This is Suter all the way, he losses his helmet his jersey and gets taken down

Posted by omorales on February 19, 2009 at 12:37 AM

this was comical, draw

Posted by upyours on February 19, 2009 at 03:25 PM

Bob Probert & Marty McSorley are already turning over in their graves after watching this one....and neither one is dead yet!

Posted by BROWN - KOCUR on February 18, 2009 at 11:54 PM

Come on people Hossa might has well have been slapping at Suter with those sissy punches. He had a huge advantage since his sweater wasn't tied down and all he did was make sure he didn't lose his helmet. DRAW - Suter should be ashamed as well.

Posted by holydrums on February 19, 2009 at 01:56 PM

holy crap, what a mess! should have gotten misconducts for embarrassing their respective clubs.

Posted by bruiseyoureye on February 19, 2009 at 12:34 PM

looked like 2 little girls trying to swing pillows at each other........lame ass draw

Posted by staceyb on February 19, 2009 at 05:42 AM

The Europeanized Wings with a rare fight. Terrible Ted Lindsay must shed a tear with each passing game...Probert and Kocur, too.

Posted by BrianTheAdsFan on February 19, 2009 at 11:06 AM

Crap draw

Posted by k.L on February 19, 2009 at 04:13 AM

I've said this since 05/06. Red Wings needs an enforcer and Darren doesn't count. I'd love to see McGrattan in the Wing uniform, but that will never happen.

Posted by Ortmeyer on February 19, 2009 at 01:27 AM

This just in: The Detroit Red Wings have placed Marian Hossa on waivers because of his fighting major in last night's win versus Nashville....

Posted by McCunn8585 on February 19, 2009 at 08:00 AM

Hossa.Hossa.Hossa crap fight. Suter looked like a real pu$$y.

Posted by kalismkkr on February 18, 2009 at 11:13 PM

Gotta shake my head at Hudler and Franzen for keeping their gloves on, especially while Hossa was sticking up for them. But they combined for 3 goals so I won't complain too loudly. Hossa looked really awkward fighting even if it was enjoyable to watch him drop them. I didn't see that one coming.

Posted by EJAX1 on June 19, 2009 at 09:45 PM

hossa's a girl

Posted by apwhelan on February 19, 2009 at 07:18 PM

I don't know who the bigger puss is. Franzen for not dropping them after being slapped or Suter for the shot while Hossa was already down.

Posted by filefactor on February 19, 2009 at 08:36 AM

Well, Hossa was doing good for non-fighter, but all his punches were missed. It looked like they are both afraid to fight. Draw.

Posted by abrod01 on February 19, 2009 at 08:09 AM

AYou can reallly pick out Hossa as the non-fighter. throws a punch like a psycho Who takes off their jersey?lol

Posted by BcBruins55 on February 20, 2009 at 01:01 AM

Draw. Don't the wings have Aaron Downey in the minors?

Posted by ChickenSwede on February 19, 2009 at 04:14 AM

it's nothing but a damn shame team holland/babCock have let it come to this. a really, really sad state of affairs indeed.

Posted by smichaels10 on February 19, 2009 at 01:22 AM

I don't care. It's just nice to see majors called in a Wings game.

Posted by slopp133 on February 19, 2009 at 03:23 AM

Good to see a player like Hossa drop the gloves. Can't really call a winner in this one didn't see anything land

Posted by trpaulson on February 23, 2009 at 06:08 PM

Draw. I guess puke Suter thought Hossa would just skate away. Surprise! Why does Hossa have to fight? Because Red Wing management is too stupid to call Downey back from Grand Rapids. Serious lack of toughness and grit that's gonna hurt the Wing's in the playoffs.

Posted by EddieVile on February 19, 2009 at 08:41 AM

Gae this a draw. The Wings fighting! Probably the biggest surprise of the day so far for me in sunny old England.

Posted by b.t.wilson on February 18, 2009 at 11:05 PM

Gotta call this one a draw, kind of awesome to see Hossa do that. I really thought Suter would kill him, but it almost went the other way around. Still, calling it a draw and a 4, mostly because it was Marian Hossa.

Posted by bruins rule on February 19, 2009 at 07:25 AM

i was surprised to see these guys drop the gloves.

Posted by JoMilla on February 19, 2009 at 12:14 AM

Hossa had one good Jab, but then hit the ice before Suter's rebuttal. Gotta give it a draw, no clear winner.

