I'm so sick of seeing Laraque fight. He's probably one of the crappiest fighters in the league. All he ever does is try for the take down. It's a boring fighting style. I think he's afraid.

Posted by aaronious on February 15, 2008 at 09:39 AM

Another lame BGL fight.

Posted by mm1160 on February 15, 2008 at 07:48 AM

same old stuff from thee supposed great one, Laraque

Posted by Lucy Brown on February 15, 2008 at 02:42 PM

Pretty bad fight. I cant see how any you give this to BGL. Why? because Brookbank didnt get any punches in. The nuggies to the back of Brookbanks head count as a win? PLEASE take you heads out of your arse's folks. CRAP FIGHT! End of story.

Posted by themtrain on February 16, 2008 at 04:19 AM

Laraque punches like he's knocking on a door. He swings overhand like a woman. At least he threw some punches though. He gets the win, mainly because Brookbank can't skate. Laraque is one boring wrestler. Fighter. Whatever.

Posted by Pickle2728 on February 15, 2008 at 11:42 AM

Boooring! Good thing I didn't pay for that. Geez. DRAW at best.

Posted by mikebflorida on February 15, 2008 at 09:38 AM

Draw in a crappy short fight. A typical Laraque fight. He quickly overwhelms the opponent but certainly not by punches. Those little rabbit punches are meaningless. Laraque is soooo boring to watch, he even looks bored.

Posted by dukeofearle on February 18, 2008 at 09:35 AM

Why do Laraque fights always hit the deck early? Laraque gets the win in a very weak fight.

Posted by pogo619 on February 15, 2008 at 02:45 PM

There you go, more proof that all Big Dumb Laraque does is weigh you down. Wow, he threw 5 punches to the back of Brookbank's helmet....That makes him a the toughest guy in the league???? Not in my estimation. Give me Brashear, Parros, even Orr over this lunkhead... Hey battleaxe13 you win your agrument all because BDL out weighs most of his opponents. Who has he ever really beaten. Not fallen on, not wresteled with but beaten fair and square. Don't give me Rielly Cote or any other middle weight. I'm talking heavyweight... there isn't one....

Posted by FlyersDosage on February 15, 2008 at 07:11 AM

not much...2 strong dudes!

Posted by Wildfan01 on February 15, 2008 at 11:30 AM

Georges wins agin whoo hooo. Still such a boring fighter even when he is landing his rapid fire weak punches.

Posted by suckerpunch on February 15, 2008 at 11:10 AM

Lame yes... but it wasn't Laraque doing the hugging. Brookbank looked like he wanted no more of George after feeling a couple of left hammers.... W BGL

Posted by Rang99 on February 15, 2008 at 07:17 AM

Another Laraque wrestling match

Posted by trpaulson on February 16, 2008 at 06:49 PM

George wins. Crap fight. You expect better out of two guys like these.

Posted by mikerrobes on February 15, 2008 at 08:35 PM

crap fight

Posted by vuggieri on February 16, 2008 at 12:58 AM

i cant fuckin stand laraque.... tough guy but so god damn boring to watch.... i like seeing guys fight when they are pissed off not cuase they are garbage hockey players and thats all they can doo

Posted by billy jack on February 15, 2008 at 03:48 PM

i dont even care to see big steroid goege fight,he fires those rapid little taps, and then falls down,he does not rank up there with the best,he fights for show,he doesnt fight with spirit grit or detrmination, hes not a scrapper hes a body builder big enough to make millionis doing his boring act.he doesnt even want to hurt his hand which would not allow him to body build so he throws 20 left handed rabbit punches then slips to the ice before the other guy can land a money shot, all you that slober over steroid goerge, show me his heart,he has the heart of a hare.

Posted by BigPapa08 on February 15, 2008 at 06:06 PM

I sit on the fence in regards to Big Georges, not for him or against but Brookbank who tries to pass himself off as a true heavy wanted nothing to do with Laraque. Cant blame BGL for this lame fight.

