Oct 13, 2001 3pd 00:34 Peter Worrell PHI Todd Fedoruk
Comments: The two drop the gloves and square off for a bit. Fedoruk lunges forward and misses with a left. Worrell then throws a few shots that hit Fedoruks back and helmet. Pressed up against the boards by the Panthers bench, Worrell is able to get Fedoruk's helmet off. Worrell then starts letting the rights fly and then lands one that sends Fedoruk down. Linesmen skate in while Fedoruk is on his knees.

Oct 13, 2001 3pd 08:17 Bill Lindsay PHI Luke Richardson
Comments: After Richardson ran at Lindsay from behind, they both freaked and dropped them. Kevyn Adams also took exception and tried to go after Richardson. Mark Recchi jumped in and started on Adams. Richardson and Lindsay danced all over the ice, both with their arms tied up. Finally, Richardson got an arm somewhat free and started swinging at Lindsay. Richardson threw about 10 punches, some missing, but a few catching the back of bills head and the last 2 hitting his face. Richardson dropped Lindsay to end it. Other Penalties: Richardson received a cross checking, instigator and misconduct.

Oct 13, 2001 3pd 13:38 Peter Worrell PHI Todd Fedoruk
Comments: Just after a faceoff, they dropped them, Worrell landed 3 light jabs and had the Fridge off balance. As Fedoruk goes down, he flips around and he gets a couple off grazing the body and possibly the side of Worrell's face. Worrell recoverd to throw and land a couple more as the linesmen step in. As they are being seperated, Worrell lands one more and looked a little mad that Fedoruk threw from the ground. This was the second time this game these two fought. Other Penalties: Fedoruk received a misconduct, Worrell a game misconduct.

Nov 03, 2001 2pd 03:10 Peter Worrell NYR Dale Purinton
Comments: Worrell seems to be doing whatever he likes out there and Purinton challenges him. They drop the gloves and Worrell gets off some rights with a couple connecting pretty well, although Purinton does not seem phased. They get in closer and each throw some short ones. Each probably landed one ok one. Purinton has Worrell pressed up against the boards and Worrell just holds as the linesmen come in.

Nov 12, 2001 3pd 19:52 Peter Worrell BUF Jay McKee
Comments: Worrell punches a turtling Jay McKee. Normally, I'd slam Worrell for doing something like this. But, there are 15 seconds left in a game the Panthers are losing at home and Dumont-Brown-Satan were out there. These teams play again Friday, it's message time, you knew Worrell was going after someone to send a message. Well, we all knew with the exception of Lindy Ruff, hence the soft line that was out there. McKee was the guy out there at the time that was proper to go with. Instead, he just got some uppercuts while ducking down the whole time. Other Penalties: Worrell received a roughing, instigator, misconduct and game misconduct. Jay McKee did not receive a fighting major.

Comments: They dance for a while, both trying to get free. Just when it looks as if nothing will happen, Ward gets an arm free and lands a shot to Gratton and they fall to the ice. While down, Ward lands 3 more rights to Gratton, possibly stunning him. As Ward goes to throw another, the refs come in and end it. Other Penalties: Both players received game misconducts.

Nov 19, 2001 2pd 13:48 Brad Ference @TOR Darcy Tucker
Comments: Earlier on, Tucker hits Bure, knocks some of his teeth out and gives Bure an early exit to the game. Some grappling the Tucker missed with two big right hooks. Ference then lands a good left on Tucker, and then cracks him with another sending him down. After Ference sent Tucker to the ice during the fight in the second, Ference mocked Tucker by pretending to collapse in the penalty box. Side note: later in the game Jason Wiemer butt-ended Tucker and knocked him out of the game. Wiemer was called on an elbowing major and game misconduct.

Nov 19, 2001 3pd 06:23 Paul Laus @TOR Tie Domi
Comments: As the play went up ice, Laus came to Domi and started pushing him. as they reached the center ice logo the two dropped the gloves. Laus threw the first 2, missing on both. Domi came back and threw 3 lefts. Both tried to get in position and Domi yanked the jersey over Laus' head. Domi switched hands and threw 3 rights and as he was positioning to throw more on a blind Laus, the linesman decided to step in. As the linesman were seperating the two, Laus still blinded with the jersey over his head, took a swing and appeared to hit the linesman. It didnt appear that Domi hit him with anything big, but Laus had a big red mark in his lower cheek/jaw area. Other Penalties: Laus received a misconduct.

