I love this. It should have been a 5 min fisticuff major, but Rivet has to do this. You can let a guy like Thornton get run. He is arguable the best player in the league and has to be safe at all times if he is your teammate. This is why the instigator should be thrown out !

Someone voted for Ott here? Mrs. Ott, please stop voting, your screwing up the percentages. Not so sure I would have called that a run at Thornton, it was a body check. I think Joe is big enough to handle it, and probably could have handled Ott on his own as he is a pretty tough fighter. But Rivet got him, and left little doubt.

Ott runs into Thornton for no reason after the play is already dead, so Rivet skates over and takes care of business. Ott tries to defend himself but can't, and eventually ends up turtling. Predictably, Rivet gets an instigator for simply defending his star player.

Wouldve been better if Ott had actually wanted to go and defended himself instead of just getting slammed into the glass and then pummeled.

Ott and his ilk have a rep for cheapshots and not then backing things up when called out....

Rivet has one for defending team mates....kudos to Rivet for not giving the cretin a chance to yap and hide behind the officials who would have stepped in between the pair...

Instigator penalties or not, it's time that players around the league started putting it to the guys with mouths and no balls to back things up