Posted by bzatch on February 19, 2009 at 08:40 PM

hossas got guts man

Posted by Crocosaur on February 19, 2009 at 01:54 AM

I would've rather seen Hudler and/or Franzen go, though the latter would've gotten mauled. Good to see a superstar like Hossa drop 'em every now and then...though will he now use the tie-down? The game was out of reach anyway, so it wasn't like him getting the game was a big deal.

Posted by gdameo on February 19, 2009 at 09:42 AM

I don't know if it's me but it looks like Suter wants no part of Hossa I mean it looks like he could easily beat him but he didn't really try to hit him that much? He let him off the hook. I can't read their mind but it looks like from my own eyes.

Posted by ghjkfdhgfd on February 19, 2009 at 04:03 AM

wow

Posted by ogie ogiltorpe on February 19, 2009 at 11:40 AM

ah yes! the tradition continues....Kocur....Probert....Hossa?

Posted by Sasky001 on February 19, 2009 at 08:04 PM

Good for Hossa. Suter is the worst fighter in the league.

Posted by Attackkk on February 18, 2009 at 11:11 PM

Franzen is a PUSS!!! he plays like he's a tough guy..then gets hit in the face and doesn't do nothing! at least the wings have hossa lol

Posted by detroitwings08 on March 27, 2009 at 06:14 PM

what was the point of that?

Posted by blackgoldfan on February 20, 2009 at 06:30 PM

LMAO! hossa? iu'll give him a W cause hes the only one that threw or landed a punch!!!

Posted by Towmater on February 19, 2009 at 11:52 AM

Points for Hossa for going, and landing a few. Suter loses points for the cheap shots at the end. Win Hossa (I can't believe I just wrote that)

Posted by BAAAAANNERMAAAN on February 19, 2009 at 09:25 AM

if you lose a fight to Hossa, you probably should get into them.......

Posted by Gunslinger on February 19, 2009 at 07:07 AM

Suter has entered my "Bitch Hall of Fame". Its bad enough he fights Hossa(lol) but does'nt even exploit it. What a jackass.

Posted by BSTnougat on February 19, 2009 at 09:16 PM

loved it..probably a draw but im giving it to Hossa cuz the Suter family sucks.

Posted by wuzzaman on February 18, 2009 at 11:59 PM

Usually I call these ones draws, but here I'm give the win to Hossa. Had he not fallen down it could've been a different story, and I think Suter probably would've taken him.

Posted by anusmonger on February 24, 2009 at 02:04 PM

w Hossa, i was at the game and he gets the nod cuz he was defending a cheap hit on Hudler earlier in the play. Hudler was on his knees and got hit from behind into the boards. it would have been sick if Jiri had been able to score on that break away after he got back into the play.

Posted by Behn Wilson on February 19, 2009 at 01:31 AM

If a guy named Marian is doing your fighting, you need to address your toughness issues. As a die-hard WIngs fan all the way back to Roy Edwards and Nick Libbett, I have to say...this is getting embarrassing. Hossa did ok for someone who's probaly never thrown a punch on skates before, and Suter's a puke, for the cheap ground shot at the end. And I thought saying ''win Crombeen'' was insane. Win Hossa! PS ''I can't remember your name'' guy... If my life depended on a hockey fight, and Behn Wilson, in his prime, wasn't available...I'd take Goddard over Orr in a heartbeat.

Posted by Belak_Norris on February 19, 2009 at 12:16 PM

Hossa looked better than I thought he would! I give the edge to Hossa... I was a big Red Wings fan until this year. I really do not like how they do things! Aaron Downey has a good year for them, makes other teams take them seriously and not constantly run their good players, and how do they reward Downey, they keep him in the minors for the season! Red wings are not going to go anywhere with the lineup they have! If they run into Calgary, Anaheim, San Jose, etc in the playoffs, they will get punished like little bit#hes! They need some toughness! Then players like Hossa wont have to fight!

Posted by bugner on April 08, 2009 at 09:57 PM

My daughter loved this fight, I must agree Hossa was a surprise, but he won

Posted by flamesfighter on March 09, 2009 at 01:49 PM

Well, suter just can't win if he doesn't throw any punches. It's a really good thing that hossa doesn't fight very often though, judging by the way he was throwing those soft, off-balance punches.

