Great memories

What a line!!! Jonathan, Wensink, and O'Reilly. Don Cherry once said Stan Jonathan needed 8 stitches to sew up a cut on his forehead but he never bled!! That was one tough SOB.

Good old fashion beat down.

Posted by DIRTYWATAH on June 04, 2009 at 04:49 PM

Jonothan smoked him with a left after they switched hands. Met him once at a fundraiser real nice guy.

Jonathan beats Bouchard into a bloody mess with almost no resistance. I don't blame linesmen for letting fights like that go sometimes. Look at D'amico and how bloody he was. Too bad you don't see that today. Two fights and a bloody official. I miss real hockey in the worst way. Win to Jonathan

the beat downs of all beatdowns ...... everything is measured off this fight.

If youre old enough to remember the build up and contriversy of this gameit made the fight even better if that is possible. at the garden that night the buzz in the crowd before the fight was awsome. no huge jumbotron blaring. you knew it was a powder keg ready to blow and boy did it. jomathan had nreal power and hand speed. i must have watched this fight a hundred times.

I remember this one like it was yesterday, Jonathon tooled the Montreal tough guy!

Posted by cclub00 on September 24, 2012 at 11:26 PM

jonathan was the best ever when it came to dropping the gloves , he never lost . did a job on moose dupont , mel bridgeman , you name it . he beat them

one of the greatest fighters ever. man did jonathan fight with angers...wow, got to love him

Posted by Hendo67 on October 08, 2009 at 06:55 PM

Jonathan is one of, if not the toughest fighter and best P4P fighter to ever lace up the skates. That was a mugging, Bouchard could barely get up... Just curious, has montreal ever beat Boston in toughness?

Posted by muskokadangler on October 08, 2009 at 03:52 PM

The best transition from left to right and vice versa!!!!Almost seemless!!!! A work of Art if blood SPLOOGING all over the place can be considered a work of art!!!!! God love em both!

Stan beat Bouchard like a French Canadian clubbibg a harp seal.

Posted by christopher29 on January 09, 2010 at 11:13 AM

SJ was something else! Bouchard was no slouch either. He just ran in to the wrong guy that night. Great fight!

Posted by joep26e on May 28, 2011 at 06:17 PM

Bouchard got rocked!!

Posted by Bob LeFlambeur on August 13, 2011 at 04:15 PM

Jonathan was one of the greatest, seen here chopping down the giant Bouchard. I watched this live in 1978 on WSBK. Of course Jonathan would fight anyone in the league, and like this fight he usually gave away nearly 20lbs in weight. As usual in those days the B's won the fights, but lost the series.

Bouchard got fcked up

Posted by beretta804 on March 14, 2012 at 01:13 AM

Ouch! Big lead-up before this fight. Stan was best hockey fighter ever.

Posted by Orielly on May 10, 2014 at 05:44 PM

Classic, typifies how the Bruins have spanked the Canadians thru the years!

Posted by bigjake32 on November 11, 2015 at 09:07 PM

Wow the good old days before i was born.

Posted by bb brown on February 02, 2013 at 01:15 PM

Stan was the best fighter in NHL history bar none.

Posted by BruinsStrong on November 10, 2013 at 03:07 PM

Stan Jonathan was one of the toughest dudes in the NHL at the time, wouldn't back down from anyone. Pierre Bouchard at 6 or 7 inches taller never had a chance. Great beat down from that great rivalry. Remember it like it was yesterday!!!!

Suuuuuuuuck it boldbilly.

Posted by spiderlakeDave on June 08, 2016 at 02:10 PM

What a great beat-down Remember when it happened. Couldn't stand Bouchard, so it was great to see a guy so much smaller beat the crap out of him. Stan was extremely tough.

Posted by sixclocks on February 20, 2010 at 05:37 PM

total clock cleaning by Jonathan

Posted by terrier92 on August 14, 2015 at 05:59 PM

Whenever life gets me down I play this fight When Garden closed only Orr gotta a bigger ovation than Stanley and trust me all the old Bruins were there

Posted by ShelleyFan45 on June 04, 2009 at 03:02 PM

Good fight, Jonathan busted open Bouchard pretty bad, blood all over the ice.

Posted by arfangel on August 25, 2015 at 03:44 PM

Habs fan, I hate the Bruins but anyone who says Bouchard won this fight is stupid. The fight was a draw at firts the Jonathan KO Bouchard making Stan Jonathan the clear winner. Credit to Jonathan because Bouchard was tough!

Posted by Richterfan on June 06, 2009 at 01:13 PM

One of the Top Ten classic hockey fights of all time! I have never seen this fight in such clear video. A true treat. How can you not love Stan Jonathon. Pound for pound, the toughest guy to ever play the game.

Posted by travist on October 29, 2011 at 04:02 PM

Bouchard thought he was tough, then he met jonathan's knuckles and got split open bad. and what a way to go out for bouchard...at least he will be remembered!

Posted by Jim02351 on May 21, 2015 at 06:58 PM

Jonathan was one tough mother.

Posted by BigBadBruins68 on September 29, 2009 at 06:49 AM

One of my all-time favorites. Jonathan was somethin' else, man. One bad dude.

Posted by craig_9806 on May 21, 2015 at 11:37 AM

Nice to see nothing's ever changed with the Bruins. Spot picking cowards. I hate Montreal more then Boston

Posted by Tallon on June 07, 2016 at 11:58 AM

I dont think Bouchard is downed by a punch. He trades even with Jonathan, then goes off balance. Truth be told, I think he breaks his nose on the free fall to the ice. I am neither a Habs or Bruins fan.(Checking the date, I just finished my first year in law school - Jeez!)
