My God hockey fights are a joke these days. I can't believe you people voted to go with Boogaard in this fight because in my opinion, both players can't fight their way out of a wet paper bag. I mean, c'mon, this is a draw at best. You voted Boogaard because he got in 4 shots to Shelly's helmet? And this after they both just stood there like a couple of cardboard cutouts with their fists up? Sheesh. Crap fight all around.

Posted by Shredder1976 on November 04, 2010 at 09:41 PM

Boogaard is a beast and Shelley did ok.... It a shame that there coach is a dusch nozzle.... Torts is a joke!!!

Posted by EDDUBBS on November 05, 2010 at 12:11 AM

Draw again. I watched in slow motion and I am a big Boogard fan and there is not much here, especially when you have such a huge advantage over almost all your opponents. Boogeyman connect with 2 jabs and not much else. Hitting the back of Shelly's helmet means nothing, although if there was a face there instead we would have severe damage. By the way, the Rangers really blow, with the idiots that coach and run this franchise.

Posted by mavrck22 on November 04, 2010 at 09:44 PM

How anybody can say Boogyman won that is wasnt even a fight, it was a shirt pulling match with no real punches landed...the same with the carcillo fight with the edge to carcillo because he ended up on top at the end....Flyers were the bullies on the block for decades and I havent seen anything yet to change that....everybody tries to go out and get a goon to match up with the flyers and they fail every

Posted by tyrone on November 05, 2010 at 10:14 AM

Boogie is my favorite, but folks let's watch this again. I have to agree with Tony Esposito and give it to Shellster. He is the only one that got a shot in.

Posted by bruiseyoureye on November 04, 2010 at 09:20 PM

crap fight all the way.........rack this up as one of the worst fights of the year........boogaard lands one punch so he wins.............. the philthadelphia cryers are the most pathetic team in the nhl.

Posted by yngblonde1 on November 05, 2010 at 08:55 AM

Now when the young Penguin beat the blood from jody Shellys face people were saying Shelly was too old...I guess now it will be Boogaard was too big...The only thing that enables Boo to win any fights is the fact he is actually a shaved BIGFOOT. He looks like like a pink version of Shrek.. Anyway it was a boring fight with an old worn out fighter and a dancing bear..

Posted by slodrive on November 05, 2010 at 11:39 AM

A borderline waste of time. Boring. Almost all that's wrong with fighting in our game. Why anyone bothers fighting Boogaard is beyond me. Sinks the team, sinks the crowd ('cause rarely are they exciting fights) and puts you at risk of getting hurt. To me, the more Boogaard plays, the better it is for the opponents.

Posted by hammerhead88 on November 04, 2010 at 11:22 PM

Boring fight. Fists to the back of helmet......

Posted by bigpucks on November 05, 2010 at 11:07 AM

Shelley looks like the meat hanging in the freezer Rocky punches.

Posted by LawsonBarkhouse on February 27, 2011 at 12:23 PM

It's easy to critique this fight. The beer bottle is just a freak.A normal man cannot reach the creep unless he gets in close and I'm sure that would present a different set of problems. He will however get his and I hope to see it happen. He has lost twice this year but I'm waiting for the big one.

Posted by jaybird6401 on November 05, 2010 at 12:12 AM

booooooo pretty weak fight

Posted by BigRob1 on November 04, 2010 at 08:17 PM

Ehh, thought it would be better. Win Boo!

Posted by GCBC00 on November 04, 2010 at 09:35 PM

Not much to see, considering all the hype. As much as I respect him for what he's done in past years, looks like Jody is on the way out. Too bad, as he is truly one tough son of a bitch! Slight win Boogaard.

Posted by kshafe777 on November 06, 2010 at 12:13 PM

boogie whalloped him... not a very good fight.

Posted by Punchdaddy on November 04, 2010 at 10:24 PM

Doesn't really look like millions of dollars worth of fighters. But Boogie with the "win" in a lame fight. I gave it a 3.

Posted by blazers76 on November 04, 2010 at 10:30 PM

Pretty uneventfull scrap. Win Boogaard , but not overly impressive.

