Kaleta proves he's improving as a fighter. Great fight!

Posted by jacketsfan61 on December 04, 2010 at 01:35 PM

Dorsett's shift: 1:06, Kaletta 0:02... Kaleta with a coward move coming off the bench and basicall pulls dorsett out of a line change after a long shift where CBJ was hemmed for most of the minute... Not knowing who he is fighting or that kaleta was a lefty dorsett takes a beating, tired but still stands in there... Then after that Kaleta has the audacity to show boat like he is actually tough.... What a loser!

Posted by jtl6713 on December 04, 2010 at 04:54 AM

Great showing by Kaleta fighting through some early rights to dominate as a southpaw. Agree that the showboating wasn't called for, but he had gotten boarded earlier in the game and Dorsett was going after Vanek...

Posted by SABREHATRED on December 03, 2010 at 11:47 PM

Typical GUTLESS and CLASSLESS move by Krumleta to jump a guy from behind at the end of the shift! Luckily for Dorsett that Krumleta has pipe cleaners for arms and marshmellows for knuckles because this PUNK couldn't knockout a cripple! HAHAHAHAahA Krumleta represents TURDCITY perfectly and their LOSER fans actually believe that they have a chance of NOT CHOKING and BLOWING another season! What a city full of jobless MORONS and SMELLY UGLY BROADS! AHAHAhAhahAha

Can't give a win to a idiot like Kaleta with that kind of showboating. Go back to minor league hockey with that garbage.

Posted by slapshot2626 on December 04, 2010 at 08:19 AM

Thats right Patrick.....job finished. Back to the gym Dorsett.

Posted by hall5875 on December 04, 2010 at 12:47 PM

typical d-bag move, start a fight at the beginning of your shift with someone who's just getting off the ice from theirs...kaleta, cooke, avery, ruutu (jarko), downey are all d-bags who have never and will never stand toe-to-toe and fight; it's always from behind, or sucker punches, or against euros who never fight or finesse players...NHL needs to get rid of the 'instigator' rule so the real tough guys can wipe these d-bags out of the league

Posted by QUIGGS22 on December 04, 2010 at 08:21 AM

Kaleta dominates but as usual shows no class .

Posted by guas99 on December 04, 2010 at 03:32 PM

Kaleta is still a bitch. Lands 20 punches but Dorsett wasnt even bleeding. Hit him with your purse next time, sissy.

He sent a clear message that cheap shots will not be tolerated. " Oh c'mon, two wrongs doesn't make showboating OK. Quit making excuses for Kaleta acting like a douchebag! The fight itself should have sent the message, if not then why didn't he just got to center ice and start showboating...without fighting. They don't need that punk ass crap....he will get a beat down for doing that! There's always someone Bigger, faster, tougher...stronger. I give him the fight was ease....but would have kicked him out of the game for being a DICK about it. The NHL does not need a Terrell Owens!

this fight was lame. i give it a 5. kaleta w the lame TKO.

Posted by JRush82 on December 04, 2010 at 05:15 PM

Kaleta with the win, but really it looked a whole lot more impressive than it was. The guy just throws short little shots furiously, most of them don't really hit, he landed a few in this fight, but I think he skewed a lot of peoples opinions with his furious short punches. Same crap as the fight with Schenn, I really wanted to give him the loss after the BS at the end, but he did enough to win. Can't wait to see him man up to a real challenge someday.

Dorkett gets the snot beat out of his ass for starting this. I think Patty was saying half way thru that I'm going to hit you with so many lefts, you'll be begging for a right and he delivered on his promise. Patty destoys Dorkett as Derek usually holds his own but not this time.

Posted by Riomouse911 on December 06, 2010 at 02:51 PM

DD ate a solid 20 blows, and based on the earlier CBJ antics in this game deserved every one of them. I no like PK either, but he won this hands (or fists) down. My fav part was watching the entire CBJ bench viewing the total dismantling of their agitator on the overhead.

Posted by legion31 on December 05, 2010 at 05:18 PM

kaleta seems john kordic with his left .......

Posted by staceyb on December 04, 2010 at 06:18 AM

Kaleta turned DD into a punching bag with that barrage of lefts.

