Funny nobody seemed to notice the pussy in the red sweater kept his helmet and face shield on.

Posted by smwarpig63 on December 27, 2008 at 11:32 AM

Smart move by Richards not to fight once his helmet came off.

Posted by beantown on December 28, 2008 at 04:05 PM

nice visor. pussy

Brouwer with the obvious win. Richards candy @$$ didn't even fight back really.

Posted by BSTnougat on December 29, 2008 at 07:23 PM

Utter disappointment for Mikey. He wanted no part in that fight anymore after that uppercut. Piss poor showing from our Captain. That being said, he's still the man and if that fight was captain vs. captain Toews would be out for a month haha.

Posted by Gunslinger on December 27, 2008 at 09:03 AM

Not Philly's night. Both have visors so that evens out. Brouwer landed some good ones and Richards never did a thing. Better luck next time boys!

Posted by iraqvet on December 27, 2008 at 01:11 PM

Win by Brouwer, next time take off your shield.

Posted by digitalroc on December 28, 2008 at 09:16 PM

Brouwer buckled Richards knees with that one shot. Winner Brouwer.

Posted by bruiseyoureye on December 27, 2008 at 04:19 PM

brouwer with the clear win here.....nice uppercut by brouwer.....nice to see richards get his ass kicked......i always love to see that

Posted by Hawkman332 on December 27, 2008 at 10:41 AM

You guys crack me up. Richards did ok in this fight? Seriously? DId you see the uppercut he ate? Some people voted this fight for Richards or a draw? How can it be a draw when Richards obviously quit? And the whole visor thing, yeah, shame on both of them for leaving them on. Unfortunately for Richards, Brouwer was able to rip his off before rocking his world with the uppercut. Not a great fight but Brouwer wins.

Posted by Dell on December 29, 2008 at 09:56 PM

Brouwer with a nice upper cut in particular.

Once again, BattleASS shows the typical lack of respect for anyone other than a Pittsburgh P*ssy. I'd like to get my hands on him, (hell, maybe it's a her), and he/she can leave the visor on. What the hell, wear a football helmet..... As for Richards being yappy, PLEASE don't be from P'burgh and actually type that. With 87 in black and gold you have no room to talk..... Crosby may actually be a bigger whiner than 66 was.....

Posted by chl37 on December 29, 2008 at 08:00 AM

richards slashes to start the fight, looses the protective visor, get rocked, and stops. no mas. funny to hear the flyer homercast credit richards for not throwing any more punches cause he might hurt his hand on brouwers visor. what a joke, if that was a concern why did he start the fight to begin with. he only quit cause he ate a few real good punches.

Brouwer with the dubya for the uppy.

Posted by oilersfansylvan on December 27, 2008 at 07:06 PM

Things were going great till the uppercut......

Posted by tattooedkingpin on December 27, 2008 at 11:28 AM

Nice shot landed by Brouwer. Gets the Nod.

Posted by staceyb on December 27, 2008 at 05:06 AM

Sniff...where have you gone, Bobby Clarke? In the BSB days Brouwer would have been jumped on by two or three Flyers for beating up the team captain. Brouwer really nailed Richards with a solid right.

Posted by oaktoad on December 29, 2008 at 11:34 PM

ouch, but Richards gets some cred for not going down

Posted by Shredder1976 on December 27, 2008 at 10:31 AM

Richards will fight anybody in the NHL!! It is very sad so many fans hate Philly!! Just like the Yankees eh!!! Patty Cake B**** Sharp Should have dropped the gloves!!! Oh and by the way a real winter classic would have been Philly Vs [email protected] Penn State U!!!! The battle of PA!!! NHL would have banked $$$$$$$$$$$. Hockeyfights would have been loaded w/ great bouts!!!!

Posted by adambomb13 on December 27, 2008 at 02:53 PM

Even if Brouwer did take his visor off, Richards would have still gotten smoked. Nice slash by Bitchards to start the whole thing. I'd love to see a rematch with helmets off. Next time you play the Hawks, bring a game. Typical Philly game, we're getting our asses kicked so lets start some fights. Maybe Philly can recall Schultz, Kelly, Dupont, Houda and some other real players from long ago to replace these creampuffs that are in the Philly lineup apart from Riley Cote.