Posted by DARCY T on November 06, 2010 at 10:39 AM

boogaard outmuscled him and gets the edge...4

Posted by Bad Dawg on November 05, 2010 at 04:23 PM

Shelley didn't know whether to chit or wind his watch, come on you knobs that said it was close!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Laserman on November 04, 2010 at 10:41 PM

Boogaard landed more so I give it to him! At least Shelley knows better than to let Boogie have a clear shot at his face! Fedoruk learned the hard way!

Posted by staceyb on November 05, 2010 at 05:36 AM

I'm sure they'll fight every time the two teams play this year. Boogeyman takes the first one while Shelley's stitches must have healed up from his previous losing effort. Boogaard was a healthy scratch in the previous game so he has his limitations.

Posted by hydr4 on November 04, 2010 at 08:29 PM

# of punches thrown wins this for boogey

Posted by fernben8 on November 05, 2010 at 04:11 PM

Shelley makes two mistakes in this fight.. 1- He allows Boogie to fight his kind of fight..which is no match even for the above average fighter. 2- He obviously didn't watch the clips of Thornton's win. The Boogie man can be beaten boys...have to make him fight outside his comfort zone....which is generally ' in close' for starters and gets frustrated when tied up. If you want the rest.... well , send a certified check to: PO Box'll be guaranteed a win ( by me) or your money back.

Posted by Caps44 on November 08, 2010 at 10:21 PM

Shelley issued the 'invitation' and Boog agreed. Too short! Perhaps more interesting, another case of the Flyers preferring to try the intimidation route than skilled hockey. It will catch up with them real soon.

Posted by jlbenson1972 on November 05, 2010 at 08:17 PM

Quite frankly, ANYONE who tries to take on Boogard really just needs to have their head examined. Kudos to Shelly for taking the initiative but, in my humble opinion, I don't believe there's another fighter currently out there who can match up to the Boogey Man.

Posted by Leafs2006 on November 05, 2010 at 07:19 PM

What morons voted for Shelley??? If you thinkShelley won this fight, i may suggest you quit watching this sport, and try eqestrian.

Posted by Behn Wilson on November 06, 2010 at 07:39 PM

It's going to be a looooooooooong year for Shelley... So since I'm pressed for time in catching up... I completely agree with the first ten reviews of this fight.

Posted by LA KING FANATIC on November 05, 2010 at 01:17 PM

Derek Boogaard can hit you in New York and be standing in Jersey, long arms. He is a beast..someone please kick his ass...anyone? Shelley was willing but needed to stay in close to get anything done. Win Boogeyman

Posted by bernie on November 04, 2010 at 11:15 PM

Boogard was the winner

Posted by kryon24 on November 05, 2010 at 09:49 AM

Slight nod to Booger although everything seemed to bounce off Shelleys helmet or shoulder pad. Even with that said, I would not want to take one of those off my helmet. Shelley never shies away from anyone.

Posted by lb1631 on November 05, 2010 at 08:53 AM

Not even close. Boogard with the clear win. That god Philly gave a 34 year old aging fightter 1 mil a year for 3 years. Donald Brasheer is also available too if the flyres are interested.

Posted by Jellyczar on November 04, 2010 at 08:20 PM

edge to Boogaard

Posted by hkhk on November 06, 2010 at 12:34 AM

boogey showed why flyers shouldve signed him instead of shelley , maybe its time to rethink shelley and money wasted couldve signed mcgrats for less and prob win a fight or 2.. Boogey shouldve been in orange and black..

Posted by b.t.wilson on November 04, 2010 at 10:34 PM

whenever anyone has the fortitude to drop the mitts with boogaard i think, god i hope this poor soul skates off the ice after. nothing too damaging done, but though i would consider that a small victory for shelley, he never really had a chance. decisive win to boogaard in an okay fight.

Posted by jlmcgui on November 04, 2010 at 09:58 PM

Boo with the win ... but can he score?

Posted by tattooedkingpin on November 04, 2010 at 09:58 PM

Boogard is just an animal

Posted by Detroit_Caps on November 04, 2010 at 09:18 PM

ummm yeah. . .I think its safe to say that was not one of Shelleys better outings. . .

