Eaves lands the better punches. Versteeg bailed on the fight after Eaves lit him up with the uppercut and haymaker.

Posted by wetstick on January 17, 2010 at 05:10 PM

that was a decent scrap, I give it a draw

Posted by Bosoxshute on January 18, 2010 at 01:11 PM

Not nearly as good of a fight as the vote is showing. Must be nothing but a bunch of Detroit fa ggots voting.

Posted by shrk33 on January 17, 2010 at 09:01 PM

decent fight, both guys get in some shots. no clear winner, draw. I like seeing two guys that don't normally do this go!

Posted by paddyd on January 18, 2010 at 10:39 AM

Good bout, lets call it a draw!

Posted by bruiseyoureye on January 17, 2010 at 09:01 PM

nice fight, draw

Posted by Behn Wilson on January 18, 2010 at 08:51 AM

I'm going for, yet, another draw, although Eaves did ''seem'' to land more quality shots. Good energy.

Posted by 3-26-97 on January 17, 2010 at 11:02 PM

Nice scrap, gave it a 6. Would never have expected these two to go, called it a draw.

Posted by Air Dump on January 18, 2010 at 02:23 PM

Great to see the helmets coming off BEFORE the scrap. The heavyweights should take note. And what's with all the torn jerseys lately in some of the other bouts

Posted by bruins rule on January 17, 2010 at 09:41 PM

good fight between these 2 guys.

Posted by Hav42 on January 17, 2010 at 03:21 PM

Great spirited open bout. Both landed some great shots. Eaves cut early.

Posted by kronvallizer78 on January 18, 2010 at 06:15 AM

nice tilt from both, despite the cut eaves landed the bigger blows, would give it a draw since the uppercut really rattled versteeg. good to see another wing dropping the glove besides pops may

Posted by blazers76 on January 17, 2010 at 02:51 PM

Draw in a great scrap between a couple guys who don't go often.

Posted by finnegan4 on January 20, 2010 at 05:16 PM

Edge 2 Versteeg

Posted by PENGUINSCUP09 on January 18, 2010 at 08:56 PM

Versteeg with the points for the cut and the takedown,

Posted by mook72 on January 17, 2010 at 07:23 PM

Versteeg who NEVER fights gets some good quick shots in on the bigger man early.

Posted by sulley71 on January 18, 2010 at 11:26 PM

Versteeg started strong, Eaves good in the middle, Versteeg ended well. Edge to Versteeg for landing more Quality shots in his second career fight.

kris beat the shit out of eaves

Great fight. Better game.

Posted by joaquin on January 17, 2010 at 05:39 PM

Wow, I don't think anybody saw this coming. Awesome fight, win to Versteeg.

Posted by tyrone on January 17, 2010 at 03:51 PM

Very good fight. So close, but when there is blood in a 'draw', you give it to the one who draws the blood.

Posted by nick60110 on January 18, 2010 at 03:04 PM

Versteeg gave up 20 pounds cut him and traded blows. versteeg wins the sportsline Web site says versteeg is 5-9/159 and 17 Patrick Eaves, RW Height/Weight: 6-0/192

Posted by Hagstrom on January 19, 2010 at 05:36 AM

Versteeg with the win for staggering Eaves and opening him up.

Posted by seditiondp on January 18, 2010 at 12:09 PM

I think Versteeg takes the win on the slight extra shots he gave Eaves to the back of the head when Eaves was pulling away. Very close though.

Posted by BlackandTeal on January 31, 2010 at 07:05 PM

versteeg has some good punches near the end W for versteeg

Posted by EastKing on January 18, 2010 at 10:07 PM

Great fight with good emotion. Have to give the edge to Versteeg here though the fight was close. Both had a fair amount of blood on them.

Posted by GCBC00 on January 17, 2010 at 09:18 PM

It's good to see a couple middle weights give it a go. Eaves threw a couple quality punches but Steeger rebounded well with even a couple more of his own that seemed to cause some damage. Although it looked as though Eaves had a previous cut, he took a few straight to the face/cheek. WIN VERSTEEG

Posted by gkcs7 on January 17, 2010 at 04:03 PM

these are the fights that make hockey! these teams have a genuine hate developing with playoffs @ the corner, both guys who can play the game, putting it out there! edge versteeg.

Posted by denverblackhawk on January 17, 2010 at 05:59 PM

Good scrap.

Posted by hsvj60 on January 18, 2010 at 04:43 PM

The fight was entertaining and it was Versteeg early then Eaves came on then Versteeg finished well Good fight for lightweights

Posted by fernben8 on January 17, 2010 at 10:08 PM

A real dandy! Each fighter had their moment..narrow edge to Versteeg for landing the solid one early that may have cut Eaves.