Nov 19, 2001 3pd 11:38 Peter Worrell @TOR Tie Domi
Comments: As the puck drops on a faceoff the two decide to drop em and go. Domi gets off the first 4, missing completely as Worrell puts his hands up in defense. The attack seemed to catch Worrell off guard (possible that Worrell didn't realize Domi was a lefty). The two then spin around a few times as Worrell tries to recover his balance. Worrell throws a wild right, grazing the temple of Domi. They strugglesome more until Worrell gets his right free and throws 5 fast shots, landing on 3 or 4 (one of them appeared to hit Domi's helmet - Worrell's hand injury). The red mark was visible on Domis cheek. Worrell then threw 2 more, landing on one. (Worrell has a big smile on his face and is sticking his tongue out at Domi). The two then migrated across the ice clenched to each other. Domi then gets free and seems to gain the advantage, landing 2 of his own. Big Worrell then has enough and grabs Domi with his usual bear hug as they reach the boards. Worrell then rips Domis helmet off and gives him the "Worrell noogie" as the linesman quickly come to seperate the tiring fighters. At first, Worrell seemed to have trouble with the shorter Domi, but recovered well.

Dec 05, 2001 3pd 20:00 Brad Ference CBJ Kevin Dineen
Comments: Dineen starts with a left which comes up short. Ference answers with a left that Dineen ducks. Dineen throws another wild left but Ference has him out of reach. Ference comes back with a left that catches Dineen on the right side of the helmet. Dineen another left that misses the mark and his momentum puts him in an awkward position. Ference throws another left that Dineen ducks and follows with another left that hammers Dineen in the right side of the head again upending his helmet this time. Ference fires two short lefts which appear to land and an uppercut which finds the mark. Dineen's in trouble now. Ference misses with another left and Dineen gets free to fire a right but again it comes up short. An overhand left by Ference catches Dineen's back and another lands solidly into the back of Dineen's head as he is bent over. A follow up left by Ference may have hit the back of the head again. Hard to tell from the angle. The next five lefts all land somewhere on Dineen's head but do little apparent damage. The refs are then in.

Dec 08, 2001 2pd 12:22 Paul Laus CAR Darren Langdon
Comments: The two come together along the boards with Laus getting a hand to Langdon's face, and the gloves come off. They both immeadiately grab a handfull of jersey (they each had both fists clenced with jersey). Laus tries to throw first, with Langdon countering. Nothing landed. They both continue to each try and throw a few more back and fourth, but nothing landing due to the clenched jersey thing. Boring fight.

Dec 15, 2001 1pd 08:52 Joey Tetarenko @NYI Eric Cairns
Comments: With some puching and shoving, it starts in front of the Isles net. They grab on quick and Cairns starts throwing powerful rights. Tetarenko throws two rights of his own at the same time. Cairns' land as he has Tetarenko slightly hunched over. Cairns then tries to throw a big uppercut but it misses. He then throws another that lands. Cairns now throws a punch above the head, going for the under-over. This lands, but not as hard. As they're turning Cairns throws another overhanded punch that lands decently to the side of Tetarenko's head. Tetarenko tries to retaliate with two quick rights of his own that both miss. Cairns is winding up for a possible left when Tetarenko goes for a huge right that misses as Cairns leans back. Another right by Tetarenko that grazes off the outside of Cairns' shoulder. Cairns then misses an uppercut and both miss a right at the same time. Cairns then throws a straight right that lands solid as Tetarenko was trying to get the shoulder up. Cairns then throws another right that hits Tetarenko as he's beginning to fall (from the shot before). Tetarenko goes down and Cairns stops throwing as the linesmen come in. Solid display from Cairns.
Voted winner: Eric Cairns (95.8%) - Voted rating: 5.8

Dec 15, 2001 2pd 03:20 Joey Tetarenko @NYI Steve Webb
Comments: Tetarenko's second fight of the game. Webb checks Tetarenko near the Islanders bench and they both grab on and launch the gloves (one flew pretty far). Webb throws the first one quick and it's a right that glances the side of Tetarenko's head. Webb tries to throw another right, but Tetarenko get's up his left arm and stopped it. Quick shuffling of the jerseys and Tetarenko throws a right that goes over Webb's head. Tetarenko then throws a right that hits Webb cleanly in the forehead. He then throws another that gets Webb's helmet to come back off his head. A third right in a row misses body and gets all jersey as Webb moves to his right. Tetarenko then tries for a right uppercut that appears to have landed. Webb, with his left hand, the same hand that has the neckline of Tetarenko's jersey, throws a quick jab that Tetarenko ducks his head under. Tetarenko tries to throw his right again and it goes over the top of Webb who's ducking. He then throws a right again, but ends it open-handed, trying to completely remove Webb's helmet. Another right then misses, and as he's going forward Webb throws a left that goes over Tetarenko's body, missing him as well. As they're each trying to regain their balance, Tetarenko throws two more rights, both looking as though they went over Webb's head (Webb is straightening out his body as his head was still bent down). Webb then throws a left that hits Tetarenko's shoulder, and tries to throw another. Tetarenko is leaning out of the way, and they start grappling a bit for position. Webb gets Tetarenko's jersey over his head, and Tetarenko throws one more punch that misses. Webb then lands a solid left to the blinded Tetarenko, and then another as Tetarenko starts to fall. One more punch by Webb as he starts to fall since he's still holding on to Tetarenko's jersey. Linesmen come in. Other Penalties: Robert Svehla received a roughing.

