Comments: Battaglia and Witt go at it at the end of the game. Battaglia is sick of the excessive crosschecking and drops the gloves with Witt. Witt grabs Battaglia and throws 4 lefts that hit the mark, but with little authority. Battaglia launches a right that gets Witt's cheek firmly. Not a very spirited fight, but never the less a fight by 2 unlikely combatants.

Comments: Long squareoff. Primeau at first seems a little hesitant, but gets the better of Simon with some heavy right hands. Simon was cut, but everybody is saying he had stitches going in (hit by a puck). He bled all over Primeau.

Comments: Brashear gets in early with lefts. Peat comes back and its a good toe-to-toe. Brashear gets some lefts at the end. He is then bent over and the linesmen break it up.

Comments: This happened right off the face off with about 10 seconds to go in the 3rd. They come together, grapple, no punches land and fall to the ice. Looks like Morrow might have thrown some over the linesmen when they were on the ice.

Comments: Stock checked Peat into the boards and Peat gave him a little cross-check back and they dropped the gloves. Started off with a bit of grappling as PJ might have been protecting his recently healed face. Both guys start to size each other up and exchange some short jabs. The guys come apart enough to exchange decent blows and then start trading haymakers. Peat lands some nice bombs to the side of PJ's helmet. PJ lands a couple and gets in two good shots, one snaping back Peat's helmet and the other right square on Peat's face. Peat answers with a few more bombs as he controled the fight a tad bit more. Other Penalties: Stock received an elbowing.

Comments: They drop the gloves and have a nice squareoff as they come out of the penalty box. Peat immediately lands about five hard rights to Shelley's face. Jody throws a couple of rights with little damage, though they might have given Peat a little drip from the nose. They tie each other up and Peat switches to the left. He lands two hard lefts and Jody goes to a knee.

Comments: Starts off the faceoff. Both drop them, they lock up and Brash drops the first shot in then they go toe to toe and lock up again. Brash's helmet is off, and they trade off again. Better shots from Brash. Action slows a bit and Brash gets Peat's helmet off and gets a couple of more shots in clean.

Comments: Malhotra gets dragged down in front of the net and a penalty gets called. DiMaio and Berry are pushing in the corner and the gloves come off. Berry starts by getting DiMaio locked. Berry throws a couple that look like they might've landed and DiMaio catches air on his punches. It looks like Berry tries to bring in DiMaio, but unlocked his left arm to throw a couple more. This was a mistake. DiMaio gets in close and is hunched over. For a moment it seemed as though he was going down to the ice, but DiMaio decided to throw a couple of uppercuts. Couldn't tell if they landed until the replay. One catches Berry flush on the face and Berry goes down. Other Penalties: Steve Eminger received a roughing.

Comments: Berry gets a good, clean body check on Turgeon in the Stars end. Guerin takes exception and the gloves come off. There were some wild punches thrown by both players, but couldn't tell if anything clean landed.

Comments: Off the draw, they both get rid of their gloves and Malhotra is backing away. They come together and Sutherby has his right free. Malhotra sees it coming and puts his head down. It looked like the first punch missed, and the next two by Sutherby landed on the top of Manny's helmet. Malhotra throws a right that glances the top of Sutherby's helmet... it looked like his forearm hit Sutherby. After the Malhotra punch, they both start to go down and Sotherby tries another right on the way down. Both of them are on the ice with Sutherby on top, as they try to get up the linesmen step in. Right after that Malhotra throws a couple of rights.

Comments: The two drop the gloves and trade punches. Matt Johnson landing the better, then bam! Henry gets blasted and gets sent to the ice. You could tell Moose landed some nice ones by the marks on Henry's face, looked a little bloody.

Comments: Starts behind the play as Tamer gave Sutherby a little rough ride. They yap a little and Sutherby sheds the gloves first. They both started firing a couple and Tamer's looked to connect a little better. Toe-to-toe for about 4 punches. Sutherby then takes over and fires 3 unanswered and Tamer goes down. Looked like a slip, not sure if any of Sutherby's shots landed flush.