Posted by kmd19 on February 19, 2009 at 08:53 AM

Gotta love Hossa for dropping the gloves and doing well. He's doing it all this year with the Wings. Lots of spunk shown in this fight from a career goal scorer.

Posted by AVALANCHE FAN on February 19, 2009 at 02:48 PM

Edge to Hossa.

Posted by buchockey221 on February 19, 2009 at 12:24 PM

I thought if you didn't tie down your jersey you got a game???? Oh well hossa with the win. Props for attempting to did the visor

Posted by renaudh on February 19, 2009 at 04:13 AM

Hossa is true a Red Wings now.

Posted by Ryan44 on February 19, 2009 at 12:43 AM

Not a best fight in the whole world, but it was good one, 'cause you have to remember there was Hossa fighting. W Hossa.

Posted by stevkrause on February 19, 2009 at 08:53 AM

Great showing by Hossa - a non-fighter against the more experienced Sutter, had he had his strap tied down, he probably would have dropped him, he also got caught up trying to be honorable and losing the shield and Sutter cheaply swooped in on him while he was trying to take it off Win -Hossa for honor and landing more shots

Posted by mullet33 on February 19, 2009 at 05:02 PM

Win for Hossa - Suter should be embarresed - letting a non-fighter get the best of him.

Posted by Canadiens100 on February 19, 2009 at 01:32 PM

Hossa did pretty well. Detroit is one of the most exciting teams to watch. They are a power house and have won 4 Stanley Cups in the past 11years, dynasty like I would say. They have a great team made up of great players that know how to win. Expect a repeat this spring, they will win their 5th cup in 12 years.

Posted by echid on January 08, 2010 at 02:59 PM

How is Hossa winning this? Hossa never landed a punch, while Suter landed one at the end while taking him down. Win for Suter, but it was close.

Posted by ll Sgt Scope ll on March 02, 2009 at 02:01 PM

Draw Almost had a heart attack when I saw Hossa dropping the gloves though. Last thing our golden boy needs is to break his wrist.

Posted by Stevens Lindros on June 11, 2010 at 12:17 AM

Hossa by a hair.

Posted by JETTA KNIGHT on February 19, 2009 at 06:02 PM

Belak Norris, after those comments, you were never a Red Wings fan. you gave up on a Stanley Cup winner because they didn't keep a light-heavyweight on their roster? think of the years Detroit has won the cup. the team plays hard when they need to, not by fighting in the playoffs. good luck with your new team. and the rest complaining that someone on Detroit finally got in a fight after 30 games without one? and Suter pulled Hossa's jersey over his head and off.

Posted by deniskuzmic on February 19, 2009 at 05:25 AM

the only thing suter did is that he draged hossa down... nothing else

Posted by tattooedkingpin on February 18, 2009 at 11:48 PM

A thing of beauty. Maybe the other pussy Europeans on my Wings will get a fucking clue after this and quit pussing out everytime there challenged. Hudler and Franzen should be ashamed. Hossa gets the W all the way!

Posted by Bassen28 on February 19, 2009 at 12:00 PM

hossa fixed helmet...fag

Posted by PFLY64 on February 19, 2009 at 08:02 AM

Hossa fell as soon as Suter got a grip, convenience or cowardice, Detroit like Montreal has no "Honor" 2 of the dirtier teams in the league for running people and never being made to answer for it

Posted by killmachine on February 19, 2009 at 09:55 AM

Hossa did absolutly nothing..... he attempted which definetly counts for a player such as him. Aside from that throwing wild shots and not landing any doesn't count for shit. Suter had one good one and then Hossa was disassembled.....

Posted by Riley32 on February 19, 2009 at 01:52 PM

how can anyone say hossa won? he took off his clothes and punched the air...

Posted by firefightnchuck on February 19, 2009 at 11:57 AM

hossa was praying for that fight to stop

Posted by penguins own on February 02, 2011 at 12:57 PM

hossa loses cuz he tried to punch suter missed and fell down

Posted by sirjer on February 23, 2009 at 09:18 PM

Win for Suter,Redwings suck, will get bounced in first round

Posted by SharkTank19 on February 26, 2013 at 05:50 AM

Hossa is such a European bitch. Ruined Bryan Berard's Career.

