ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZenon with a boring win

Posted by Double Nickels on January 11, 2012 at 01:51 PM

What did Rinaldo do to piss off the linesmen? They were just gonna let him take a pounding.

Posted by The DZA on January 09, 2012 at 08:17 AM

The Raccoon suit in Super Mario Bros 3 was badass The Teddy Bear suit, not so much.

Posted by The Mob on January 09, 2012 at 09:01 PM

Didn't Rinaldo have his own Jerry Springer type show going? He should have stuck with it.

Posted by hkhk on January 08, 2012 at 09:33 PM

flyers have no toughness this kid another punching bag ,has guts but hes a batam weight here .. these arent my flyers of the past thats for sure . need someone to protect claude thsi kid isnt the answer ..the dress harry zolneick plays whole 4 mins usually tell me shelley or another tough guy cant do that ..

Posted by glovesdroppa on January 08, 2012 at 06:32 PM

as much as a whooping as can happen in a fight where no decent punch landed. jackass win konopka, nice try but boring fight

Posted by mudman55 on January 09, 2012 at 07:40 AM

I'm sure the pregame discussion was about Zenon's wine business. Doing a little marketing. "I've got a great 2009 Malbec you should try, Zac."

Posted by ObmaBlowz on January 08, 2012 at 08:50 PM

Nothing....props to Rinaldo for going after anyone.

Posted by Freek on January 09, 2012 at 03:45 PM

Konopka got all the solid hits and the takedown

Posted by Behn Wilson on January 08, 2012 at 11:08 PM

Even in losing... which happens more often, than not... Rinaldo still manages to maintain his likability factor..

Posted by DARCY T on January 09, 2012 at 04:50 AM

win konopka.rinaldo landed the best punch though

Posted by Jflah53 on January 09, 2012 at 05:45 PM

Not a big fan of either one BUT, Konopka the winner here pretty easily. Always like it when a FLYER gets the short end of the stick , er, punch. If any one or team deserves it, the Flyers do ............................ Just kidding !!!!!

Posted by scorp1on on January 10, 2012 at 07:50 AM

Barely a middle-weight contender, Konopka nonetheless shows his experience here against a game Flyer who frankly would be the third or fourth guy in line to fight if we had ANY kind of toughness at all on this team. We better get deep into the playoffs to make up for this season's many embarassing scraps. Berube, Carkner, Chychrun, Cochrane... there's more toughness in the first three letter of the alphabet than the whole of the current Philly and Adirondack rosters.

Not an embarrassing loss for Rinaldo to an old warhorse but an L just the same. That uppercut at the opening rattled the grill. You'd figure with Carkner, Neil and Planet Zenon in the lineup that Peter Laviolette would have skated Shelley for the home and home road game but not so.

Posted by rmagiske on January 12, 2012 at 01:13 PM

What is Laviolette doing ?;;;trying to get Rinaldo killed;;;the kid is a scrapper,, but he is no fighter..Why is Shelly on the team,,if he is n't going to play...Bring Sestito up to handle the fighting...What a joke....

Posted by fernben8 on January 08, 2012 at 09:12 PM

ZK just too big and too strong for Zac. Easy for me to say but can't help feel the slip/fall by Rinaldo was a self assissted bail out...

Posted by sedinfan on January 08, 2012 at 09:34 PM

Getting hammered by Konopka is nothing to be proud of.

Posted by Nick_Fotiu on January 10, 2012 at 08:16 AM

Rinaldo, who apparantly gained some false confidence after a draw with a 20- year old rookie from chicago, bites off a bit more than he can chew with Z. ouch.

Posted by GreatMurray on January 09, 2012 at 07:31 AM

This fight makes no sense. Rinaldo is no Tie Domi...he can't go with the biggest guy he sees. Real mismatch here. Zman ragged dolls him and pummels his for a 2 point round.

Posted by KnockoutDan on January 08, 2012 at 08:34 PM

Easy win for Konopka...... He used Rinaldo for a punching bag. And for the ones that said that Daniella Briere won his fight agains Turris, what were those scars on his face 24 hours after the fight.

Posted by Custombreaks on January 09, 2012 at 09:50 PM

Konopka is a Honourable dude who doesn't take dirty cheap shots on a vulnerable opponent...unlike those tainted Cup winning scum from BeanyTown,

Posted by concrete447 on January 08, 2012 at 08:33 PM

Rinaldo keeps steppin up to the plate, it's not Z's fault he's bigger. Z grabbing the guys helmet and not removing his is dirt.

Posted by ResIpsaHoquitir on January 09, 2012 at 10:29 PM

I SHAW did enjoy seeking ZAK get jacked. Karma and retribution are both swift and appropriate here.

Posted by lbachand on January 09, 2012 at 01:59 PM

Zenon finally wins a fight.....against a smaller guy! Not a big fan of Rinaldo but he answered the challenge.

Posted by zolofarm on January 09, 2012 at 10:26 AM

Konopka dominates fight. Marks to Rinaldo to dropping but he seems out of his league here.

