that hit was straight in the back close and good fight , whover gets the win at least theyre both swinging away

Posted by dcmac on November 26, 2008 at 11:33 PM

Stamkos better be careful. I'm sure the coach wasn't happy losing him for 5 minutes. No Roy, no O'Brien, not even a Janik or Tarnasky who's watching out for Tampa's skill player now adays anyway ? They also wavied Koci and are lucky to have him back. Something is wrong down South.

Draw in my eyes. both got in couple of good shots.

Posted by phatslover on November 26, 2008 at 10:43 PM

Called it a draw, but take down goes to Stamkos.

zherdev didnt like stamokos's hit and they got their 1st nhl fights...stamkos was more active but zherdev landed 2 best shots..i didnt like his take down attempt but that's probably a draw..or edge stamkos...and 6

Posted by ItalianHunk21 on November 29, 2008 at 12:27 PM

Draw... Good fight though.

Posted by cmshort11 on November 27, 2008 at 12:46 AM

What? Those two with a great scrap, thats classic.

Posted by DetroitIan on November 26, 2008 at 10:42 PM

Edge to Stamkos.

Posted by Crowdpleezr on November 26, 2008 at 11:03 PM

Glad to see Stamkos hit somebody. Also glad to see Zherdev get in Stamkos' face after the hit. That's spirited hockey. Stamkos gets the edge for the fight. I don't think he should quit his day job though. ~Crowdpleezr

Posted by Behn Wilson on November 27, 2008 at 06:36 PM

That was nervously funny. Great energy despite two guys fighting who were thinking, what the f am I doing? the whole time. Did the ''announcer'' actually refer to Stamkos as a goon?

Posted by billy jack on November 26, 2008 at 10:53 PM

the kid stamkos gave it to the older zherdev, stamkos is just sending a message for when they meet in country compitions, you dont puck with canada.but lose the visors next time, nicky started the scrap he should of flipped the lid before he went squirly.

Posted by Ryan44 on November 27, 2008 at 05:58 PM

Edge Stamkos. Why Zherdev had to take from Steven's trousers and end it? The start was good!

Posted by tnaveler on November 27, 2008 at 07:57 PM

Stammers shows he more then a just another pretty face. Lecavalier is teaching him how to be a all around player. Narrow edge to Steve. to all you haters out there, what are you thoughts on Vinny or Joe Thornton who took along time to develop. I want him to just go out there and work hard and it will all come together.

Posted by staceyb on November 27, 2008 at 06:39 AM

Sam Rosen almost swallowed the microphone in surprise--"What's this?!" Melrose would have liked to see Stamkos drop the gloves. He can fight.

Posted by smichaels10 on November 27, 2008 at 12:40 AM

It's nice to see the lightweights go every once in a while.

Posted by huddles on November 26, 2008 at 10:55 PM

stamkos with win

Posted by tpr1960 on November 28, 2008 at 09:55 PM

Another Ranger gets whooped , what else is new . If it wasn't for Colton {Donald Brashears personal punching bag} Orr , they would get run out of the rink every night !

Posted by mcb789 on November 26, 2008 at 11:11 PM

i wish sam rosen would stop snapping on hockey fights. for over 20 years he has been putting down hockey fights. by the way that was a good fight between 2 non fighters. sam rosen voice ruin yet another fight.

Posted by TheAsianator on November 26, 2008 at 11:27 PM

Give Stamkos the slight edge

Posted by sunking1 on March 08, 2011 at 08:34 PM

Steven Stamkos not even a fighter vs Nikolai Zherdev who has more expericence than stamkos with two fights in his career one with Sarina one right here i got to give it to stammer but no doubt in my mind they should both be winnners but stamkos needs to step up his game because i heard that his is gripping the stick to hard

Posted by Jordybats99 on December 30, 2015 at 10:03 PM

Okay Fight Considering the two of them are not fighters.

Posted by blazers76 on November 27, 2008 at 01:25 PM

Nice little tussel here. Nice to see a fight that was started because of emotion. Stamkos undefeated for his career!! LOL

Posted by Chaotic8 on November 27, 2008 at 12:05 PM

Good to see Stamkos do something else other than not score points.

Posted by mike563 on November 27, 2008 at 08:11 PM

Got to give zherdev credit he hung in there edge to stamkos

Posted by tattooedkingpin on November 27, 2008 at 09:40 AM

Stamkos gets the W. He had more fire in his punches

Posted by Shappa on November 26, 2008 at 10:31 PM

SKILL PLAYERS punching... EACH OTHER! THEY WEAR SHIELDS JOE! Give it to Shirley Stamkos though. A lot better than I thought he'd be, even if it was Zherdev.