Posted by Big Little Tank on December 27, 2008 at 04:11 PM

Man, I just finished watching the Stortini vs Brown fight and same bloody thing. Hockey players being babies and not taking good clean hits. Man. I say Brouwer for not only setting Richards pouting in place, but giving him a good shot to the melon. Like I said, I love hockey fights, did it in junior and High school, but we all knew our role. Players these days just seem to retaliate for no real reason other than what appears to be the attitude of, "I am he, you touch me."

Posted by blackgoldfan on December 27, 2008 at 01:02 PM

Brouwer rocks richards twice. once with a good hit, and second with that wicked right. that transilates to me into 2 "W"s!

Posted by slats23 on December 27, 2008 at 12:34 PM

Richards shouldn't have to do this stuff. Cote, Asham and Gratton should be held accountable if the "Franchise Player" breaks his hand fighting. If he's going to fight, he should pick the Toews of the world. Love his leadership though.

Posted by flyerfighter73 on December 27, 2008 at 12:33 PM

The uppercut by Brouwer ended this scrap fast. Richards is a game fighter and leader for our Flyers but this wasn't his night.

Posted by Riley32 on December 27, 2008 at 04:13 AM

what an uppercut

Posted by kimocoyote on December 27, 2008 at 12:53 AM

Brouwer winner. Richard "kudos" for Captain stepping up. Get some ice for that jaw.

Posted by cmshort11 on December 28, 2008 at 11:41 PM

Richards got owned. who the hell voted for Richards?

Posted by P.C.M. on December 27, 2008 at 09:20 PM

Nice uppercut by Brouwer.

Posted by Crowdpleezr on December 28, 2008 at 10:41 PM

Nice uppercut.

Posted by sabersfan4life on December 27, 2008 at 12:13 PM

good hard upper cut from Brouwer.Richards should of left that fight alone

Posted by Tvm950 on December 28, 2008 at 01:38 PM

Richards was punching at the glass after the uppercut

Posted by probiehawk24 on December 27, 2008 at 09:00 AM

Aaawww, did Richards hurt himself? Typical fight by Richards, Flyers get there ass kicked so he loses a fight for the poor effort. Big uppercut by Brouwer and Mike's face will be sore for awhile. Detroit, the Hawks are coming for you. Be ready

Posted by followthecode on December 27, 2008 at 12:59 PM

It's nice to see Richards willing to fight, but he is not paid to drop the gloves. I hope Cote and Gratton talked to him about that on the bench after seeing their captain have his bell rung. Stick to the shorthanded goals Mike!

Posted by MajorGroove on December 27, 2008 at 03:48 AM

Nice grit from Richards but come on, let Cote, or Asham, or Gratton talk with the fists....Brouwer rocked him!

Posted by nsh03 on December 27, 2008 at 03:46 AM

Sick again: Funny how you didn't noticde that Richards, who also wears a visor, started that fight with his helmet on and Brouwer had to rip it off. No excuses, big win for Brouwer.

Posted by slshbleed on December 27, 2008 at 08:09 AM

If it weren't for Biron, this game would have been about 12-1. Behind by 4, Richards slashes Brouwer. I don't think Brouwer was thinking about his visor at that point.

Posted by dropkick25 on December 28, 2008 at 09:09 PM

Not much besides that solid uppercut to the mush that ended this one.Brouwer looked like he eased up or Richards told him enough I'm out on my feet.

Posted by BooSanta on December 28, 2008 at 02:52 PM

Brouwer controlled the whole time and Rung the bell with the uppercut on Richards. Many compare Richards to Iginla for toughness, leadership and scoring ability. This was not a good example of that comparison. Richards gave away considerable size and strength. Fans will like to see more of Brouwer on the Fight log. The fight really started after a good board crunching check from Brouwer on Richards. Usually Richards will take the shield off prompting the opponent to do the same but it didn't happen here.

Posted by scooterwest on December 28, 2008 at 03:40 PM

I am a hawks fan but come on. If you can take the visor off for the fans after the fight, be a man and take it off before the fight!

Posted by powerball on December 28, 2008 at 08:45 AM

even though being a pens fan, i hope cote took umbrage with this attack on his captain.

Posted by b.t.wilson on December 26, 2008 at 11:40 PM

I really like Richards and the way he plays, he has Iginla kind of leadership potential, but this fight he definiely gets rocked.

Posted by Blackhawk23 on December 26, 2008 at 11:57 PM

Brouwer wins! I love Mike Richards though I have watched him sense he played for Kitchener Rangers and he was great then I couldnt believe he fell to the flyers that low in the draft that guy is a pure winner and everything a hockey player should be, but he shouldnt be messing with my Hawks. Brouwer is gonna be good he gets overshadowed by all the other young guys but he is a top six power forward for sure, plus he can fight.

