Gratts has had only 3 fights and should already be awarded fighter of the year as he entertains us night after night and comes to fight every time. great job by Gazdic as well and Gratts shows his usual class at the end congratulation the young buck. I wish he could get his hands on that chicken shi* Reaves one day. Oh yeah, i forgot, Reaves doesn't fight tough guys.

Posted by staceyb on November 17, 2013 at 06:08 AM

Gazdic did not embarrass himself in the loss.

Posted by King of Goons on November 17, 2013 at 05:33 AM

Got to love the effort by Gazdic, but McGrats the obvious winner here. McGratten is a machine and heavyweight champ right now. I'd love to see him fight Scott or that big coward Chara.

Posted by The Mad House on November 16, 2013 at 10:58 PM

My oh my! Hell of a scrap here boys!! Gazdic wanted it, kind of like the old days where young up and coming enforcers would challenge the best in the league. It was a long fight and they both threw often, both connecting with some big shots. I think this is the second best fight of the year behind the Bordeleau-McGrattan rematch. Loved it! I called it a draw. P.S. those new Flames sweaters are brutal.

Posted by Behn Wilson on November 16, 2013 at 11:00 PM

Gazdic shows great heart and determination for an over-matched in-too-deep up and comer... But an overwhelming unintimidated McGrattan seemingly effortlessly dominates the fight as he methodically pummels the impressively game Oilers' limited heavyweight status into clearer perspective

Posted by endor on November 17, 2013 at 01:38 AM

Gazdic showed a lot of guts getting his ass kicked. A real tough kid but can't go toe to toe with Grats. Someday..... Wish Grats would have chewed up and s**t out Ference...

Posted by tattooedkingpin on November 18, 2013 at 06:08 PM

Big Mac beat his Gas Dick

Posted by mr hockey on November 17, 2013 at 01:03 PM

slight edge McGrattan ,Gazdic did well he didn't throw as many but he landed some good hard blows ,good tilt!

Posted by ghjkfdhgfd on November 17, 2013 at 01:18 AM

Gratts!

Posted by fernben8 on November 17, 2013 at 12:45 AM

McGrattan kept Gazdic at bay and had Luke reaching for his punches.... Easier said than done but Gazdic should have re-adjusted and worked from the inside of McGrattan's reach. Giving a 6 and edge to McGratts. Always like the mutual respect...good job boys !

Posted by dogginit on November 16, 2013 at 10:52 PM

Gazdic had the look of a poodle that just grabbed onto a pit bull. Win McGrattan

Posted by wings1924 on January 07, 2014 at 01:55 PM

win McGrattan and yes GAZ lose the visor

Posted by Leafsnation28 on November 17, 2013 at 06:02 PM

McGrattan is a beast, unlike the other 'big boys' he doesn't just rely on size, he knows how to fight too, dominated this one.

Posted by francoisleroux on November 20, 2013 at 12:00 PM

McGrattan lands a sneaky right to start things off, and it all goes downhill from there for Gazdic. Gotta hand it to Gazdic, he took shots from one of the heaviest punchers in the game, and hung in there. "Is your head OK? I punched it a lot of times..."

Posted by brownie21 on November 17, 2013 at 11:10 AM

Great scrap, old school style. Big Brian with a slight edge, but Gazdic fared a lot better than I thought he would have. A solid 7

Posted by Ripper20 on April 18, 2014 at 12:30 PM

Great scrap. Wild haymakers by Gazdic that mostly missed. Jersey jabs galore by Grats mixed in with some good rights. Love to see fights end this way...the Wily Veteran pats the rookie on the side of the head with the rookie plainly saying "Good job" and both skate away mostly unscathed. Tell me that didn't pump up the home crowd!

Posted by legion31 on November 17, 2013 at 06:14 AM

mc Grattan is the boss !

Posted by dave_brown on November 18, 2013 at 08:30 PM

I'm not sure how you can't be a McGrattan fan. The guy brings it every time with class. Gazdic also showed a lot of heart.

