Mar 30, 2007 Phoenix Coyotes Josh Gratton
2pd 01:36 San Jose Sharks Doug Murray
Comments: Gratton takes a run at Murray near the benches and falls to the ice. Gratton gets back to his feet and shoves Murray just before the two grab ahold of each other and drop the gloves. They end up leaning on the San Jose bench with Gratton throwing a short right that hits the side of Murray's helmet. Murray wraps his left arm around the back of Gratton's head and then proceeds to throw five straight rights with a few of them connecting. Gratton lands a right towards the end of the flurry and they skate away from the boards. Gratton throws two overhand rights to the back of Murray's helmet. Murray gets turned around, but quickly reverses that position and takes Gratton's helmet off in the process. Gratton gets Murray's helmet off and they go back and forth with a couple of short rights while they grapple. Murray throws two more rights and Gratton responds with four rights to the back of Murray's head while Murray pushes Gratton into the boards. They continue to exchange overhand rights and body shots while leaning over the benches until the linesmen finally decide to intervene and the end the fight. Other Penalties: Gratton received a cross checking.

You know-

It's pretty funny when someone outside your league picks on something like "Douglas".

Special thanks to the all caps guy- your point was lost on me
I hate Phoenix fans.

Douglas is the preferred name, which didn't come out until this season. This will sound lame, but his Mom prefers, Douglas.

Nice fight by both guys. Murray with the slight edge. Murray doesn't fight a ton, but how many Swedes do you see handle the rough stuff like Murray? He will throw them when needed, ask Barch. He can also pack a load on a check. as many opponents have found out. He just needs his overall game to round into form to be a regular on the Sharks D. With the players the Sharks have on D, he's an odd man out unless an injury forces him in (example-Rivet was out last night due to a groin injury).

murray's first four or five connecting shots gave him a big advantage early. Gratton made a nice comeback attempt, but mostly clinched til the end.

Murray looks pretty strong

It looks that Murray might land a couple of shots that are not damaging.
I call it a draw.

Must the announcer keep referring to him as "Douglas", while the other keeps talking about how he has him in the "meat-grinder"?

What are you talking about, Murray a coward for not taking his helmet off? Gratton had him tied up from the start, Murray never had a chance to take it off. When given the opportunity, I've seen Murray take off his lid for fights with tougher guys than Gratton.

Edge to Murray in a spirited and lengthy battle. More big quality shots for Murray, who looked to use his strength to control the fight, though Gratton landed a few also. Surprised that Murray did that well against a tough guy like "iron head" Gratton

Murray's mom is Swedish and in her pronunciation of English, thought "Doug" sounded like "dog." Hence he's now "Douglas."

As for the "meat grinder" references, that's Marty McSorley talking there, most likely from experience!

Win Murray, over a solid opponent.

neither one really won, but josh definitely got the better of the fight. he may not have gotten as many punches in, but the punches he did get in were strong, hard punches right in murray's face. and if murray wasn't such a p***y and took his helmet off, maybe josh could have f***** him up more. so murray should get the loss just for that. at least josh took his helmet off.

devsfan- his legal name is Douglas Murray, but for some reason the NHL has him listed as Doug Murray as they assumed thats what people named Douglas preferred to be called.

I give the edge to Murray for his early work, but I hate guys that just try to tie up their opponent. Love Josh Gratton, he's all offence. If they fought 5 times Gratton wins at least three.

Heard of the human highlight reel, meet Josh Gratton, the human punching bag. Big heart. Small brain. Josh, get a real job.
