Comments: Shelley takes out Tom Gilbert with a hit near the Edmonton net, prompting Roy to drop his gloves and immediately go after Shelley. They grab ahold of each other and Shelley starts the fight off with a right. Shelley throws two more rights that knock Roy's helmet off. They exchange some rights to the side and back of each other's head. Roy switches hands and throws a left with Shelley coming back in the form of two rights. Shelley then slams Roy to the ice and the linesmen are right there to grab them and end the fight. Other Penalties: Roy received an instigator and misconduct.

Pretty Good fight. Shelley Threw a good hard body check seperating the man from the puck. Roy did a good job stepping in to defend his teammate but bit off a little more than he could chew.

Could not disagree with wallsy more. Just because it is the "new" NHL does not mean that you skate with your head down. Contact is part of the game along with fighting. Good players and goalies are getting "run" because the "new" NHL is trying to curb the physicality and fighting, therfore, there are no repercussions for these actions (i.e. having to fend for yourself in a fight after cleaning a skilled player's clock). I respect Roy for stepping up. The NHL needs more of this and more old time hockey.

Mathieu Roy vs Jody Shelley

Shelley puts a big hit on Smid, Roy takes exception and goes after him. Roy throws a couple lefts, as Shelley gets it going with a few rights. Shelley rips Roy's helmet off, and throws a few solid rights that connect. After that, Shelley wrestles Roy to the ice, and the linesmen move in.

Oilers are sure missing the heaveyweight champ Laraque, the Mike Tyson of hockey fighting. Oilers Should never have let big George leave.

Nice hit by shelley. Not cheap at all wallysy1. I gave Shelley the edge in the fight for the first right before the camera cut and the takedown. Close fight though. Good job by Roy, he did the right thing.

I like this fight because you have stick up for your teammates I'ed like to see more of it but with the new rules there eliminating the physicality of the game and turning it into basketball (he hit my hand before I shot thats a penalty) whaat happened to hockey I guess it has to be a G rated games so church folk come to watch on sunday (Dont mean to affend anyone its a phrase to discribe the paly of games now) we as fans need to change what we want to see because the leauge wont

Nice job by Roy in sticking up for a teammate. Didn't hesitate in going after an established fighter. The fight itself rated a draw. Shelley may have snuck one in but between the camera coverage being slightly late, from a distance etc, it was difficult to see what landed so i called a draw due to an even punch count and no damage done.

pretty much a draw here I think. Good for Roy for stepping up though.