Posted by bruins rule on December 27, 2008 at 07:13 AM

brouwer with the win in this fight.

Posted by on December 27, 2008 at 01:24 AM

Brouwer uppercut. Richards quits. Period.

Posted by eagle16 on December 27, 2008 at 02:17 PM

Richards didn't really land anything. I have to give this one to Brouwer.

Posted by Patzilla on December 26, 2008 at 11:34 PM

HOLY S$#T that upper cut made richards see stars, If you dont think Brouwer didnt win your a moron. This was so one sided its not even funny.

Posted by chelios7 on April 04, 2009 at 02:51 AM

I liked the richards got beaten up lol

Posted by pens08 on December 28, 2008 at 04:31 AM

brouwer with the win with a big uppercut. so if brouwer is a b*tch for fighting with a visor what does that make richards? he wears a visor and he started the fight and lost his helmet because brouwer ripped it off. friggin morons

Posted by TIRE TIM on December 27, 2008 at 11:37 AM

clear win wish we would see more uppercuts

Posted by TomC8481 on March 12, 2009 at 07:54 PM

That was a sick uppercut by Brouwer, I love how Richards keeps his head up - and away - after it. Definite win by Brouwer, too bad the refs stepped in...

Posted by jaacanuck on January 20, 2009 at 12:12 AM

The bullies got bullied! To slshbleed: Agree about Biron. Flyers totally outmatched in this one.

Posted by CHICAGO39 on November 05, 2009 at 06:41 PM

Brouwer is a beast whoever voted for Richards is a tool bag

Posted by xrichardsx18 on December 27, 2008 at 08:55 PM

strange brew, very good point

Posted by paddyd on December 28, 2008 at 10:50 AM

Richards yapping mouth finally got shut. He was out on his feet and in lala land. The "C" does not grant you special privdlages.

Posted by mcb789 on December 26, 2008 at 11:57 PM

richards is to good of a player to be fighting. he did ok in this fight.

Posted by bigblockn3rdgen on December 29, 2008 at 02:10 AM

If Richards was a candy @$$ he wouldnt be fighting in the first place you stupid @$$holes.

Posted by drahcir61 on January 01, 2009 at 12:38 PM

This really wasn't worth commenting on. New Rule - it can't be called a fight when only one guy is throwing punches!!! New Rule #2 - if you're not going to throw punches, don't drop your gloves! Looked like Richards didn't want to break a finger nail. Geez that was lame.

Posted by chad420 on December 28, 2008 at 09:05 PM

chi-town with a full beatdown of phillie

Posted by thebassmaster on December 27, 2008 at 12:00 AM

i love richards, but definite win for brouwer

Posted by Thoragh on December 27, 2008 at 12:17 AM

decent check before the fight led to a beauty of an uppercut during the fight too bad both went against Philly, no saving face here.

Posted by Strange Brew on December 27, 2008 at 08:28 PM

First off I think Richards is a pretty damn good player and when he does fight he usually gives better than he gets. On this night, he got cleaned. Now that being said, if Richards played for any other team, no one would be bashing him. On the contrary. People would be bitching about Brouwer not getting rid of the visor and saying what a punk he was for fighting with one, blah, blah, blah. Here's a radical idea: maybe we should cast votes based on what actually happens in the fight as opposed to who we like or dislike.

Posted by poopies on December 26, 2008 at 11:56 PM

Always happy to see Richards eat a punch.

Posted by preds321 on December 27, 2008 at 01:17 PM

that uppercut did the trick

Posted by LBChockey on December 27, 2008 at 07:03 PM

Richards lost but he didn't go down.

Posted by jcstokes on December 29, 2008 at 12:55 PM

Richards gets popped good in this one. Visors didn't matter in this one. Big win for Brouwer.

Posted by tim daddy on December 27, 2008 at 10:52 AM

pretty clear win for brouwer

Posted by LordKOTL on December 27, 2008 at 05:10 PM

Brouwer lands an uppercut that not only had to be prefaced with "Shoryu-ken!", but after that lands a "hulk-smash!" esque hit that made Richards look like Rick James at the hands of Charlie Murphy. Domination by Brouwer.

Posted by chelios247 on December 28, 2008 at 05:10 PM

Richards is a throw back to the original fliers [email protected] Bobby Clark.
