Clean hit Unnecessary response Unqualified avenger Karmic injustice Using the latest "Humperistic" analytics I sense a pattern slash problem

Posted by mikebflorida on October 23, 2014 at 09:06 AM

How can it NOT be interference if Coots never had the puck? Opportunistic and clean hit but has to be a penalty there. Crap fight and a draw. What are you people watching? Stop listening to these moron blabber mouth announcers.

the hit looked like an elbow to the head umberger responded but got clocked

non-fighters fighting smh. Looks like Despres was in the process of leaving his feet. Play the puck not the man?

Horrible. Draw.

Nothing here folks so draw!

Naw. The hit was Couturier's problem. Interference only because the puck was gone. 2 missed punches and nothing! BLAH!

Posted by bigmike53 on October 23, 2014 at 02:02 AM

The hit was clean. The fight that followed was uneventful and a Draw.

nice hit. the commercials on hockeyfights.com are disgusting, that wire looking guy is not what people want be.

Flyers never should have traded Hartnell for Umberger.........Idiots!!!...Weak win Despres.

Posted by boldbilly on October 22, 2014 at 11:28 PM

Yes it was interference but In truth sometimes when you try to avoid a hit like couturier does here it ends up worse....... Umberger or is it Dumberger looks like a jerk here and loses in a fight that I scored a 2

Posted by CG3 on October 22, 2014 at 10:11 PM

Interference but a clean hit, then win Despres. Must feel he has to replace Engelland this season with two fights already.

The NHL is really getting pathetic....ANOTHER non-fight.....

Posted by fentonhardy on October 23, 2014 at 09:06 PM

Elbowing. Non fight. Lucky for Despres that Rinaldo or Simmonds weren't on the ice at the time.

Posted by hipcheckCHI on October 24, 2014 at 10:14 PM

Despres with the drive by, Umberger shows that the best way to get retribution on behalf of a teammate is to get your butt kicked by the same guy. Not much, but what there was, was Despres.

i think it wouldnt be fair to call it just a draw so its edge despres

Keep it up my flyers let rosey sit in minors I'll even take sort in I the continuation of making NHL into sissy league

That looked like a chicken wing on the hit -- although it missed his head

Posted by Massive Coiler on October 23, 2014 at 04:56 PM

Great hit, lame fight. Despres with the win.

Beautiful hit! 'nuff said.

Again, if you are going to "take up" for your teammate, you need to win the fight (at least make a solid showing). Again, a good hit and a "take up" ends up with 2 teammates laying on the ice. This does not scare anyone and is a disservice to your team and the game. Way to join the club RJ.

Some emotion from the Flyers...(Albeit misguided but, thats a start) Umberger overreacted and nothing really happened... Undeserved Gordie Howe Hat Trick for Umberger

Posted by shawnrocks on October 22, 2014 at 09:37 PM

clean hit

Posted by nait on October 22, 2014 at 09:33 PM

should have been an elbowing call

Posted by sedinfan on October 23, 2014 at 01:08 AM

Nothing I enjoy more than seeing someone get tuned in after they try to take revenge on a clean hit. Too bad Umberger didn't really get beat up, as he deserved it.

Posted by Humper on October 22, 2014 at 09:34 PM

As seems to be the trend so far this season, he who defends the honor of a wronged teammate winds up on the losing end. I really liked Despres' hit, although it would have been better if Couturier had possession of the puck. BTW, Umberger deserved an instigator as well as the minor beatdown.

Posted by emasino69 on October 23, 2014 at 11:36 AM

Clean hit....no fight, just a "hey your guy put a good hit on our guy, I got to make it look like we ain't going to take that kinda stuff"....draw

Posted by doobi1 on October 23, 2014 at 12:57 PM

What a hit and a clean one at that, by Despres. Umberger did the right thing by coming to the defense of a teammate who just had his bell rung. However, Despres handled it and Umberger too. Winner-Despres. Hey Philly, did you know that Umberger is from Pittsburgh? He did what we do at home here. You're lucky to have him.