Posted by bradyj4 on November 09, 2010 at 09:18 AM

He just should not fight Boogaard.

Posted by rocky 1 on November 07, 2010 at 11:54 AM

Boogaard just too big and strong so he wins easily here!

Posted by bruins rule on November 05, 2010 at 08:19 AM

boogaard gets the win in this fight.

Posted by ORR TO THE BOX on November 05, 2010 at 12:00 PM

Win boogeyman. Shelley didnt do a thing

Posted by ghjkfdhgfd on November 05, 2010 at 05:50 AM

Posted by njsteve on November 05, 2010 at 01:27 AM

boogaard earning his 1.6 mil a year. got the best of shelley this time i'd say

Posted by slavv on November 04, 2010 at 09:10 PM

Easy time for Boogaard. Shelley's fighting days are behind him, as he once again reminds us...

Posted by The Foil on November 05, 2010 at 10:40 PM

Glad to see the big man still kicking ass

Posted by shuckthefarks on November 05, 2010 at 01:22 PM

Not close. Boogaard unenthusiastically handles Shelley with ease.

Posted by nickademous on November 05, 2010 at 12:17 AM

boogey man is bigger, badder and landed more blows. shelley complains that the linesmen jumped in too early. i'd have to agree.

Posted by sedinfan on November 04, 2010 at 09:47 PM

what are you thinking Shelley?

Posted by 5fourfighten on November 05, 2010 at 11:10 AM

Not even close. Boogyman with the Jabs and the straight right. Shirley barely connected and should be thankful he was wearing a helmet.

Posted by HMai802915 on December 04, 2010 at 11:20 AM

Shelley was handled by the BoogyMan!!! I Love these 2 guys but it was clear that Boogaard handled Shelley easily.

Posted by lunchpailAC on November 05, 2010 at 04:29 AM

decent fight but I think these guys know each other too well. Edge to Boogie with a legit takedown.

Posted by iambigd33 on November 04, 2010 at 09:26 PM

both fighters landed one punch then Boogaard landed several shots to Shellys helmet and knocked him down i guess thats makes him the winner

Posted by FrankLexy on November 04, 2010 at 09:46 PM

What a waste of money and cap space Shelly is, why drop a mil on a 34 year old tough guy?? he could of gotten a guy like Smac for half the price hes still wearing the zipper from his fight with Engelland, and he gets smoked here again...atleast by Boogie tho

Posted by falconfan on November 05, 2010 at 08:23 PM

Boogard got his long arms extended, no chance for Shelley. He will club you down with that reach. Got to give Shelley marks for trying to trade punches with the Boogeyman.

Posted by j sto on November 06, 2010 at 03:56 PM

Boogie with the win quite easily. Flyers fans thought they were getting an enforcer in Shelley but just another punching bag like Cote.

Posted by glennw on November 04, 2010 at 09:32 PM

How any can score this as anything but a W for Boogaard is beyond me. It's not as if a lot of clean shots landed, but he certainly dictated the action and landed more shots. Sometimes I wonder what people are looking at and if they vote strictly with their team as opposed to having an objective view.

Posted by JoeKocur26 on November 05, 2010 at 12:23 AM

Not a great fight. Shelly was smart to stay out of Boogaard's way. Interesting that he ducked him later in the game. Shows that at his advanced age, he may no longer be a good fighter, but still has some brains left. MAVRCK22: Are you kidding me. You need to get your mom's ba!!s out from in front of your nose. You'll see the TV better that way. Shelley is a class act, but his time is over and he cant' fight anymore. Carcillo never landed a punch. Unless he's fighting guys who are paid to score and not fight, he has no chance. Check his fight log. Anytime he fights any tough guy -- middleweight, heavyweight, etc., he gets a beat down. He got shut down tonight by Prust. To put it in perspective for you, MAVRCK22: it's kind of like what happens to you when you proposition any girl other than a blow-up doll. Good luck with that.

Posted by cfriskney on December 01, 2010 at 11:12 PM

How can any of you give Shelley the win?!

