Ryane Clowe Stands Up

There was only one bout from last night's NHL action: San Jose Sharks power forward Ryane Clowe engaged Calgary Flames defenseman Cory Sarich early in the third period in response to a big hit Sarich laid on rookie Logan Couture.
From the outset, it was all Clowe with right hands from over and under on the Flames blueliner. Sarich took a lot of the punches off the visor and helmet, but a few rights – especially some uppercuts – landed well on the jaw.
The fighting major was Clowe's 11th of the season. Including last night's fight against Sarich, three of those have been against the Flames. The other two were against Tim Jackman, who he sent to the ice in a heap on the tail end of a big right hand to the jaw last month.
