Glass early, Asham late. Solid draw.

Posted by fernben8 on January 20, 2013 at 10:13 PM

Greetings to all and it feels good to be back... Good fight. Very close on the score card. Will call it a Draw. Looked like Asham is still a little out of shape (easy for me to say from behind the laptop ), though Glass looked quite good and throwing them nicely.

Posted by Max Talbot on January 20, 2013 at 08:26 PM

Pretty nice one, but Glass got off a good flurry at the very beginning and kind of buckled Asham, so I give the fight to Tanner. Kudos to both of them for getting it on at the drop of the puck.

Posted by Slayer1940 on January 20, 2013 at 07:46 PM

Good middleweight fight.

Posted by lcp_bradly on January 20, 2013 at 07:50 PM

Super Good fight both landed a lot of punches. Got to hand it to asham for getting up from one knee and taking punches off balance to come back and give to to glass.

Posted by niftyweave on January 20, 2013 at 08:19 PM

Glass won that fight, no question

Posted by Walt on January 21, 2013 at 01:19 PM

I've never been much of a Glass fan but he acquitted himself well in this one. Good spirited draw.

Posted by cossack757 on February 03, 2013 at 06:28 PM

Who is Tanner Glass? Asham is one of my favorites, however this kid (Glass) looked pissed. Asham looked good in the middle of bout. Giving this a draw.

Posted by FightMonster75 on January 21, 2013 at 11:31 AM

I call it a dead even draw. I will agree with some posts that Asham wasnt at the sharpest for this fight but a great way to start the season for both.

Posted by Custombreaks on January 20, 2013 at 08:21 PM

Glass tried to jump Asham but didn't quite succeed. Asham needed that tilt to get tuned up for Wednesday against the Bruins MVP Greg Campbell and his Daddys Referees.

Hard! Like an erection denting the side of your car.

Posted by Canucks420 on January 21, 2013 at 03:41 PM

Great fight, two of my favourite players in the conference these two. Glass taking Asham's spot in Pitt, and Asham taking Prust's for NYR, I think we'll be seeing a rematch of this one somewhere down the line. I score it a draw with props to both guys for putting on a good one. Bravo!

Posted by staceyb on January 22, 2013 at 05:41 AM

Spirited to say the least, which is more than you can say about the Rangers last night. With the drop of the puck Asham has now officially played for all five Atlantic Division teams, though he came up in the Canadiens organization--good journeyman player, tough as nails.

Posted by CairnsNYI33 on January 22, 2013 at 08:04 AM

.02 seconds?! what took so long? Islanders/Lightning had 2 fights at .01 second. DRAW.

Posted by Andros666 on January 20, 2013 at 07:53 PM

Good way to get it out of their system.

Posted by JSCOTTISTHEBOSS on January 20, 2013 at 10:39 PM

Arron Asham is a heavyweight in a middleweight's body. Never backing down from even the game's toughest pugilist's. Can actually play the game too and is all heart, as well. This clearly was a draw, but make no mistake that 'A.A.' will win much more scraps than he ever loses.

Posted by FistofFury on January 23, 2013 at 12:24 AM

Solid draw. Hopefully they go again this year.

Posted by 24kokanee on January 20, 2013 at 10:33 PM

Good hard working blue color fight

Posted by pitthull on January 21, 2013 at 09:24 AM

Lots of spirit -- Glass goes to town early -- Asham stays with it to the end. Scoring it a draw though if I had to pick one, it would likely be Glass for the early flurry.

Posted by bruins rule on January 21, 2013 at 05:59 PM

gave this a draw

Posted by sedinfan on January 21, 2013 at 12:38 AM

Great fight, somone called this a boring draw. If this was boring, i would hate to see how you rate most of the actual boring ones. Have to call it a draw with two guys going toe to toe like that.

Posted by drew2colleen on March 06, 2013 at 10:03 PM

Pretty close, I think Asham got a few more in.

Posted by kinga101 on January 21, 2013 at 10:25 PM

This was a good one between two evenly matched fighters. Glass early and Asham late for a draw.

Posted by koolpunch on January 20, 2013 at 11:47 PM

Great fight. Lucky for both, some big misses.

