Comments: Behind the play, the two drop the gloves at center ice and tie up. Marchment throws four overhand rights as Rivet throws a right and tries to duck away from the punches. Marchment misses with an overhand right before Rivet throws a right that grazes the top of Marchment's helmet. Rivet throws another right and the two go toe-to-toe with punches; Rivet with rights, Marchment switching and going with the left. Marchment switches hands and the two continue throwing rapid fire rights. Marchment throws three more rights as Rivet ducks down and the two go back and forth with rights. Marchment misses inside with an uppercut and throws two overhand rights as Rivet struggles to get loose. They grapple for a short moment before exchanging multiple left hands. Marchment knocks Rivet's helmet off before Rivet switches to the right and the two go toe-to-toe once more, this time at a much slower pace. They each exchange long rights before they stop throwing and the linesmen come in. They each skate back to the dressing room for repairs; Rivet with a bloody nose, Marchment with a cut over his right eye.

Arguably the 2003-04 season's fight of the year for the majority of fight fans. This one sort of came out of nowhere. It's not that anyone would be surprised to see these two mix it up, but this was an epic battle where defense was simply shown the damn door. From the point these two bastards locked in on one another, it was nothin' but knuckles against (mostly) flesh. At the end, both guys were cut and everyone was treated to bout that didn't honestly have an actual winner. Worth the price of admission alone, folks. The honor that these two demonstrated is to be applauded. Someone should strap Gary Bettman to a chair and force him to sit through this awake for a month of Sundays. Brainwash the little **** into understanding that this is the type of accountability and determination that the NHL was built upon for over a century before he and his ilk decided to run the league through the panty factory. Both men should be very, very proud of themselves.