Posted by Sam1410 on February 15, 2008 at 04:36 PM

Lousy fight but how can you call a fight a draw when Brookbank didn't throw one punch? Win for BGL but pretty boring stuff. I will say to all the guys trashing Laraque - he can't produce a good fight if the other guy won't stop holding on. At least he was throwing punches in this fight, it was just that Brookbank wanted no part of him.

Posted by kfourni on April 26, 2009 at 02:05 AM

close but BGL gets some nice lefts into it

Posted by slav on February 15, 2008 at 07:01 AM

This was over as soon as Brookbank ducked and skated toward Laraque. What the hell was that?!? All Laraque from start to finish...

Posted by SirYohans on February 15, 2008 at 01:30 PM

Win Laraque! Brookbank looked scared from the get go & didn't have a chance because of his approach. I honestly don't know why fighters usually have this defensive approach against him. He rarely throws haymakers that can drop somebody. You're never gonna beat him like this.

Posted by pitslam on February 15, 2008 at 05:55 PM

I give Laraque the win but all you BGL lovers please educate yourself Larauge only throws when he has an advantage other than that he looses all honor and wrestles . When did we think that a take down wins a fight it just keeps him from taking a punch and proving he has any manlyhood. Look at youtube for Larague and Tony Twist and you will see why he went to spinning and hugging. A good fighter can fight and BGL is a great wrestler not a fighter.

Posted by crazybearfan on February 15, 2008 at 10:36 AM

BGL is no question a sick beast with strength....but his skills to produce a great fight seem to lack. I'm not saying that he's not a good fighter. I'm just saying he's not a exciting fighter. It's like the difference of excitment that you get between Tim Sylvia and Chuck Liddell in the UFC. They're both great fighters but Chuck is definetly more exciting.

Posted by bigpucks on February 15, 2008 at 04:42 PM

Rock always wins first 80% of fight lets lets up to make it look like opponent had chance. Eager seems to be only one he is willing to put in a hospital. Rock is so strong he hurts people (Brind D amour) with a little bump. Rock is old school and has more class than the new era punks, cheap shot artists and energy guys.

Posted by Juha82 on June 30, 2008 at 01:09 PM

SLIGHT WIN to Laraque but there wasn't much of a fight. BB took Laraque down as he gets up.

Posted by Santokh_Gill on February 15, 2008 at 02:01 PM

B.G.L does it again !....WHY THE HECK DID WE TRADE HIM FOR ?

Posted by thegreg on February 15, 2008 at 06:51 PM

what's the difference between this and the ivanans fight? and you call that one a close fight

Posted by bluto1313 on February 15, 2008 at 03:21 PM

Talk all the shit you want, if your team traded for the big man you would no doubt change your tune. I would love to see him get mad one time just to shut you turds up! ain't seen his ass kicked yet and huggin Donnie is a joke. Too bad Philly unloaded that pig Eager cause I think the big man wants him bad. I'm sure he will have an excuse not to play when we play the hawks some day. The only thing the big guy lacks is a mean streak. philly losers since 75

Posted by Leafs2006 on February 16, 2008 at 01:54 PM

I agree Battleaxe, a lot of BGL haters, well because, Big George is the King, no one can touch him. Weak punches WildFan? You stand in front of his punches. Another win by Big George. Who voted for Brookbank? His mother?

Posted by BooSanta on February 15, 2008 at 03:23 PM

Brookbank loses his helmet, then watch the headlock takedown. The Bank bounces his exposed forehead off the ice. Not sure how he didn't get cut. When in Carolina I usually don't get lower level seats but there was no blood no cuts and this replay didn't show any cuts either. But that headbutt to the ice would have decided this fight if BGL didn't throw those lefts. Bank is also a grabber but at least somebody threw punches this time. The "good luck" bit was actually referring to a Laraques last fight this past week when there was a mic eavesdropping on his pre fight conversations. Incidentally Rod Brindamour emerged from a sandwich check involving BGL with a ripped up ACL. He is done for the year.

Posted by dumby on February 15, 2008 at 11:02 AM

when somebody beats him we'll have a discussion...