Posted by CairnsIsGod33 on November 27, 2008 at 01:30 AM

Zherdev needs to stick to scoring. Stamkos lands a good shot and Zherdev just went after him and just got handled by the rookie.

Posted by spiderj on November 26, 2008 at 11:57 PM

Tough to score because both kept helmets on. Zherdev went hunting for Stamkos and the 18 year old held his own well. Slight edge to Stamkos.

Posted by kevindman9 on November 27, 2008 at 09:42 AM

good job rookie, stamkos all the way

Posted by bigty on November 27, 2008 at 10:21 AM

Stamkos lands a flurry of rights that stuns the ruskie. For all of you retards dissing on Stamkos, hes the #1 overall pick in the world and as a pure scorer coulda played it like Crosby and waited three years to drop the gloves. Instead he manned up and took the risk as a rookie.

Posted by CLARKvMcSORLEY on November 28, 2008 at 11:14 AM

Win Stamkos- but Zherdev was good- excellent first bout for both!

Posted by shauny2k3 on November 29, 2008 at 06:36 PM

Go Stamkos!

Posted by Johnny8242 on November 27, 2008 at 12:03 PM

Stamkos with the advantage but a close bout. Very surprising fight.

Posted by IrishBrawler on November 26, 2008 at 10:42 PM

Fighting with face shields= 2 girly boys fighting over the Jonas Bros. tickets.

Posted by no123one on November 27, 2008 at 12:08 PM

Great hit, great fight by Stamkos!

Posted by prorobo on November 26, 2008 at 11:28 PM

Stamkos landed more and gets the win. It's nice to see a No. 1 overall draft pick that isn't afraid to stand up for himself. And while Zherdev is a very good player, if you're going to turn away from the incoming player putting yourself in a vulnerable position, then get mad when you get hit, wait to get him back cleanly. Don't pull this go after and fight bs. It's shit like this that is bad for the game. Enforcers going out to fight/defend their teammates after a clean hit? Give me a break! Okay, rant over. Good fight.

Posted by the_gritty_one on November 27, 2008 at 09:24 PM

Hold crap, stfu about the visors.. Goodness gracious

Posted by aj99ny on November 28, 2008 at 10:33 PM

Good to see Zherdev sticking up for himself plus he landed a few, but went right for the takedown

Posted by rangersofsweden on November 27, 2008 at 09:30 AM

Very close one but i think Zherdev made more damage to Stamkos cause he got cut in the face. Zherdev win!

Posted by NYRangers30 on November 29, 2008 at 08:18 PM

Zherdev landed one early and it stung Stamkos

Posted by mvmuck on February 11, 2009 at 10:40 PM

Zherdev is not a fighter but he will in his time of need Zherdev win

Posted by [email protected] on November 29, 2008 at 12:37 AM

Rare in the NHL today (or any time) to see two skilled, play makers fight. Great bout considering the fact that neither of them fight.

Posted by plum29 on November 27, 2008 at 01:03 AM

awesome scrap, can't believe that Zherdev and Stamkos went at it. and Zherdev with the win, landed straight rights to Stamkos. what is going on? Hanzal, Toews, now Stamkos and Zherdev??? gotta love it...

Posted by tomales on November 27, 2008 at 02:42 AM

lol

Posted by PICKLEHAMMER on November 27, 2008 at 10:21 AM

Good to see those guys trow em.

Posted by hrngmprd on November 27, 2008 at 09:09 AM

Stamkos threw the better punches.

Posted by bam932 on November 26, 2008 at 11:08 PM

Surprisingly good tilt. Stamkos with the clear edge.

Posted by wannago_letsgo on November 27, 2008 at 10:56 AM

what the hell was that all about? not a bad fright in the end though edge to Stamkos with the bulk of the punches thrown and the take down, can't say anything bad about Zherdev for getting it going after the hit either. Really though? Stamkos and Zherdev?

Posted by marinermoose38 on November 27, 2008 at 04:19 PM

It's nice to see the lightweight go. No appointment here, just a good, hard-fought, emotional tussle. Edge Stamkos I say.

Posted by b.t.wilson on November 26, 2008 at 10:15 PM

Ha haaa good fight! That was a bad hit, I'm glad Zherdev went back after him. Stamkos maybe landed a couple more and I didn't care much for that great big leg takedown. Edge Stamkos, but a good fight.