Posted by Redbush on November 17, 2013 at 11:45 PM

McGrattan is beast even in sobriety. Gotta hand it to Gazdic for standing in with the big man and trading shots. Kind of looked like Louie Debrusk for a minute

Posted by srehm1 on November 16, 2013 at 11:52 PM

McGrattan lands much better overall in a long fight.

Posted by Joceron on November 18, 2013 at 02:52 PM

Love the first right Gratt throws, rarely see guys throw prior to having a handful of shirt. Gratt - 7.

Posted by Kaderson on November 17, 2013 at 01:43 AM

Gratts all day. Props to Gazdic.

Posted by GreatMurray on November 17, 2013 at 08:21 AM

The fact that Gazdic doesn't die should get him a win...mais non! McGratten is a beast and Gazdic actually did well...he might of even landed one in the middle of getting manhandled by the big man.

Posted by Hands of Stone on November 16, 2013 at 11:58 PM

Luke has not honed his entire force found out who his father is. Win Darth McGrattan.

Posted by doctorvegas on November 22, 2013 at 01:40 PM

mcgrattan won pretty easily, it seemed his reach advantage paid off, gazdic was a gammer i got to admit.

Posted by Mark1967 on November 17, 2013 at 12:48 AM

McGrattan with a win in a loooooonnnnnggg one! Good one though!

Posted by DICKJOHNSON on November 17, 2013 at 08:49 PM

McGrattan is my favorite fighter in the NHL, was wishing Buffalo had gotten him instead of Scott. He was in control from start to finish. He added a touch of class with the pat on the head of youngster Gazdic.

Posted by 33Oliwa on November 16, 2013 at 10:56 PM

Win McGratton with control, he'll have to do better than that when McIntyre gets healthy. Good fight for Gazdic though against a proven league Heavyweight.

Posted by dustyknuckles on November 18, 2013 at 11:13 PM

good fight gazdic needs to lose visor... hard to tell which punches landed for mcgrat cause of gazdic's hair being what that girls name willow or something will smiths daughter with the song "i whip my hair" youtube it you will get joke. Anyways Gazdicky there did alright but win has to go to death stare Mcgrattan i love how he hunches with hands on knees and just looks threw people...

Posted by bigtigga200 on November 19, 2013 at 12:58 AM

McGrattan is the true heavyweight champ of the league. He not only plays the game the right way, he also fights the right way. No bush league cheap shots like John Scott.

Posted by stonefox11 on March 06, 2014 at 12:15 AM

Scrappy douchebag got his ass kicked. You're not that good, Dick, but keep trying.

Posted by Westcoast_Goon on November 17, 2013 at 12:20 PM

I may not be a fan of either team... but I love the little tap on the head & 'good job' (or something to that effect) that each guy gave to the other after the scrap. Respect. (and win McGratton, but good showing from Gazdic)

Posted by Jointman on November 17, 2013 at 09:37 AM

you can say whatever you want but McGrattan is the strongest in the league. best fighter for many years already. wow. Bravo Brian

Posted by Razor73 on November 19, 2013 at 09:45 AM

I am an Avs fan but i love McGrattan. You gotta love this guy. Clear winner McG.

Posted by nutz99 on December 21, 2013 at 02:01 AM

Great scrap. Rally like it when they pat each other on their head...nothing personal. Gazdic at the end looks like he says "Good job, thanks for the scrap" Love it

Posted by Jellyczar on December 21, 2013 at 01:45 PM

McGratts....pateint and strong ..... knocks Gazdic's lid off and wears his opponent down with boms and short rights...

Posted by b.t.wilson on November 17, 2013 at 01:29 AM

That's what is known as a "gooder." McGrattan with the win, but Gazdic came awful close a couple times to landing a hammer.

Posted by Tex55 on November 21, 2013 at 04:14 PM

Great bout, unanimous decision to McGrattan. Great effort by Gaz.