Posted by basil73 on February 15, 2008 at 11:28 PM

Sucks to admit but BGL is not the dominating force he used to be for a long time. This year his fights are more disappointing then exciting. Or may be because he set the mark so high. Either way, he wins this one but only by being more active and without really connecting. I guess a lot of fighters get intimidated by his legacy and just try to hold on for their dear life...Win for the haitian boy...

Posted by darkstorm1994 on February 15, 2008 at 10:58 AM

it looks like brookbank was done before it even started. did he even throw a punch? bgl threw a few then they fell and went to wrestling. not much of a fight. bgl gets the decision for trying though.

Posted by Ragtop1day on February 15, 2008 at 09:53 PM

not much go, gotta wonder why they bothered...

Posted by Frankie jr on February 15, 2008 at 07:13 AM

Big George won again Brookbank really didnt do much thats why he grabbed him and gave him a headlock. no chance for that chump Brookbank case close.

Posted by Macktownknights on February 15, 2008 at 02:42 PM

YEA BGL another dominating win, can he be stopped?

Posted by QUIGGS22 on February 15, 2008 at 08:15 AM

ho-hum

Posted by togogom on February 16, 2008 at 10:28 AM

Laraque is definately the best on that league!!! These guys want drop but not fight with him, his punchs are too hard!!! they prefered to get on knees and stay down to stop the fight

Posted by Xeshybrid on February 15, 2008 at 01:14 PM

Score another win for laraque.

Posted by UKhockeyFan on February 15, 2008 at 10:40 AM

All those people moaning it was a wrestling match...BGL wasn't the one holding in close. Brookbank was. Everyone hates george because he is so good at fighting. Stop making excuses as to why you hate him and be honest, its because he can kick your ass and you know it. it's amusing that anyone would vote that fight a draw...surely for it to have been a draw brookbank had to have landed some punches? he's didn't even throw any.

Posted by averybear on April 08, 2008 at 10:22 PM

BGL wins another lame one....boring

Posted by bostonrs555 on February 15, 2008 at 10:43 PM

Thats why you hit some one when they're down folks, Brooks tries to slam Laraque's face into the ice because he was TOO NICE!!!!!!!!! Look dudes I understand the respect factor, I think you don't hit a guy when he's down and his head is near the ice, when he's on a knee.... give him the wrath George!!!! W to Laraque...though they should have been scraping Brooks off the ice...

Posted by ibled4theusa on February 15, 2008 at 02:22 PM

Not the best but I wonder if Brookbank wacked his head on the ice. P.S. I can't understand everyone having comments about other members comments prior to their intial posts. I find it interesting reading after I submit. This time I will comment in an ammendment. I would love to see any of you Laraque haters go up and say your crap to his face. It is guys like him who carry on the great CODE that makes fighting in the NHL so big a part of the game. I will watch the worst BGL fight with more enthusiasm than all the Euro cheapshots that are pervasive in games that lack the quote "goons". Laraque may seem to lack that snarl at the start, but get a good shot on him and he will definitely turn up the ferocity and not back off.

Posted by Flyersfan4life2 on February 15, 2008 at 09:14 AM

Laraque does so class when he fights. I hate him for the hit he put on steve downie and how he showed little class after the game. But i will admit he does show class when he fights. He always gives the other guy a chance to get back up if he slips and he wishes them luck before they go. People can say all they want about laraque, but he is the heavyweight champ. you have to fight him to become a true heavy. Thats respect!

Posted by TheBomb413 on February 15, 2008 at 09:16 AM

Come on Brookbank I know Georges is intimidating but if your going to fight him atleast try to throw a punch. Win for Laraque. I agree with BattleAxe, the Laraque hating is pathetic. I didn't see Laraque wrestle Brookbank at all. Maybe its a color thing, or maybe its just jealousy. I don't know what their reasons are but its very annoying.

Posted by seanw on February 15, 2008 at 08:09 AM

brookbank didnt throw one punch. easy win for bgl!

Posted by mike598 on February 19, 2008 at 12:43 AM

I gave it to Laraque. Nothing special as fights go.

