A Light Boxing Day

A Light Boxing Day

There was a full slate of games yesterday, but only a few fights as everyone settled back in from the Christmas break.

It didn't take long for something to happen in the IslandersRangers game. Micheal Haley went straight for Stu Bickel a little two minutes in, gave him a bump and then dropped the gloves. Haley landed some strong shots and Bickel's face showed it later in the game. Unfortunately for Haley, he didn't just pick up an instigator, but a hand injury as well, and didn't return.

This was the second New York matchup in days at the Garden, with the Rangers coming out on top both times. The Blueshirts lead the season series 3-1.

In other action

Steve Ott ran into Barret Jackman behind the net. The video makes it impossible to see what happened immediately after, but Steve Ott was turtling on the ice with Jackman facewashing him from whatever angle he could. Ott got back up and popped Jackman a couple of times before they wrestled and fell to the ice.

George Parros dropped the gloves with Frazer McLaren off of the faceoff after the Ducks scored the first goal of the game (Parros had the first assist on it). They spun and threw a few punches before Frazer McLaren lost his balance.
