Textbook hip check by Abdelkader on Schenn but Luke smacked him down in retaliation.

First of all, great shift to watch. Armstrong decks a wing then Abdelkader lays down a beauty hipper.

Second of all, I'm giving this one a draw. Schenns bigger and was trying to force Abby to the ice the whole fight. They both land about the same amount of punches and then it hits the ice.

Abdelkader is going to be a fun player to watch if youre a wings fan, coming from college hockey he needs more time to learn the ropes of fighting in the pros

Bawhite: I think its worth considering the fact that Luke Schenn is a great deal bigger than Abdelcader. Abbie would have been rag dolled by him at this time last year. His fighting has improved, its just not good enough yet.

I kind of want to give Abbie the win, just for the hip check. Winner is Schenn, even though he's an over-rated tool.

What Bull****, you can't make a good solid check in the NHL anymore without having to fight????

As a wings fan I say Detroit needs someone who can fight. Abdelkader obviously didn't listen to anything May tried to teach him last year. Granted, no fighter can win them all, however he hasn't won any. At least he doesn't play the concussion game like Lilja.

Schenn with the take down and win for showing more effort.

Abdelkader got a little cocky last year and was taken down a couple notches here. Schenn handed it to him pretty good...

bawhite, I am a Red Wings fan and agree that they need a fighter, but Abdelkader is using what he learned in the summer while training in a boxing ring. He is using what May taught him, but he is also using what he knows. No he hasn't won any fights in the NHL, but look at some of his fights from the AHL and tell me that he didn't win any of those fights. He is still trying to figure out how everyone in the NHL fights because he hasn't fought many of these players. He is also fighting a bigger player and a more experienced player in these situations.

As for the fight Schenn with the win, but why does every big hit have to lead to a fight. You don't see a Detroit going to fight a player after that player had a big hit on a Red Wing.

Schenn displayed exactly what is wrong with todays player; couldn't take a perfectly clean hit,

Play the game Schenn. You took a clean hit. You look like a tool going after a basic non-fighter for having the nerve to line you up. Weak.