Posted by digitalroc on November 17, 2013 at 02:45 AM

What are you guys talking about?!? First off both fighters are within 5 pounds of each other, and it was more than an "edge" for McGrattan. McGrattan dominated the fight, and threw more, landed more, the clear aggressor. McGrattan feed several left jabs followed by overhand rights. Who gives this contest a draw, or even worse 4% of the votes goes to Gazdic, obviously someone who doesn't know fighting or an sOiler fan.

Posted by rowbearprobear on November 17, 2013 at 06:45 AM

Gratts IS the HW champ right now. No buts, ifs, or maybes about it. Thought he was going to get knocked out with his strategy of balls to the wall aggression. This kid from Edmonton was impressive. Fighting the most dangerous of ways - out of fear. Oh yeah, gratts is truly CRaZY! Does not care if he gets bloodied! A very scary man, indeed. Yikes!

Posted by Power29 on April 02, 2014 at 10:28 PM

McGrattan is the toughest guy in the league and does well against a really good heavy in Gazdic.

Posted by slavv on November 17, 2013 at 09:49 AM

Hate to see those bullshit knee shots!! As far as the unrelated fight, Gazdic hung in there much better than I thought he would. McGratten even had a respectful chat with him before they skated to the box. McGratten gets the win, but Gazdic gets an honorable mention....

Posted by jnk07899 on November 18, 2013 at 11:21 AM

Gratts with the win, but we were all rooting for the much under matched Gazdic.

Posted by retired2006 on November 17, 2013 at 05:13 AM

Gadzic obviously used a Ric Flair saying, To be the best, you have to beat the best. Credit to him for hanging in, but McGrattan controlled the fight and classy as always after. Easily a win for McGrattan.

Posted by dapwas20 on November 17, 2013 at 02:49 PM

Win McGrattan, but great determination shown by Gazdic. Great sportsmanship by both.

Posted by Bitzidee on December 01, 2013 at 01:17 AM

And Big Ern outfights another one. Gazdic just stood there and got hammered.

Posted by Cruncher on November 17, 2013 at 09:38 PM

McGrattan, gives props to the kid and that's gotta mean the kid gets props from here.

Posted by Orr Fourever on November 17, 2013 at 07:13 AM

Yikes!!! Boy I thought McG was going to pummel Luke. But Luke held his own good on him. McG with the win. Battle of Alberta is on. Round 1 to the mighty Oil. Nobody say'en anything bout fighting with a visor EH.

Posted by captainmook on November 16, 2013 at 11:26 PM

Great scrap, but not as close as it looks, props to Gazdic for stepping up and dancing with Gratts -- one of the shining lights for Edmonton this season. I don't know why the Flames don't just continue with the old school jerseys as their 3rd jersey, these new ones are lame..... Anyways, win Mcgrattan. AND WHEN CAN WE EXPECT BETTER VIDEO ????!?!!!?

Posted by Kärppä on November 17, 2013 at 12:29 PM

Gazdic is tough kid. Does not give up!

Posted by tigersw00d on November 17, 2013 at 02:38 AM

Grattan prob the best fighter in the league right now, but his fighting style with no defence will one day get bloodied, just like orr did too him before.

Posted by kellsteener on November 18, 2013 at 09:30 AM

In a fight that had nothing to do with the game, Gazdic shows that he's maybe too tough for his own good. Big win McG; maybe Gazdic's hair cushioned some of those blows.

Posted by ADS81 on November 17, 2013 at 09:04 AM

Good scrap, hats off to Gazdic. McGrattan is a beast

Posted by Parrosmustache on November 17, 2013 at 07:50 PM

Great fight by both guys. McGrattan is a class act.

Posted by Soldat on November 18, 2013 at 09:07 PM

Posted by bigmike53 on August 18, 2015 at 06:45 PM

Great effort by Gazdic but Gratts shows why he's the Boss. Win for the Champ in a good one.