Dec 15, 2001 3pd 03:46 Peter Worrell @NYI Eric Cairns
Comments: Cairns second fight of the game. Two minutes earlier these two served coincidental minors for roughing. Worrell gets the puck a few seconds out of the box and Cairns checks him. The two then drop the gloves and attempt to finish what they wanted to start before. Worrell starts with a right that Cairns attempts to dodge. In doing so, Worrell practically has him turned around. Worrell then throws five consecutive shots to the back of Cairns' helmet trailing to right below his neck by the end. He's trying to turn around to be face-to-face with Worrell but Worrell hugs and won't let him. Worrell then tries to get Cairns' helmet off and Cairns grabs it to stop him. Worrell then throws two more rights to the back of Cairns' head. Cairns is then able to turn around, but Worrell is still holding on real tight. They hug some more and Cairns gives Worrell a tap to the face with his fist and the linesmen come in to break it up. Worrell looked like he was the one that insisted on the wrestling match.

Dec 15, 2001 3pd 10:47 Bill Lindsay @NYI Dave Scatchard
Comments: Near the Islanders penalty box these two start shoving. They decide to go and try to grab on while skating decently fast for a fight. Lindsay is the only one that can grab hold cleanly at first, as he does so with his left hand. He tries to throw a right, and Scatch catches it with his left hand. They do a 180 and Scatchard tries to throw a couple of rights, but Lindsay has his jersey grabbed at the arm towards the elbow. Lindsay then throws a right that misses. They keep spinning...Scatchard then throws a left hook taht grazes and has Lindsay almost in a headlock. He then tries to throw a right while he has Lindsay there, but Lindsay is able to back out of it. After a 360, Lindsay throws a wild right that misses. Slowing down he throws a nice straight right that hits Scatch cleanly. They're still spinning and Lindsay lands a couple of right hooks to the body. Lindsay then pops him with a left (while still holding Scatchard's jersey with that hand) and attempts to quickly get in a right, but the second punch misses. They then hold on and it's broken up.

Dec 17, 2001 3pd 03:12 Joey Tetarenko @NYR Steve McKenna
Comments: McKenna gives Tetarenko a shove along the boards and Tetarenko just drops them, grabs the big guy and throws a punch, a right to the head that grazes and pushes McKenna a little as he wasn't ready for it. McKenna drops just one glove, his right, and throws and overhand that misses. McKenna then drops the left glove, grabs Tetarenko as he's pushing towards him, and throws another right that lands to the back of Tetarenko's head. McKenna then hesitates just a second and throws another overhand right that lands solid to Tetarenko's head/neck area. Tetarenko's pushed and turned slightly, McKenna throws another overhand right that lands to the back of Tetarenko's head. Tetarenko turns around and hugs. They hug and spin, McKenna tries to throw another punch (a baby uppercut) that does nothing, and then they fall (or Tetarenko pushed him down).

Dec 17, 2001 3pd 17:05 Jason Wiemer @NYR Matt Barnaby
Comments: Barnaby's first fight as a Ranger. Shortly after a faceoff, the two get together outside of the Rangers zone. Gloves drop and there's the squareoff (with Barnaby's awkwardly tilted skates). They grab and are trying to grapple for position while throwing some "armpit punches." Wiemer throws 2 short rights that connect and then a left that misses. Wiemer then gets Barnaby's helmet off with his left hand (a grab); as he's doing that Barnaby attempts a right that gets blocked by Wiemer's shoulder. Wiemer then rockets down two rights that land solidly to the side of Barnaby's head as he's hunched over. A third gets Barnaby's back, and a fourth misses. Barnaby is starting to yap and Wiemer throws two more rights that Barnaby seems to dodge. Barnaby finally counters with a left that lands ok, kinda slap style. He then throws another left putting all his weight into it and Wiemer falls with Barnaby on top of him.