Posted by hal29 on December 04, 2010 at 02:57 PM

Win goes to Kaleta. What happened to Dorsett he is usually is a tough gamer and can scrap but man he got his a$$ kicked by Kaleta of all people and got banged up for his troubles. I hat to say as I can't stand Kaleta but he pounded Dorsett like he was fighting a teenage girl. Fernben8 I would disagree with you Tie Domi never stopped his showboating he did it till the end of his career and did it the last fight against Probert when he beat him an made the actions of still having the belt. I highly doubt Messier told him to stop as Messier as great of a player was as dirty as they come. He had the most visous elbow in hockey,

Posted by sabrechuk on December 04, 2010 at 11:54 AM

Dorsett tried to to "help" Vanek take a seat on the bench, and Kaleta payed him back in a big way! Very nice.

Posted by Behn Wilson on December 04, 2010 at 12:14 AM

Kaleta, shockingly, punches through a series of rights, on his way to a total destruction of a, seemingly, over-rated Dorsett.

Posted by joeye4 on December 05, 2010 at 08:28 PM

Kaleta dominated despite a good try from Dorsett.

Posted by matt>go habs go on December 04, 2010 at 12:35 PM

ya kaleta won but what a goof after the fight...whats a matter kaleta, a little pumped you finally won a fight you cheap piece of shit...I hate this guy more than anyone in the league he is a gutless, cheapshootng turd who doesn't have the balls to drop them with someone his own size....would love to run into kaleta one of these days....

Posted by The Peach on December 03, 2010 at 11:22 PM

dorsett is a tough kid. he ate a half dozen jackhammers to the face and stayed up. kaleta with a destruction win, followed by a ridiculous showboat.

A real pounding from Kaleta and then him acting like a dick ,,,,,, how many Sabres have visors??? Do they wear slips under their sweaters, too

Posted by scorp1on on December 06, 2010 at 06:19 AM

Dorsett (early) made the mistake of ducking in and waiting for the flurry to end after he got tagged a couple times. Unfortunately for him... it didn't end. Like the announcer says - Dorsett was tying up the wrong arm.

Posted by Poop Jack Pappy on December 04, 2010 at 06:31 PM

Nice fight. I am surprised Dorsett was not K.O.'d. Kaleta with win

Posted by Sasky001 on December 04, 2010 at 12:16 AM

Glad an American beat the hell out of this embarrassment to the province of Saskatchewan. Please hang em up Dorsett, you are a doormat. The only thing that would have made this better is if Ethan Moreau got filled in later in the game.

Posted by tonydomi1 on December 04, 2010 at 10:03 AM

Kaleta just pummeled Dorsett! Got the left free and bombs away. Enough of the theatrics at the end of the fight though...

Posted by Truk on December 04, 2010 at 03:55 PM

Posted by FrankLexy on December 04, 2010 at 12:41 AM

This was a come up fight for Kaleta maybe now one of the better lightweights? but definitely one of the biggest jerkoffs

Posted by Patou708 on December 04, 2010 at 11:28 PM

Don't start me on Kaleta. Pure 100% backstabber fighter. He won on a loose skate fight from Dorsett. He should enjoy this moment because it won't happen again. He's a NHLSHAME

Posted by bigmike53 on January 03, 2015 at 02:31 AM

Kaleta is a great fighter for his size. Here he unloads a barrage of left hands on Dorsett and gets the easy win.

Posted by hockeyfighter20 on December 04, 2010 at 04:32 PM

Wow.. Kaleta should fight more.. he has done well when he has tried against opponents in his own weight class.. Dorsett is a decent fighter and Kaleta really took it too him left after left. Buffalo is not as soft as everybody thinks.. I also like cody mac

Posted by eadamson on December 13, 2010 at 02:46 PM

Wow. Dorsett got what he deserved pulling that bush league crap during a line change. Complete and utter domination by Kaleta.

i'll be the first one to say Kaletta is one of the biggest scum bags in the NHL, but he just flat out pummeled Dorsett. Even aside all of the one punch haymaker ending fights so far this year, this was one of the best displays of superiority. Domination by Kaletta. Great fight.

Posted by mightyquin on December 04, 2010 at 03:23 PM

Posted by Scouser on December 04, 2010 at 07:49 AM

Kaleta showed he had this kind of ability when he fought Asham a couple of seasons ago. This is definitely his best fight so far, the uppercut and left cross combo at the end were perfect. Not sure why Dorsett didn't get anything extra for checking a player leaving the ice though, at least he learned not to do it again!!