Posted by knockout69 on March 15, 2014 at 07:38 PM

brian too much but luke hung in there good fight

Posted by tyrone on November 17, 2013 at 10:17 PM

Big Mac is the champ. Period.

Posted by FMH99 on November 19, 2013 at 08:08 PM

Heck of a job by Gazdic staying in there and landing some shots of his own although he was definitely outmatched. McGrattan is probably the best right now.

Posted by Meatpuppet42 on November 21, 2013 at 04:42 AM

Still the king

Posted by Bruins170 on March 02, 2014 at 08:39 AM

Great battle. This kid is for real and wonder what either of these two would do against Scott. The comment about Chara being a big coward. Common the guy is a Capt of a Stanley Cup winner. We all know he is not the greatest fighter in the NHL. He is not even the best fighter on the Bruins. But he is big bad and a great player.

Posted by 066987488 on November 16, 2013 at 10:53 PM

Great scrap, edge to McGrattan but give Gazdic respect for going with the veteran fighter

Posted by BigRo on December 22, 2014 at 01:01 PM

IMO Big Ern is THE MAN! Good on Gazdic, but when you go against the top dog, you don't win many. WAY too much experience from Big Ern.

Posted by Willie Trognitz on November 17, 2013 at 07:22 PM

Good bout...after the fight does Gazdic say "good job, thanks for the scrap" as McGrattan pats him on the head?

Posted by boogs24 on January 11, 2014 at 04:33 PM

Mcsmacken with the easy win heavy weight champ this year

Posted by Mooseslayer on December 14, 2013 at 01:20 PM

Kudos for Gadzic showing up fore this one against Big Ern. Finally the Soilers have someone who can fight and SKATE (unlike SMAC) The Soilers need more grit to protect their little smurfs.

Posted by Spinner55 on November 17, 2013 at 10:43 AM

Gazdic is a keeper, Oiler Fans. McGrattan is a true heavyweight, one of the few that would accept a bout with MacIntyre willingly. It would be great to see one last fight between Smack and Grat. Class act by McGrattan, congratulating the kid on a gutsy performance. Winner,..McGrattan.

Posted by pepsigenerate on November 16, 2013 at 11:40 PM

Mcgrattan with the win.Gazdic just wasn't strong enough

Posted by ThrowdownSJ408 on November 17, 2013 at 03:05 PM

Great fight, we are so lucky as fans that oilers brought Luke to the NHL via waivers and FLames took Mcgrattan back!

Posted by glovedropper21 on November 17, 2013 at 12:15 AM

Props to gazdic for holding his own with mcgrattan

Posted by Sensfan97 on November 17, 2013 at 03:00 PM

love mcgrattan! i miss him in Ottawa. Also love how he shows respect to gazdic after the fight. Gazdic did good against when considering he was up against a guy like mcgrattan so I'll give him credit there but mcgrattan dominated the fight.

Posted by Weetie on November 17, 2013 at 02:46 AM

Great scrap! Loving Gazdic. Despite McGrattan getting the edge this is defnitely gonna be a FOTW!

Posted by Razer_32 on November 17, 2013 at 11:15 AM

A stunning display of pugilism ends with a friendly pat to the head.

Posted by LUCICtheKING420 on October 22, 2014 at 07:30 PM

Mcgratten beat gazdic bordeleue beat mcgratten and gazdic beat the shit out of bordeleue

Posted by sbc306 on November 18, 2013 at 02:53 PM

Could McGrattan have his helmet on any tighter? He spent half the fight with his head turned to Gazdic.

Posted by 74 bronco on November 20, 2013 at 03:56 AM

Great show for gazdic. Surprised Macgratton. I'm sure gratt figure it would be an easy win. Wait till he has to fight the toughest guy in the league. MacIntyre will work gratts over again.

Posted by SylvanLaker on November 19, 2013 at 12:17 PM

Well at least Gazdik didn't sit and jersey jab for most of his landed punches....mind you I AM NOT A FLAMES FAN.....we'll see when MacIntyre gets back.....then we shall see. I applaud Luke for his courage McG is as of today one of the toughest playing in the NHL.

