Maximum frustration takes over and Kennedy makes a mistake. Pens need control and composure. No damage done here with regard to the fight. If any serious punches landed they were when Kennedy was on his back. Belak Norris, you are one sick person and should be baned from this site. Get help for yourself fast. No one thinks your cute, they know your sick.

mcb789, that's why the Bruins are in first, but this is supposed be comments on the fight, not fits of jealousy. DRAW. eddubbs and tpr1960 are just jealous of the Pens.

yeah drop your gloves with the smallest penguin on the ice, real tough guy. and to those who complain about a hit on a star player resulting in a fight you obviously no very little about hockey history. any time gretzky or Orr and other stars like that were touched, out came the enforcers. Two big unwritten rules in hockey 1: You don't let someone run your goalie. 2: You don't let someone hit your captain and or star player.

Nothing here. Just some cheap shots while TK was down. By the way MajorGroove, big hits, clean or not, will always equal a fight when a skill player of Malkin's magnitude is involved. It's not a bad idea because people may have that in the back of their heads when they have an option to hit Malkin or Cooke.

Posted by blackgoldfan on February 01, 2009 at 12:44 PM

cheap move by kennedy, sweet hit by schenn. weak fight also. this all adds up to a draw.

Posted by Tagga on February 01, 2009 at 01:43 PM

I give it a draw, mainly because Schenn is a giant compared to Kennedy, but couldn't even control the fight. Kennedy shouldn't have fought him in the first place though, leave the fighting to the boys that know how to.

Tyler Kennedy has some mojo to him for his size. Pens needed him back in the lineup. Clean hit from Schenn on Geno. However, you need to let guys know that running your stars is not going to go unnoticed. It is not like Godard went at him. Slight nod to the bigger Schenn for muscling TK down.

not a whole lot here

Not much happened, calling it a draw

Hehe, the kids go at it. I call this one a draw, and it was a pretty entertaining bout with both obviously wanting to win it and, luckily, not getting in it with an overcatious approach.

Schenn had a target on 'em after he crushed Malkin with a hit by the benches. After a line change a scrum started. Kennedy and Schenn break away and had a nice lil square-off. The fight was sloppy and wasn't much in punches landed. Schenn used his strength to wrestle Kennedy down. Kennedy got back up to throw a wild one that missed and then he was wrestled down again. -True, True. I'll give it to Schenn myself on 2nd view.

not too much going on in this fight.

Not much at all happening here.

listen i am getting sick of all these babies on here, whats wrong with what kennedy doing what he did.were on here cause we like fights..half of you u should not be saying a word.tyler is smaller and has guts and schenn did a good job and won thats it but all the other shit is crap

Posted by bruiseyoureye on February 01, 2009 at 12:48 PM

i give a disqualification to schenn for popping kennedy in his melon a couple times while kennedy was on the ice.....then kennedy popped back up and tried to keep going.....but a kennedy win since i disqualified schenn.....schenn what a pu**y boy move.....you will get yours coming down the road

Posted by EDDUBBS on February 01, 2009 at 08:54 AM

easy smack on kennedy. Someone should have CRUSHED Malkin through the boards. He is a major pussy just like fish lips crosby. Punk Central.

Posted by oilersfansylvan on February 02, 2009 at 01:11 AM

Holy crap a good hit and waaaaaaaaaaa poor Malkin. Hemsky takes twice the hit and gets up.......mind you I never liked Malkin anyways

Posted by pens08 on February 01, 2009 at 12:14 PM

as expected easy win for schenn with kennedy being much smaller. couple of cheap punches when kennedy was down. how the hell did schenn whoop him? yes he won but its not like he rag dolled kennedy beating him senseless.

Posted by legion31 on February 01, 2009 at 02:16 PM

clean and great hit by schenn!!.........kennedy wants to be malkin's mother?

Posted by moneybags on February 01, 2009 at 03:23 AM

shenn just overpowered him,,,

Posted by Humper on February 01, 2009 at 12:30 PM

Expected it to be No Contest, and it was. Kennedy probably got a kiss on his booboo from Malkin for jumping in like that, but what did he think would be the outcome?

Posted by lefthook25 on February 01, 2009 at 12:16 PM

Good clean hit by Schenn and he answered the bell. Thats what hockey is all about.

Posted by tleahey on February 01, 2009 at 02:49 AM

like how Kennedy tried to protect his team's star. The league doesn;t need hammondeggers taking runs at their star players. In the old NHL...a Penquin goon would have dismantled the Leafs best players. Justice has not been served here yet.

Posted by Behn Wilson on February 01, 2009 at 06:56 PM

Even though it was a clean hit, I like the fact that Kennedy gets so riled up about it on the bench, that he has go Hanson. The ''startage'' of play???

Posted by shrk33 on February 01, 2009 at 05:17 PM

You think Kennedy regrets coming out of the pile to fight Schenn? Not a great fight, but Schenn gets the best of him in the quick titl. Nice hit by Schenn on Malkin.