Posted by marty4pres on December 04, 2010 at 09:13 AM

Posted by Clifford1364 on December 04, 2010 at 02:18 AM

Dorsett is a good fighter. This had a lot to do with the fact that he was at the end of his shift, I think. Being a Sabres fan-I'm happy to give the win to Kaleta.

Posted by Sportaholic on December 04, 2010 at 01:11 PM

that was a flurry of lefts, but it could've gone longer if they hadn't been broken up by the refs when they were down on the ice.

Posted by AusTex on December 03, 2010 at 11:08 PM

All Kaleta... not much else to say about the fight. Although after the fight...

Posted by rule46 on December 04, 2010 at 03:43 PM

This is an example of why you don't piss-off professional hockey players. I don't think I've ever seen Kaleta take a cold, calculated approach to getting revenge before. Not only that... the result was beautiful, showing he could take a punch, throw some absolute bombs, and even hold his opponent up so he could continue his heavy bag work. Brilliant fight until he walks off like a tool.

Posted by NMBbob on December 04, 2010 at 10:33 AM

Kaleta's showboating after was just telling Columbus,"you started IT. I finished IT"-as long as it doesn't become the norm,i think it was no big deal- just a great whooping!!

Started out with three quick rights by Dorsett (who completely cheapshotted Vanek), but then Kaleta just takes command of the fight and the crowd. He also ended the fight by pushing Dorsett down; all those lefts wore him out.

Posted by DIRTYWATAH on December 03, 2010 at 11:04 PM

Dorsett should retire. That was embarassing.

One thought Derek: know whether he's a southpaw next time. I bet you won't forget. You should have known from your AHL days where he skinned you alive then.

Posted by b.t.wilson on December 03, 2010 at 10:52 PM

kaleta beats the absolute hell out of dorsett here, then acts like an absolute idiot after. wow what a fight though, that was kaleta saying i yam what i yam, hammering a can of spinach and pulverizing dorsett relentlessly. 9. great, great fight. really is a shame he had to be a peckerhead after though... yes, true, then again, i have no idea how pumped you'd be after doing that in front of thousands of your home fans...

Posted by bawhite on December 04, 2010 at 07:45 PM

Now that was a good ol' fashion hockey fight/ass kicking. I'm not a fan of either of the two but Kaleta kicked the crap out of Dorsett. I give it a 9 for sheer enjoyment purposes. Probably not the person he wanted to fight, but a win for Kaleta! Showboating? I have to disagree for this fight. From what I have witnessed of the game that was just a 'sit down and shut the f&@k up' directed to the Blue Jackets. Just my opinion though.

Posted by tattooedkingpin on December 04, 2010 at 07:38 PM

besides the showboating, that was a pretty amazing fight by Kaleta. Id love to see what the right side of Dorsett's face looks like today.

Kaleta finish him...Flawless victory...

Posted by Bluetiedown44 on December 04, 2010 at 01:22 PM

Dorsett gives a little shove to #42 Gerbe? from behind, Vanek tries to block him, so Dorsett is feeling good. Then Kaleta arrives and Dorsett gladly drops the gloves and lands several good blows. Kaleta pulls him away from 3 officials and beats the fire out of Dorsett with punishing lefts. I don't like the showboat but I didn't like the check at the gate either. Karma, probably made Montador smile through his swollen face.

Posted by k9cirros on December 04, 2010 at 12:21 AM

Ha, ha...a couple of haters here! Hard to swallow an ass kicking by Kaleta! Dorsett started good, but ended badly. Took so many lefts, I think he actually asked Kaleta for a right! HA, HA, HA, HA!!

wow, Pat Kaleta just unloads on Dorsett. obviously win Kaleta.

Posted by StoneTheWeak on December 04, 2010 at 03:04 AM

Outstanding fight. Kaleta pounded him down, and the dust off at the end made it even better. People can whine about showboating, but if you just handed some dude the beating of his life in front of thousands of fans, in the same city you grew up in, watching the same team you play for, I'd find it hard pressed for you not to act afool too.