Comments: Starts along the center ice line near the penalty boxes after Witt throws a nice hit to Cowan, which he takes exception to and promptly crosschecks Witt. Cowan tosses the gloves first with Witt following and throwing immediate rights, not much landing. Witt then ties up Cowan and throws three straight lefts to Cowan's face that land pretty clean. Cowan then comes back with a pretty good left that stuns Witt, but Cowan then all of a sudden just collapes. He literally fell after landing a good left. Witt then throws two to Cowan's head as he is down on the ice.

Comments: Starts along the boards with both holding on to each other with one arm free. Decent fight, but nothin special. Berry threw a lot, with most only hitting the helmet and a little rabbit punch being the only one that landed. Rheaume probably only threw 2-3 punches, all catching air. Other Penalties: Brian Sutherby received a holding.

Comments: They meet up in front of the net. Sutherby falls over and Fahey is on top. They get back up and grapple, they spent about 1 minute just grappling, Sutherby landed 1 or 2 during all the grapling. Then it ends when Fahey ducks his head and Sutherby unloads a few at the back of the head and the linesmen come in.

Comments: Starts at the Caps blueline as Witt is giving extra shoves to Thornton. Lapoine steps in and Witt turns away, but Marty holds on and the gloves come off. Lapointe lands an immediate left which cut Witt pretty bad. Witt comes back with a couple of rights and Marty returns some with a couple of uppercuts. Lots of blood pouring out as Witt headed to the locker room for repairs. Other Penalties: Lapointe received an instigator and misconduct.

Comments: Starts around the Lightning blueline when Roy asks Doig to go, and Doig accepts. Gloves come off and some grappling at first. Doig throws 2-3 rights, one of them looks to land clean. Then Roy throws some to the back of Doig's head and they both fall over.

Comments: The two jockey for position in front of the Caps net and Henry asks Stevenson to dance and the gloves come off with a lot of hugging going on. Henry gets his right arm out of his jersey and Stevenson falls on him and the linesmen jump in. Majors?

Comments: About 3 min. into the game Hordi and Henry sqaure off at center ice. The camera was slow to get there, but when it did they were both going toe to toe, both throwing and landing with each hand. Henry then pushes off of Hordi and hits him squarely. Hordi then gets him back, and they fall.

Comments: After one of the linesmen was hit with a high stick, Henry and Dwyer drop'em with Henry landing some real good rights early. Dwyer only threw one rabbit punch that landed, with the fight ending with Dwyer on top. Other Penalties: Andreas Salomonsson and Tom Poti each received a high sticking; Radek Dvorak a holding the stick.

Comments: The Panthers are hitting everything and Worrell just laid a huge hit on someone and Doig acted like he wanted to fight Worrell, but that didn't happen. Henry pushes Ward from behind and away they go. Ward starts off strong, throwing four unanswered rights. Finally Henry throws two short punches, one which knocks off Ward's helmet. They grapple for a bit, Henry gets his right hand free and throws two rights. Ward responds with one more right and then he holds and is avoiding three short punches from Henry that either miss or hit Ward in the shoulder. Now they hug until the linesmen come in. Other Penalties: Henry received a roughing; Jamie Rivers a tripping.

Comments: Zubrus lays a solid hit on Rivers and Jokinen takes exception which leads to them cross-checking each other. Both drop the gloves and hug. Jokinen sneaks in a right and another one as Zubrus nearly throws him down. Zubrus now begins to chuck them, throwing a right over the top and several uppercuts as Jokinen is bent over and the refs come in to save him. Other Penalties: Each player received a cross checking.

Comments: Witt throws a gloved left and Worrell sheds the gloves. Witt throws two more lefts as he's in tight on Worrell. Worrell then gets his reach and throws two rights, one of which that was to the body. Witt answers with two rights of his own, to which Worrell responds with an uppercut and overhand right. Worrell has Witt leaning over and throws a shortened right, then Witt comes back with two lefts. One of them Worrell blocks with his forearm. Now they are both in tight with Worrell using his bodyweight, holding Witt down and throwing two short punches that don't land and the linesmen come in.