Dec 19, 2001 3pd 12:12 Peter Worrell WAS Stephen Peat
Comments: The two square off after the Simon goal. Peat drops 'em first as they dance and ready themselves. Worrell then "hands" Peat his stick, which allows him to safely drop his gloves. Worrell grabs at Peat's jersey first which allows Peat to get the first shot off. As they struggle a bit, Peat gets off 5 more, landing 3 (but nothing big). They both struggle to get an arm free to get the advantage. Worrell has his arm out of his jersey sleeve, but can't shake the elbow pad off. As Worrell gets his arm free, he gets off 4 shots, landing 2. Peat counters with 3 more, landing 1. They both struggle more to punch, but neither can land anything. As they come together, they both land shots to the back of the head. The two big men tire and embrace with a loving hug as the linesman seperate them.

Dec 22, 2001 2pd 11:13 Joey Tetarenko STL Reed Low
Comments: They mutually decide to drop the gloves and have a brief square-off. Low gets the better of the fight early on as he's able to get the right free and land some decent shots. Tetarenko then starts to come on and lands some good rights of his own. But after the short flurry from Tetarenko, Low is able to take control again and gets Tetarenko in a bad position and is able to get the left free and throws some before taking Tetarenko down. Low appeared to have some marks on his face so Tetarenko must have landed some shots but Low controlled this fight and got the better of the shots in. Very good fight with both guys landing some good shots.

Comments: Cameras come in late to see Ward land a couple of nice rights. Stock tries to get some shots in, but Ward's reach is too great. Ward lands another nice right, then Stock finally lands a couple. Camera breaks away as Naz and Laus drop em but Frasier breaks them up. Comments: With the Leafs down 3-1, and after Weimer's elbow on Tucker earlier, Domi drops the gloves with Weimer. Domi got the left hand pumping away, as he threw about 5 to start off with. All of them landed pretty good, one hit Weimer right on the nose. Weimer was bloodied, but kept going. Jason tried to come back with rights, as he and Domi trade shots after Domi's first flurry of lefts. Weimer with about 4, Domi around the same. Comments: As Ricci scores the Sharks second goal, Laus and Thornton are grinding behind the net. As the goal horn was sounding, the two were slinging the mitts. Laus gets going first, tossing a couple that may have caught Thornton in the side of the neck. They spin around and bounce off the boards and that enables Thornton to take control. Comments: Only 14 seconds in, Chara challenges Worrell who obliges. Worrell starts out throwing little jabs to Chara who responds by throwing some little jabs to Worrell. Worrell then throws 3 big rights, 1 which hits the helmet knocking it off, the next hitting Chara on the back/top of the head, and the third missing completely. Worrell's momentum makes him fall. Chara, on his knees also, throws a weak punch at Worrell that hits him in the back.

Respect to Probert who gets up and the pair trade shots. Probert lands a couple that seem to rock Laus, but Probie can't keep his balance. Lots of blood on the ice afterwards.

Jan 18, 2002 1pd 11:53 Brad Ference @DAL Brenden Morrow
Comments: They start in the Panthers end of the ice...The gloves come off and they immediately start to hold. Ference gets off a quick, weak left that connects to Morrow's face and then follows it up with another short left that barely connects. Morrow returns the love with three consecutive rights, one to the face, then the body, but Ference blocked his third one with his left arm as he was leaning back. After Morrow's three rights they hold on again. Ference tries to get his right free but they can't, as he does this they turn a full 360 degrees. Morrow gets his left free and throws an overhead punch to Ference's face, but I'm not sure if it connected because of the camera angle. After the punch they both go to holding, but Morrow momentarily gets each hand free but misses with a left and right. Ference then gets in two short lefts to the face and then Morrow gets a left free and they both connect with weak lefts. Morrow finally gets his right free again and throws three rights to Ference's head. The first was a weak punch, the second one looked a bit stronger, and the third one missed because Ference ducked out of the way. Now it's Ference's turn as he throws a quick left that looks like it just missed Morrow. As the linesmen try to step in, Ference unloads 7 lefts in a row. Out of the 7, probably 3-4 land. Morrow now gets a right free and throws two to Ference's head. Morrow goes to one knee but gets right up only to get another weak left to his face from Ference.