Posted by pvdrummer2000 on February 14, 2013 at 05:18 PM

fight of the year

Posted by slshbleed on December 04, 2010 at 01:21 AM

The showboating stems from the two cheap shots by the Jackets. Kaleta was on the receiving end of one of the cheap shots. If he showboated every time, it would be different. Its rare to get this kind of revenge for a cheap shot let alone twice in one game with McCormick getting revenge as well. I like Kaleta trying to pull the guy up off the ice to get more shots in.

Posted by country2hvymeta on December 05, 2010 at 11:54 PM

How can you people call kaleta cheap for "going after a guy who is at the end of his shift" ?? Do you think everyone has their time on ice numbers floating over their heads? like as if kaleta knows exactly who is out there tired. No he went after the guy who was starting shit with vanek, plain and simple. And by the way since apparently no other player in the league "show boats" (including d-bag chris neil) after a TKO why dont you try playing for your hometown hockey team in the nhl on home ice in a chippy period and woop someones ass and not do anything like what kaleta did. He had every right (or lefts in this case haha)

Posted by Cangelosi on December 03, 2010 at 11:31 PM

Haven't seen a beating of that magnitude in quite some time.... Kaleta- 2 wins in one week? This guy is suddenly scary! Carved him up

Posted by teejay on December 04, 2010 at 05:57 PM

Normally I don't like the antics Kaleta showed post fight. BUT considering the douche he just clobbered I'm loving it.. I love the look of shock on the Jacket bench.... That was priceless... For those saying Kaleta pulled a douchey move by fighting a player after his shift was ending, go screw yourselves... This is exactly what this league needs to clean itself up with.. Dorsett is a tool that goes around taking cheap shots, yapping and goating players into penalties. Kaleta was policing the game, end of story...

Posted by Double Nickels on December 03, 2010 at 11:52 PM

Posted by KnuckleCityKid on December 03, 2010 at 11:15 PM

I dont know what the big deal is, if he wants to celebrate his victory, more power to him. Pat just pummeld that dude sensless. Do you expect him to humbley skate to the box, sit down, and pull out his copy of the bible and read quietly? No way man, home crowd going crazy, loud as hell and Kaleta wipes his hands clean like a champ. And believe me, the days of barnaby and the razor were way less humble than pat. His best fight yet, and only going to get meaner.

Posted by DCUnit811 on December 03, 2010 at 11:25 PM

If you were to go into the dictionary and look up the word, "Man-Handled", for the first time ever, the dictionary would give you a link to this page. Kaleta absolutely embarrassed Dorsett.

Posted by ptatu5 on December 04, 2010 at 02:53 AM

Kaleta only did all the "showboating" cause of the commadore hit and the hit on stafford...hes standing up for his teammates and himself anyone would do the same thing to show the sabres aren't to be messed with.

Posted by TheAvatarofSet on December 04, 2010 at 05:40 PM

How in the world could ANYONE actually say that fight went to Dorsett or was a draw? It can possibly only be a bitter Columbus Blue Jackets fan. Sure, Dorsett got a few decent punches in but, all in all, the fight was one of the most lopsided I've watched ever. I didn't even know Kaleta had it in him, but that was one heck of a fast left hand which he pummeled Dorsett with.

Posted by MuseLuver on June 02, 2011 at 10:59 AM

Posted by BritishRedWing on December 04, 2010 at 03:14 PM

I'll give Kaleta the win, but this guy is a feckin douchebag. Nothing will happen in the new NHL, but if a little pansy like that dusted his hands off after a fight years ago, he would be dealt with, post haste. I hope this little cnut gets his head bashed in, and soon.

Posted by kmak on December 04, 2010 at 08:41 AM

its not the days of May, Barnaby and Ray but the Sabres have something to cheer about as the won most of the fights tonight,

Posted by dorian on December 04, 2010 at 11:28 AM

OK, obvious win by Kaleta. I have a couple issues though: 1) upon reading the fight description, I thought maybe Dorsett was dead; on the contrary, he appears to have suffered not at all 2) Kaleta's showboating, or anyone's for that matter, is minor league stuff

Wow. That was just plain abuse. Dorsett needs to call his mom and have her come pick him up at the rink, because he's going to get hurt doing this. Dorsett ate a bunch of good lefts. Beatdown win for Kaleta.

Beat down just dose not do that justice.

