Clear win for Deslauriers. For everyone that is giving Dumba grief for unsnapping his helmet, he did it because he knocked Deslauriers helmet off before the fight and was man enough not to give himself an advantage. He didn't take it off completely to avoid additional penalties.

Posted by kkdowning on January 17, 2015 at 10:43 AM

Dumba bit off more than he could handle here. However, Dumba stood up, fought his own battle and showed respect by unbuckling is helmet -- which is all he needed to do.

I am sure you all agree with me that the Sabres are the best team ever!

Posted by bradmayfan on January 15, 2015 at 10:11 PM

Ouch!!! Man Nicholas can toss them. Reminds me of a young brad may.

Dumba lost but won my respect for unstrapping his hat.

Posted by Northland on January 16, 2015 at 05:46 AM

Dumba scores later in game but I don't think he remembers it!

Posted by FHgrad99 on January 20, 2015 at 03:38 AM

Well, after this there was no doubt that Dumba can take a punch. Deslauriers nailed him with a couple of bombs right off the bat but somehow Dumba stayed on his feet after those. Deslauriers definitely wins this one because he landed some bombs.

Posted by Domi-ko on January 15, 2015 at 10:11 PM

Not sure why Dumba unhinged his bonnet, but never took it off prior to the fight starting. Made for a good pop shot to see it go flying after the first shot landed. Maybe he should pick his battles more wisely. Deslaurier made him look like a Dumba$$.

Posted by kryon24 on January 16, 2015 at 02:31 PM

Ha Ha Dumba got his dumbass kicked. This guy DeLorian so far looks like he knows what he's doing in this department. Overwhelming beat down and lucky Dumbass didn't get ko'd.

Posted by Daysofcoleco on January 15, 2015 at 10:13 PM

If those punches were as hard as they looked I don't know how Dumba didn't get KO'd,

Posted by callum on January 16, 2015 at 08:42 AM

One too many letters in that kids name. Good clean bodycheck. Still, young Dumba did the right thing and paid the price for being a good teammate. Good shift, good hit and good fight for Deslaurier

Posted by DARCY T on January 22, 2015 at 02:23 PM

dumba's 1st nhl fight...at first i thought deslauriers droppped his helmet and dumba didnt but then i saw the replay and he lost his helmet in action which lead to the fight.but deslauriers removed dumba's helmet quickly with some right bombs anyway...dumba tried to come back but its a win deslauriers

Posted by Jellyczar on January 16, 2015 at 03:04 PM

Finally the Sabres have a couple of tough guys...... though Robitaille and Jennerette are annoying....

Posted by toy boy dan on January 16, 2015 at 06:28 AM

Good bout, Deslauriers, in a close one.

Posted by von_swine on January 16, 2015 at 10:50 PM

if the Sabres are going to be perpetually anemic in the standings, can't they revive the Ray, May, Barnaby, Boughner era for a season or two? Please?...lol Nicky D smashes the D-bomb who's name is a laundry list of joke opportunities (nod to BW on this one)... if only SABREHATRED were still here to remind us that even if a Sabre WINS a fight, they're all still a bunch of jobless losers...(in ALL caps no less) lmao #44 FTW

Posted by dcmac on January 16, 2015 at 05:24 AM

Dumba sure has a good chin. Deslauriers obviously landed the meaning blows

Posted by glovedropper08 on January 19, 2015 at 08:05 AM

Deslauriers can really throw them. Exciting rookie. Glad Buffalo has a younger guy who can continue to grow and play with his type of performance game in and game out. Deslauriers isn't afraid of anybody.

Posted by jnk07899 on January 17, 2015 at 01:52 AM

Nicky can scrap...

Posted by mschmid2 on January 16, 2015 at 12:06 PM

Loving Deslauriers. Really wish that uppercut landed

Posted by bubba24 on January 16, 2015 at 04:53 AM

WOW. Give the kid credit for stepping up, but a few things first: 1. NEVER undo you helmet and leave it on your head, you're just setting it up like T-ball for the other guy to make the "Highlight Reel". 2. Learn to tie-up 3. Learn from every fight, and get back up on that horse at your first opportunity. Good job kid.

Win for the Buffalo guy. Very nice...

Posted by doobi1 on January 16, 2015 at 02:28 PM

Well, Deslauriers took Dumba's helmet off for him. What a beat down! Dumba went to bat for a teammate and ended up getting his Dumba kicked for real. Nice win for Deslauriers,

Posted by wallysy1 on January 16, 2015 at 06:34 PM

no idea how this only gets a 6.6 rating. Im not sure ive ever seen that solid of punches landing--and the guy didnt go down-. Kudos to both.

Posted by traveller on January 16, 2015 at 11:10 AM

Dumba got dummied he did a good job of receiving and Deslauriers didn't mind throwing them.

Posted by Aud Fellow on January 17, 2015 at 08:43 PM

Dumba had no idea what he was getting into. Dumb. A.

Posted by FoiledKnuckles on January 16, 2015 at 10:12 AM

Good ol' fashioned ass-whoopin'.

Posted by chrisisit on January 16, 2015 at 09:26 PM

nice fight! Loved how the ref at the end was trying to stop Des fist from another punch

Posted by Bear72 on January 16, 2015 at 10:38 AM

Shit gave it to Dumba because he is the only one with balls enough on the wild to stand up

Posted by kingkushzz on January 19, 2015 at 08:37 PM

Buffalo sucks they cant even win this fight

Posted by travist on January 22, 2015 at 06:49 PM

FUCKING linesmen, that was going to keep going.

Posted by gmr133 on January 16, 2015 at 11:07 AM

Buffalo wins something finally.

