Other Penalties: McKeown received an instigator, and instigator misconduct; Weegar a boarding
Ha ha .Pathetic!
Not much here...Not much of a boarding call either. Go suck an egg Pee Wee Bettman. McKeown early...Weegar late...draw.
I don't think either guy did enough to get the edge. Draw.
I am just hopeful NEXT season will show an marked improvement in fighting skills. A dreadful draw and a 3.
McKeown needs to change his number. Not representing the double nickels very well at all.
not really a vicious or dirty check by Weegar ..... players need to avoid skating toward the boards face first and turn instead as they play the puck and contact the boards...... As per the fight ... a 2
Fight after a hit...boooooooringgggg. They should eliminate the instigator, but instead give an additional 2 & a 10, for any player avenging a clean hit.
The rookie McKeown comes to the defense of a teammate but, ultimately comes up short against Weegar. Call it a 3 and a surprise bout from the Hurricanes.
So close to the Sean Avery Hat Trick. Yes, McKeown got the instigator/misconduct. Yes, McKeown lost the fight. But that's not enough. In order to award a SAHT, there must be a butt-hurt component that is missing here. Typically the hit in question being "avenged" was clean or possibly the instigation was itself a blatant cheap shot. I'm just not shaking my head and saying "WTF" nearly enough for that. Sorry.
In total I give the win to Weegar, but I give McKeown credit. The Panthers are a very big fighting team and lead the league in fighting majors, whereas the hurricanes are a young team that are in the bottom 3 in the league of fighting majors. Weegar is a better fighter who gets the win because of his size and fighting skill.
Twice Weegar could have laid into McKeown and backed off to respect the code. Weegar still gets the win
Roland McKeown not Joe