I didn't know that puke Kaleta could actually fight. He whupped the ginger. Toronto is now going to offer two lottery picks and Kaberle for him

Dorsett = the human punching bag - Kaleta still = A-hole

Posted by goon10 on December 04, 2010 at 09:50 AM

All you gotta do is skate to the box, Kaleta. Skate to the box and you're forever known as the kid who threw those awesome jackhammer lefts. But now you're known as a showboating weasel and everybody is waiting patiently to see you get your ass kicked down the line. What a bad, bad move.

Good stuff. Kaleta is no Ruutuu but a tricky fighter. One of my best pals lives there and they are miserable with sports. Sabers and bills are awful. This gives them something to cheer about. Still hate Kaleta as does everyone else.

Wow, Kaleta opened a can, that's for sure. Dorsett took a shitload of lefts.

Posted by JCalvin on December 04, 2010 at 10:12 AM

Kaleta just dominated. That showboating wasn't uncalled for, it was deserved and ask for.

Posted by LilHockeyGirl on December 06, 2010 at 09:23 PM

Kaleta won this without a doubt. And he seems to know it...

Posted by DocGomer on December 03, 2010 at 11:20 PM

Def win for Pat, but the flurry of quick punches didnt look like it left Dorsett too hurt which leads me to believe, though he dominated, he didnt land most of them, or they were to quick to be real bombs. Good show though.

Posted by FHgrad99 on December 04, 2010 at 01:16 AM

It looked like it was going to be a slugfest for the first few punches and then Kaleta turned it into a one man slugfest on Dorsett's noggin. Kaleta gave Dorsett quite a beating in this one.

As much as I despise Kaleta (I no longer follow the Sabres because of him), I have to admit that he dominated the fight. Actions afterward were typical of Kaleta.

Loved it... great fight! As for the showboating, I would imagine he had so much adrenaline pumping at the time he didn't know what the hell he was doing haha... good for him! Gave this fight a 9, and domination ha.

Kaleta absolutely pounds Dorsett's face in. Not even close. Domination.

Posted by Zarley Z on December 05, 2010 at 03:25 PM

Has Dorsett ever won a fight?

Posted by ccmathelete on December 03, 2010 at 11:10 PM

They said it, "Dorsett didn't know Kaleta was a Southpaw." That threw him off right from the start, and there was nothing he could do about it.

Absolute beatdown. I can see why some people were upset by Kaleta's antics after the fight, but you know, it's good to show off for your home crowd sometimes. Get them into the game, let's not turn into the NFL here.

what a fight and loved the reaction.

Posted by barnibizer on December 04, 2010 at 08:00 AM

About time all the Kaleta bashes shut up. Too many on this site decide they dont like players because they throw big hits against there own. Kaleta is a tough kid. Secondly, people always forget how many Dorsett just took and didnt turtle or drop to a knee. He's a toughen' also despite the pasting. Grt fight, and about time we saw the Sabres step up and get nasty...tough days of old still a distant memory. Dorestt could be the next Barnaby!!

Posted by T-Wild76 on December 04, 2010 at 01:34 AM

I absolutely loved this fight...Kaleta went crazy on Dorsett and I didn't mind the show-boating after at all...that's what he's out there to do get under the there skin and if anyone on the other team doesn't like it...try fighting him, you'll get a penalty or you might get your ass kicked

Posted by Boogeyman2383 on December 04, 2010 at 10:37 AM

Dorsett with three early rights, then it was all Patrick Kaleta...

Posted by brianamoro on December 04, 2010 at 10:30 AM

it has to suck to get your ass handed to you by a total douche bag like Kaleta. lmao he killed dorsett

Posted by muskokadangler on December 05, 2010 at 10:33 AM

I couldn't do anything but LAUGH outloud really really hard Holy mother of god did he get WORKED!!!!! :) b.t. wilson I agree I have no idea either but I bet I'd be priity pumped too!!!! That was a work of f#cking art!!!!!!!!

Showboat Kaleta over powers Dorsett with his left for the Win. I also remember the story of when Tie Domi first came into the league and would showboat after his fights. Captain Mark Messier pulled him aside and firmly told him to cut that Fu*#in Sh*t out if he wanted RESPECT around the league...and he did, to a memorable career. Someone in the Sabres organization should have a talk with Kaleta...!