Posted by Big Daddy D on January 16, 2015 at 06:48 PM

seems like to took Dumba a while to realize he was in a fight but he came on at the end, still a loss and a poor attempt at a judo throw

Posted by pvdrummer2000 on January 24, 2015 at 12:58 AM

Big D with a great hit and then challenged by a real Dumba$$. Deslauriers then proceeded to feed Dumba$$ about 3 knuckle sandwiches.

Posted by Amerkfan8 on January 17, 2015 at 12:04 PM

That went as expected. Only thing the Sabres won all night.

Posted by Biggus on January 16, 2015 at 10:17 AM

That was a good clean hit, but Dumba decides to take exception. Props to Dumba for the release of the chin strap before engaging - takes the shield out of it without drawing a penalty. Both guys throwing for the fences, but Deslauriers landed.

Posted by Hilaker on January 15, 2015 at 08:56 PM

There is the reason the Mild don't fight. They can't!

Posted by bigmike53 on January 15, 2015 at 08:01 PM

Deslauriers steamrolls through the overmatched Dumba. It could have been even worse. Win for Deslauriers.

Posted by The Mad House on January 16, 2015 at 01:22 AM

Loved the start to this one Love Dumba stepping in and the shots they gave each other before the fight Loved Dumba undoing the chinstrap Loved Deslauriers scrapping without a helmet And loved the facts the refs let all that go on! Deslauriers takes this one pretty handily He's a bad dude

Posted by Big_Fat_Dan on January 16, 2015 at 01:52 AM

THATS MORE LIKE IT! good showing boys, Des with the win!

Posted by ironbar44 on January 15, 2015 at 08:27 PM

N.D. throws them when he goes

Posted by Behn Wilson on January 16, 2015 at 01:35 AM

Overheard from the Buffalo bench... "Ok Dumba-ss Don't want to take your helmet off? Let me help you with that" Deslauriers??? After that monster hit and that "lidless" assault... I'm definitely a fan

Posted by ederion on January 15, 2015 at 09:00 PM

Deslaurier flat out destroyed him

Posted by cible on January 16, 2015 at 01:59 AM

The epidemy of refs stepping in to early and running the fans pleasure of watching a good fight even if its exceded most of the fights of the new era without goons, sadly continues..... The only positive here is dumba being prevented from being knocked out cause you can be sure it was coming, clearly was out of his league!!!!!!!

Posted by yankees67 on January 15, 2015 at 10:37 PM

The only punch the sabres showed all nite. Nick the hammer!

Posted by boldbilly on January 17, 2015 at 12:28 AM

Ouch.......Deslauriers not even close....Dumba living up to his name sake Scored it a 7

Posted by BruinsAllDaySon on January 15, 2015 at 09:23 PM

Matthew might be a little "Dumba" after those shots to the head.

Posted by chriswabs on January 15, 2015 at 08:32 PM

Despite the small comeback at the end by Dumba, Deslauries wins big. He's the reason Kaleta shouldn't be on the Sabres.

Posted by Great Murray on January 16, 2015 at 10:02 AM

Deslauriers lays out both Wild boys. Dumba needed Dumbo's ears so he could fly out of the rink.

Posted by adwander on January 15, 2015 at 09:30 PM

Good job Deslauriers, seems like you really sparked the club.

Posted by Dannymik on January 16, 2015 at 01:34 AM

Big Nick throwing the bombs m/

Posted by nickj1973 on January 15, 2015 at 07:54 PM

Man Dumba ate some punches right to the face. Easy win for Nico as that seems like that's all the Sabers can win at, at the moment.

Posted by Saracino69 on January 16, 2015 at 12:46 AM

Buffalo can't score but they can fight. Beat down.

Posted by shawnrocks on January 15, 2015 at 08:56 PM

both landed some heavy shots .......going with deslauriers that dumba took it like a man

Posted by EK65 on January 15, 2015 at 11:22 PM

Props to Dumba for standing in there, those were some heavy punches And to be honest, I never knew that to be apart of his game. Deslauriers on the other hand continues to impress me (I know the competition in this fight etc.) All Deslauriers & 6 Remember the not so distant days when Minnesota had Scott & Boogaard maybe the days of the super heavweights are gone but, Minnesota seriously a light heavyweight, middleweight, guy with any form of retaliatory toughness will do, seriously...

Posted by 20KenPatzack20 on January 15, 2015 at 10:47 PM

Smart move for Dumba for undoing his helmet instead of taking it off and getting an extra two minutes with the stupid new rules. Yes the win goes to Deslauriers but good for Dumba for stepping up. Win Deslauriers

Posted by Cruncher on January 15, 2015 at 09:11 PM

Deslauriers beat the shit out of Dumbass no PUN intended. Dumbass won't do that again!

Posted by mannythegoat on January 15, 2015 at 11:24 PM

Deslauriers is a tough go for your first NHL fight, but Dumba hung around after a very rough start. Clear win for Deslauriers though.

Posted by Humper on January 15, 2015 at 11:30 PM

Entertaining, high energy bout that was unfortunately one-sided. Unfortunate for Dumba, that is, who should choose his spots a little more carefully in future.

Posted by dilligaf4 on January 15, 2015 at 10:37 PM

Nicci took a few shots to his fist off of dumba's helmet and maybe only one off his skull bone. Dumba's young and probably not SMRT enough to know that it should hurt so he fought back and made it pretty close at the end. The announcers should be punched in the face for saying "that's just what the doctor ordered!" ???? WTF? One goon fighting an overmatched young player. Sure didn't help them out on the scoreboard. It did however get all 2800 in attendance up off their lazy asses for once during the game.