Posted by atflyers on February 07, 2012 at 04:38 PM

Rinaldo has been a perfect addition to the Flyers. A young, energetic skater who's always willing to take (and occasionally give) a beating from/to anyone in the NHL to pump up his team. Sad to see him lose this rematch.

Posted by Mounty in NC on February 02, 2013 at 10:13 AM

Rinaldo should just give up....he's 0-2 now against Konopka

Posted by Ty00 on April 04, 2012 at 12:39 PM

And they call these guys the Broad St. bullies, I can think of another B word that would be a little more suitable than bullies.

Posted by matsmell on January 09, 2012 at 02:17 PM

size matters

Posted by Sasky001 on January 09, 2012 at 08:19 PM

Unfortunately Zac is from Hamilton. If he was from a more prosperous city he would not have to fight for a living.

Posted by hughcares on January 09, 2012 at 01:56 PM

Konopka actually wins a fight. I guess after haivng to play in a sh!tty city like Ottawa for the last 4 months would be enough to p!ss me off as well. Christine Neil got so excited by the fight he started jerking off on the bench.

Posted by bruins rule on January 09, 2012 at 08:58 AM

konopka gets the win.

Rare convincing win for Konopka. He doesn't seem to win many but this one he does. Win Konopka

Posted by Bullybeatdown on January 09, 2012 at 02:50 AM

WTF was that Zac? If you're gonna run your mouth, show up!

Posted by kinga101 on January 08, 2012 at 09:32 PM

Konopka a little too big and strong for Rinaldo's weight category. Those were some nice uppercuts by Zenon.

Posted by FightsOfHockey on January 08, 2012 at 05:31 PM

Konopka whoops him

Posted by tomthescrew on January 09, 2012 at 01:51 AM

Props to Rinaldo for trying but Konopka just too big and strong

Posted by GoingLightBarny on January 09, 2012 at 02:26 AM

Really not sure what Rinaldo thought he was gonna do with Konopka... ha ha ha... Konopka looks like he went to him in the warm-ups to let him know he would put him down if he wanted, and for some odd reason, Rinaldo accepted... Balls, i guess not close, Konopka with the beatin

Posted by nuckles88 on January 09, 2012 at 02:14 AM

I like Rinaldo but he was dominated in this one, unfair match for konopka to ask for from a kid whom he knows wont back down.

Posted by Estaban89 on January 08, 2012 at 06:42 PM

Well that was one-sided...

Posted by Leafs2006 on January 08, 2012 at 09:57 PM

Konopka is as useless as T*** on a nun. Woof Woof! Why didnt Mr Road Scholar go after Shelley? Typical Seniorita scrap. Time to call up Klotz...Flyers

Posted by hockeyfighter33 on January 09, 2012 at 05:48 PM

Konopka beat the crude out of Rinaldo.

Posted by paddyd on January 09, 2012 at 11:04 AM

If this is what Zac has to do to stay in the game then I don't plan on seeing him around to long. He's taking to many smack downs! I can admire his bravery but at 170 lbs you need to choose your opponents a bit more carefully.

Posted by bobsay0531 on January 08, 2012 at 10:58 PM

Rinaldo beat Knopaka's ass. Not even close.

Posted by 777Big on January 10, 2012 at 09:25 PM

Rinaldo with a little too much mouth before the game gets an a**-kicking during the game. Rinaldo is a weasel......

Battle of the Z's

Posted by bobcat7095 on January 08, 2012 at 07:05 PM

Zac Rinaldo over matched by Konopka, Easy win for Kanopka in a boring fight!

Posted by bigdog2007 on January 08, 2012 at 07:39 PM

Is Rinaldo related to Lucie Schenn?

Posted by Oil Can Henry on January 09, 2012 at 12:56 PM

...and what good is being a "gamer" if you've got no balance?,......and against a 'rassler like Konopka, no less,....

Posted by travist on January 08, 2012 at 07:57 PM

liked the warm up video...good stuff.

Posted by AbuNidal on January 08, 2012 at 06:50 PM

Good showing by Zac, I mean blocking that initial uppercut with his face, just great technique there!! Have to give the win to the ever positive Z Konopka!!

Posted by Big_Fat_Dan on January 09, 2012 at 01:49 AM

Konopka played that well, used his all of his experience to get the w.

Posted by chad420 on January 11, 2012 at 10:08 AM

win Planet Zenon

Posted by kkdowning on January 08, 2012 at 08:44 PM

Poptarts shows the kid what an uppercut is all about

Posted by Pops Ryan on January 08, 2012 at 08:56 PM

Not so easy when the guy is not playing in his first ever NHL game is it, Zac? Not so easy when you do not get a chance to skate 1/2 way across the ice to fight a guy who had no idea that it was coming. Tomorrow you and Briere can be twin brothers with your punched in, bruised faces. HA HA HA Oh, yeah, and by the way, both of you guys - who love to hand pick your opponents - better go back to fighting small Europeans. Everybody else is kicking your ass.
