a hooking.

Roberts lands a left and they then go toe-to-toe with punches: Roberts staying with the left, Gleason choosing the right. They continue to throw until Roberts connects with one last left that sends Gleason falling to the ice. They continue to trade shots while they are down on the ice, forcing the linesmen to quickly come in and grab them before anything else can happen. Other Penalties: Gleason received a roughing; Roberts a high sticking.

Gleason shoves him up against the boards and they go ahead and drop their gloves. Gleason throws an uppercut and a right before Clymer is even set. Gleason pushes Clymer up against the glass again. Gleason then throws a right cross that misses because Clymer is already falling to his knees. Clymer gets back up to his feet and the two wrestle around until the linesmen are ready to intervene.

Vincent Lecavalier buries Frantisek Kaberle into the boards, causing Tanabe and a few other 'Canes to go after him. O'Brien comes to Lecavalier's aide and shoves Tanabe to the ice. Tanabe gets back up and they drop the gloves, squaring off at center ice. They grab ahold of each other and wrestle for a bit. O'Brien throws two rights at the back of Tanabe's helmet while Tanabe tries to push O'Brien into the boards. Tanabe goes down to a knee, allowing O'Brien to take his helmet off. O'Brien then throws three rights to the back of Tanabe's head as well as getting in an uppercut. Tanabe falls to the ice and O'Brien quickly lets go just as the linesmen start to move in.