Comments: Right before Worrell-Witt, Ference bumps Konowalchuck and they go after each other, but the camera never shows them until after Worrell and Witt are on their way to the sin bin. All that was shown was both guys hugging and taking each other to the ice. Ference got a bit of the "crazy legs" as he was on his back throwing punches and being pinned down by Konowalchuk and the refs. Other Penalties: Ference received a roughing and game misconduct; Konowalchuk a game misconduct.

Comments: Sutherby hammers Lilja into the boards and Weiss immediately grabs onto Sutherby from behind and drops the gloves. Big mistake! Sutherby is basically pulling him around the ice until he unloads two big rights. Weiss is looking very sloppy and off-balance. Sutherby throws two more rights and Weiss throws one. Weiss is now twisted around and left wide open for a big punch. He attempts to throw a right, but Sutherby unloads three big lefts with the last one being a beauty landing right on the chin that knocks Weiss on his bum. Other Penalties: Weiss received a roughing; Sutherby a double charging and roughing.

Comments: Starts in front of the B's net as it looks like Stock and Oliwa are fighting over who's going to go with Henry. The 6'6" Henry gets Stock at arms length and starts firing rights, landing maybe one. Stock ducks and starts to chuck the left, landing maybe one of his own. Henry gets him at arms length again and fires off 4 or 5 more rights, all glancing as Stock turns his head with each Henry punch while trying to get better position. Stock gets inside and tries to throw again, but scores the takedown.

Comments: Starts after the whistle in front of Montreal's net. Sutherby took a run at Koivu, Rivet takes exception and the gloves come off with both trading very good straight rights. Rivet falls on Sutherby and the fight's over. Other Penalties: Sutherby received a roughing and slashing; Rivet a cross checking.

Comments: Holik gets an elbow up on Halpern. Scrum by the benches is going on. It appears Halpern assumes nothing was being called, and starts throwing punches at Holik. About three punches, and Holik does nothing. Mironov comes in with gloves off, and is tossed for third man in, even though he didn't fight. Halpern got the extra penalty (unsportsmanlike) for getting an instigator with his shield on. Other Penalties: Boris Mironov a roughing and game misconduct; Holik an elbowing; Halpern an unsportsmanlike conduct, instigator and misconduct. Bobby Holik did not receive a fighting major.

Comments: Doig touches up for the icing, but Barnaby gives him an extra shove. The fight was a hugfest with short punches doing nothing, Barnaby landed more of them. Barnaby Was crazy. The whole time he was screaming and laughing at Holik and telling the refs to back off.

Comments: Odgers is looking to spark the Thrash who are down 2-0 early and challenges Henry in the Caps end after the whistle. They both start grappling at first with Henry throwing some big rights. None are really connecting and Odgers comes back with some of his own rights, with maybe one landing. Henry lands a good late right and takes down Odgers.

Comments: Ference had stirred things up with Henry earlier in the second. He goes after Grier along the boards in the Caps end and lays a check on Grier who takes exception and asks Brad to drop'em and here we go. Grier gets a good hold of Brad and starts throwing 10-15 to the back of Ference's head (with no helmet). Ference eventually tries to throw and punch and a few come off, but not much and in come the linesmen.

Comments: Berry lays a big hit on Holmstrom and Shanny on his next shift takes exception. He runs Berry into the boards in the Caps end and they have a classic squareoff and then Shanny throws the lid off with Berry doing the same. Shanny gets in some early rights with Berry countering with some rabbit punches and then gets Shannys jersey over his head landin one or two good ones and then Shanny quickly comes back with a pretty big right.

Comments: This one was toe to toe for about 45 seconds. Awesome fight. Peat starts with four or five rights with Dwyer throwing four or five as well and some landing for both. Peat then holds on and Dwyer throws a couple rights with one landing. Peat then switches to the lefts with three bombs and Dwyer returning. Peat then throws a huge left with Dwyer getting turned around and a bit stunned. He then turns back and Peat lands another left, but Dwyer still throws landing a couple more as well as Peat. Great fight and Dwyer waving to the Washington crowd for some odd reason.

Comments: They drop the mitts in front of the Washington net. Wrestling at first, neither guy can get free. Boulton gets his arm free and lands a pretty good right. Henry responds with a good right of his own, and may have landed with another. Boulton goes down shortly after.