Posted by VonShak on January 18, 2010 at 01:41 PM

Very good fight, close fight, gotta give it to Versteeg

Posted by PJ_pund on January 19, 2010 at 11:20 AM

Good competitive clean fight, the way it should be. I was supprised 'Steeger got in an early eye opener 'cause he had less reach but he took a pounding for it. Both fighters took their lumps and stood tall for their teams. I didn't like how the NBC announcer was giving kudos to Eaves for standing up to Steeg, HELLO! Eaves appears to have about a foot of extra height compared to Steeger!

Posted by rivec20 on February 25, 2010 at 10:02 PM

you gotta give this one to versteeg. eaves caught him with an uppercut and a brief right, other than that, he missed horribly. versteeg gave him some shots early, took the uppercut, then kept throwing. after versteeg caught the straight right, he landed 3 rights of his own. the energy in this fight and the game was amazing, and the fact that they both immediately threw off their helmets was awesome, how every fight should begin.

Posted by snibbodmot4 on January 18, 2010 at 08:40 AM

"A" for effort to both guys...

Posted by JWagz11 on January 20, 2010 at 03:50 PM

Good fight. Versteeg by a hair.

Posted by devil_d0gg09 on January 18, 2010 at 02:21 AM

Versteeg with the win

Posted by HaWKeYToWNusa on January 18, 2010 at 11:59 AM

Is there a lot of Wings fans on here or what? Let me break it down for the idiots. Versteeg lands a few rights, Busts Eaves eye open. Eaves landed one of two upercuts the first of which hit Steegs in the chest the second barely stunded him. This is when Steeg threw more right and left jabs and gets a takedown. Now what what I wrote agan and tell me that one uppercut equals a draw.?.? Versteeg switched hands more than once drew blood and got a takedown come on you fools. I swear a blind monkey can see the clear winner here. Kris Versteeg.

Posted by blackhawks16 on January 17, 2010 at 05:47 PM

Versteeg win!!

Posted by Byfuglie33 on January 17, 2010 at 04:16 PM

Eaves always takes on someone smaller than him, at least Versteeg was close to his size. Probably the most free swinging fight I have seen in a long time. Versteeg stung him good early, and after that, it was a draw.

Posted by HawksFanUC on January 18, 2010 at 07:03 PM

after rewatching it, it is a clear steeg W although Eaves had a moment or 2.

Posted by Oskee43 on January 17, 2010 at 03:29 PM

Eves got some good shots in there, but Steeger drew blood, had the take down and matched Eves' blows.

Posted by scammaj12 on January 18, 2010 at 04:47 PM

Versteeg rocked him at the start, Eaves evened it up, but Versteeg finished it. Versteeg by a hair.

Posted by bhawkzfan19 on January 18, 2010 at 07:12 PM

I travelled to the game and sat near the Blackhawks bench. The fight was right in front of me. Versteeg took a couple of shots but then came back to land several punches and put a gash on Eaves. The winner by a TKO - Versteeg.

Posted by FightBoys32 on January 17, 2010 at 06:24 PM

Good fight betweeen 2 guys you don't really hear to much of...

Posted by The Mob on January 18, 2010 at 06:42 PM

That was a pretty good fight. Eavesie is an old hillbilly through and through. Good for him coming back in this one and getting some pokes in.

Posted by brody005 on January 19, 2010 at 08:35 AM

Win Eaves

Posted by wingsfan513 on January 17, 2010 at 05:33 PM

byfuglie, you are an idiot. Eaves never fights you idiot...... what do you mean he takes on smaller guys then him? he doesn't fight dumbass

Posted by Rmac111 on January 27, 2010 at 03:01 PM

Eaves for the win. He lands more and bigger bunches save for the first from Versteeg.

Posted by tattooedkingpin on January 18, 2010 at 11:28 AM

Who knew Eaves could throw like that?? Love to see Wings stand up for themselves. W Eaves

Posted by metz87 on January 17, 2010 at 04:05 PM

For some reason this fight looks better here then it did on tv. That being said this was a pretty good fight that could really go either way or a draw. I give the win to Eaves but by a hair. Don't see these two guys going often.

Posted by Soulcrusher84 on January 18, 2010 at 01:46 PM

Eaves for the win with that nasty uppercut.

Posted by redwingsman on January 18, 2010 at 10:15 AM

i was there and i have to give my vote to Eaves because versteeg was pushing him around before the face off and upset him

Posted by tlj56ram on January 19, 2010 at 03:45 PM

Eaves kicked Versteeg's rearend!!!! Versteeg did not even land a punch! Eaves RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by mr_guns on January 19, 2010 at 04:15 PM

Versteeg got some good ones in at the start, but Eaves got more quality shots in.

Posted by redwingrocket on January 17, 2010 at 04:37 PM

Eaves landed more punches. This fight was close. Blood for both. Love it.

Posted by hockey174ever on January 17, 2010 at 06:23 PM

That uppercut from Eaves was incredible. After Versteeg got hit with that one, he tried to avoid all punches. hahaha. Great fight. Eaves is the winner in my opinion.

