Gillies decides to step up, and face a real heavy.

he fought a cautious brawl,
but got tagged about three to one on quality shots, throughout.
Win Carkner, despite the bloody ear.

Draw, but not sure how Carkner got split open?

First thing I noticed was how tough Neil was acting with Carkner by his side.
Carkner tried to throw more but only effective in landing as much as Gillies did. A close fight.
Will give the edge to Gillies for rag dolling Carkner.
Since the fighters are not in a position to use 'universal precautions'..thinking the refs should break the fight up asap when there's a moderate presence of blood.
Perhaps the fighters can incorporate it within their code ? Just a thought.

very nice fight, don't know how you get your ear opened up like that, but its got to hurt. gillies fights carkner after ruutu pulls his cory routine, and does quite well. calling it a draw myself but i couldn't care if anyone voted it either other way. 7.

thats a win for carkner...despite the bloody ear he landed more and harder punches..........gillies gets the "Best Stache Award" though

It look like Carkner landed more to me, i don't see how 46% of the people picked Gillies with the win.

A) Ruutu is a piece of Sh!t with a capital S. Way to go there, you Finnish tough guy! Maybe slap a toddler or kick a kitten next time, it's more manly.

B) Carkner and Neil were out to start something, Ottawa was flat. Carkner got a good cut from the lefts that mooshed his ear. Gillies gave him a wink after the fight and went to the box, Carkner off to the locker room for body work.

10-9 Gillies.

Draw. Carkner was a bit busier and a bit stronger for most of the fight...when he tuckered out Gillies was able to manhandle him a bit.