Posted by Roadglide on January 21, 2013 at 07:29 AM

thought Glass would have been destroyed...gave it a draw

Posted by delneggs on January 20, 2013 at 08:14 PM

Good tilt with both giving and taking shots. Draw.

Posted by Jack o on January 20, 2013 at 07:40 PM

Good action. Draw

Posted by pvdrummer2000 on January 22, 2013 at 02:42 AM

Nice evenly matched scrap. No clear winner but a decent fight.

Posted by BigBriSandor on January 21, 2013 at 09:47 AM

Good fight.

Posted by rsawchuk1 on January 22, 2013 at 11:47 AM

Best fight of the opening weekend IMO. Very even with good blows landed by both sides. I'm calling it a draw

Posted by clane on February 16, 2013 at 06:34 PM

Good long fight - not alot of direct hits - these guys didn't want the fight to end anytime soon

Posted by crashandbang on January 24, 2013 at 08:16 PM

Great tilt boys!!!! Love the tap at the end by both combatants:) I would call this a draw and I'm a huge Pens fan, love Arron Asham, wish he was still in the Burgh. Calling it a draw and an 8.

Posted by tyrone on January 21, 2013 at 01:08 PM

Not sure who won, but what I will say is Asham is the ugliest player in the NHL.

Posted by BooSanta on January 25, 2013 at 05:33 PM

Great to see Smash'em always showing up somewhere in the East. Here he's taking on his last team. Glass doesn't allow the distinctive Smashem pose to begin the fight and goes to town early. Smashem battles back with some jawbreakers but Glass holds on and keeps it from being decisive. A fine knock of the knuckles if I must say so.

Posted by EdNo on January 21, 2013 at 09:06 AM

Solid draw... Asham started out with the Habs, so i've always hated him, but i would love the guy if he wore the spoked "B"... impressed by Glass though. Good fight

Posted by hellawaits77 on January 22, 2013 at 09:34 AM

Draw. Glass definately had the advantage early on, but Asham evened things out in the middle. Good bout.

Posted by Chet the Jet on January 20, 2013 at 11:02 PM

Very entertaining bout by two very tough customers not afraid to throw with both hands. Glass early, Asham late. Solid draw.

Posted by BoilerUp88 on January 20, 2013 at 10:01 PM

Draw. Good Fight. Possibly slight edge to Asham. Both landed good punches and neither wanted to quit.

Posted by Kordic64 on March 29, 2013 at 09:40 PM

That was some anger in those punches. Always good to see. Draw

Posted by sullyinboston on January 20, 2013 at 08:03 PM

Great fight good distance solid punches all around great match

Posted by bammer24 on January 21, 2013 at 12:26 AM

Posted by Blankshell on January 21, 2013 at 10:59 AM

Yea glass got of a good flurry in the begginging however asham came back after that and I think landed for punches... Good scrap!

Posted by TheBigB246 on January 21, 2013 at 08:14 PM

Draw. Glass early then Arron Asham late. Pretty good scrap

Posted by cmsmith1331 on January 23, 2013 at 01:42 PM

Good fight very close. I'm a Rangers fan so tough to call for me..gave it a draw

Posted by Kenora Thistles on March 06, 2013 at 03:20 AM

These two rarely disappoint

Posted by Bostonslugfest on January 20, 2013 at 11:19 PM

Middle Weights huh? id love to know what makes the weight classes. people say Shawn Thornton is a heavyweight when he himself is only like 205 lol. either way this was a great fight, not many punches landed tho thank god for their faces

Posted by ghjkfdhgfd on January 21, 2013 at 12:04 AM

Posted by nycbob on January 21, 2013 at 09:03 AM

Asham didn't get set early. I think he'll kill glass next time

Posted by Bear72 on January 21, 2013 at 09:00 AM

Clear concise win for Asham

Posted by rwb31 on January 24, 2013 at 11:46 PM

Asham don't really know who the hell was watching with Asham losing?

Posted by edmundo on January 21, 2013 at 02:31 AM

winner is Asham - no doubt

Posted by pepsigenerate on January 21, 2013 at 10:49 AM

asham with a good right at the 20-21 second mark and at the 39-40 sec mark, Asham being more the aggressive one..tanner throwing some but uneffective

Posted by slavv on January 21, 2013 at 09:40 PM

Both did well. Edge Asham....