Posted by tank10 on January 18, 2010 at 02:30 AM

Eaves gets my vote. Landed better shots, especially those uppercuts. Just because somebody gets cut doesn't mean they lose.

Posted by GS_Brooks on January 17, 2010 at 03:43 PM

Good to see Eaves drop the gloves. Good go between him and Versteeg. Slight edge to Eaves for landing the better shots forcing Versteeg to have to take him down.

Posted by dmsiii on January 20, 2010 at 11:58 PM

Nice scrap! Hard to believe Eaves can throw 'em like that, considering the bloodlines. His Dad was a good player, but no fighter. Slight edge to Eaves for the harder, more direct blows. No blind monkey here...

Posted by anklebreak75 on January 19, 2010 at 12:48 AM

A detriot player other than May fighting? Eaves took a big one early but came back to win aclose one. Good to see the red sweater throw down.

Posted by TexasStarsRule on January 17, 2010 at 03:46 PM

Versteeg drew blood but missed more throws than Eaves. I'm gonna give Eaves the win here. He landed more hits and was quicker.

Posted by Capnwangdang on January 17, 2010 at 09:25 PM

Just got back from the game. Great game!! Eves was slow to start but the uppercut at 16 sec wasfelt by the entire croud. I had a great angle of it . Versteeg flipped around and still had his head down. Eaves came in immediately with an attack!. I said man that looked bad...when the replay was on the jumbo-tron, the entire cround was like "OOOOH". The vid does no justice to the punch. At 20 sec's Eaves went for the straight arm to the jaw. Versteeg felt Eaves power at that point and flailed his arms wildly until they both felt. Wish it was Probert and Domi but hey you get it when you can. Insane game!

Posted by taborchard on January 18, 2010 at 10:46 PM

Eaves had a real nice fight considering he's not a fighter. He stood up very well!

Posted by U.P WingsFan454 on April 18, 2010 at 06:33 PM

Eaves deff.....

Posted by bishoppx on June 30, 2010 at 03:56 PM

Good fight. None of Versteeg's shots phased Eaves, but Eaves managed to stagger Versteeg with a good hit.

Posted by Habs # 1 on January 17, 2010 at 03:17 PM

great little scrap im giving the edge to eaves for more shots flush...

Posted by The Mule on January 17, 2010 at 05:54 PM

Many will you Versteeg won the fight, but that's simply not the case. Sure, he cut Eaves open, and got the takedown, but that wasn't enough. Eaves landed far more square punches, and overall, the better blow.

Posted by wings8919 on January 18, 2010 at 02:22 AM

Eaves got more and better shots in. good fight on both parts, looked as if Versteeg was bleeding (nose) as well. Great fight for eaves , it really gave the wings some momentum.

Posted by preds321 on January 17, 2010 at 05:24 PM

"Eaves always takes on someone smaller than him, at least Versteeg was close to his size." You mean in his previous THREE career fights? Gimme a break

Posted by tomales2 on January 18, 2010 at 06:51 AM

Good scrap between 2 non-fighters. Seemed to be more than the usual emotion involved. I usually pay little attention to blood, and absolutely none to take downs which are often defensive in nature. Draw

Posted by travist on January 18, 2010 at 10:50 PM

versteeg with some solid shots early, then all eaves. nice bout.

Posted by BcBruins55 on January 18, 2010 at 09:55 AM

solid fight. definite draw, no clear winner

Posted by oats925 on January 17, 2010 at 02:33 PM

Patrick Eaves is an Avery-like rat, but that was a good, close fight.

Posted by PigIron on January 18, 2010 at 07:34 PM

Versteeq w the W - but Eaves had a few good solid punches. V got the W but he'll feel it.

Posted by maggiefan on January 17, 2010 at 07:05 PM

Lots of energy from a couple of guys who rarely fight,

Posted by younggun92 on November 12, 2014 at 04:32 PM

Steeger with the stinger early

Posted by LordKOTL on January 18, 2010 at 02:21 PM

IMHO slight edge to Versteeg. Versteeg showing his proficiency at Eaves-dropping </rimshot>. Eaves got in some good licks, but Versteeg controlled more of the fight.

Posted by lobo52 on January 17, 2010 at 08:02 PM

great scrap edge versteeg

Posted by ISUSigTau921 on March 07, 2010 at 10:18 PM

Great fight, Versteeg gets the win. Versteeg dominates the beginning, Eaves comes back a little but cannot recover. Versteeg draws blood and takes down a rival.

Posted by Oil Can Henry on January 18, 2010 at 02:01 PM

Kinda' sloppy, but they were goin' at it, pretty-good,....lotta' energy in this one. Slightest edge to Eaves, despite the cut.

Posted by thunderfist on January 19, 2010 at 03:03 PM

Pretty good bout for two non fighters! the heavys should be taking notes.

Posted by riffraff on January 18, 2010 at 07:46 PM

versteeg with the decision...seemed to walk through eaves shots.