Posted by kevinstevens on February 01, 2009 at 12:36 PM

Probably not a "cheap shot" by Kennedy coming off the bench. It was more like a push. Schenn got him, but he's obviously a lot bigger. The Pens were simply frustrated. It was a clean hit, but who cares, there's lots of clean hits that have put players in the hospital. Just because it's a clean hit doesn't mean having to answer for it is out of the question. If the Leafs had a legit superstar, then I would expect the same out of them. That's hockey. Win Schenn

Posted by PastorJ on February 01, 2009 at 03:18 PM

One thing that nobody has mentioned is that Malkin never complained abou tthe hit. He knew it was clean. He just got back up and jumped into the play. Kennedy was clearly not on the ice and not even in the process of a change until after the whistle blew. Watch the video at the 1:16 mark. You'll see that the whistle has blown and everyone is heading back before Kennedy or anyone else from Pittsburgh comes on. Suspension is definitely coming. Oh yeah, win Schenn.

Posted by tylerfennell on February 01, 2009 at 01:48 AM

Kennedy will probably be suspended for coming off the bench to initiate a fight. He cheap shotted Schenn out of no where as Schenn was skating to the bench and then the two eventually squared off. Not much of a fight, but Schenn with the slight decision as he out muscled him and took him down a couple times. Huge hit by Schenn on Malkin, it's rediculous now, how if any player lays a solid clean hit on one of the team's top players then you automatically get attacked. Hitting is a part of hockey, and if it's a clean and good hard hit, then suck it up and keep on going with the game. I could understand if it was dirty, but it's getting rediculous this year how many times you see this happen in a game.

Posted by tattooedkingpin on February 01, 2009 at 10:37 AM

I glad Schenn put a whoopin on Kennedy. He deserves to be suspended for comming off the bench. W to schenn.

Posted by staceyb on February 01, 2009 at 01:16 PM

Atta boy Luke. You give Malkin a bump and Pittsburgh sends out Kennedy to fight. You handled him with ease.

Posted by Flyers32 on February 02, 2009 at 09:46 PM

does kennedy wipe malkin's ass for him, too?

Posted by Sasky001 on February 01, 2009 at 02:59 PM

Kennedy wanted to be a hero, picks a fight, and then you expect Schenn to let up when he starts winning? Nice try. If Malkin had gone after Schenn you could talk about the code.

Posted by tpr1960 on February 01, 2009 at 09:30 AM

What a little pussy Kennedy is , typical Pen , take away Godard and they are the biggest wimp team in the NHL . Great hit , and I am glad Schenn kicked Kennedys ass also . And I hate Toronto too .

Posted by alsport on February 03, 2009 at 11:31 PM

I'm surprised that none of the other Pens had the guts to go after Schenn, leaving Kennedy to do it. Kennedy was overmatched but at least he stood up for his teammate. I gave Schennt he win here but didn't count the punches he threw while Kennedy was down on the ice. And I agree...that was a classless comment by Belak Norris.

Posted by Hawksharley on February 01, 2009 at 09:52 AM

Kennedy did what he thought he had to, but when the dust settled he got demo'd by a younger, larger, stronger player. He wanted it.. he got it, but good.. He will get suspended for sure..

Posted by MajorGroove on February 01, 2009 at 06:37 AM

Like the mutual respect to throw off the lids but then Schenn goes and hits Kennedy when Kennedy is down. I don't see enough from Kennedy to warrant a draw. Schenn didn't dominate but gets my vote. Clean hit by Schenn to draw the fight. Hate how all hard checks = fights these days.

Posted by chad420 on February 01, 2009 at 06:35 PM

nice hit LS...hike up her skirt pens...win LS in a crappy1

Posted by CocoQuaker7 on February 02, 2009 at 02:38 PM

Not a great fight, but I give Kennedy credit for taking on a guy that's much bigger. Schenn gets the win, but it's not a great show. Good to see both guys ditch the helmets and visors.

Posted by wannago_letsgo on February 01, 2009 at 04:16 PM

great hit, bad fight

Posted by Oil Can Henry on February 01, 2009 at 11:16 PM

Don't touch the superstar! Nice job by Schenn - he took care of business. Now, see if Malkin pays for your suspension, kid.

Posted by piff133 on February 01, 2009 at 11:48 PM

Kennedy has got spunk, and when he fights he always just throws fists which makes it fun to watch, but this one was Schenn's. Had they stayed on their skates longer, it could have been much closer and much more interesting.

Posted by gmr133 on February 02, 2009 at 12:39 PM

Great hit by Schenn on Malkin. I thought Max Talbot might go with Schenn--not sure why Kennedy stepped up four inches and 35 lbs over his head. Guts for Kennedy. Nobody landed any punches--slip/takedown, but Kennedy gets back up. Draw.