Posted by NYRfightfan on March 04, 2013 at 10:17 AM

High vote may have to do with this being the 2nd game of the season for these teams, but as a Ranger fan I was definitely entertained by this one.

Posted by BrianBro53 on January 20, 2013 at 10:08 PM

Great middleweight bout and we'll probably get to see this again a couple of times this season. The "w" goes to Asham though in a real close decision

Posted by Corkbrain on February 06, 2013 at 01:25 PM

A killer scrap, Montreal had Asham as a rookie, only to piss him away. I give Arron the victory, and Tanner is decently tough, I forsee another exchang in the future.

Posted by devsfan87 on January 21, 2013 at 10:18 PM

real good fight between two midleweights. Lots of punches. Asham gets the slight edge

Posted by brazos on January 22, 2013 at 04:17 PM

At regular speed it looked like Asham was connecting, at super slo mo only one or two landed while Glass had several that landed flush. good scrap but a Win for Glass. Can't see why anyone would vote for Asham most if not all of his punches hit Glass on the upper arm or on the back of his shoulder. At regular speed Asham is firing away and it looks good but it really didn't do much.Glass would turn his head and the ones that got over his shoulder did not connect with any force.

Posted by mmadced on January 21, 2013 at 10:55 AM

glass kicks his ass

Posted by joe the boss 63 on January 23, 2013 at 05:48 AM

all right

Posted by Joe Mack on January 24, 2013 at 01:19 PM

extremely slight edge to glass. EXTREMELY.

Posted by Don Berry on January 21, 2013 at 08:00 AM

Def a Glass win there. Great that hockey is back. Sid the Kid looks a little rusty!

Posted by bigpucks on January 22, 2013 at 11:55 AM

Nice showing for Glass because Ash is a bad man. There will be many more of these.

Posted by pbortzrealtor on January 22, 2013 at 08:06 AM

Glass slight win.

Posted by Ez2confuze on January 21, 2013 at 06:03 AM

Asham is a tough gritty guy, and an ok fighter, for Glass to keep up with him was impressive. I think Glass got more connects in the beginning. Almost a draw, but an ever so slight edge to Glass.

Posted by shawn46 on January 20, 2013 at 09:15 PM

Let me say I have been a Double A fan forever.... wherever he was (even Philthy)... and not a Glass fan at all... but I got to give this one to Glass... from the first crumple till the end.. good tilt!

Posted by BuzzKD911 on January 21, 2013 at 10:42 AM

Glass got him early. Not much happenned late. Slight edge to TG.

Posted by mudman55 on January 21, 2013 at 03:38 PM

Gotta give it to Glass by the slightest of margins- had a strong grip on Asham for the first minute or so. Lots of haymakers (most missed), and respect at the end. And I'm glad to be back to read the rants and raves- I've missed them, and it has been way too long.

Posted by ironbar44 on January 20, 2013 at 08:07 PM

GLASS by a slight edge, landed heavy early .ASHAM nice come back .comes up just short

Posted by nait on January 21, 2013 at 08:44 PM

Glass barley. Not like Asham at all

Posted by DARCY T on January 21, 2013 at 05:20 PM

i know that glass is tough but im surprised anyway how easily he won vs asham this time

Posted by RV_camper on January 22, 2013 at 10:38 AM

Spirited long bout. Credit to both, edge to glass

Posted by PA GI Joe on January 20, 2013 at 10:20 PM

Pretty sweet fight. Enjoyed Asham in PIT and was sorry to see him go, but I think Glass got the better of him here, even with Asham's late rally. Solid punches landed, but I don't think anyone got hurt...they kept the energy going until the end and wrapped it up with a respectful tap on the noggin.

glass with the edge. great fight!!!

Posted by jnblose on January 20, 2013 at 10:35 PM

A draw or slight edge to Glass... he definitely pummeled him early, but seemed to get a little tired. Good fight!

Posted by CJMBC on January 24, 2013 at 07:28 AM

good all round fight but i think Glass just takes it for me.