Comments: Off the faceoff Mair wants Sutherby and drops the gloves. Mair gets off about three lefts before Sutherby responds. Both then get free and throw 7 bombs each, both landing a few. Mair then falls and pulls Sutherby down with him. Sutherby had a bloody nose. Mair had a cut over his left eye.

Comments: Hamel drills Berry into the boards behind the net and Berry wants to go. They drop the gloves and grab on, Hamel tried his best, but nothing really came of it. He threw one over the top, but it didn't connect. Berry threw a few rights to the back of the head, then waited for the linesmen to step in.

Comments: The B's score their 3rd goal in the first 10 min so the Caps yank Kozlig and send Peat out. Peat drops the gloves the gloves with Oliwa and lands the first right. They grab a hold of each and Peat's right is free as he throws about 8 of them with a few landing. Oliwa then gets a right in, followed by another good right, which stuns Peat for a second. They now are tied up with Oliwa trying to get free and complaining to the linesmen. The linesmen then break it up.

Comments: On the ensuining faceoff after Oliwa-Peat, Stock and Henry go in another classic. They squareoff for a couple of seconds, then they move in and grab. Henry throws a couple of rights which miss and Stock turns southpaw and throws some lefts, which come up short. Henry then gets the right lined up and lands about 4-5 hard rights until Stock comes up with a right of his own that lands flush and snaps Henry's head back. Stock quickly switches back to the left and lands 2-3 to a stunned Henry. They clutch and Henry regains his composure and lands another good right followed by more clutching. Stock lands one more right which looks to be all helmet, and the linesmen come in. Stock was opened up again and was bleeding pretty good.

Comments: Witt is harrassing Thorton behind the Caps Net and Thornton finally said enough and drops the gloves, bad timing for Witt too because the Caps broke up ice and scored, but the wistle blew. Witt tries a few lefts which miss and Thornton throws some rights. Witt is holding the sleeve on Joe's jersey by the wrist so Thornton was throwing short rights, landing, then switching to the left and landing a nice one. Witt counters with a couple of rights then Thornton lands another left and switches back to the right and lands the last 4 punches as Witt doesn't look too interested in fighting anymore. Other Penalties: Thornton received a roughing.

Comments: Doig lays a hit on Sims in the Caps' end and Lappy takes exception. Off they come with Lappy rippin Doig's helmet off and then Doig throwing 4-5 rights, with none doing damage. Lappy returns the favor with the same results. That's it. Other Penalties: Laperriere received a roughing.

Comments: Witt gets his stick a little high on Iginla in the Caps' zone and Iggy takes exception and lays a decent hit on Witt. Witt drops 'em first and gets Iginla's hemlet right away. Witt started with the lefts and had Iginla tied up well so he couldn't throw. None of Witt's punches seemed to do any damage and Iggy only got off one or two punches.

Comments: Grier starts off with two lefts that miss and then gets another left that connects to the side of Ruutu's head. Ruutu tries to come back and misses with a right. Grier then gets bent over and hits Ruutu with another left as he's bent over. Ruutu then throws a huge right uppercut that puts Grier off balance and falls to the ice seconds later. Grier had a bloody nose after.

Comments: On the Sens' power play Doig and Redden get some shoves in after the whistle and Doig drops em and starts throwing, not landing anything great. Redden trys to throw, but fell. Other Penalties: Both players each received a slashing.

Comments: Great squareoff in the Caps zone and Doig does the gentlemanly thing and removes the visor and Neil likewise. Neil has Doig tied up good and Doig is throwing, but not landing and Neil counters with some good uppercuts. Both started holding on and all of a sudden Doig gets loose and throws two good lefts that drop Neil. The last left from Doig caught Neil good and he looked woozy skating to the box.

Comments: Good, long squareoff. Belak starts with some rights and lands 1-2, then Peat throws 12-15 lefts, many landing and then switches and lands a right bomb. Belak recovers and then lands one left of his own and the linesmen jump in as they're dog tired and Peat is smiling. Other Penalties: Richard Jackman received a high sticking.