Jan 18, 2002 1pd 15:08 Joey Tetarenko @DAL John Erskine
Comments: Erskine lands a right to the body and then follows with a big bomb to Tets' head. I'm not sure if the punch rattled Tets or if was a combo of the punch and shove with the left hand that Erskine has a hold of him with. As soon as Tetarenko stumbles Erskine lands another right to his head. Tets gets in a right but is met by 2 rights from Erskine with one possibly landing. Erskine has a hold of the front of Tets' jersey with his left hand and pulls it up over his face. After doing this he connects with two rights to his face, a weak right to the body, and then three big rights back to Tets face. They're now on the boards and Tetarenko gets a right off since he can see again. Erskine retaliates with a big right to the face and Tets answers with another right. Erskine decides to throws a right jab to Tetarenko's face, Tets misses a right and Erskine gets in another right jab, but this was a lot more powerful than the first jab. Erskine pushes Tetarenko against the boards and it looks like the refs are going to jump in to stop the fight, but they don't. Tets decides he should probably start throwing and gives Erskine four punches. The first was an overhead right that hits the back of Erskine's helmet, the second shot is an uppercut that hits an armpit, but the last two land to Erskine's face. Erskine tries to retaliate but misses a right. Tets tries to connect with a right of his own but misses. He then gets a right hook from Erskine that lands on the back of his helmet. The refs jump in to stop the fight.

Jan 18, 2002 3pd 08:27 Peter Worrell @DAL Derian Hatcher
Comments: Worrell lays a huge hit on Hatcher and stands over him. Hatcher gets up and the gloves come off. The fight starts with 5 straight Worrell rights, most connect but they're not big shots. They then exchange rights, but Worrell has his left arm extended and is holding Hatcher off. Worrell connects with two more rights, but Hatcher throws 4 straight rights back at Worrell. Worrell answers with a couple of punches and Hatcher can only answer back with one more punch. Hatcher is getting pushed around by the reach and strength of Worrell's left arm. Worrell throws two more rights to the back of Hatcher and the refs jump in.

Jan 18, 2002 3pd 12:46 Ivan Novoseltsev @DAL Jamie Langenbrunner
Comments: Novo crosschecks Langenbrunner as they go in front of the Panther goalie (Trevor Kidd). Langenbrunner doesn't take too kindly to that and gets another shove from Novo. He shoves Novo back and they decide to throw. Langenbrunner gets in a shot to the body and the two come briefly together. Novo throws three overhead rights that connect to Langenbrunner's head, and then throw three more weak head shots in after they hugged for a couple seconds. Then it's all Langenbrunner. He throws 3 uppercuts that connect while he's pulling Novo's jersey over his head. Novo is able to get free and they both connect with rights (Novo's jersey it still on). Langenbrunner then goes back in and gets Novo's jersey completely over his head and gives him three uppercuts to mark the occasion. With Novo's jersey off Langenbrunner feels the need to try and connect with two more uppercuts. Between the uppercuts Novo did get a right fist in that might have connected. After the last uppercut Novo goes down and covers up. Other Penalties: Novoseltsev received an instigator and misconduct.

Comments: Worrell laid a heavy hit on Niedermeyer, cartwheeling over the Devils defenseman after pushing him down. White confronted Worrell, Worrell just grabbed Colin with his left hand and basically threw him to the ground. When White got back to his skates, Worrell hit him with two solid rights, one opening a large gash under White's left eye. White was game, he tried to throw a series of punches. Feb 04, 2002 1pd 12:12 Brad Ference NYI Roman Hamrlik
Comments: Scrum near the boards. Kvasha was just holding onto Worrell who was pushing him into the bench and throwing a glove-on slap or two. They don't show how it starts, but cameras blink and the Hammer-Tets fight looks sloppy but even. They flash back to Kvasha and Worrell, then pick it up the "real" fight soon after the start with both guys having good grips. Each throw a few rights, nothing lands. Ference switches to the left and lands, promptimg Roman to bail out of trying to land anything more, ducking the head and looking to tie up. Ference lands close to a dozen short left hooks, prompting Howie Rose (the Isles announcer) to start yelling that a teammate should jump in and save Roman. Linesman finally get there from escorting Worrell and Kvasha and the fights over. Other Penalties: Bill Lindsay recieved a boarding; Oleg Kvasha and Peter Worrell both received double roughings; Hamrlik and Ference both received misconducts.

Lecavalier tied him up pretty well, with Ference throwing 2 or 3 punches, 2 that may have connected with helmet. Comments: After Worrell is leveled by Perrott, Pete gets up slowly and adjusts his helmet and sets his eyes on Nathan. The two go at it and Perrott starts throwing right away. Perrott gets off 4 quick rights to the back of Pete's head, then pushes Pete to the boards. Perrott then fires 2 more rights to the back of Pete's head. Perrott is in tight now and Worrell gets off 1 connecting with his left to the side of Nathan's helmet. Pete tries to throw another, but they're in so close that Perrott is able to block it. Perrott then takes his turn and fires another right, again hitting the same area in the back of Pete's head. Worrell then gets his right free and nails Perrott in the face, the best punch of the fight. Perrott then switches to the left, trying to get one in.
