Hopefully the rest of the league takes note.. Two non heavies remove the helmets and away they go Kane landed a couple decent shots here for the W He's a pretty solid scrapper Listen to the crowd.. They LOVE the fights!

Depres held his own. Kane didn't succeed in connecting with many punches. Despres smile was epic.

Posted by ironbar44 on November 07, 2014 at 12:59 PM

pens really miss 5 but they win the games just not the fights

Posted by Hilaker on November 06, 2014 at 11:59 PM

Did not know the league allows you to take your helmets off. Kudos to those to for dropping the gloves and shields. I give Kane the nod.

That could have ended up bad for SD.. Kane can and will chuck with pretty much anyone. Not a fan of either team, but that was a good game to watch.

Way to step up, Despres- probably knowing you were outclassed by a mile. Kane looked like Babe Ruth playing home run derby- waiting to swing for the fences- he eventually made contact but didn't drive it out of the park. He goated a lesser fighter into dancing- big deal- not earth shattering.

A tilt that evolves from nothing turns into a decent to and fro with Kane ultimately pounding a courageous Despres's fighting skills (or lack thereof) into perspective

Posted by mikebflorida on November 07, 2014 at 11:55 AM

Simon says HIT ME! And Kane obliges. Love them for taking the buckets off. That's actually considered old school now. Pfft. Love the Pen fans talking about the score after they got hammered in the fights. Sigh.

When you "enforcer" and top numbered fighter is Simon Despres.... You need to go shopping... I know .... I know.... the also have Bortozzo.... and Adams (lol) for that matter... But say what you may about Shero he ALWAYS reserved one spot for a Super Heavy,.,,,, just to have a deterrent ... Now.... well... yeah....

Win by Kane, when he is not being an annoying prick ( that's his job I suppose), he has some good talent and can fight. Depres at a 3, and Kane at a 5, the fight at a 5 for me, which may be a little much. What in the hell is wrong with this though, Simon Depres is the Penguin's fight leader. Sill needs to step it up big time, or he can go down to the minors. Think Sill may have gotten hurt today, was cross checked then didn't fight back, he is usually a willing combatant. Downey needs to step it up as well. No way in hell Simon Depres should have to do all he fighting, that's pathetic. Looks like another year of the "Pus**y Penguins"...

Id like to see Despres fight Jim Vandermeer and they can see who can knock the other out with bizarre Smiles.

Posted by Amerkfan8 on November 07, 2014 at 01:07 PM

Is Simon Despres the Pens tough guy? He's not very good at fighting.

Posted by Biggus on November 08, 2014 at 11:16 AM

Love the mutual bucket toss. Seems ironic that they get "unsportmanlike" penalties for this. They should get a 2 minute reduction for sportsman like conduct. Kane with the win here, but I like Despres for his gamemanship.

Posted by greg_malin on November 07, 2014 at 11:02 AM

thats how you win a fight. keep him far away from you and let him get tired. Then ring him up at the end. great strategy by Kane.

Posted by falopiantube on November 07, 2014 at 01:43 AM

8 for fighting like men with helmets off. good fight for both. Kane win.

Posted by Mounty in NC on November 24, 2020 at 04:18 AM

Both landed similar amount of punches. Those two huge punches by Kane at the end missed.... as noted by the announcers as well. DRAW and a 5

Posted by BillyBuzzBomb on November 07, 2014 at 12:30 PM

Kudo's to Depres for eating those two rights and staying on his feet.

Posted by TheodoreRex on November 07, 2014 at 02:43 AM

If Kane got his weight up, he could intimidate some guys in the fisticuff dept. Otherwise he gets a slight win in an underwhelming matchup.

Clear win Kane

Posted by DARCY T on November 07, 2014 at 08:37 AM

nice gesture by kane offering to take their helmets off.he was going for win to fire up his team.but it looked like 2 guys playing at practice at first for a while.but then kane sent despres down with series of kane lol at byfuglien's face expression at the bench while listening to referee

Posted by dcmac on November 07, 2014 at 07:59 AM

Good scrap

Posted by upyours on November 07, 2014 at 09:20 AM

Despres is not much of a fighter yet...Kane gets the nod here. Not a fan of the Milan Lucic raising the arms crap after beating a guy that can't fight but scraps with you anyway. Lucy always did that shat like he just returned from war. It's bush. Go to the box with some respect for your opponent.

kane drilled him good fight thats how it should be

Fleury does a "Billy Smith" to get this one going. At first Simple Simon says watch this as he throws a few and maybe lands one. Evander goes with 'Simon says whack me with a right hand bomb'... and he does for a 2 point knockdown and an easy win. Very cool that they both ate the extra 2 for pitching the head gear!

Posted by EK65 on November 08, 2014 at 02:01 AM

Love the mutual helmet toss... (Although Despres kind of was against it) Very vintage-esque. Evander Kane with the clear advantage... Due to that elbow pad shed monstrous right.. Wished Evander played with a meaner edge..and became more of a regular fighter... Love the commentators use of the old "Change of Voice" "Right HEreeee"

Posted by boldbilly on November 07, 2014 at 08:03 AM

Evander Kane ......please come to Montreal...... Easy win for Kane ....Despres lucky to have survived that encounter See how that is done Adam Lowry you and that great size and your visor

Posted by Old Warrior on November 07, 2014 at 10:50 AM

Kane gives 100%, skating, shooting and throwing 'em.

Posted by Mounty in NC on November 07, 2014 at 07:02 PM

Kane wins this one...Despres is trying to get a name as a tough guy but he isn't known as a fighter while Kane is definitely known as a fighter. Give props to Despres for taking on someone like Kane. Kudos for Kane for willing to take off his helmet but I still don't understand why he wears one

Posted by LSDJester67 on November 06, 2014 at 11:47 PM

Win Kane, really weird fight. They talk and Despres is almost laughing the whole time, never really looked serious until he got whopped

Posted by Massive Coiler on November 06, 2014 at 09:26 PM

Good job by both guys taking their helmets off to avoid a visor fight. Looked like it was gonna be a boring draw, but Kane hammered Despres good at the end of that. Win Kane.

Posted by chad420 on November 08, 2014 at 08:42 AM

Win Hollyfield

Posted by bobowen34 on November 07, 2014 at 06:59 AM

Kane with the win. Too bad he did not beat down Fleury too.

Posted by kkdowning on November 07, 2014 at 09:14 AM

This is just one example of some of the nastiness from this game. Kane was very patient and landed a few rights. Steggie and Errey are insufferable

Posted by grrbronco81 on November 09, 2014 at 11:34 PM

Nice scrap boys! Two heavies and well worth it.

Posted by pvdrummer2000 on November 08, 2014 at 01:34 AM

Kane knocked the goofy smile right off of Despres face!

Posted by dumpin17 on November 07, 2014 at 07:47 AM

The Penguin mouths on Root are horrible. Biggest bunch of douche bag homers I've ever heard. Still think their team wins the cup every year.

Posted by sedinfan on November 08, 2014 at 05:08 PM

I missed this one. Kane with a solid right, not sure how Despres was still standing.

Posted by Humper on November 07, 2014 at 12:23 AM

There was a lot of foreplay, but - somewhat like sex - everything worthwhile happened in the last 5 seconds. Kane never really tagged Despres critically, but he sure tagged him a bunch of times.

Posted by bigmike53 on November 06, 2014 at 11:33 PM

Kane with the decisive finish to get the nod.
