Jan 24, 2008 Pittsburgh Penguins Georges Laraque
1pd 02:19 Philadelphia Flyers Riley Cote
Right off of the faceoff they drop the gloves and square off at center ice. They grab ahold of each other and Laraque throws a quick left. Cote falls to the ice but Laraque allows him to get back up. They spin around and Laraque starts to connect with numerous lefts, knocking Cote's helmet off and rocking him. Cote throws a left of his own but it comes up short. Laraque continues to land with lefts until Cote throws another left, knocking both off-balance and to the ice.

don't like BGL but he is the champ for a reason and showed why again...big, strong, and smart is a tough combination to beat

he got in the first good grip which proved to be important....i enjoyed the fact it was open and BGL showed his strong technical side getting Cote locked out and keeping him spinning....props to George for acutally using his fists in a win and not just the quick take down

props to Cote for keeping on his feet and looking for a way back in to the fight he will learn fron the fight.... is it me or did he look a bit smallish when they were squared up before the scarp??

Yeah Cote, you probably shouldn't do this again. Laraque with a total domination win, but I see there are a few Philthadelphia homers that think Cote got a take down and a win, they both lost their balance at the end dumb@$$es. And actually watch the video. Laraque lands 15 to Cotes 1 maybe 2. So for all you Laraque haters, are you satisfied? Laraque knocked him down let him back up then continued to punch. Winner and still undisputed Champ: Georges Laraque.

A nice show by rookie against Laraque.
Laraque wins NARROWLY.
He goes down in the end but losing his grip.

Win Laraque. For all you flyer fans , that was domination in a fight. Your boy got owned. Not even close.

Give Cote credit for hanging in there with Laraque

Cote will have other chances to redeem himself later in the year.

Laraque wins this, but once again he gets hit with a single punch, loses his balance, and to the ice he goes...

Cote hung in there, but BGL owned the fight. Hats off to Cote for going w/ the big man, but BGL put on a show and not hugfest for once. He actually punched. He is still the champ.

Wow! The best BGL has looked in a long time. He seemed confident, didn't grapple, and came out ready to throw. Props to Riles too, for not trying to tie up the left and being willing to throw with Georges, unlike many guys. But BGL jackhammered that left off Cote's skull quite a few times. I think it's ironic that in a fight he clearly won, the master of the takedown (Laraque) actually gets taken down by Cote. Good showing by the big man here.

Good job Riley hitting George's hand with your face. Domination

Big Georges with the big win here. I give credit to Cote for standing in there while giving up about 40 pounds and alot of talent. Georges landed about 7 or 8 jackhammer lefts. Another nasty game between the Pens-Flyers.

Good fight. Win laraque.

Props to Cote, he took some doozies and fired back and didn't give up. He's a real gamer.

how could anybody even vote for Cote???
Posted by chl37 on Jan 25, 2008 at 7:59 AM agree disagree
not even fairly close, what clown voted cote? glaring absence of certain flyers on the bench giggling like little school girls from safely behind their visors while cote was getting pummeled mercilessly. credit to big george for allowing cote a go with the reigning champ. credit cote for his continued eagerness to fight (hint to certain other flyboys - visorless) all comers. cote not a top of the line fighter yet, but give him more nhl experience and time to fill out and he will be the feared fighter the flyers have lacked since brashear left town.

Laraque by a mile, but kudos to Cote for hanging in there.