Posted by rmartini27 on November 04, 2010 at 11:29 PM

MAVRCK22, not every ffight can be PROBERT / DOMI, when boogaard pounds shelley into the ice he's going to get the win. as far as prust and carcillo im not sure if carcillo got a worth while punch in the whole fight. and philly being bullies the way that carcillo and shelley acted after there fights maybe they should talk to JOHNNY WEIR about a career move. not sure what your watching MAVRCK maybe you should try turning theTV on to watch the games.maybe you'll see what we are all seeing

Posted by scorp1on on November 05, 2010 at 11:47 PM

There's only a couple guys in the league that can play the long game with Boogard. It was over from the beginning. Shelly must learn from DJ King and get inside quick if he is going to get even a token tag on the Boogeyman. Since Shelly waited for Boogard to initiate and he got a good quick grab and lockout in there, the long game it was going to be.

Posted by killa101 on November 11, 2010 at 11:33 AM

Easy win boogeymannnn!

Posted by JustinL611 on November 04, 2010 at 09:05 PM

Boogaard gets the edge by controlling Shelley and better shots landed. Prust took care of Carcillo as well as expected.

Posted by letsdance24 on November 05, 2010 at 06:28 PM

Boogie Man is back...

Posted by fade2black on November 06, 2010 at 05:15 PM

Boogaard but as has been said before, uneventful fight overall. Once the Flyers got up by a few Boogaard did a lot of "skating" (use that term very loosely) around looking for more trouble but no one would oblige. Oh well maybe next time.

Posted by NYDavid on November 04, 2010 at 10:17 PM

Boogaard hasn't really impressed me much with anything this year. It looks like he's bored out there.

Posted by Bruins29 on November 05, 2010 at 09:50 AM

Boogaard's reach is too much for Shelley in this one.

Posted by skierleeub on November 29, 2010 at 12:35 PM

Which Philly homer voted Shelley?

Posted by ilovenyr on November 04, 2010 at 11:21 PM

Win for Boogard due to Height/Reach advantage.

Posted by Rags4Life on November 04, 2010 at 11:53 PM

boring fight. not worthy of all that $ between em in my opinion. edge to boo for throwing more

Posted by en4ceR on November 04, 2010 at 11:31 PM

Boogaard is the best and toughest enforcer in the NHL. Period! No Debate. Left jabs connected 2-3 times hard. Right connected twice, plus all those heavy hard blows to the head and helmet. If you played hockey you know that those hurt and causing ringing in the head. NO one in the league can challenge and beat Boogaard. NO ONE! Way to go Boogeyman...They miss you up here in Minny. Wact the fight over and over again and you will see the destruction that is the Boogeyman!

Posted by Stevens Lindros on November 05, 2010 at 06:36 PM

Anyone who voted for Shelley is brain-dead aka a flyer fan

Posted by Tony Esposito on November 04, 2010 at 08:13 PM

Looks like Shelley got the only clean shot in.

Posted by gmr133 on November 05, 2010 at 11:43 AM

Can you say "waste of a roster spot"? Can you say it twice? What a joke. Boogaard putting his nightly 90 seconds of ice time to productive use. Shelley getting beat up, again.

Posted by Oil Can Henry on November 05, 2010 at 01:49 AM

Not very good,....Boogaard looked the stronger of the two, though.

Posted by Northern Flyer on November 05, 2010 at 10:43 AM

Boogaard with the edge/win. Boring scrap but Boogaard gets points for being a lot more active

Posted by trueblue3044 on November 04, 2010 at 09:09 PM

Clear Boogeyman win here. Took control and got way more shots in.

Posted by Big_Fat_Dan on November 05, 2010 at 03:04 PM

Boogey rocked Shelley back with some helmet shots, that was about all. I really want to see Boogaard clean somebody's whistle.

Posted by DocGomer on November 05, 2010 at 03:06 PM

Rangers fan, hate Boog, loved Shelley while he was in NY. Win Boog on this fight though.

25 seconds to throw a punch, come on guys. But Boogaard had more punch power, easy win. sorry Shelley, SJ should've kept u.(

The reach of Boogaard wins this one.

Posted by Richard Windsor on November 04, 2010 at 08:32 PM

Not much of a tilt, Boogaard win based on the number of punches.

Posted by pvdrummer2000 on February 21, 2015 at 02:23 AM