Posted by BattleAxe13 on February 15, 2008 at 09:02 AM

Hey BGL haters, it wasn't Laraque doing the wrestling. Open your damn eyes. Laraque threw punches, Brookbank didn't. This Laraque hating is getting rather pathetic. Laraque even gave the guy a chance to get up but all Brookbank did was hug and headlock. Win for Georges, and another whiney day from the Laraque haters. Waaaa Waaaaa Georges is so good Waaaaaaaaa!

Posted by jbart321 on February 18, 2008 at 09:39 AM

Why is it that everyone wants to tackle Laraque now? Just fight him. Laraque wins this one cause he is the only one that wanted to fight and not hug.

Posted by Joe Mack on February 15, 2008 at 09:29 PM

i counted laraque as landing 8 punches and brookebank landing none. to call it a draw or to say that brookbank won is just stupid. you are either retarded or a laraque hater. one in the same, i guess.

Posted by Luque1 on February 15, 2008 at 06:46 AM

Brookbank could hardly resist to the Laraque´s strong punches, but regard to him he didn´t want to give up the bout till the end.

Posted by Big Violence on February 15, 2008 at 02:46 PM

brookbank got housed. he should know that if you go in with your head down against BGL, it's gonna get punched. easy win for BGL.

Posted by johnnystudly on February 16, 2008 at 02:04 AM

BGL won easily. For those haters who say that he just do his rabbit punching has no power, then ask Grimson why he had to retire with a concussion after his last fight with BGL. Grimson was one of the toughest to ever play in the NHL. Laraque then phoned him to apologize for ending his career even though it was his job. Quit hating and give him the respect he had earned. The reason his fight is not as exciting is because it is one sided. not his fault if he is that much tougher. As for the guy who commented on his fight with Tony Twist. laraque was 19 and Twist was the champ then. It was still a close fight. Tell me if you can bring in any 19 yrs old heavy now that can say the same if he goes up against George. Know your info bro.

Posted by Tso xThe Hammer on February 15, 2008 at 06:57 PM

pretty good fight, brookbank had a good effort against laraque, but laraque is an oldschool fighter and hes a stronger fighter

Posted by narinsvy on February 15, 2008 at 09:57 PM

no contest, but not much of a fight and bgl seems to make a short fight from almost every fighter, gess that's why he's the champ

Posted by Brandoo on February 15, 2008 at 01:16 PM

laraque is boring to watch , well then stop watching his fights..........look at all his records he is the best damn fighter in the legue, meanless shots shut up and get out there yourself and fight him you *****

Posted by dromano13 on February 17, 2008 at 04:37 PM

BGL is everything that is wrong with hockey! I will never vote for such a disgusting piece of humanity! The best part of him fripped down his fathers leg!

Posted by Bagratid on February 16, 2008 at 04:44 AM

Finally a good fight by Laraque. Pity Brookbank only wanted to spoon with BGL. Win Laraque

Posted by perezj on February 15, 2008 at 08:58 AM

Another boring, fight from Big George, the NHL`s all time most overrated, chicken wrestler. What ever happened when guys stood toe kto toe? You One took some shots to get some in.

Posted by hrngmprd on February 16, 2008 at 11:57 AM

BGL won this fight. Brookbank needs to find a better opponent. BGL is lucky he didn't kill him.

Posted by pynkfloid3 on February 15, 2008 at 10:53 AM

could the camera work suck anymore?

Posted by STL13 on February 18, 2008 at 07:00 AM

Georges Laraque won this one but I wouldn't and won't say he is the best fighter in the league. Not much to this one, these punches had no umph behind them.

Posted by biglite351 on February 18, 2008 at 10:36 AM

Boy did Brookbank grab hold for dear life. He grabbed Laraque in a headlock just to keep them down. Why get into a fight if you are just going to try to end it like that? How does that help your team?

Posted by laraque-iz-bad on February 15, 2008 at 06:19 PM

Another easy win for BGL. The Laraque haters are ridiculous! If I understand correctly, if BGL got punched in the face more often during his fights, then a lot of you would consider him a good fighter? Obviously, very few of you have ever been in a fight. You use your strength and power to get your opponent off balance, then you swing away. Getting jacked in the jaw is not usually part of the plan.