Posted by JayMiller29 on February 20, 2009 at 10:45 AM

Great tactical move by Suter to Jersey Marian right away and get him the 10 Min Misconduct.....He knew there would be no tie down and he could eliminate a real scoring threat for quite a chunk....Other than that a sloppy , crappy fight by two guys that dont fight too often anyway. Nice to see Marian throw down though....

Posted by wings005 on February 24, 2009 at 06:30 PM

Hossa was great! but yea, where was downey on that one (in Grand Rapids), the wings need some fighters like they used to have, then their superstars wouldn't need to fight. Go Wings!

Posted by no123one on February 22, 2009 at 07:35 PM

Hossa's jersey came off giving Suter problems, but once he got a grip, he ragdolled Hossa until the ref's came in . Definite advantage to Suter

Posted by ShuterMcGav on February 19, 2009 at 07:33 PM

Screw Hossa and Screw the Red Wings

Posted by chad420 on February 19, 2009 at 07:42 PM

draw

Posted by 2probert4 on February 19, 2009 at 11:11 AM

I agree I would like to see McGratton in Detroit, but with his substance abuse issue, he won't be wearing red....Wing fans hope for McCarty, but he's not even close to what he used to be. I dont think we see him in the lineup again other than Grand Rapids.... They are wanting to have Leino, Helm and Abdelkader play in the playoffs....

Posted by poopies on February 19, 2009 at 03:50 PM

Hossa is a dickhole.

Posted by Rex from MN on February 19, 2009 at 03:03 PM

I grew up with Suter's dad and uncles in Madison and man were they tough. What happened to this generation? Maybe he was trying to do a Probert jersey shed? I doubt it. Draw. Seems like these days the whole fight is to see if they can get the other guy's visor off & keep their own on.

Posted by wing_nut33 on February 22, 2009 at 05:10 PM

hossa tried to get rid of the helmet, and suter started throwing punches then. low move. never really fought, hossa tried to throw, but suter kept his head so far away, nothing could land. hossa goes off-balance, and falls. suter jumps on top. not a fight

Posted by gmr133 on February 19, 2009 at 11:34 AM

That's just plain funny. But a good fight, by two guys who clearly have no idea what they're doing. At least Hossa seems pissed off and does something about it. Draw.

Posted by trombass08 on February 19, 2009 at 09:41 AM

Man, he doesn't fight much but Hossa really did well out there. Way better than Semin's bongo attempt earlier in the year.

Posted by Dave_42 on February 19, 2009 at 10:30 AM

I gave it a 10.

Posted by Boogeyman2383 on February 19, 2009 at 05:00 PM

Hossa landed the only punch of the fight. Gets the W. Suter fights like a little girl for hitting Hossa when he was down.

Posted by TheAsianator on February 19, 2009 at 04:41 PM

suter is overrated

Posted by AllDayAP on February 18, 2009 at 11:04 PM

nice cheapshot at the end, suter you douche

Posted by bigdog2007 on February 19, 2009 at 06:30 PM

Chick fight!!!

Posted by wannago_letsgo on February 19, 2009 at 10:07 AM

not too shabby really all things considered, and yeah, wayyyy better than Semin's slapping of Marc Staal.

Posted by chelifisch on February 18, 2009 at 10:58 PM

How do you let a player like Hossa swing away without punching back? I thought Suter could act like he could fight.

Posted by DARCY T on May 18, 2009 at 07:37 PM

hossa embarassed himself but he didnt lose neither.draw

Posted by chinmusic on February 19, 2009 at 02:36 PM

Suter threw two punches, the cheap shot with his glove on to start, and the jab at the end while Hossa was on the ice, how lame! Too bad his jersey came off, I suppose that's why it appears Suter just held on most of the fight. Where's Downey? Tell McCarty to take a hike and stay out of the radio booth! Win Hossa for throwing more punches, even though most were in the air.

Posted by europusswings on February 19, 2009 at 10:27 AM

Im gunna have to change my name!

Posted by boogie21 on October 02, 2009 at 09:50 AM

Win to Hossa, for bravery and for surprising Suter. This guy is gonna be a UFA and he doesn't even think about the possibility of been injured. Hossa's a team player and that's why he doesn't get the credit he owns.

Posted by tomales2 on February 20, 2009 at 02:56 AM

4 fights for Hossa in ten years! Sheesh, what's the world coming to? Not a bad scrap from two pacifists. Very slight edge to Hossa, I guess.