Posted by dg33garcia on January 21, 2013 at 10:36 AM

That was a beauty....... Give Glass the slight win.

Posted by YorkAve on January 24, 2013 at 09:11 AM

Posted by rturn2 on January 21, 2013 at 03:06 AM

Good fight...slight edge to Glase.

Posted by Mrmom on January 21, 2013 at 12:18 AM

I won't be a homer I say....glass the extra couple of punches landed...think he surprised our newest protector. Great fight.

Posted by jnk07899 on January 20, 2013 at 10:13 PM

Holy wow!! This has a chance to be the best fight of the year. What a scrap. Until I saw the replay, I marked it a draw, after seeing Glass on top in the beginning, I gave the edge to him. Glass wins... Barely.

Posted by ETA on January 21, 2013 at 12:21 PM

Was sad to see Asham leave the Pens in the off season and found it hard to root against him here. Glass does better than in their last dustup for sure but got to go with a solid draw. Great fight and nice to see the mutual respect.

Posted by chad420 on January 21, 2013 at 11:13 AM

Spirited draw

Posted by mike2323 on January 22, 2013 at 05:06 AM

Draw and a nice, long scrap.

Posted by FHgrad99 on January 21, 2013 at 12:03 AM

Good middleweight scrap here. Both landed some quality shots. I can't pick a winner here. Draw and a very solid 7 from me. Glass got introduced to the Pens/Rangers rivalery early on in this one against a guy who used to be on the other side of it.

Posted by kkdowning on January 21, 2013 at 11:06 AM

Draw -- that is the way it is done -- respect for one another after the fight was over (better than what Asham did after he crushed Jay Beagle)

Posted by SouthPaw017 on January 21, 2013 at 05:00 AM

Great fight, good sportsmanship.... Very surprised the helmets didn't come off at the start. Draw all the way.... I see CustomBrokeback now excited to invite his new enforcer Kassian up to the tent for some quality alone time... You go girl!

Posted by samtheman on January 21, 2013 at 04:28 PM

Glass early but Asham came on late in a spirited draw.

Posted by wzc32798 on January 20, 2013 at 11:10 PM

Good fight Tanner was on him early but Asham got some good shots in at the end I'll say a draw

Posted by travist on January 21, 2013 at 01:13 AM

that's how you do it boys!

Posted by perezj on January 21, 2013 at 07:13 AM

Asham landed the better and harder blows.

Posted by TrueBlue26 on January 21, 2013 at 04:04 PM

Never thought id be voting for asham nor root for him but since hes in blue ill respect it.

Posted by grocerystick on January 20, 2013 at 11:32 PM

Love to see these guys start the game off with a bang...

Posted by Madhouse27 on January 21, 2013 at 04:38 PM

Hats off to both guys in this one. Giving Glass the slight edge here, but would certainly rather have Asham on my team if I got to pick one of them.

Posted by Bob Probert 24 on January 21, 2013 at 08:20 AM

good bout...traded some good shots toward the end of the fight.

Posted by STL13 on January 21, 2013 at 02:16 AM

Draw....nice preview of the newcomer Glass. Asham held his own though...

Posted by Big_Fat_Dan on January 21, 2013 at 01:45 AM

Giving it a draw, Glass had a good showing there, tough customer.

Posted by esoteric106 on January 20, 2013 at 08:06 PM

About the only way your going to see Asham fight a penguin this year is glass good fight though

Posted by fenians79 on January 21, 2013 at 12:34 PM

Not bad...couple good shots exchanged but nothing to decide a winner either way....draw.

Posted by Fourinarow on January 21, 2013 at 12:05 AM

Love A.A. but you gotta land to win! Early edge by Glass not relinquished in an evenly matched tilt.

Posted by Oil Can Henry on January 20, 2013 at 09:36 PM

...I can see where the linesmen are gonna' be the main focus of all the fights once, again --- this one sucked, anyway -- just, a crappy draw,...

Posted by RangersSuck NJD on January 20, 2013 at 07:44 PM

Great fight, with glass killing it in the beginning and asham coming back strong at the end.

Posted by Sasky001 on January 20, 2013 at 08:42 PM

Asham is washed up if he can't beat up this ex-Canuck.