Posted by prowler on January 05, 2015 at 01:35 PM

draw

Posted by opiatedsherpa on November 17, 2013 at 01:08 AM

McGrattan on a decision... good start and dominated the chucking. Too bad though. Would've like to have seen that shitty jersey stomped on.

Posted by Mounty in NC on November 18, 2013 at 12:49 PM

While BM pretty handled LG, you gotta give it to LG for staying in there and throwing punches (and landing a few).

Posted by rampart7577 on November 17, 2013 at 08:03 AM

Gratts is the man, great respect to the other fighters as well

Posted by rocky7482 on November 17, 2013 at 10:27 AM

Domination, but huge props to Gazdic for not going down. I have no idea how he stayed on his feet after taking bomb after bomb.

Posted by Humper on November 17, 2013 at 12:34 PM

I'd give it a 10 for enthusiasm and 9 for length of bout, but not much for punches landed, especially by Gazdic.

Posted by claire alexande on November 18, 2013 at 05:37 PM

Give Gazdic credit for hanging in there but he's just not in McGrattan's league and demonstrates it here.

Posted by pvdrummer2000 on November 16, 2013 at 11:36 PM

Gazdic is going to be a decent scrapper. Unfortunately, McGrattan schooled the youngster in this dandy. Mess with the bull, ya get the horns.

Posted by jimmat on November 17, 2013 at 03:32 PM

Not close as McGrattan shows why he's the man. I like Gazdic, but he's not ready for this yet. Good scrap by both with some nice courtesy shown by both guys.

Posted by PantherPete on June 22, 2014 at 08:20 AM

The issues for Luke Gazdic is that unlike most others that he's fought, Brian McGrattan LOVES to fight. Equally important is that Gratts can not only defend well, but can also eat a few if he has to, counter solidly w/o exposing himself too much, has cinder blocks for fist and the stamina of a horse.

Posted by snowave on November 19, 2013 at 02:53 PM

damn, I wish the Ducks would have kept Mac a couple/few yrs ago when he was in the system for a while.

Posted by Big_Fat_Dan on November 18, 2013 at 01:25 AM

another great bout that McGrattan is involved in. He takes this one but props to Gazdic who showed he can mix it with the big boys.

Posted by kkdowning on November 16, 2013 at 11:58 PM

What heart by Gazdic, but he is a cruiserweight against a top notch heavyweight veteran. Win McGrattan.

Posted by theorange on November 16, 2013 at 10:52 PM

good fight, mcgrattan was just more.

Posted by sjeffh on November 17, 2013 at 06:13 AM

Obvious win by McGrattan and the fight wasn't close but still a good fight because of Gazdic hanging in there. Gazdic had no shot at winning this and he had to know that from the start but he just hung in and kept trying to land one.

Posted by Ed Van Impe on November 18, 2013 at 07:16 AM

McGrattan is a bad dude ...

Long fight and a slug fest. McGrattan win this.

Posted by Silent Partner on November 17, 2013 at 07:20 AM

I call this a draw, seems to me like Gazdic is becoming a force to reckon with. He's only 29 so could be in the top 5 for quite a few years.

Posted by rocky 1 on November 17, 2013 at 03:41 PM

A great tilt with both guys throwing down.Gazdic stands right in there with Grats for a draw!

Posted by habscrusher on November 17, 2013 at 07:14 PM

McGratten can waltz thru the west now that he's away from Colton Orr. Orr always ate his lunch.

Gadzik gets an A for effort. Much respect for Gadz hanging in there. Clear win for McG

Posted by DARCY T on November 21, 2013 at 05:06 AM

that was great effort by gazdic but it seems like mcgrattan was never in trouble during the fight.bigger mcgrattan got a reach advatnage and controlled the fight..win mcgrattan who still is reigning king
