Right out of the box they meet up and drop the gloves, looked like Erskine was stretching as they were circling. They come together and grab on. They hold each other off with their right hands and throw over each other with nothing but bombs. Johnson gets the first couple, one real good one, and Erskine responds with a couple overhand rights that Johnson ducks under. Johnson then grabs Erskine's leg and tries to hit him while Erskine is off-balance, but Erskine dosn't fall and nails Johnson's forehead with a couple of overhand rights. They fall and Johnson throws some lefts at the end.

Mar 16, 2004 2pd 16:36 Jason Wiemer OTT Chris Neil
They're in close, jockying for space. Neil catches Wiemer with a good right, Wiemer returns the favor with a soft left. Neil switches hands, but his punch falls short. Wiemer switches hands, a right is blocked. Neil gets his right hand free, Wiemer lands another right. Neil lands a good right and sends Wiemer's helmet flying. Wiemer's right comes up just short. They spin a bit and get ready to throw the next bombs, Neil's right misses/comes up short, as Wiemer lands a nice right. Neil's helmet goes flying and Wiemer puts him on one knee. Neil gets back up and they start to spin wildly. Neil throws a jersey-jab, Wiemer's follow-up right is short, then Neil lands a left. They both throw two rights and both miss while spinning. Wiemer switches hands again and throws a left, Neil throws a right simultaneously, both are blocked by each other's punches. Wiemer goes way off-balance, with one leg up in the air. Wiemer gets both skates on the ice and switches to his right again. For the next 10 seconds, both are throwing while switching hands, nothing landing. Neil then throws a left jersey-punch and Wiemer jerked backwards, causing him to be off-balance. Neil then pushed him over and lands on top.

Mar 24, 2004 2pd 06:01 Alex Henry @CBJ Jody Shelley
At the end of the play someone gives Richardson a little shove in front of the Blue Jackets net. Players come together along the boards and Henry grabs a hold of a Jacket so over comes Shelley. Shelley drops the gloves and pops Henry with a big right smack in the eye. Down goes Henry, gloves still on. The announcers mentioned Henry was bleeding, but it was not shown. Other Penalties: Shelley received a roughing, misconduct and game misconduct; Stephane Veilleux a roughing. Alex Henry did not receive a fighting major.

Mar 24, 2004 2pd 13:39 Jason Wiemer @CBJ David Ling
Ling lays one of the best hits of this year on a Wild player, and in comes Wiemer to challenge. Ling connects with a big left across the jaw and then Wiemer gets Ling's jersey over his head and Ling slips down to the ice. Wiemer holds on and starts throwing rights, with about three landing to the back of Ling's jersey-covered head. Other Penalties: Wiemer received an instigator and misconduct.

Mar 25, 2004 1pd 09:29 Matt Johnson @CHI Ryan VandenBussche
Both are throwing and Vandenbussche is landing a couple of glancing blows, then he starts losing balance. Johnson lands a big uppercut solidly then lands a nice right hand to the jaw. There's a couple of more punches and then some grappling down to the ice.

Mar 25, 2004 3pd 09:59 Alex Henry @CHI Travis Moen
Moen flattens a Wild player and Henry makes a b-line for Travis. They're in-close and Henry's cut from the Shelley punch last night re-opens. No punches thrown from there on in. They both just hang on until it's broken up.

Mar 25, 2004 3pd 10:50 Matt Johnson @CHI Jim Vandermeer
Vandermeer throws a gloved punch that connects, then connects with a solid right before Johnson is ready, and it definitely hurts Johnson. Vandermeer throws a few noogie lefts to the top of Johnson's helmet as he is bent over. Johnson finishes by forearming Vandermeer to the ice. You can see a nice pink shade to the left cheek on Johnson as he skates to the bench with his head hung down. Other Penalties: Johnson and Vandermeer each received a slashing.
